Chapters You lie in bed, ever so slightly awake as the beams of light from in between your blinds catches your eyes. You squint drowsily and roll over, now too awake to fall asleep again but too tired to get up. Last night was probably the weirdest night of your life. Last night, you had watched every single episode of My Little Pony. For as long as you have known of the fandom, you had hated both it and the show. What had started as "I'm gonna watch this and hate it, i know i will" to "I CAN NOT STOP WATCHING THIS AWESOME SHOW." Surprised at your self and at how good the show actually was, you start to get up from your bed. Pushing the covers to the side, you see your laptop open still to the last episode of the fourth season, one that you had enjoyed way more than you care to admit.
You find yourself wondering what could be in store for all of the ponies next season? Would Rainbow Dash finally join the wonderbolts in full? Would the CMC get their cutie marks? You couldn't wait. You drowsily walk into the kitchen and pull out some cereal. You look at your box of Aplle Jacks and laugh where you previously had sneered. Your gaze slowly drifts to the clock. 8:30... 8:30!? You were almost late for school! It was nearing final exams, you couldn't miss a second of class for fear of failing! You quickly scoff down the bowl, grab your Backpack and sprint out the door. You grab your bike and start peddling as fast as is humanly possible. While riding, you can't help but feel exhilaration as you speed down the street towards your school. You tie up your bike outside and sprint in. You check the time. 8:50, good, you still have time. You walk to your locker and quickly open it to see the terrifyingly bland interior. Now that you actually liked the show, you contemplated putting some RD stickers up, and maybe a picture of a muffin or Balloons, something still MLP bu not so spaghetti inducing as a plush or poster. You hear a knock on the locker door next to you and close it to see your friend Stephen staring at you.
"Sup man? How you been?"
"Uh, alright..."
"You feeling OK man? You seem kinda nervous this morning. Something happen last night?"
You definitely did NOT want to tell him you were now liking MLP instead of outright bashing it.
"Nah, man, just didn't get much sleep. Can't miss school though, what with exams and all"
Swish. God damn you were good.
"Yeah, gotta get those hours, man. I once fell asleep in class."
"You fall asleep in class all the time!"
"But this time, i was in the middle of presenting something in front of the class."
"You're a fucking idiot, you know that?"
He playfully punches you and you head towards your first class.
At lunchtime, you and Stephen sit together, apart from the rest. You weren't exactly nerdy, you weren't a jock, you didn't belong to any clique or club, you kind of just hang out. You snack on your leftover steamed vegetables, now terribly Luke warm and disgustingly mushy. You ate them anyway, for a lack of anything else to eat. Stephen sips at his drink, slurping as it reaches the end. He points over at a group of jocks sitting about five tables away from us.
"It's game time man, you ready?"
Stephen and you would always play a game where you tried to tell what the other group was talking about, whoever came up with the funniest idea won. You smile at him slightly and look behind you.
"Sure man, you're on. "
As a trade off for you letting him insult him on his height, you always let him start first.
"They're excited about the game coming up. They can't wait to show their boyfriends how far they can throw a ball."
You smile slightly and try to think of something witty.
"The one on the left is stressed out because he got someone pregnant. The worst part about it is that his mum will get really angry at her daughter for not wearing a condom."
Stephen laughs loudly at that.
"Oh wow, dude, fuck me, that was good. Gonna have a hard time besting that. Ok, how about this. The one in the middle is about to file a complaint to the council for not letting him get married. They sent him a letter saying that it is not in state law to let him marry a cartoon horse."
He laughs ecstatically at his own joke and looks over at you. You try and force a snicker, but after last night, you feel like you'd be laughing at your self, to an extent.
"Hey, whats wrong man? Usually that kind of shit gets you in tears!"
"I dunno man, I’m just not feeling it"
"OK, now i KNOW something happened last night. What was it, you get rejected again? Wait, don't tell me that YOU got your sister pregnant!"
"No it's that that, you twat."
"Then what is it! Tell me! I'm your best friend, we've been friends ever since preschool, you can tell me anything, i can assure you i won't laugh"
"Oh you're gonna laugh, alright..."
"No way man, i promise you, twenty bucks, i will NOT laugh"
"Ok fine. You wanted to hear it? This is gonna be the easiest twenty bucks i've ever made. Last night, i watched all of the episodes of My Little Pony. And, i really liked it."
Stephen looks at you, unblinking. You start to sweat, getting really nervous about what he's gonna think of you.
"Dude."
He says that in one of the most serious ways you have ever heard him speak.
"*I* watch MLP. And *I* like it. I just couldn't tell you because i knew how much you hated it. I just went along with the jokes whenever you made them, laughed and then tried to change the subject!."
You stare at him not unlike how he stared at you before. Well, this was going to change a lot in your friendship.
You ended up spending the entirety of the next few classes and lunch talking all about the show. You got a couple of funny looks from other people who also still thought that you hated the show, but you didn't care. You had a new found freedom and joy, where all previously you had done was make crude jokes and made fun of people. Not that you changed in that aspect, you just had a lot more to talk about with Stephen rather than just that. You discussed who your favorite pony is, your favorite episode, your least favorite episode, predictions for the next season, anything, you name it. You just can't get enough of this show. You invite Stephen over to your house after school to stay over for the night. You're going to have a season 2 marathon and you couldn't be happier to be sharing it with your best friend. You and Stephen walk into your house after school, throw your bags onto the floor and head straight into your room. You instantly turn on your computer and open up your folder full of the episodes from season 2. It's about 12 at night when you finish the finale and you and Stephen go get something to eat.
"Dude, so how about that. I still kinda can't believe that after you pretended to hate the show that much that you actually loved it."
"Well i kinda did hate it. I just didn't realize how good it was until i had actually tried it."
"Fair enough."
You yawn a bit and start heading back to your room with your newly prepared cocoa and toast. You decide to watch a couple more episodes before you head to bed. While watching one of the episodes, specifically the one where the CMC go around finding out the stories to how the ponies got their cutie marks, you spy something in the chat log. Something about the [redacted] board being offline. You had been on [redacted] many times before but had no idea that they had a board dedicated entirely to MLP. You show it to Stephen and decide to check it out together, just to see what it was like. You open up your browser, head to the [redacted] site and click on the "Pony" link.
You are instantly greeted with something that you had never seen on a [redacted] board before. A picture of a gray, featureless pony standing on a hill is shown to you aas well as a message that pops up.
"Create your own OC... OC?"
"Oh i know what that is. A lot of people create their own ponies. They use it for stories and they make it somewhat like their own personalities. I guess you need to use this to get into [redacted]. I've never been here before, so i dunno."
It kind of makes sense that he knows more about the fandom than you.
"Well, I’ll let you go first"
You say, handing him the keyboard and mouse.
"Hmm lets see... I guess I’ll make him...Red... with a Lime green and purple striped mane. There we go!"
You look at the pony that he had just created in a very short time. The colors seemed to blend perfectly, they didn't seem off or weird at all. You pull out your laptop and start to work on your character.
"OK, so I’m gonna- Wait, you can make it different genders?"
"Yeah, there must be some people who are girls and like MLP, duh."
"Yeah, I’m gonna make mine a girl, just as a joke. It'll be hilarious to see these nerds fumbling over someone they think is actually a chick!"
You open up the color wheel and make her mane a pale blueish white. You give the mane a straight but still frizzy style, color it minty green near the roots and make it fade out to white near the tips. Somehow, this color scheme felt... Yours. You were sure that someone else had maybe a similar scheme to this, but this one was yours alone. You press the next button at the bottom of the screen and it leads you to a page that reads "What will your cutie mark be"
Of course, how could you forget that all ponies had a cutie mark? It asks for you to list your talents in a box and you start to wonder what you would put there. You weren't good at sports, you only played games a little bit, you didn't read a bunch of books, what could your talent be? The only thing you could think of was..
"Ah, yes!"
You type one word into the box: "Speed"
You remember back to how exciting it was to be riding down the path on your way to school this morning, the wind in your hair, the sheer speed of it was incredible. You pressed "ok" and a cutie mark appeared on the flank of your character. It was a pair of wings, shining pale purple and green with a halo positioned right above it.. It was perfect. Not a single line seemed to be out of place, not a single color could have fit as well as these did. You look over at Stephen. He had finished his as well, a small gear and a flower, connected together.
"Wow" He says, mouth slightly agape.
"That is... weirdly good."
"Yeah... same here..."
You see a next button down the bottom of the screen. You click it and it takes you to a screen with three boxes. In the left one, there are a pair of wings, the center one is a picture of a pony/human arm flexing it's muscles, and the right one has a picture of a glowing unicorn horn. Ah, so you can choose to be a Pegasus, unicorn or earth pony!
"An earth pony? Why would anyone choose something boring like that?"
Stephen looks like he's thinking.
"Well, they have sort of semi-super strength, plus they can run for miles on end and not get tired!"
"Well, i guess that's pretty cool."
You can't take your eyes off of the wings though. The thought of flying through the air excited you so much that you didn't think that there was even a doubt you would pick the wings. You clicked on the wings and a pair popped up in just the right place on your pony. It was weird, seeing your complete pony. Somehow, you felt that there could be nothing different to it. It was both completely perfect and completely... You. There is one thing that you still have to do and that is give your pony a name. You decide that since it is a flying pony, it's cutie mark has wings AND a halo, the most fitting name you can think is Icarus. You again look over at Stephen, he's decided to give his pony a horn and is currently typing a name in.
"Cogsworth."
"I know it's kind of a weird name, but it just feels... Right. It doesn't feel like i should call it anything different."
