Chapter 1

Breath... just breath. Soak it all in. Let it take you somewhere else. Just relax, and let the world be.

You smiled peacefully, finally opening your eyes in your moment of bliss. You feel the wind blowing through your short mane, making your head feel even cooler than it already is.

You take a moment to look around, watching the world from above. For some reason it always brought a feeling of unmatched tranquility. Just watching everyone, and everything go about their daily task was... well, you couldn't quite explain it.

Maybe it was the fact that you loved seeing everyone so at ease with their lives. The feeling that everything was okay made all the difference in the world. To know that you don't have anything to worry about, to have that security of a good life was truly something to be thankful for.

Of course, that wasn't the only reason you were up here. No, this was a bit of a guilty pleasure that you often saved for days like this. With the weather being so calm today, it was perfect for doing this little exercise. You wouldn't have to worry about sudden gusts of wind, there was no rain scheduled for today and, best of all, the sky was clear of all other fliers.

You look straight down, taking in just how high up you were. It was just the right height needed to do this. If you were lower to the ground it wouldn't last as long. You know the doctors said you shouldn't do it that often, but you really couldn't help yourself.

Ever since you learned about it way back when, you couldn't keep yourself from going out and trying it a few times. When it happens, it always feels like you're in a place no one else can touch. That place, where time could mean everything and nothing all the same time.

Oh, how you miss that feeling.

Taking one last breath, you close your eyes again. You hold it for a few more seconds, and then jump off of the cloud you had been standing on.

It only takes you a few seconds before you hit your max speed. Keeping your wings tucked to your sides, your body easily stream lining through the air. Facing straight down, you can't even hear the wind rush past your face. You're too busy counting the beats of your heart.

With every passing second you start to feel it getting ever faster. The adrenalin is starting to surge, causing your body to start going into overdrive. Your heart is racing now, going too fast for you to keep up with your counting.

Then... everything comes to a stand still.

Well, not fully stopped. But it sure feels like it.

You open your eyes again, being met with that sublime, familiar feeling. Your still dropping rapidly through the air, but it hardly feels like your moving at all. Everything is going so slow... unnaturally slow.

As you continue your decent, you look around at all the things going on. Near by you see a bee floating through the air, maybe flying off to do its duty. You take note of the way it's wings moved. It was so much different then that of a birds or even your own. The pattern was so unique, almost seeming like it was sparse and had not actual form to it at all.

One...

Pulling yourself away from the bee, you look directly down again. This time your eyes catch a small stream of water. The way water moves in it's natural state is amazing. Such abstract form, taking the shape of anything around it to keep moving. A sudden surge of water causes a splash against one of the rocks. It starts out as just a small wave, and then brakes off into droplets. They each descend back into the current, making very brief ripples in the water before quickly being swept away.

Two...

Breaking away from the view once more, you look to one of the nearby clouds. A gentle breeze rolls over it, causing it to be pushed slightly. The way the wind moves the cloud so effortlessly... it's was something else. It's almost like watching white icing being be spread over a cake. Each little crease and ripple being smoothed out by the gentle motion.

Three, Four...

That's when you fell it. The sensation of speeding up. Everything starts to pick up speed, slowly returning to normal. This was the part you always hated. It never seemed to last long enough. Only a few seconds. Even if these were some of the best seconds of your life.

Five, Six...

You don't want to cut it off, but had no choice. You'd be at normal speed again in just a few more moments. Oh well, at least it was good while it lasted.

Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten

All sounds return, you again fell the sensation of the wind rushing past your face, and all things pick up where they had been before.

Letting out a short sigh, you flare your wings out, almost coming to a dead stop immediately. Those things had always been your saving grace when it came to moments like this. Even though you were about average as far as size goes, your wings were pretty big. Someone even telling you once that you rivaled the princess herself. But you knew they were just exaggerating.

Some called it a disadvantage because of the extra weight, but you saw it as more of a blessing. With such large wings, it meant you had to flap less, which meant less energy spent. So, all in all, it evened itself out.

Keeping your wings open, you used them much like a parachute. You don't really see the need to flap, there was a cloud right below you, so there really isn't any rush.

You land lightly on the cloud below, barely disturbing the fluffy white material. As you folded your wings back at your sides, you took in another breath, closing your eyes. You let it out in a long, happy sigh. It may have only lasted a few seconds, but it was always worth it.

Many consider what you did very dangerous, very stupid in the sense of what it may do to you. But when you experienced it so many years back, you knew you would never be able to get enough of it. So long as you knew your limit, you would be just fine. And if it meant you could keep feeling it, you would be happy.

Opening your eyes, you smile at the sight you're met with. The sun's just starting to set.

Maintaining your peace filled grin, you sit yourself down on the cloud, enjoying the view. Very few ponies actually take the time to appreciate the simple beauty of these things. But you always make sure to take the time to stop and look. You know there's a lot more to life than just what's in front of you.

Taking in another breath through your nostrils, you utter one simple word. One word that always described what thought of moments like this.

"Bliss." It truly was. With such beauty, and such a great day to go with it, there is nothing that could spoil the moment.

At least that's what you thought.
