FORGE
The Badlands, a place south of Dodge City and Appleloosa. Separated from the rest of Equestria by the Macintosh Hills, The Badlands is a harsh terrain with little to no vegetation, not even the greatest of agriculturist can find a way to grow and plants here.
However the place is not entirely devoid of life as it is the home of many predators. Creatures big and small roam the badlands in a endless cycle of hunting and surviving. To put it simply here in the Badlands you either eat or be eaten. Most of the weaker creatures has either died out or migrated north, safe away from the more vicious predators.
Now because of that most creatures try to avoid this place and rarely anyone tried to explore the area since the usual results are the explorers never returning. So now the Badlands has been unexplored for over many years cause most ponies believed that there is nothing there.
But the thing is there is something in the Badlands, just near the middle of this land lies a cottage in ruins. It is a simple one floor cottage with a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom. However, this cottage has a secret. Located in the bedroom under the aged clothes cabinet is a entrance to a laboratory. Entering down the entrance leads to a dug out tunnel leading to a large room. The contents of this room contains remains of scrolls, test tubes, beakers, and various other items found in anyponies lab. Before this laboratory was very active, the owner would come down here doing his latest test and research. The various sound from quill scribbles to the casting of arcane magic brought life to room, but now the very same room lay abandoned. The place is now covered in dust and cobwebs from the arachnids that made this lab their new home. The furniture and scrolls are rotted so much they are barely recognizable, remains of beakers and test tubes still resides, with only a few of them broken. N ow at first glance anypony would assume that there is nothing of value in this abandoned lab. But those ponies couldn't be farther from the truth.
In this old room there is one particular object that lies covered in dust and cobwebs. At first glance this object is nothing but a statue made up of steel and bolts. Another unique characteristic of this statue is its glass eyes and the metal rod on its head.
Now most ponies would just dismissed this statue to be a relic of the past and should be placed in some museum, up for display. But what those ponies don't know is that this statue was once alive.
A long time ago before the Equestria was formed the Badlands was once a very pleasant place. The lands was covered with tall grasses, vast forest spread from one end of the Badlands to the other the one. In this land lies the same cottage, but this time not in ruins. The cottage is much more colourful then it was in the presents, and inside the cottage the house is neat and tidy. The table is set and so are the chairs. The kitchen sink is filled with freshly washed dishes and plates, and the bed room is neat and tidy. All in all the cottage is in perfect conditions, however the owner is nowhere to be seen. The reason is because the owner is down in his laboratory doing his latest research.
Down in the tunnel in the well lit room is where the owner resides. The pony, a alicorn is reading a book while simultaneously writing down on his numerous scrolls. The alicorn is a red fur pony with orange hair, with some strand of yellow and have yellow eyes. The alicorn was sitting in front of his table deep in his research when suddenly his assistant trotted next to him. His assistant is the very same statue from the present except it is much more cleaner and new compared to his present self.
The alicorn is named Forge and he is known as a great inventor. Forge was well known for unique talent to create anything. He was responsible for designing new structures and objects for ponykind. All around ponies and even other races come to him and asked him to create something. However, out of all the other creation he made, this statue was his greatest achievement.
The statue is actually a golem created by Forge to at first assist him, but was later given a new duty and ability. This golem's new ability is to create and object at will, the golem can make anything: sword, table, pillows and even food. The only requirement it needs are resources, for example to make a chair the golem gonna need wood, what kind of wood depends on the client's needs.
But where does it store all that resources? Well this guy is a unique kind of golem, cause he can use magic. This golem absorbs the resources into it's body, he does so by turning the resources into energy and store it inside himself and when it is need to create something then he uses up the stored materials and create the object. The golem is also only powered up by alicorn magic and whether or not it was intentional by it;s creator the mechanical being can only be powered up by alicorn magic. The process is simple the alicorn has to shoot a stream of magic into the rod on it's head which will channel down into the rest of the body.
