Twilight smiled at her friend, Rarity. She had been gone working in Canterlot with Celestia attending to her royal princess duties for about four months.
"I'm so happy that you were willing to try out my new shampoo for me darling. I don't want anything to hurt my mane! That would be the worst possible thing!" Twilight smiled.
"Yeah, I'm just happy to see you Rarity!"
"I too am glad that you were able to hang out. It's just been far too long. How have you been darling? You went to Canterlot and you are a princess now so I would love to hear about your life over these last few months."
"I have been studying constantly and persistently. I have to learn how to control my wings properly, I'm still working with Princess Celestia on how to act like a proper princess at each mandatory social gathering or meeting and I was able to learn about the history of alicorns! The Canterlot libraries are just so large and they have numerous books of all kinds! That's how I was able to find such an abundance of books on alicorns and princesses. The literature was just so informational. It was also very great to see Princess Celestia again." Twilight stopped talking and realized that she had just gone on and on about stuff that Rarity probably didn't actually care about. "Well, I know how much you like to talk, so let's chit chat. Tell me whatever gossip you're dying to get out." Rarity let a a girly squeal.
"First, your news on princess, for lack of a better term, stuff has been very exciting and fabulous! Being a princess must be magnificent! Oh how I wish that I too could be a princess! Well, it's not too late, I will find my prince charming some day. Second, I have some very juicy gossip! Aloe and Lotus recently met Flitter and Cloudchaser. They hit it off and now they are all the best of friends! They are even going on quadruple date; they're trying to make that popular."
"That sounds exciting, Rarity." Rarity turned on the water from the sink and set it to a medium-hot temperature. She put Twilight's violet/hot pink mane under the stream of water. She poured some of her new shampoo into her hoof and massaged it into her friend's scalp and roots. It foamed nicely and went in smoothly. Once Rarity finished, she rinsed it off thoroughly, she knew from experience that residue can leave your head feeling itchy.
Twilight let out a moan of bliss. She loved being pampered. It was not part of her everyday routine. In fact it was far from it. She was constantly working and hadn`t had a moment to herself over these last few months.
Rarity used the towel to dry Twilight's mane. She closed her eyes, counted to ten and then opened her eyes to see the results. She opened one, blue eye to see that Twilight's mane shined and was extremely soft.
"Yes! Fabulous! I must recommend this to the others!"
"It looks great, Rarity." Then, suddenly Twilight had a frown on her face and she felt like there were knots in her stomach. She felt queasy. Twilight's face had a dull green to it. Rarity stared at her friend with a worried expression. Then, Twilight vomited on Rarity's carpet. Rarity became concerned for her one of her closest friends.
"Are you okay?" Twilight sighed.
"I'm... fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm perfectly fine."
"But, you just vomited!" She looked at the mess. Then, she suddenly felt really sad. "...on my rug." Twilight chuckled. Why is she so freaked out?
"Rarity, it's okay."
"Please try to take it easy though, darling. I wouldn't want your mane to get ru- I mean, I wouldn't want my dear friend to be in pain!" Twilight smiled.
"Trust me. I'm fine. I have books on sickness and other things. Now, I have to go, Applejack wants me to help her buck some trees. Bye!" Rarity was hesitant, but she wouldn't want to doubt Twilight.
"Goodbye, darling!" Twilight teleported over to Sweet Apple Acres.
Twilight walked slowly up to the Apple family barn. It was still in the process of being fixed. I wonder if it will ever be fixed. I should make myself a checklist for her, it could help Applejack find time to fix that old roof.
She saw Big Mac and waved as she walked over to her friend Applejack. He was pulling the plow so he was busy, but he still smiled at her. Applebloom had also noticed the gesture.
"Hey, Twilight!"
"Hello, Applebloom. Any new leads on the cutie mark finding?" She looked down. "Don't worry, you'll find it soon. Now, do you know where Applejack may be?"
"Yeah, ah saw er near the apple buckets!" Twilight patted the filly's head and then walked over to the apples. She spotted a hat and automatically knew that Applejack was indeed where Applebloom had said. I would know that stetson anywhere.
"Howdy, sugarcube!"