You can't help but agree with him. Your name feels right, on so many levels. You both click on the "finish" button at the same time and a message pops up on the screen in front of you both. "Congratulations!" it reads. "You are one of the first 10 people to use the OC creator on this site! You will be receiving your prize over the next week!"
Over the next week? What the hell did that mean? Maybe you would be rewarded with a special icon for the board? You were way too tired to think, but you both click accept at the same time. Suddenly, you jolt back in pain as you feel a spark of electricity come from your mouse. You hold your hand out, looking at it, wondering what the hell that could have been. Stephen looks over at you as well, holding his hand with his other.
"What the hell was that"
"I have no fucking idea. Maybe we tripped the power for having too much shit on at the same time. It's getting late, maybe we should go to bed soon"
"Yeah, feeling pretty tired right now."
You shut down your computer and move sleepily towards your bed. You lie down on your bed and immediately fall asleep. While asleep, you start to dream. In the dream, you are Icarus, strolling through Sugar-Cube Corner and saying hello to all of the other ponies. You felt strangely at home and happy. You wish that this could last forever. Unfortunately, it is just a dream and you wake up, the light from the windows shining into your eyes just as it did last morning. As you slide out of bed you can help but notice a tingling feeling and the sense of pressure in your fingers and your toes. Oh well, maybe you slept funny last night. You walk to the kitchen and can't help but feeling off balance a little bit. You reach for a knife and see something quite peculiar. A collection of blueish white fur growing on your hand.
What the hell was this? Was it some form of fungal infection? Mold on your hand? You rubbed the patch on your stiff hand only to see that there was even more fur on that hand than the other! A sneaking suspicion started to grow in the back of your mind. You walked back into your room where Stephen was sleeping on a blow up mattress and trying not to wake him up. You lean over and turn his hand around and see that it was clear of any patches of fur. You sighed in relief only for your mind to wander back to the fact that you still had fur growing on YOUR hands. You rubbed it again.
“Yep, definitely fur. No doubt about it.”
You could feel your stomach grumble and decided that even though this weird occurrence couldn't go ignored, you still needed to eat. You opened the fridge and pulled out some bacon. You couldn't wait to cook up some wonderf- UERGH! What the hell was that damn smell!? It smelt like death and off milk mixed together. The bacon must be really out of date! Like, two months out of date, which was a little weird because you thought your mum had only bought it a week ago. You start to hear Stephen get up from bed in your room and grab out two bowls out from the drawers for cereal. Just as he's about to walk into the kitchen, you remember what was on your hands and swiftly jam them into your pockets. He stumbles in walking with a very slight limp.
“Morning man. Whats for breakfast?”
“Uh, cereal.”
He looks at the two empty bowls on the table.
“Invisible cereal?” He says jokingly, limping over to sit down.
“Um, dude? Can you make the cereal for us? I really have to go to the toilet.”
“Oh OK, thanks man. Great hospitality as per usual?”
You speedily walk into the bathroom and pull your hands out of your pocket. Had the fur spread even more than when you last looked at it? You stretched out your fingers a little bit. They felt so damn stiff and weird, as if you had been holding on to something tightly for an hour and had only just let go. What the fuck was going on? You grab your mums winter gloves and put them on to cover up the growing fur on you hands. You didn't want to show Stephen what was happening just yet. You walk into the kitchen, your feet seemingly getting sorer and sorer as time goes on, and sit down at the table where Stephen had prepared both of your breakfasts. You sit down and Stephen stares at you as he sees that you are wearing gloves.
“Gloves, dude? It's like, the middle of summer!”
“I dunno, my hands just got chilly”
“Aha, ok then... Whatever you say.”
As you eat, you begin to find it harder and harder to move your fingers. You try to pick up the spoon in your hands but it falls into your bowl the first two times you do it. You try with the other hand as well but get even worse results but in the end, you give up and settle with holding it clenched in between you forefinger, ring finger and middle finger. As you both eat your breakfast, you notice that Stephen has been regularly scratching at his feet over his socks and stretching his legs out from under the table.
“Hey man, you feeling alright?”
"Yeah man I’ve just had sore feet all morning, Hands as well. I dunno maybe i-"
He freezes with his hand down his sock. His eyes widen in confusion as he continues to feel around the inside of his sock.
"I'll be back in a second."
He jumps up from the table and hobbles as fast as possible to the bathroom. Is he getting the same weird fur thing you had on your hands? Somehow, the only explanation that crossed your mind could be that he was also growing this odd fur on his feet as well. You had sore feet, he had sore feet, you had sore hands, he had sore hands. You hear a muffled yell from inside the bathroom.
"What the FUCK?"
He limps in to the kitchen from the bathroom, his feet showing and covered with pastel red fur. He stood on his toes, heels sticking unnaturally into the air.
"What the shit is going on? Did you feed me some weird shit last night or something? Because for as long as I can remember, I’ve never had damn FUR."
You think for a second. "Maybe it's a rash?" you try to convince yourself. Although as unlikely this explanation was, it was still more likely than anything else you could think of. Wait a second, his has spread to cover his entire foot now... you rip off your glove to expose the furry white/blue skin beneath,
"You too? What the shit is going on, dude?"
Some thing was a little bit off as well. As you looked closer, you started to notice that your hand looked a little fatter than usual and your fingers were thicker and shorter.
"You expect me to know? I have the same amount of knowledge as to what is happening as you do."
"Shit, i can hardly stand on my feet any longer."
You help him walk into the living room and both sit down on the couch. The changes to your hands seem to be accelerating as time goes by. Even though you only looked at them five minutes ago, your hands have already gotten more cylindrical and your fingers shorter. You can't help to notice that the same has been happening to Stephens feet.
"Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit. What are we gonna do? I think we need to call an ambulance."
"No way man. You really think that they are gonna be able to help... This?
You motion with your changing appendages to Stephens.
"I think i have a general idea of what's actually going on right now, dude. We're turning into those characters we made last night."
"Are you fucking serious? That's ridiculous!"
"Think about it for a second, man. We both got that message saying that we had won a prize for being one of the first ten people to use the character creator, right? The message said that the prize would be delivered OVER TIME. Doesn't that strike you as odd?"
"But dude... Fuckin' ponies? That shit doesn't happen everyday. It's not like my mum will just think "Oh woops, looks like my son is a pony now. Darn, I guess.", No of course she won't! Cos this doesn't just HAPPEN!"
"Calm down, alright? Panicking isn't going to help at all."
"Speaking of mums, when is yours coming home? We can't let her see us like this."
You shake your head
"Don't worry, my mum's not back from holidays for two weeks. Plus it's a long weekend and Wednesday is a public holiday, so we don't need to worry about school."
You could feel the pressure rising in your hands as you could visibly see them change, right before you. Stephen seemed to be too busy watching his feet morph before his eyes to realize the same was happening to you.
“Oh god... This is so fucking strange, dude...”
Your fingers became shorter and shorter, so much so that they started to blend in with the widening base of your wrist. Your wrist and forearm started to reshape and become closer together in width. As the fingers on your hand began to disappear entirely, the nails from your now non existent fingertips blended together and flattened out on the base of your "Hand" forming a discernible hoof. It was weird, these changes didn't seem to hurt at all, like you would expect if your bones were being morphed, pulled and contorted to form new ones. The only thing you felt while the changes were occurring was the pressure and tension as your skin slid around and stretched to suit your new muscle and bone structure. Stephen was staring, mouth now fully open wide as a look of intrigue and horror was plastered across his face. The changes continued up your arm, forming your arm into a definitive foreleg. Stephens leg started to change shape as well, his foot growing longer and longer, his knee pushing itself backwards and creating the weird curve present on the back legs of all of the cartoon ponies. The changes were starting to slow as the fur grew on all of these new areas that had changed, eventually coming to a complete halt at your shoulders and near the bottom of Stephens now bright red legs. As the changes stop, you and Stephen look at each-other, then back at your transfigured limbs, inspecting the new changes and marveling at how abnormally natural they both looked. The fur was slightly matte but still silky and smooth to the touch. You clopped your "hooves" together, surprised at how dexterous your arms still were after all of these changes (or should you be calling them forelegs now?)
"Ok. I admit that not calling the ambulance was a good idea now."
"We've gotta find out why this is happening. We can focus on the "how" later."
You sit there for a second, rubbing your hoof against your head.
"We gotta check out that [redacted] board. That spark that we felt must have somehow triggered this"
Stephen hesitates for a second to point out how stupid that sounds but quickly remembers how utterly unbelievable what was happening now was and nods in agreement as you stand up and start walking towards your bedroom where the computers you were using last night were still on.
"Umm... dude? A little help here, man?"
You swivel around and see Stephen still sitting on the couch, looking at you then looking at his new legs.
"Oh shit, right."
You put your arm under his and help him to stand up. He walks forward with a sort of strange gait, but one that only makes sense, seeing as his recent change in anatomy robbed him of a vital tool for balance. He manages to get the hang of it faster than you thought and now needs you only to lean on for balance as you continue on to the bedroom. You sit him down on the bed and walk over to the table where the laptop is. You manage to pick it up by resting it under your arms and supporting the back with your hooves. You hand the laptop to Stephen, seeing as you are now unable to use the keyboard or mouse with your changed appendages. He scrolls through the board looking for anything out of the ordinary but he finds nothing. Just when you were about to give up, you spy something weird. A picture of a man but with a blue pony-like arm. The thread reads "Anybody else win a "prize"?"
