Prologue

The Tale of Hayagriva: A Ghost Story

Once,

Long before the reign of Celestia,

Long before Equestra,

Long before the Sun shined upon the wasteland that was our world,

There Was A Stallion.

This Stallion,

Along with His Sister,

Created the world we live in today.

The Stallion was named Hayagriva,

And His Sister: Phigalia.

Together, they gathered the dust and the rock and the dirt from the Void,

And they made the Earth,

In all it's splendor.

But Hayagriva was not content to let the Earth stand.

He was prone to acts of destruction,

And the Earth was set in His sights.

However, His Sister,

That Mare that was our Savior,

Thought the Earth good.

She saw the ponies who would play in Her Brother's light,

And thought that they should be allowed to continue.

Hayagriva did not want to be kept from what He felt was rightfully His,

And so He turned His own Sister into a mass of cratered rock,

To forever be a testament to His enemies.

But Phigalia expected such treachery,

And She cast a spell upon Him at the same instant,

So while She would be encased inside the stone prison,

He would suffer a fate even worse.

His curse would be to be imprisoned within His own body,

And to burn for all of eternity.

He would be the warmth and the light and the life of the world he wished to destroy.

And so they remained,

Brother and Sister,

At opposites with each other,

For the rest of time.

However...

Both the Stallion and the Mare had made pacts and deals with the stars,

To do what the creators of the world could not in their prisons.

Hayagriva chose six of the most powerful stars and become the key to His release,

In disguise to appear as the salvation of pony civilization.

But Phigalia foresaw this.

She aligned the Fate of a generation to be in the best position they could,

To combat the evil of Her brother.

Six ponies would have power to match the six stars,

And prevent Hayagriva's release.

Two of Earth,

Two of Sky,

And Two of Fire.

If they wavered even once,

They would die,

And this world would perish.

They would not be alone in their quest,

However.

One,

A creature born of Magic and untouched by the greed of his race,

He would become the bravest of warriors.

Two,

One made from Fire,

Who will overcome her limited power and appear when all seems lost.

Three,

A creature of Chaos and Disharmony,

Willing to save his enemies to save himself.

Four,

A princess,

Lost in time.

Five,

One made from Water,

The last of her kind.

And Six,

A princess to play host once again,

To the force that desires to save them as much as rule them.

These six heroes will all walk different paths,

But they will play their part in the journey of the Chosen Six,

And with their assistance,

The ponies of destiny will succeed.

And it all begins with a spell...