"Hey, AJ!"
"Ya ready?"
"Yes, but I was surprised that you asked me." Applejack raised her eyebrow.
"Why wouldn't ah?"
"You know."
"Ya mean bein' a princess an' all?"
"The other thing." What the hay is she talkin' about?!
"Well, uh, follow me ta the trees that need ta be bucked."
Twilight followed Applejack over to the correct area. "Okay, thanks AJ. I'll start." Twilight slowly raised her hind legs and bucked. It hurt her hooves a bit and her stomach still hurt from earlier, but there was work to be done and she had Pinkie Promised Applejack that she would do this for her.
She bucked the trees, watching the apples descent to the ground each time, trying to ignore the pain. Twilight bucked a stubborn tree once more with force and it wasn't a smart move. Her stomach began hurting immensely and she cringed slightly, but she was used to it and moved on. She bucked a few more trees, collecting apples along the way, and the pain continued.
The pain rose and rose with each kick. Twilight couldn't handle it and she cried out in pain. She collapsed onto the grass which luckily cushioned her fall.
AJ looked over and saw that her friend was holding her stomach and letting out cries of pain. She stopped everything and ran over to Twilight. "Twi?! Are ya okay?!"
"Yes, I'm FIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNE!" She had felt a sharp pain at the word fine.
"Twi, ya don't seem fine."
"I am."
"Ah think that ah'm right 'bout this. Ya aren't okay." Twilight frowned.
"I'm okay. Don't worry about me. I think that I should probably just go hang out with Rainbow Dash now. She just wants me to watch her perform some stunts. I'm so sorry, but I just don't think that I can do this in my current condition." Applejack nodded and helped her friend stand still long enough to do the teleportation spell.
Twilight vanished leaving a very confused and worried friend at the farm.
Twilight looked up into the sky in search of a certain rainbow-maned pegasus. She saw pictures in the clouds. I wonder if the weather team do that or if they just all have their own unique shape.
"Rainbow!" She sighed. "It's no use. Knowing Dash, she's probably napping. She needs a checklist as well, she could schedule a nap instead of sleeping the day away."
Then, her eye caught a a cyan blur near a few cumulus clouds. "How was it so easy to find you? You could have been anywhere!" She waited until her friend landed and then tapped Rainbow Dash on the back, signaling that she was there. "Hi, Rainbow."
"Sup, Twilight! You need to cheer for all of my stunts, okay?" Twilight nodded and Rainbow Dash took off into the almost clear, blue sky.
She started with some easy loops, corkscrews and dives. Of course, she did each stunt flawlessly and with ease. Then, she moved onto some tricks like making the rainbow appear above her, making shapes with the rainbow trail that follows her when she flies and spinning a few clouds. Those too were done effortlessly. Finally, she did some real stunts. She soared across the sky, spinning clouds while diving and then going back up to freeze the water droplets and then finally punching them while she created a rainbow so that it looked like it was a rainbow rain explosion. She even did a sonic rainboom just to blow her away (literally).
You would think that Twilight would be cheering like crazy, but she was just mediocre. "What's wrong with you?! You aren't even cheering! You're just talking loudly! Seriously, are you okay?"
"I'm just a bit out of breath from bucking on Applejack's farm for so long!"
"Well, you are getting kind of fat. Seriously, princesses are supposed to be all tall and thin."
"First, rude. Second, I already know that."
"Why?"
"You should know why I'm heavier than usual."
"Well, I don't." Twilight was getting agitated.
"Whatever, Rainbow. I'm going to go. Fluttershy needs me." She stormed off and then teleported over to Fluttershy's cottage.
Twilight appeared right in front of Fluttershy, startling her. "Ah!" Fluttershy realized that it was Twilight and calmed down. "D- Don't um... startle me like that."
"Hi, Fluttershy."
"Hello."
"Why did you invite me over? I have just been stressed today. Everypony is fussing over me. Likely because I've become a princess."
"Well, I hope that you feel better. Oh, could you um... walk some of my animals? I have a lot t- to do here."
"Sure, Fluttershy." Fluttershy whistled to get the bunnies to come, clapped to get the squirrels to come and then hummed for the birds. They all came and sat in front of her. Amazing.