You both look at each-other, then click on the thread to see what was going on. A lot of people had posted on the thread telling him that his "cosplay was good" or that he was a fag, normal stuff for a thread like this. The OP didn't post anything else on the thread but a link to a private chatroom with a password. Stephen clicked on the link and a password box with a hint came up. It read "What was the first new thing you noticed this morning?"
You thought for a second. The first thing you saw when you had reached for a knife was...
"Fur"
Stephen typed in "fur" into the password field and then tapped enter. A chat window came up to show that one other person was online.
"What should we say?"
"I dunno, just type hello"
He typed in the message and hit send. A few seconds passed and a message popped up, written by the only other person in the chat room.
"Are you turning into a pony too?" It read.
"Yes, we think so." Stephen typed "My friend is too. Do you know what do we should do?"
He messaged the two of you back again a few seconds later.
"I don't know. I seem to be turning into the pony i made when i went on to [redacted] last night. It said that i had won a prize."
"Same for us."
"I'd recommend trying to get ready for being a pony. We don't know if this is permanent or not so we could be stuck for a while."
Stephen looked away from the computer with a worried stare.
“He has got a really good point, dude.” Stephen frowned a bit and turned away from you. “Hey, listen! This isn't the kind of thing that we can just wait to blow over or completely ignore. I have a bad feeling that this shit is only going to get worse and worse. You could see different ideas zipping back and forth through his mind, electrons almost audibly firing off as his brain worked at full capacity.
"Ok" He said quite affirmatively. "We need to find out where we are going to go. Somehow i don't think anyone is going to believe us if we tell them that we are "turning into a pony from a fictional TV show made for children." They'd probably just get us sent to some government facility for testing or a crazy hospital. That doesn't seem very appealing to me"
You agreed. You could just imagine little you as a pony, strapped up to IV's and tied to a table as you waste away slowly.
"Well we can't stay here for much longer. It's already gonna be hard for us to get out of here and get somewhere else without being spotted. You have huge, weird shaped legs and i have these abnormally long... Also legs, i guess."
"Hmmmm... How about we head up into the camping grounds? It's not too far from here, plus no-one really goes there much anymore after that rock slide crushed a cabin. We could probably stay in one of the cabins that are there, they're completely abandoned now. It's also a hunting free zone in case somebody actually mistakes us for an actual animal."
"You keep forgetting that we still can't actually get there without being spotted. It's already the middle of the day and i really don't want to stay here and wait for tomorrow in case more of our bodies changes."
"How about your mums car?"
"What? Are you fucking crazy? My mum will kill me!'
You realize how irrelevant what you just said was. Your mum was still going to freak, no matter what you did.
"Yeah, OK i get it, that was dumb. But neither of us know how to drive a car."
"Isn't it an automatic? How hard can it be! Just point and shoot."
"I guess..."
"Anything's better than just sitting here and doing nothing. What about that other guy? We should tell him where we are going. Maybe he would want to come with us."
You nod and he starts to type in a couple of messages to the other guy detailing where you were, where you were going and how you were getting there. He messages you both back telling you that he was only a few towns over. He still had control over his hands and legs and was going to meet you two at one of the camp sites once he had talked to the other people who had been affected. He was only going to wait one more day so he could tell any other people affected to do the same as him and you or if they couldn't, to go for a similar plan. Stephen logs off the computer and starts to stand up. You help him a bit, but he seems to be a small bit used to having hooves for feet and manages to walk at a slow pace without your help.
"We need to pack food, sleeping stuff, spare light bulbs for the cabin, anything you can think that we might need. My mum bought a whole bunch of food for me before she left for the holiday, plus we still have heaps of seeds left over from when my mum had started that veggie patch that never got anywhere."
"Good going man. We probably will need to provide for ourselves now that we can't exactly go to a store to buy stuff."
You start to empty out the cupboards of food and pile it into the back of the car. Stephen didn't have good enough balance anymore to carry any heavy stuff so you left it to him to get the seeds and gardening tools. Though you both wouldn't have any hands by the end of this, you could still use them, right? That is, if magic actually works. You managed to transform this far, it'd suck massive ass if you were neglected magic, or at least if Stephen was neglected magic, seeing as he was presumably going to have a horn. On your last trip to the car, carrying some canned beans and jars of non perishable items, you trip over and drop the jars straight onto the concrete.
"Fuck!" you shout as they shatter all over the floor, spilling their contents everywhere. You push yourself up with your hoofs and take off your socks to see that fur had started to spread on the tops of your feet. You needed to get to the camp sites and fast, you couldn't tell how longer you would be able to blend in as a human. Stephen hobbled in from outside to see you on the floor and checking out the fur on your feet. He looked at the palms of his hand and you could see his eyes widen as he spied the small patch of red growing there.
"That bag was the last of the food. Help me pick up the cans and we can get the fuck out of here."
You are almost finished packing the bags into the car when you remember something. You rush inside as fast as your knobbly little feet can take you and open the door to your mums room. She has a whole bunch of veterinary books, farming books from when you had the veggie patch and books about the flora and fauna of the surrounding area. This could be great in case food runs out and you need to look for edible vegetation in the camping site. You pack the books into the back of the car and head to the front. Stephen is standing, arms holding him up next to the car.
"Who's gonna drive, dude? You don't have arms and i don't have feet."
"I dunno. I suppose you need a little more control over the pedals than the wheel. Plus, i can stick my hooves in the holes of the wheel and steer like that."
"Fair enough" Stephen said and walked over to the other side of the car. You open the car door by sought of wedging the handle between your two hooves and pulling. You get Stephen to put the keys in and turn on the engine. You quickly find out that the car moves even when you don't have your foot on the accelerator as it jerks forward and bashes into the front of the garage door. Stephen looks at you, gritting his teeth.
"You still alright to drive, dude?"
"Yeah, just didn't expect that. In case you also didn't notice, I also have hooves."
You open the garage door and drove out on to the road. For the the first ten or so minutes you were a bit wobbly and got beeped a couple of times by other drivers but quickly got used to driving the car. You were cruising along the road heading straight for the mountains and the camping site. All was going well.
"So dude, isn't your mum going to be worried that you've gone?"
You snicker and shake your head.
"In case you hadn't realized in the last 12 years you've known me for, my mum doesn't exactly care about me. She probably would care more that we stole her car and her food than that i was missing. What about yours?"
"I dunno man. She'll probably file a missing persons report, the school might eventually do it for you as well. I just hope she's OK without me. The rest of the ride is silent, apart from you having weird coughing fits and having to clear your throat, not unlike when you were going through puberty and your voice was changing. You reach the entrance to the camping sites without any problem and drive up to the booth at the entrance. A sign on the booth says "This booth is not manned. Do not enter the camping site without calling the number on this paper." Of course, you don't call it. You definitely do not want anyone knowing that you're staying up here. You drive up the rocky path towards the cabins area. No one has been up here ever since one of the cabins was crushed in a rock slide and hopefully, no-one would come up here to see that you are now living there. You drive into the car port of the cabin furthest from the road and turn off the engine. Luckily, the cabins are far enough from the road heading up to the other campsites that lights can not be seen when they are on in the houses. You can see that the changes have spread up Stephens legs a little bit more as well his hands having started to morph as yours did. You look down at your own feet, the toes now having completely disappeared and your foot had began to elongate. You tell Stephen to pick up the pace. There was no telling how much longer you would be able to stand up and support your weight. You search under the mat in front of the door and lo and behold, they hid the key there. Glad that you didn't have to break open the window, you get Stephen to unlock the door, seeing as he still has more movement in his hands than you although his dexterous ability is still declining. You unpack all of your gear from the car and bring it inside.
You don't bother organizing what goes where, you just had to get it all in before the changes started to accelerate again. You trip over a couple of times and Stephen loses hold of a few things that he was carrying using his fingers but you manage to get everything in with relatively little incident. You walk into the "family room" of the cabin and sit down, releasing a huge sigh of relief. You inspect you changing foot as Stephen sits down next to you. His hands hand just started to form into hooves, not unlike your feet. You bend over and see that the fur had now completely spread all the way up your leg and stopped at the top of your thighs. You examined your feet as what happened to your hands preceded to affect your feet. You winced in disgust as your knee buckled backwards and assumed a new position further up you leg. You looked over at Stephen to see that he was staring at the side of his thigh. A faint cutie mark resembling the one he had gotten with his OC started to raise up.
"Dude. This is way too fuckin weird. First, horse legs, then a cutie mark? Wait, does this mean I’m gonna get a horn too? I guess that’s... Kinda cool..."
"Yeah man, i wonder if I’m gonna get wings? And would they work? Could i actually fly?"
You really hope so. You weren't just filling in random things when you put in your cutie mark description, you really did love speed. Even when driving the car, you felt a little excitement.
You look at your two pairs of legs. They were actually around the same length now. you wondered if you could...
Yep. You lent forward and could perfectly walk on all fours. It was extremely weird though, seeing as your neck was still that of a humans and you had to arch it to see properly. You stumbled a bit but quickly got the hang of walking like this. Until your neck changed, it was way too much of a hassle to walk on all fours so you'd just settle with walking while holding on to things for the moment. Suddenly, Stephen winced, stood up, and ran into the bathroom. He came out a few minutes later.
"Dude, i have.. I have a... A... Horse dick"
"Woah, too much informa- Wait..."
It had only just clicked. You were becoming your characters that you had made. So far, every single detail had been accurate. And you had made your character a female.
"Oh shit dude, you made your character a..."
