A simple snowflake glistened in the moonlight as she approached. She was as delicate as her cutie mark depicted, a simple flower blooming among the winter storm. Yet, she was stronger than many, many other young mares. She soon called out to the sky, with the stars like thousands of slivers of light slipping unintentionally coming through the velvet of the royal purple night sky that, yet, she could not see. She only said simple words.

“Please come out. I need you.”

Shortly , a short- haired purple and black alicorn’s silhouette came out from the moons pure white glisten.

“Hello, dear Snowdrop. Why do you plead?  Is something wrong?”

“Luna, she… my mother…she… I.... But…” snowdrop burst into tears.

“Snowdrop… what happened? What happened to your mother?” Luna asked, putting Snowdrop under her wing.

“She’s gone, Luna! We went to visit this new city called Cameloo, and the ponies were nice and all, but then we went to see the rainbow towers…  They toppled, Luna, toppled over! So she tried to get it back in place by bucking it around in the air, but it didn’t work! So, it fell on… her!”  Snowdrop continued to bawl.

“Oh, sweet Celestia! Snowdrop, when… when did this happen!?” Luna asked, pulling snowdrop closer to her.

“This afternoon. I… I just… “

“Wow. Where are you to stay?” Luna asked.

“I need to find a place of my own… But I don’t know where, or how. I can’t get a job. No one would take me. Especially me, a pony who can’t see the hooves in front of her face.”  She started crying again.

“No. You will stay at the palace. We need your snowflakes, for next winter. You must make hundreds, so you had better stay with us.” Luna said with a finalizing tone.

“Luna, this is too much. I just can’t, it would be rude.” Snowdrop pleaded to her friend, truly modest even in drastic situations.

“No. I know that you need the support, and you would be working to stay. It is not only morally, but logically my right to help you.”  Luna said rationally to her friend in need.

Snowdrop sniffled and laughed at her friends not truly well developed, “touchy-feelyness” and said “Fine. I’ll go.”

                                            …………………

“Whoa. Luna, this… wow! How could you manage to… wow!!!” Snowdrop exclaimed to her friend, feeling and hearing what was around the room.

The walls were painted a light aquamarine, with snowflakes painted around the room. Above her canopy bed was a painting just like her cutie mark. As she walked in, she further noticed in a vibration an elongated closet filled with dresses, coats, and hats all around. And as the cherry on top, she found in the farthest corner, a desk with a painting overhead of a snowflake she had made as one of her early designs.

She flew around the room and made strange clicking noises to help find her way around. She finally put her suitcase on the bed and started unpacking. Luna saw what she had packed and found herself questioning an item in the bag.

“Sorry if it’s rude, but… what is that?” Luna asked, holding it in the air with her magical aura from her horn.

“Not at all! It’s a toy mother made me when I was small. She said it was supposed to be her, for when she was at work…so even when she was gone, she would be with me.” Snowdrop said, quivering a small bit.

“Why do you hold on to it? It is ratty and faded. You can have a new one made!” Luna stated.

“Looks are not a big deal to me, first of all, and you should know that, and secondly, mostly because of sentimental value.” She replied, slightly scared by the little knowledge her friend had of feelings.

“Regal princesses do not feel such primitive emotions.” Luna explained.

Snowdrop sighed, and continued to unpack.

                          …………………

An older, more mature purple and black alicorn princess walked through the doors of Snowdrops old room. It was covered with dust and cobwebs, and found it on the floor of the room. The little doll of Snowdrop she had ordered to be made after she saw what an old toy snowdrop had. Barely preserved under an air locked case, Luna carefully opened it and held it with her magic in the air. She then casted a restoration spell, and held the small toy close.

Only now do I get what sentiment is, old friend. She thought with a smile, and a single teardrop rolled down her cheek.
