A certain purple alicorn paced back and forth across the worm floor of her library. Glancing at the clock every few seconds, she was obviously waiting for something.
"Where is she?" Twilight muttered. Pinkie Pie should have been there by now. She had, after all been the one to volunteer for helping Twilight with the new spell she was testing. Of course, it wasn't an entirely new spell....
It was odd for the pink earth pony to be late; she hated to keep her friends waiting. Spike walked into the main room, claws holding two glasses of lemonade.
"Twilight, are you just going to stand there until pinkie shows up?" He asked with concern in his voice. He handed her one if the glasses. Twilight accepted it and sighed.
"I guess she's not coming..." She said, turning away from the door. And if course, with perfect comedic timing, in crashed the very mare herself, Pinkie Pie. Her hooves were laden with bags as she glomped her friend. As Twilight struggled up, Pinkie set down the bags. Many of the them spilled over, revealing dozens of different party supplies.
"Heya Twi! Sorry Im late, but first Mr. Cake needed me to help finish baking this ginormous batch of cupcakes, and then as I was leaving I realized that I needed streamers since I was planning on throwing a party later..." Pinkie Pie rambled on, only pausing to breathe. Twilight finally succeeded in getting up, deciding to hover slightly in the air.
"Okay, I get it Pinkie. It's okay though, this was the only thing I had planned rp today anyways." Twilight Sparkle interrupted Pinkie's monologue. "Now, you remember my battle with Trixie, right? The one with the magic amulet?" Pinkie nodded exuberantly.
"Yeah! And Trixie took my mouth so I couldn't out-fourthwall her and then she made that giant dome thingy and made Mr. and Mrs. Cake and Applejack and Rarity work for her and was generally a big meanie-pants!"
Twilight nodded. "Yeah, that's the one. I've been working on one of the spells she used, and now that I'm an alicorn, I should be able to do it perfectly."
Pinkie interrupted yet again. "Ooh, which one? Am I going to get turned into a stallion! That would be fun! Oh, or maybe you're gonna duplicate me, like with the Mirror Pool! We could have double the parties!" Pinkie continued speculating until Twilight decided just to take pity on her and reveal it.
"I've been studying the theory of age spells!" She announced. "I haven't gotten to test it yet, per se, but I should be able to get it right since I've studied enough."she added in a less excited tone. Pinkie Pie either didn't hear or didn't care about the last part.
"That is so cool! Does that mean I'm gonna get to be a little filly again? That'll be so fun!" Twilight chuckled.
"Alright, lets get started. Let's go in the lab so if there's a blast, it won't damage the books." She led Pinkie into the lab and positioned her into a predawn square. "now, try not to fidget or move. I don't want to end up hitting something else like with that orange spell." The earth pony nodded dutifully and stood stock-still, barely even breathing. Twilight took careful aim, and channeled the energy into her horn, shaping and weaving it into a spell. "This should just bring you down to filly size, like Applebloom and her friends." Twilight grunted out while focusing her energies into her horn. Finally, a compressed stream of light shot out, streaming towards Pinkie and wrapping her in a bright light, almost like when Rarity was granted wings. It was less cocoon-like though, and through the light an odd thing was happening to Pinkie. She could feel herself shrinking, legs shortening and mane puffing up even further, which should have been physically impossible. Twilight still had her eyes closed, and didn't see Pinkie's progress backwards through her timeline. Therefore, she had no idea how young Pinkie had become as she finished off the spell.
Twilight finally opened her eyes, exhausted from the complex spellwork. "Pinkie?" She looked around, confused. Had she miscalculated? And then Twilight spotted her.
Well, at least I didn't kill her...