You jumped up, ran on all fours into the bath room and slammed the door shut behind you. You pulled down your pants as fast as you could with your hooves and wiggled out of them as fast as possible. He was sad over his divorce with princess Cadence and had come to talk to you for guidance. It had only been one night that you had been in your new house and you already broke one of the devices you thought was going to be quite useful in the times to come. The cabin had no oven at all, so this was all you had to cook with, or rather, *had* to cook with, seeing it was now completely fucked. You huffed and looked disappointedly at the broken microwave. Maybe you wouldn't need to cook now that you were going to become a... A pony. Ponies enjoyed raw vegetables, right? You weren't sure, seeing as you weren't becoming any normal pony, you were becoming a freaky marshmallow cartoon pony, certainly not suited for this world, or for any of it's food for that matter. You needed to start to become more honest with yourself. You had no idea if there was any coming back from how you were right now. I mean, your current situation seemed quite permanent. How could you even possibly be able to turn back? If you ever did, how long were you going to be like this? Again, you sighed and started to walk away from the microwave, its door now hanging on it's hinges.
Walking had become a complicated thing. You didn't want to completely succumb to the changes yet so you tried to walk, however awkwardly, on your "hind legs", using the furniture and walls to support yourself, Not to mention the new, yet somewhat small addition to your chest throwing you off balance even more. Taking slow, wobbly steps forward, you made your way in to the cabins living room and tried to sit down. You heavily fell down, causing you to mutter an effeminate "oof". You instantly felt heat rise in your cheeks, embarrassed at the sound you had just made. It was even harder to come to terms with the fact that you were now essentially a complete woman rather than the fact that you would probably soon be completely a short pastel coloured pony. That was odd enough, but a girl? Or, you suppose, a mare? Do you think you could get preg- NO. SHUT UP! You force the image way down to the depths of your mind. Even so, you could start to feel yourself getting slightly worked up again so you try to push the thought away and look around the room instead.
You and Stephen had just piled all of the things you had brought in with you onto the floor at the edge of the kitchen. More work for you to do... Oh well, it would have to wait until all of these changes were done with before you were going to sort that stuff into proper cupboards. You also observe that the cabin has a small CRT television in the corner of the room. After another quick look around, you see that the remote has been left on the table. Precariously, you lean forward and smack your hoof onto the TV’s power button. It miraculously turns on the first time only to greet you with static.
Disappointed, you turn off the TV and lie down on the couch. Lying on your back is now hard because of your tails position so you roll onto your side to find that that position was also strange and awkward feeling. Gazing down at your weird pony legs, you try folding them a couple of different ways before giving up. You sit back up and bring your legs onto the couch with you. Hmmmm... That position was much better than before! Why hadn't you tried this before! You pulled your front legs up on to the couch and shuffled ninety degrees. Sitting with legs folded under your body like this and your forelegs in front of you definitely felt right now. You giggled at the thought of what a weird sight you must be now with a human body, human head and pony limbs. You had just started to lie down when you heard some footsteps from the other room and Stephen shout "Dude, what the fuck happened to the microwave"
You got to your fee- uh, hooves and balanced your way into the kitchen. Stephen was standing rested against the bench looking at the broken microwave.
"Care to explain why-? Oh, uh, care to explain why the microwaves door is now hanging on a thread?" He had faltered a bit when he said that after he saw you and remembered your more drastic change. His eyes turned away from the microwave for a second to look at you but rubbernecked when he spied something behind you. Your tail twitched involuntarily.
"Wait a sec..." He twisted his head around a couple of times and looked behind him.
"Whoa... A tail? Well, it wasn't really unexpected or anything, but damn..."
You giggle effeminately again but silence your self. Damn dude, I gotta stop doing that... You can feel the heat rising to your cheeks and can tell that you're blushing so you try to quickly divert his attention.
"Look, I’m sorry man, I’m not used to these new hooves. They're really fuckin' strong!"
"It's alright dude, just be careful. I'm gonna take a look at this and see what I can do. Probably not much, seeing as I have hooves, not hands, but whatever... I can still try I guess"
You stretch your back out a bit, it's a bit sore, you probably slept weird last night. Stephen starts separating the pieces on the bench and (you think) organising them into some kind of order as you walk back into the family room. When you finally sit down, you sigh in frustration as you can now feel a pressure starting in your bladder. God fucking damn it, I already need the toilet? You push yourself to your hooves again and walk slowly into the hallway toward the bathroom. Walking like this was such a pain, if only you could... You looked behind to see if Stephen was looking but he was busy tinkering away, so you drop on all fours and start trotting along with relative ease. It was assuredly still an alien form of transportation, but it was much more natural feeling than walking on two hooves.
Now pretty happy with yourself, you are once again faced with the problem of sitting on the damn toilet. How where you going to do this? Sitting normally didn't work, what about sitting *over* the toilet? You dragged over the bathroom stool and rested your forelegs on that while you balanced your back hooves on the rim of the toilet. It felt comfortable enough for the moment and maybe you'd figure something else later, but now all you wanted to do was go to the toilet. Wow, this was so strange... It was so different not having anything hanging in-between your legs. The biggest downside to this was that you had no way of aiming besides moving your hips around and trying to keep your back hooves stationary. You finished off with surprisingly very little mess and stood there for a couple of more seconds as the rest dripped out. Suddenly, you felt two short and sharp pains in your back, causing you to seize up for a second and fall off of the bowl. What the hell was that? It felt like something had stabbed you in the fucking back! You can't look at your back very well from this position so you fall to all fours, make your way to the sink mirror and turn your back to it.
"Holy fucking shit."
That is all you can say as you examine two furry nubs on your back that were rapidly growing in size. You reach your hooves around your back and touch them a bit as their growth slowly starts to accelerate. They're pretty sensitive and feel like nothing you've ever touched before. Small feathers start to sprout from the elongating nubs and assure you of what is coming next you groan as you feel the skin around the area stretch almost to a breaking point but then become lax and shift to accommodate for your growing appendages. The nubs grow into long bones, almost to an arms length and then begin to slow down. A little more shaping and the addition of long, soft and sleek powder blue feathers, and your new wings are complete. Staring wide eyed, mouth slightly agape, you flutter the wings around a little. How ever strange this was, you felt very much in control of them, almost as if you had them from birth. You raised them straight up, and then brought them down with surprising might. Maybe too much might because immediately are launched up and on a slight backward angle, smacking yourself into the top corner of the room.
You let your wings down to your sides and plummet towards the floor where you collide heavily and exclaim in pain.
"Ah, shit! My fucking leg!"
You try and lift yourself to your feet but in that semi-crash landing, you seem to have twisted your ankle on your fore-hoof. As you examine it, you can hear some clopping of hooves on wood as Stephen approaches the bathroom and knocks of the door.
"Hey, are you ok in there? I heard two banging noises then you shouted!'
"I'm ok, I just think I might need a little help walking out of here"
"Ok, I’m coming in."
He opens the door and your eyes are immediately drawn to the most recent change to Stephens body. A pale red horn atop his head.
"How did you even hurt yourself? Did you slip on water or something" His eyes look down towards the wings folded up to the sides of your body.
"Oh. Ok then, I see"
You blush again and he puts his fore-hoof under your injured one.
With Stephens help, you walk, now not caring that you are both on all fours, to the couch in the living room. He helps you get up onto it and immediately goes off to find some ice from the freezer. As soon as he leaves the room, you feel a cool breeze rush in from the open window. It felt good to have wind blowing on you and was abnormally calming. You closed your eyes in bliss as you felt the wind pass over your neck, back, wings, and legs and crotch. Wait a second... OH SHIT! YOU WEREN'T WEARING ANY PANTS AT ALL! What had Stephen said anything? More to the point, why didn't you notice anything? Was becoming a pony even affecting your mind to not be embarrassed from wearing completely nothing? I mean, the ponies in the show wore nothing besides clothes that were just for looks, would you need clothes? You peer down at your crotch and notice to your relief that under all of the new fur, your mare-hood was not much more than a vague shape and a faint slit. Well, you certainly *felt* less embarrassed to be naked out here, but you had to test this out to see if it really was fucking with your heads. You decided to not mention it at all to Stephen and see what happened, if he reacts in anyway or just treats it as normality like you had. You sit in the recently discovered position and wait for Stephen to come back with the ice. After a couple of bangs and noises from the kitchen, Stephen finally trots into the living room, proudly showing off his amazing feat of pulling the ice block out of the freezer. You giggle at how proud he is (STOP FUCKING GIGGLING) and he smugly places the ice pack on your injured hoof. So far so good though, in regards to your nakedness.
"Now what does the pretty lady say?"
You instantly lose all sense of joy and try to take in what he had just said.
"Ummm... Did... Did you just call me pretty, dude?"
"Oh shit, man... I guess I did... I'm really sorry, I know you still feel bad about this whole change. Even though I’m changing, I know that your change is a little more drastic than mine... Sorry again... I'll just leave."
You feel a little bit of guilt rising in your throat. You didn't mean to make Stephen feel so bad about himself. It wasn't his fault that you had turned into a girl, he shouldn't have to feel guilty for it.
"No, I’m sorry, Stephen, it's fine. I gotta get used to it sometime soon. I can't have you keep calling me "Man" and "Dude" any-more, seeing as I’m neither of those."
This seems to have perked him up a bit. He turns back to you and gives you a toothy grin.
"Well, what would you like me to call you?"
"How about Icarus? I mean, that *is* what I called my character. Seeing as we're now taking their place, it kind of seems right to use their names as well. My old name never really fit me anyway. How about you?"
"Well, I named my character Cogsworth, but that kind of seems too formal if you say the whole name. So, uh... How about Cogs?"
You nod.
Cogs... That was his name, and yours was Icarus. It was going to be a little hard to get used to calling each other these different names, but you'd be acclimatised soon enough.