Now this golem doesn't have a name since his creator always refer to him as assistant, and as his assistance the golem follow his creator every command. Everyday his creator would be working on his latest creation and when done command him to scan the invention, so that he remember how to make it and began mass production of same device.
This was basically the typical for this mechanical pony, the only thing that does happen is when his creator has to leave for a few days and order his assistant to now leave this room. When his creator left the golem was left to his own thoughts, in his thoughts it ranges from what his creator will make next to contemplating his own life. He thinks about whether or not he is alive or just some imitation of life, he even wonders if he has a soul or not. He never did ask his creator these types of question and keeps them to himself.
This was a typical day for the servant golem as his creator designed something and the golem creates it. This went on for some time as the golem stands by and awaits his next command. However, there were times when his creator would have to leave for a short period of time. Where he goes the golem doesn't know.
But, then one day his creator never return. The golem didn't know what to do, his creator never been gone this long before. With nothing else to do the golem decides to do one thing his creator told him not to do, go outside the laboratory.
The golem then took the stairs up and found himself in a bedroom. The golem explore the cottage basking in this new environment. He then decides to step outside and saw just how large the world is. The golem never saw the outside world and only saw them through pictures from the books in the lab.
The golem then decides to explore this new world, for hours the golem watched nature unfold itself. He saw animals big and small roaming the land, leaves travelling on the wind, the sun shining down upon him with its radiant ray.
Soon it got dark and the golem decides to head home. When he got there he saw that the door has been open, inside the house the place has been ransacked. Tables flipped over, drawers open, furniture ripped opened. In the bed room it was also ransacked, but what stood out the most was the door the underground lab has been opened. Down in the lab the placed has been stripped of everything, the books, scrolls, blueprints, and inventions were all gone. Leaving nothing but some blank scrolls and broken equipment behind.
The golem wanted to go after the thieves, but realized that he is low on alicorn magic and would shut down half-way. So with no other options the golem stayed in the lab, awaiting the returned of his creator. Hours go by and eventually the golem ran out of energy and shut down. The passage of time has greatly changed the once colourful house into a barely recognizable house. After his shut down, days go by, then weeks, then months, and even years go by and his creator never returned. The inactive lay on the hard ground for many years while collecting dust and cobwebs.
But, then one day somepony reactivated him. The golem felt the surge of magic entering into his head and spreading amongst his other body. The golems glass eyes glowed once again from the magic energy, he looked forward saw the source of energy. In front of the golem were two young alicorn, the one on the right has a white coat with pink mane and is the one providing the magic. The other alicorn on the left has staring at him with wide eyes has a dark blue coat and light blue hair.
Once reactivated the golem stood up and stared at the two alicorns. They both looked at each other and whispered to each other no knowing that the golem can hear them. Then the white alicorn called Tia from the blue one trotted forward and asked for his help.
The two alicorns explained that an evil force is going to threatened their land and to stop it they must use these six jewels called “Elements of Harmony”. The problem is, that the elements are unstable and need something to stabilized them.
The golem took up the task at hoof and agreed to finish it soon as possible, before the two ponies left they asked for his name. The golem pause for a moment and thought of a name since he never had one. The golem responded and told the two his name is Forge.
Soon Forge began work on creating a platform to control the raw energy of the elements. Days passed and Forge could not do it. The elements magic is just to powerful and any platform he makes will be destroyed by the elements. What is required here is a metal that can resist the raw magic, unfortunately there none in this area and he doesn't have enough energy to travel far. He then came to a realization, his body is made of the same materials he needs.
Sacrificing his back right leg, Forge was able to create a vessel to contain the elements. Afterwards Forge created a new leg from a different material to replace his missing one, then with his last bit of energy placed the elements near the entrance of the lab and returned to his previous spot and stood there until he shut down.
Once again he lay on the same ground, inactive, collecting dust. The two alicorns returned and retrieve the elements and left. So now the golem who calls himself Forge lies unpowered in the old laboratory until the day he is reactivated again, but for now it is the long wait for him.