"How do you do that? Rainbow Dash couldn't figure it out and Opal doesn't seem to like Rarity very much. You have a gift with animals Fluttershy. Too bad that books can`t teach that or I would be efficient in animal care."
"It's nothing. I just um... have always been that way." She turned to her animals. "You are going to go um... walk with Twilight today. Stay safe." Twilight hummed, whistled and clapped at the same time with her magic and then began walking outside.
Twilight and the animals walked onto the sidewalk. It was a nice day. Twilight tried to keep up with the animals that moved unbelievably fast for such small and nervous creatures.
She had to keep them from eating random leaves many times. "You would think that they would develop a diet like Angel, as opposed to just eating anything that they see."
She waved at ponies that walked by and said hello to a few neighbors. Soon though, her calves, ankles and hooves were hurting like crazy. She teleported them all back to Fluttershy's and then jumped atop the couch to keep herself from falling.
When her hooves brushed against the couch she shuddered and yelped in pain. Her hooves were just so soar and she had just walked for ten minutes.
"OH MY GOSH! TWILIGHT! ARE YOU OKAY?! ARE YOU HURT?! IS SOMETHING WRONG?!" Twilgiht sat up and rolled her eyes.
"Why are you freaking out? It hurts, but it's okay."
"Because you are um... hurt, swelling and you look like your body is in pain."
"That's because I am, but it's totally a natural part of life."
"Are you sure that you are okay?"
"Yes!"
"Well um... you should go because I don't w- want you to have to do anything. Just go to Pinkie's party later today and then g- go to um... bed early." Twilight nodded and teleported over to Sugarcube Corner, it would be a while until the party, but she didn't feel like going home yet.
Pinkie Pie was ready for Twilight when she got there and it was almost like she had sensed that she would be there early. Oh, right. Pinkie Sense.
"Hiya, Twilight!"
"Hey, Pinkie."
"Why do you sound so tired?"
"Many reasons. One in particular."
"Which one?"
"The big one." Which one is that? Twilight seems angry though, I'll just shut up about it! Twilgiht looked over at the food/refreshment table.
The sight of all those goodies made her mouth water. She was a princess so she had to contain her urge to run over there and eat all of it. She grabbed one cookie, took a bite and her mouth exploded with flavor.
Twilight lost all control and dug in. She ate everything under Celestia's sun. She ate like a pig. "Twilight?"
"What?"
"Are you okay?"
"YES! I'M JUST HUNGRY!" Twilight was mad, but she continued eating as many goodies as she could. Pinkie just watched curiously. She was more of a leader than a follower though so she joined in.
The two mares dug in and were shoveling food into their mouths. Then, after a while Twilight gave up and sat down. It was already party time by then so the others were just coming in. The elements, followed by Spike, walked in.
They walked up to Twilight with concerned faces. They all said in unison "Are you okay?" Even Pinkie Pie. Twilight knew that they were acting weird, but they were taking it to a new level of weirdom.
"We're um... worried about y- you."
"Ah don't that ya er alright like ya say ya er."
"You are acting as random and weird as Pinkie Pie!"
"You're acting silly!"
"I'm worried for you, darling."
Twilight stared at her friends in confusion. I just don't understand.
"Spike, why are you here? Don't you have important chores today? And it's re shelving day!" He placed a claw on his mother/sister/friend/boss.
"They have informed me of your illness. We're worried."
"What's so worrying about me?" Rainbow Dash chose to answer that for her.
"You/re fatter than usual, you are getting tired really fast, your stomach is hurting you, you seem like you're hurt and you barfed this morning." Rarity scolded her.
"Why would you act so rude about it?!"
"I don't know." Twilight sighed and looked at them like they each had two heads.
"You are acting so weird. It's like you don't even know that I'm pregnant!"
Author's Note
This has been edited heavily. New scenes and paragraphs have been added to improve it. I improved upon the vocabulary, structure, wording, grammar, plot and characterization. I also made Twilight a princess in this version. It explains why none of her friends know of her pregnancy. She assumes that they know because they are her friends so they should have been informed. Apparently they weren`t.