Whoa, what the hell? It was suddenly really hot in here!
"Hey, uh, Cogs, could you open the other window for me?"
"Huh? Why? It's damn freezing."
"What how can you be cold?"
Oh wow, this was weird... It wasn't any normal form of heat you were feeling. This sort of felt like a fever heat, but... Good. Suddenly another breeze blew through the room and wafted a particularly strange but nice smell up to your nose. Where had you smelt this before... Oh god. You quickly fold your legs over, blushing the most you think you ever had in your entire life.
"Hey, could you get me some ice?"
"Yeah, sure Icarus. Oh, what’s that smell? Smells... Nice."
You blush even more as he starts to sniff the air, slightly angling his head towards you...
"Please? I really feel terribly hot."
He snaps out of his trance, nods, and clops on into the kitchen. You quickly look around the room for something to cover yourself up with. Looking around the room, you spy the blanket you had brought in with you from the bedroom. Oh, no, you couldn't use that! He would know something was up! With no other ideas in mind, you run back into your room, past Cogs holding onto a tray of ice with his mouth.
"Hhy! Whhre yoo goin'?"
Slamming the door behind you, you jump onto the bed and pull yourself under the covers. Why was this happening to you? Why couldn't you even control your own body! Tears started to build up in your eyes and you slowly sobbed, the sick feeling of sadness and pain welling up in your throat. You weren't a girl, you were a guy! This wasn't normal! The heat below was becoming more and more unbearable as time went on, your nethers even dripped a little onto the beds sheets. You almost touched it again, but pulled your hoof away and cried even more.
"Hey, Icarus." You can hear Cogs talking from the other side of the door.
"Go away!" You cry/shout, "I don't need anything."
"Icarus, I’m coming in."
"No!"
He pushed open the door as he walked in. From under the blankets, you could hear him quietly sniff again. You could tell that he was starting to get an idea of what the smell was coming from.
"Icarus... Oh god, I didn't know. Is it really that bad?"
"Yes!" You shout. "And you being here isn't... Oh god..." Were you like this because of Cogs? No fucking way, he was your best friend, and still was. You were going to get through this together. Your mind brought up images of you and Cogs living together in this cabin, having a family, but again you try to push them away. How long could you resist this burning! It was driving you crazy, to the brink of simply screaming until it stopped. Oh fuck it. Fuck it all to hell. You threw off your sheets, completely revealing yourself. As soon as he saw the sorrow in your eyes, he began to tear up as well.
"I can't... I'm.. so sorry, Icarus" He began to cry and walk away from the room. You couldn't just let him leave. Letting him leave would mean that both of you would be sad. You reach out your hoof and lay it on his shoulder. He turns around, eyes glistening with sadness. You pull him close and give him the tightest hug you have ever given someone, your hooves wrapped around his back. He freezes for a second or two, unsure of how to react, but then hugs you back. Somehow, this hug made everything feel better. The tears of sadness had turned to tears of joy and relief. Maybe living like this with Cogs wasn't going to be that bad after all.
After your brief but satisfying hug, you pull away , keeping your hooves on his shoulders. You smile at him and he smiles back with a smile that causes your heart to skip a beat.
You and Cogs walk out of the bedroom, your lust suppressed for now. You weren't sure when it would strike again, and now that you had revealed some sought of feelings for Cogs, you weren't sure exactly how it would play out. Walking back into the kitchen, you notice something different. The microwave! It was fixed!
"Oh, wow! Did you do this?"
It's Cogs' turn to blush this time
"Uhm, yeah. I guess I did"
"Whoa! How? It wasn't that long ago when you could hardly put together a lego house, let alone fix a completely wrecked microwave!"
"I dunno. I think it may have something to do with my cutie mark. I mean, I really was interested in the way things worked, I just was so clumsy with my hands before. Even without my fingers, I feel much more calm and collected fixing stuff than I did when I was a human. Or at least, more than 50% human"
You gaze over to his flank and see that his cog and flower cutie mark had completely materialised. That made you think about your own cutie mark and staring backwards at your backside, you see that the wings and halo that made up your cutie mark had also appeared.
"Holy shit, that is fucking cool as hell!"
Cogs smiles at you again but his smile falters and he narrows his eyes.
"What's wrong? My cutie mark? Does it look bad or something?"
"No, just hold still for a second."
He walks closer and stares at your flank for a second.
"Oh no. God damn it, it's happening again already?"
"What's happening? Whats happening again?"
"Look at my hips."
You stare closely for a couple of second and notice something. The pale red fur on his flank has started to slowly spread to him stomach area.
"Huff... Again? This shit better hurry up be over with. I'm starting to get tired of being surprised at the changes."
Cogs laughs a lot at this.
"Whoa dude, wasn't *that* funny"
"Sure it was."
You both smile at each other for a bit but stop when the changes speed up again. The fur is rising up your stomach and is only about an inch away from your chest when you suddenly feel your chest muscles loosen up a lot. You look down and see that your breasts have started to shrink and move down your chest a bit. It kind of makes sense, ponies don't even have boobs, or at least, don't have boobs where humans do. Even so, it saddened you to see your new playthings leave so fast after arriving. Oh god, did you just call them playthings? Snap the fuck out of it. Your breasts moved all the way down to your crotch, shrinking in size as they went until they were nothing bigger than two shapely lumps above your mare parts. Suddenly your back audibly cracks and you fell to the floor in surprise. You could feel the shifting of bones and skin as your body rapidly changed from that of a humans to that of a pony. Oh god, this was one of the weirdest fucking things you had ever felt, second only to when you had switched genders. Up until now, you had just looked like a human with strange limbs, but you were quickly changing to become a fully fledged female pony. The fur progressed all the way up to your neck and began to slow down, your chest morphing a little bit more before settling into it's rightful shape and place. Ah, thank Christ, it seems that you had stopped for now. Wait, wait, wait, no it hadn't! The fur growth had slowed down, but you could feel a very slight tingling in your head. Don't tell me that my head is already changing as well! The growth of fur started again and quickly engulfed the entirety of your now transforming noggin. Scratch what you had said before, THIS was the weirdest thing you had ever felt! Your head began to stretch, warp, and enlarge itself to suit character with the rest of your body. Your eyes got bigger, increasing your field of view and allowing you to see as your hair grew and changed colour before your eyes. Your vision became even crisper than it had been before and after a few seconds of absolute silence, your ears kicked in as well and started to swivel around the room, picking up the tiny pinpricks of noise. A final stretching feeling, followed by a pop as your nose changed into a pony muzzle, and you were done. Both you and Cogs stared at your new body for a couple of seconds, somewhat intrigued, somewhat impressed at how good you looked fully transformed. You looked up at Cogs, tears again beginning to fill his eyes. This did nothing to help your situation and you well up as well. You walk over and throw your arms around him, giving him another tight hug.
During the hug, Cogs begins to softly cry and his tears run down his face, wetting the new fur on your shoulder.
"I can't believe this... My family, my friends, my... Everyone!" Cogs began to sob and sputter "I'll be alone forever! I'll never see them again!"
"Don't worry, dude. It's not that bad. We may be alone, but we'll always be together, no matter what. I promise you that."
"But my mum! What about her? She can't handle this on her own. I can just see her now, crying that her only son has gone missing... I... It's all my fault."
"No! It's not your fault! You didn't choose for this to happen to you, it was forced upon you. Don't blame yourself. Maybe if we manage to meet up with the other people who had been turning into ponies, we'd be able to figure something out. That guy we talked to on [redacted] said that he was going to wait a bit for the others to see his thread, so they might turn up some time soon. Maybe if we came out into the open and showed everyone what we had become, they wouldn't dare to lock us up somewhere."
"Yeah *sniff* You're right." He smiles through his tears and wipes his eyes with his hoof.
"We have each other. I'm not gonna give up on you, or my mum. We'll find someway."
You both hug again, differently from before though. This hug was tender and sweet, It made your stomach fill to the brink with butterflies.
"Oh god, Icarus, I... I love you..."
You pull back a bit, not out of the hug, but enough to face him.
"Wait, dude, did you just-"
"Yes. I did. And you know what? It's true."
The butterflies in your stomach go into overload and explode through your mind. You never thought in a million years that you would ever feel this way about Stephen as you do now with Cogs. In a brief moment, you press his lips to yours and give him a deep and passionate kiss. He seems surprised at first, but quickly kisses you back. This was so strange. You had kissed another girl before, but it didn't really mean anything. You didn't love her, she was just someone at a party. This was new, different, meaningful. Was this the right thing to do? I guess that I’m not technically gay now, seeing as I’ve had switched genders, you think to yourself and that thought was enough instentive make you want the kiss to never stop.
Inevitably though, the kiss does come to an end. He stares at you, lids half open and smiling happily. You're glad that you are now able to think of him as Cogs and not Stephen. Although you were still you, and he was still him, you were different, both physically and mentally. Another breeze picks up through the room and you both shiver this time. The unbearable heat from before was over for now and you both agreed that it was late enough to go to bed. You could finally sort the food out in the morning. You both walked together to your separate rooms and smiled to each other as you closed the doors, the remaining butterflies in your stomach still a-flutter. You clop slowly towards your bed, get up, pull the sheets over and slide your eyes shut.
It's sometime early in the morning when you wake up. You're freezing cold and your teeth are chattering away violently, so you sit up and look around the room for something, anything to warm you up but find nothing. There were sleeping bags, but you had forgot to bring them out of the car. A though comes to your mind, and you get up out of bed, walk into the hall and softly open the door to Cogs' room.
