Broken Strings, Ch. 6: Bright Lights and an Awkward Romance
"Oh my gosh! This is sooooo amazing!," Ivory said, smiling at me, eyes filled with pure pleasure. "Why didn't you ever tell me it was this good?"
I shrugged. "Well, I figured that living in Manehattan, you would've had it at least once. Or at least heard how good it is."
She shook her head. "No way," she said in exasperation. "I've never had cheesecake this good!"
I couldn't help but laugh. "How could you not have had a slice at least once?"
She looked down at the cheesecake, and sighed. "Well, I only moved here about a week before you showed up, so I'm still kind of new to the city. I still haven't seen the Statue of Livery, yet."
Then, a thought hit me. This definitely wasn't going to be just a tour of the city. No, a tour implies that your guide knows where they're going. But instead, we were two ponies who had no clue where we were going. All we had was a list of places and things we wanted to see. We were going on an adventure. To be honest, I think that was really the point where things started going right.
A few hours later, we found ourselves wandering down Mane Street, in search of any sights to see. Of course it wasn't too hard. There were just so many cool and grand things to see. "Look, Bass," my adventure companion cried out. "It's the Fillyharmonic!"
I looked at the enormous performance hall with its giant fountain. "It's huge!"
I felt something press against me, and looked over, and saw Ivory leaning against me, blushing. "It's beautiful."
I turned back to the building, chuckling a little at the swooning mare. "Alright, Ivory, let's go before you start playing with yourself."
She quickly pushed off of me. "I just like architecture is all. I'm not the kind of mare who fondles herself to Architect's Monthly, or anything like that."
I laughed again, and began walking. "Yeah, whatever. We'll just have to steer clear of any lumberyards."
SMACK!
I felt a hoof hit the back of my head, and knock my shades off. I quickly grabbed them, and placed them back on my head, then looked over at Ivory, who was now grinning at me. "What was that for?" Stupid question.
"Because you deserved it, of course."
I laughed for a second, and winked at Ivory. "Well, maybe I liked it."
She glared playfully at me. "Then I guess I'll have to do it again."
"No no. Once is enough."
Well, in the span of about 5 hours, Ivory and I had covered a decent amount of the city, and were now sitting on a bench in Central Park. The sun was setting, and we had a wonderful view from our bench. I remember watching the bottom edge touch the horizon, and feeling a head pressing against my shoulder. At first I dismissed it as Ivory being tired.
"Bass?" I heard a voice coming from the head on my shoulder.
I looked down to see her smiling sweetly back up at me. Remember everything I said about Vinyl earlier? Yeah, fuck that. As I looked into Ivory's sky blue eyes as the sun continuously slid down the horizon, my heart melted. "Yes, Ivory?" I couldn't help but smile back.
"Have you ever heard that if you share a kiss with someone special just as the sun sets, your first wish will come true?"
I kept my eyes on her, but shook my head. "No, I haven't. Why?"
Then I got my answer, as Ivory quickly pressed her lips to mine. She tasted sweet, and she had the softest lips I ever felt. I couldn't help but close my eyes, and melt into her kiss. I didn't even care about wishes or sunsets anymore. In fact, I didn't care about anything… until I remembered who I was kissing. As Big Macintosh would say, Eeeeyup. I was falling for my best friend's little sister. The moment I realized that, I slowly broke away from the kiss, and looked back at the beautiful mare, who was blushing, and smiling at me. Then, it hit me. I stopped caring that she was Mic's little sister, and leaned back in for another kiss.
((Author's Note:)) Sorry for making this one such a short chapter, but honestly, I think it gets it's point across rather well for being such a short one. Plus, I really pulled all the stops out for this one. Kinda to make up for the rookie-ass mistake I made when I posted chapter 4, and forgot to take out the placeholders in the song. Yeah. I fucked that up pretty bad. I've been beating myself up all day for it. Well, I hope you like the chapter.