"Are you still awake?" You softly whisper at the entrance to the room. After a few seconds, you hear a bit of movement and shuffling of sheets in the dark.
"I've been to cold to stay asleep. Keep waking up."
"Do you, uh, do you mind if I stay with you tonight."
A few seconds pass.
"Yeah, sure."
You walk up to the side of the bed as he holds onto your hoof and helps you up. You slide under the sheets and lay next to him facing the wall. He timidly puts his hoof on your shoulder and you shuffle back against his body in acceptance, smiling softly and putting his arm around you. He puts his muzzle to the back of your mane and gives you a small kiss.
"Sleep well Icarus."
Content again, you close your eyes slowly. With the body heat of each other warming you both up and calming your nerves at the same time, you quickly fall to sleep and sleep like a rock for the rest of the night.
The New Ponies on the Block
For the third time now, the sun has woken you up by shining brightly into your eyes.
“Are you fucking serious? Again? I'm starting to think that Celestia has it out for me.” You laugh a bit at your own joke but no-one else laughs.
“Cogs?” You look behind you, but to your dismay, Cogs isn't there anymore. Last night certainly was a different experience for both of you. There was no doubt in either of your minds that your feelings for each other would continue to be expressed, just what would it mean for your future? If you ever turned back into a man, would you still want to be with Cogs? Well, you did kind of think of him as your partner now, so a simple issue of gender wouldn't sway you that much would it? Things were just moving so damn fast, it was getting hard to keep up. It was only a few days ago that you had been a normal human boy, living a normal life with only your best friend to keep you company. Now, you were a female cartoon pony, living a secluded life in an abandoned camping ground with your best friend as your “boyfriend”. All of this just seemed so surreal and alien.
You hop out of bed, this time remembering the fact that you had a completely different anatomy and landed squarely on your hooves. You smile, glad at the fact that you were getting used to having four legs and clip clopped happily into the hallway. You hear a huge crash from the kitchen accompanied by grunts and shouts from Cogs. You rush into the kitchen to see what was causing all that noise and your jaw drops to the floor like a stone.
“HELP ME!” Called Cogs, as he was running around the room trying to settle down boxes of food and cans that were flying around the room. What the hell was going on? Was the food possessed? Was it suddenly learning how to fight back? Cogs grits his teeth as he hops onto a bag of oats that flies at the wall and explodes all over the floor. There was something weird that you just couldn't point out (besides the obvious fact that food was flying around the room). Cog's horn... It was glowing! He must be using magic on the food!
“Cogs, it's you! You're making the food fly!”
“I know! I tried to use magic to lift it up but I’ve lost control! I don't know how to stop levitating them!”
In a panic, you look around the room again. If you didn't stop it now, all of the food would be ruined! There seemed to be only one thing that would stop this.
You reel back a bit and smack Cogs in the side of his muzzle with your hoof. Immediately, all of the things that had been floating around the room drop to the floor. Cogs' face was a mix of surprise, happiness, pain and confusion. You smile at him and raise your hoof to inspect his face for any bruising, but he recoils away thinking that you were going to hit him again.
“Pffft, stop being such a pussy dude, I hardly hit you at all. Plus, that was the only way I could have thought to snap you out of it.”
“I guess I have that to thank you for. Still, you hit a lot harder than you expect. Remember the microwave yesterday?”
Oh yeah. You forgot about that. You shrug it off and give him a playful push, which he gives back. You both laugh as you look around the room, the aftermath of the fiasco spattered on the floor, bench and walls.
“Oh hey, guess who is not cleaning all of this up?”
He laughs again.
“Yeah, I get it, I’ll clean it up. But did you see me? I was using ACTUAL MAGIC! I didn't even think it was possible!”
“Yes, but we also didn't think that turning into cartoon ponies was possible.”
“Heh, you're right. So, you gonna help me clean or not?”
You sigh and reluctantly help him clean up.
It was difficult to move the cleaning cloths and the broom with your hooves, but you managed to do it pretty well after some trial and error. You are about to finish sweeping it all up when you accidentally step on the end of your tail and trip over. In the middle of your fall, you instinctively flap your wings to stop you from hitting the floor but again underestimate your strength and fly quickly halfway across the room. Cogs jumps in between you and the wall and you both roll over, laughing at your clumsiness. At the end of the roll, Cogs ends up lying on top of you, face to face. He's about to stand up, but you put your hooves around him and give him a peck on the nose. He tenderly smiles at you again and kisses you back, closing his eyes and blocking the entire outside world off for a couple of seconds. Your kiss is abruptly ended though as you hear a knock on the door.
Holy shit, who the fuck was that? Did your loud noises attract the attention of the park rangers? Did somebody report you to the police? Did they see your car and think someone was staying there illegally? You and Cogs exchange extremely nervous glances and grit your teeth, you clumsily stumble to your hooves, trying to cause the least amount of sound possible (a feat which proves impossible, as your hooves make loud clacking noises on the kitchen tiles) you scramble around the room a bit trying to think of what to do next, exchanging a couple of glances with Cogs who looked just as clueless as you. Maybe it was the guy from [redacted]? But maybe it wasn't. If you opened the door and it wasn't him, what would happen? What to do... Whoever was at the door knocked again a little more impatiently than last time. You walked up to the door and slowly raised your hoof, looking back at Cogs one more time, the pale red and green pony standing there with a worried look on his face. He breathes deeply and nods his head, motioning towards the door. You open the door slowly and peer around the corner of the door.
Oh thank fucking god. A short, grey maned, orange furred, earth pony colt stands before you, smiling nervously.
“Hey... Uhm, is this the right place?”
You smile at him and nod as he walks in the door. He looks around the room and seems to be overly happy with the cabin.
“Wow! I thought that you two were desperate for a place to live! This place is great!”
“Yeah I suppose it is.” You actually were pretty lucky that there was such a good place for you and Cogs to stay at, seeing as you just as likely be still stuck at your mums house, completely unsure of what to do next. Cogs walks over to the new pony and holds out his hoof to introduce himself. The new pony puts out his hoof as well but both laugh a bit when they realize that they can't shake hooves.
“Hey man, my name is Cogs, and this is Icarus. What's your name”
“Oh, uh, my name is Jane.”
Cogs looks at you, a bit confused.
“He means your new name. We've kind of abandoned our old names, since we aren't really them anymore. If you're uncomfortable using your characters name, that's absolutely fine.”
“Oh well, my characters name is Daisy Ditz, but you can just call me Ditz, if you want.”
Cogs walks over and stands by your side.
“Umm, you show yourself around a bit, I gotta talk to Icarus.”
You wave him on through to the kitchen and as soon as he's out of sight, Cogs starts to whisper to you.
“Um, dude? I think that you should talk to Ditz later, maybe help him get used to these changes.”
“Yeah, I’ll show him around, help him get-”
“No, that's not what I mean.”
“Well what do you mean?”
“I mean that he's the only one of us that has gone through the same kind of change as you.”
“We've all turned into ponies. You, me, him, all of us.”
“I meant that he's changed gender.”
What? How did he know he had changed gender?
“How do you know? Daisy Ditz seems like a pretty non gender specific name to me.”
“Don't you remember? He said that his name before he had transformed was Jane.”
How the hell did you not pick up on that before? You kind of just saw his other name as not really him and dismissed it.
“Oh.”
“Yeah, so I suggest you talk to him. I know it's not exactly the same, but you have managed to adapt pretty well. Maybe he can teach you a bit of what it's like to be a girl. You know, what to take care of...”
“Yeah I get it man, would you shut up? Let's wait a bit, don't want to overwhelm her. Him. Whatever.”
Ditz had only been here for about an hour and already he was chatting away with Cogs, happily helping get the rest of the stuff stored and packed away into their rightful places and was now drinking a bowl of milk with you and Cogs while talking on the couch.
“So me and Cogs have been friends for years. For the longest time, I thought that he HATED mlp! He always used to make fun of people for watching it and calling them all sorts of things. One day, he starts acting all weird and next thing you know, he was telling me he loved the show!”
This makes Ditz laugh and I chuckle along and blush.
“Little did she know that I had watched the show the entire time.”
“I know, I shouldn't have knocked it before I tried it. Kinda makes me think though, if I hadn't watched it, would we be here? It was only because of the show that we checked out the mlp board in [redacted] anyway.”
Cogs is silent for a few seconds.
“I guess so, but there isn't much point moping now. We are where we are and we are what we are. Plus, I can think of a couple of added perks to our new forms.”
Does he mean you? The smile he gives you proves he means you. After Cogs said this, you look over at Ditz and see that he's a little uncomfortable. You gotta get Cogs away so you can talk to Ditz alone.
“Well, I think we better get back to work. Can you go find those seeds we brought? We gotta plant them in the garden out front pretty soon, this food we have in storage isn't gonna last for ever.”
He nods and walks out of the room. Ditz was about to get up and follow him but you stop him just before he does.
“Can I speak to you for a second? Alone?”
He follows you into the bedroom and sits down on the bed next to you.
“What, uh, what did you want to talk to me about?”
“I wanted to talk to you about your changes.”
He seemed a bit confused and nervous.
“We've been through the exact same changes, haven't we?”
“Well, not the exact same changes. Me and you had... Another change as well.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean in the gender department.”
Suddenly he goes rigid. His face flushed instantly red and you could even see the beads of sweat roll down his forehead.
“It's OK, Ditz, it's OK. Remember what I said? I changed as well.”
“B-But, you're still a girl! You didn't change!”
“That's the thing. I wasn't a girl before. I was a guy. A very guyish guy too.”
That seemed to calm him down a lot.
“So... So you became a girl? But you just seem so...”
“Girly? I know, it took me by surprise too. I never expected myself to accept these changes so openly, but you know, go with the flow, right?”
“So before you changed... You and Cogs weren't... As close as you are now?”
“No way, man. He was definitely just a friend, no homo what so ever. I think that the fact we had been friends so long made it easier for us to become closer once I changed. Plus, I’ve been having a lot of problems that he has helped me deal with. You know... Girl problems.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah...”
Even though the pony you were talking to was physically a man, you still felt like you finally had someone who you could relate to. Someone that you could talk to about your other problems and not have to be embarrassed about. In fact, you couldn't help admire him out of the corner of your eye as you sat there. Uh oh. Speaking of other problems, maybe Ditz was sitting a little too close. Time to segue this conversation.
“Uh, maybe we should go help Cogs with the gardening now”
“Sure. I've had lots of experience with plants before, maybe I can help too!
Phew. You keep forgetting how good you were at this.
You and Ditz help Cogs to round up all of the different tools you have and put them outside. On the last trip, you and Ditz walk out the back entrance of the house to see an amazing sight indeed. Cogs was doing magic again! And this time, it wasn't running rampant around the kitchen. In fact, it wasn't running rampant at all! A small wooden rake floated about half a meter above the ground in front of Cogs and was bobbing up and down slowly.
“Holy shit, man! That's awesome!”
Cogs looks at you quickly.
“What?”
Instantly, he loses concentration and the rake falls to the floor.
“Ah, god damn it.”
“Crap, sorry man. I didn't mean to make you drop it.”
“Oh, it's alright babe.”
“Ecchhh, don't fucking call me babe... That name makes me sick.”
“Ahaha OK then, anything for you “babe”.”
“Fuck you, dude.”
This brings out a small laugh from Ditz. It was good to know that you and Cogs were doing a good enough job of making him feel welcome. If these changes weren't hard enough for him, it would suck even more to be plopped right into an inhospitable environment.
Ditz proves to definitely be a useful addition to your group, he wasn't lying when he said he had experience before. He was digging and planting like a pro. Where it took around twenty seconds for us to plant one seed, Ditz had planted five.
“Holy crap man, your name certainly suits you well, and not the Ditz part. It's a shame you aren't a woman or Daisy would fit you very well.”
Ditz seems to brighten up when you say that.
“Uh, thanks Icarus. It's really nice of you to say that. No-one really used to compliment me before.”
“Well that's because they obviously didn't realize how cool you actually were! I'm really glad that you're here. It would be bland without you.”
Ditz' smile lights up the entire field and for the rest of the day, he works double speed.
It was getting to be sunset when you finished planting the garden. It was assuredly larger than you thought before hand and if any more ponies came later on, you would definitely need more.
“Now as long as we water these plants regularly and tend to them, they should turn out perfect for eating.”
“Awesome man! Can't thank you enough for all this help you've been giving us. This would have taken ages to do alone.”
“So dude. We do have one spare room in this cabin, but there are other cabins in the camps site. If you like, you can stay here for tonight and find another cabin in the morning? Whatever you choose, we'll let you do.”
Ditz looked pretty nervous about this. You could tell that he wanted to stay in this cabin, especially on his first night staying here.
“Uh, well, if you really don't mind, I think I’d like to go into another cabin. I don't want to be a burden or anything.”
“Oh you wouldn't be a burden at all, but what ever you want is fine with me. Just letting you know it gets a little cold in the night here, so you might want to rug up. Did you bring anything with you here?”
“No, I really feel bad for being such a moocher, but I have nothing with me.”
“Really? How did you get here?”
“I, uh, I walked...”
“Wow, really? How far did you live from here?”
“About a town away.”
“Oh my god...”
He had walked an entire towns length to get here? That means he was walking through he woods while all of these changes were happening to him! Not to mention that you, inside a house with sheets on, had been freezing cold last night. Last night, Ditz was in the middle of the fucking forest! You could just imagine him, huddled beneath a tree, shivering and unable to sleep, the branches looming over him.
“I'm so sorry! That's it, you're staying here tonight. We're going to treat you the best we can. Cogs, go get the sleeping bags from the car and give one to Daisy Ditz. I'll go make you a hot cup of cocoa.”
“Oh, thank you so much. This is the nicest anyone has ever been to me. Ever!”
Ditz was starting to tear up so you moved forward and gave him a tight hug. Sometimes, the only thing you need to do for someone is be nice.
Again, you, Ditz and Cogs sat around the living room, drinking hot chocolate milk and telling stories. Ditz was wrapped up nicely in his sleeping bag and you and Cogs sat cuddled up together under the same blanket. All night, you chatted about your previous life, embarrassing moments, moments that made you proud, and your friends.
“I do miss my friends...” Ditz said. You could just tell that he was thinking about how he would probably never see them again.
“But, you know... I'm sought of glad. They weren't really my friends and know for a fact a couple of them only hung out with me because the school counselor had told them too. I'm just so happy that you too have accepted me so much.”
“Well, we're both alone here. If we didn't share the love with you, who else would we have to keep us company? We wouldn't have it any other way.”
You finish you're third cocoa's and lay the mug in front of you. It's strangely calming to watch the mist from the mug rise up into the air and evaporate. Ditz had already closed his eyes and fallen to sleep and when you looked up at Cogs, he had fallen to sleep as well, his arm still draped over your shoulder and his chest slowly rising up and down. You put your head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat thump along and help you fall to sleep. A sleep that you wish you had never had.
Your dreams were full of nightmares of all varieties. In one of them, you were being carted off to a medical facility to have tests ran on you. They plucked your feathers, tore your skin, shaved your mane off and opened you up to look inside. You were screaming the whole time but no-one heard. In another part of your dream, you watched as a group of people mercilessly beat Cogs on the floor. You shouted out for help and pleaded for them to stop, but all of your requests fell on deaf ears as they just beat him and beat him until the only movement from him was the impact of bloody fists and boots on his flesh. Suddenly, you are ripped from sleep, head sweating profusely, practically soaking the sheets. Someone was knocking on the door. Oh thank god, you think as you get up from the couch and walk over to the door. The pony we talked to on [redacted] must be here now. You open up the door, ready to greet whatever pony stood on the other side but instead, a huge muscled man stood before you, smiling maliciously and wielding a metal bat. Frozen in terror, the man swipes forwards with the bat and hits you straight in the head.
You gasp awake again panting and sweating. Oh god, what a dream... Cogs was still asleep next to you, a soft smile on his sleeping face as he moved in his sleep and tightened his hug around you. Ahhh... You had never known what it was like to feel safe until he had first hugged you. All worries just seemed to fly out of the window. That was until you heard a car drive into the campground and smash into a tree. Oh jeez, what the hell was that? Was it the park ranger? If so, why did he crash into the tree. You shake Cogs and he blearily blinks his eyes.
“Huh, what? Hmm?”
“Cogs, there's someone outside. They crashed their car.”
“Oh shit. Who do you think it is?”
“I still think it's unlikely that a park ranger would come up here again. If they hadn't even had one for a year, why send one here now?”
“Maybe it's the [redacted] dude.”
For the second day in a row, you hear a knock on the door. Cogs motions for you to open the door, so you sit up, walk over to the door and open it up to see a blue unicorn standing in front of you. This time though, you have to look down at the pony to talk to it.
“Aww, it's just a foal.”
“Hey, how about you shut up?”
“Woah, little guy. No need for hostilities. We're all in the same boat here.”
He shrugs you off and walks inside, huffing as he goes. He was certainly acting like a kid having a tantrum.
“So, this is the place? When you talked to me on [redacted], I certainly expected something smaller. Maybe even a little more dank.”
You blink. This was the [redacted] guy? He was just a kid?
Cogs showed him into the living room and sat him down next to a still sleeping Ditz. He brought in a bowl of water and oats for the new pony to eat but he pushed them away.
“I had no idea when we talked to you online that you were this... Young.”
“Well, I wasn't. I was a 45 year old man with a successful business heaps of money and a family and all the shit you could ever ask for. Mlp was my one escape from the stressful life I was living. I had no idea that it was going to make... This happen.”
“Oh, I’m sorry dude.”
“It's fine. In a way, I'm kind of... Glad that this happened. I mean, I hated the way I was living, I’m sure that my wife was cheating on me and my kids hated me. I feel like this is a new start. A way for me to start again.”
“And another good thing about it is that you're young again!”
Cogs smiled and put his arm around you.
“Yeah, look on the bright side. At least you didn't become a girl.”
You look up at Cogs and give him a playful shove.
“Oh shut up you.”
The new pony seemed confused about the situation for a few seconds.
“You know what? I don't wanna know. This is a new start for all of us. Even if it is in this irritating pony body.”
“Oh yeah, we forgot to even ask you your name. How rude of us. What would you like us to call you?”
“Well I don't think that I really fit my old name anymore... How about you call me Archie? When I named my pony on the website, I didn't really put in much effort to naming it, but that seems good enough, right?”
“Well, that is your name. I wouldn't want to call you anything else.”
Cogs shifted a little bit and took his hoof from your shoulder.
“So, did you manage to get in contact with any other people who were turning into ponies.”
“Yes, I got in contact with four others but only two besides Jane who-”
“She's Daisy Ditz now, sorry.”
“Ah, OK. Yes, so besides Daisy Ditz, I got in contact with four others. Two who lived in other countries and two who lived a few days drive away. They said that they would be waiting until their transformations were complete before they drove here. They didn't want to cause any crashes while driving, so I believe that they took a sensible approach.”
It was really quite strange to hear such a young pony talk in such a professional manner. You know that he had been a forty five year old man before, but still.
“So, where would you like to stay? We don't have any more space in this cabin, but you can head to one of the other two if you'd like. I'd stay clear of the other cabins closer to the rock wall though, a couple of cabins were crushed by a rock slide a while back. That's why this park is closed and we're free to stay here with little fear of being discovered.”
“Good. At least we don't have that to worry about.”
Ditz woke up not too soon after Archie had arrived. He seemed surprised that there was suddenly another pony sitting beside him, but luckily, he put on a friendly demeanor despite his apparent disdain to his situation.
“Wow! I never expected a cute little foal to stay with us!”
“For the last time, I’m forty fi- Ugh... You know what? Forget it. I'm a foal, OK?”
He audibly shrieks in happiness and wraps Archie up in a hug. Although Archie looks pretty uncomfortable, you can see that he's enjoying all the attention he's getting. It was great that all of the ponies that you had met so far had been so nice. Archie still wasn't too sure, but you could tell that he was swaying pretty fast and your friendly natures were rubbing off on him. Thankfully, you had finished all of the preparations for staying here yesterday and you could use this day to relax. Archie and Ditz had hit it off very well and were talking about all of the different things that they could do better as ponies.
“Yeah, I may be very good with plants now that I’m a pony, but I guess that comes with the package. I'd give anything to have a horn like you, though. I mean, why wouldn't you want magic?”
Archie seemed taken back and excited at what Ditz had said.
“You mean I can actually do magic?”
“Yeah, sure. Cogs was doing a bit yesterday. Why don't you go outside and help him learn?'
Cogs nodded happily and started walking into the back yard, Archie plodding along behind him.
“So Icarus, how about you?”
“Hmmm? Me?”
Ditz looked over at your back and inspected the two feathery appendages attached to it.
“Yeah, your wings! Do they, uh... Do they work?”
“Yep! I haven't actually tried it more than twice though, and both of them were accidents.”
“Why don't we go outside again and see how well you can fly?”
It was a little nerve wracking to have Ditz watching you as you tried to fly, especially because of how bad you were doing at it. The first time, you put in way too much effort, flew straight up and fell straight to the floor again. The second time, you put more effort into your left wing than your right and flipped over. This was the third try now, Ditz was watching you intently and cheering you on.
“Come on Icarus! You can do it!”
As nice as it was to have Ditz cheering for you, it still put you off a bit. You readied your wings, stretched your legs and pumped them down. Your hooves suddenly lifted straight off the ground. You had learnt from your last mistake and didn't stop flapping there. You took up a steady beat with your wings and came to a slow hover, just bobbing up and down on the spot.
“Holy shit! I'm flying! I'm actually flying!”
Ditz' jaw was wide open in awe, seeing a colorful cartoon pony fly in real life was something you definitely didn't see every day.
“Go Icarus! Woohooh!”
You pumped your wings a little harder and lifted yourself up into the air even more. Now how were you going to move forward... You tilted your wings a little forward and instantly started to slowly travel forwards. You experimented a little with turning at this small speed before speeding up yet again. You repeated the process of speeding up then practicing turning and rising, then again, then again. Eventually, you had got to such a speed where you had to squint your eyes to see because of all the wind blowing in your face. The view from here was amazing and the speed even more so. When you looked down, Ditz looked like nothing but a waving speck. You came to a hovering stop somewhere high up near the cloud layer. Hmmm... Was it like how it was in the show? Could you actually touch clouds? Usually Pegasus’s could, but this wasn't a show, this was real life. Then again, Cogs now had magic, so why not? You reach out a hoof and scrape it through the clouds and it started to blow away from your hoof. It gave pretty little resistance, but still was a lot more solid than a cloud should give. I wonder... You fly above the cloud with ease and go in for a slow hovering landing. You expect yourself to fall straight through but instead, your hooves plomp down softly and cause the cloud around you to distort and be pushed a bit away. The cloud didn't seem cold like you thought it would either. It was kind of warm, and very soft, like walking on a sea of mattresses. You jumped around on the cloud, mist puffing as you went along. The clouds also had a similar springy consistency like that of a mattress and this allowed you to bounce in between the huge pillows of cloud floating around. It was like a huge playground just for you!
After a while, you got a little tired of bouncing and came in for a landing below. Ditz wasn't on the ground waiting for you, but no wonder. You had been up there for an hour, so he probably got tired of waiting and went inside. You follow his example and walk into your cabin, wiping your hooves as you went in. The warm air of the inside of the house rushed up to meet you and you sighed in relief. Wait, warm air? That was strange...
“Oh hey, Icarus, come on in!” You hear Cogs call from the living room.
“Hey guys, sorry I was out so long, this flying thing is just amazing.”
“Yeah, me and Archie saw from the back of the house. It must have been pretty cold up there.”
“Yeah, speaking of which, how did you get this heater?” A small, makeshift heater sat on the coffee table, blowing a pleasant warm breeze around the room.
“Well, Archie completely totaled his car trying to park it.”
“Yeah, it was a little hard reaching the pedals with my short legs.”
“So I pulled out the air con and fixed it up to work outside of the car. I also hooked it up so it's running of the main power instead of a battery.”
It seemed that everyone was pulling their weight pretty well around here. Suddenly, Ditz' eyes widen and he jumps up from his seat.
“What's wrong Ditz?”
“I forgot to water the field today. Gonna quickly do that, one sec.”
You have an idea.
“Wait a second. I think I have a solution for this...”
It worked in the show, why wouldn't it work now. You run out side and launch into the air. You think you hear Cogs call out “Where are you going”, but you aren't sure because the wind is blowing past your head so fast that anything they say becomes inaudible. You fly straight up to the layer of clouds and speedily start to spin around one of the cloud in a circle. You begin to tighten you turning circle, pushing the cloud, compacting and compressing it, making it darker and darker. Abruptly, the cloud thunders and begins to pour rain like you were squeezing a sponge. You smile, happy at your accomplishment and start to drag it closer to the floor. You position it over the vegetable patch and leave it there. Ditz runs out to the backyard and gasps as he sees the thick raincloud hovering over the garden.
“Holy jeez! That's amazing, Icarus!”
“Hehe, thanks Ditz.”
“That's going to save us a lot of time, now that you can do this. That should be enough now, we don't want to over water it. So... How do you get rid of it?”
You rub your hoof on your chin, still hovering on the spot. How do you get rid of a rain cloud? In the show, Rainbow Dash just... OK, lets try that. You turn around and tuck in your legs, then give the cloud a huge kick. It instantaneously disperses and fades away into the air, leaving the garden bed glistening with fresh rain droplets.
“Good job, Icarus!”
You beam brightly and land on the ground to the edge of the patch. It's a bit weird how a fictional kids tv show was being used as a guidebook to your new body, although you wondered, how much of it was actually fictional? You had seen with your own eyes all of the physics defying things happen, so could the show be real? Cogs is calling out for you and Ditz to come inside and you happily oblige. As much as you liked being outside, it was getting dark and cold so you smile at Ditz and walk in together.
“Ah! You're back! Guess what's for dinner?”
That was nice of Cogs to cook you dinner. You sniff the air and a warm and sweet but natural smell fills your lungs.
“Hmmm... Smells like steamed vegetables. Thanks a lot dude, I could sure go for something to eat right now.”
“Ah, it was nothing. Don't only thank me though, Archie did more than half.”
Cogs gives Archie a little nudge and he smiles, using his magic to open the lid on the pot and let the heavenly smell waft towards you. Damn that smelt good, you couldn't wait to see what it tasted like.
Turns out there are even more perks to being a pony than you could ever imagine. This particular perk was that vegetables tasted absolutely fucking amazing. It was like you took the best thing you had ever tasted and multiplied it fifteen fold. The table was almost silent as you all sat there eating dinner. You probably would have more to talk about but you were just so engrossed in eating to spend more than a second with your head away from your bowl. It was kind of degrading to be eating out of a bowl without using any utensils, but you highly doubted that you could even use cutlery any more. You finally finished off your meal and slumped back in your chair a bit, highly satisfied. Cogs was still happily munching away, same with both Ditz and Archie. After a while, everyone had finished their meal and they sat back rubbing their stomachs and smiling.
“Holy crap... That was the best thing I've ever eaten. Like, ever.”
Cogs licked his lips and started to get up. Such a great meal had made you tired but satisfied and you follow him to your room.
“Night guys. I'll see you both tomorrow. Do you mind sleeping on the couch til tomorrow, Archie? We'll find you a cabin in the morning.”
He nods and you continue on to your room.
Thanks to Cogs' ingenuity, your room was no longer cold and you only needed sheet to stay warm tonight. You both slide into the sheets and face each other.
“Goodnight Icarus. I can't believe how strong you've been through this. If I had been in your position, I don't think I could handle it half as well.”
“I'm sure you would have done fine. Goodnight Cogs.”
You've only been asleep for about half an hour when you abruptly wake up again. It wasn't the cold that woke you up this time, it was the heat. Not normal heat again, it was the other heat. Oh god, could it have come at a more awkward time? You just hoped that the sweet smell didn't wake up Cogs as he shuffled around in his sleep. You take a quick glance under the sheets and- Oh god. It was almost like you had wet the bed, this was absolutely unbelievable. You jerk the sheets back over your lower body and lie back down. Maybe you could just sleep through this and all would be well. Your body had a different idea though and as soon as you did lie back down, the need intensified even more. Why did this have to happen to you? You slowly move a hoof down to the heat emanating from your loins and pause just above it. You could practically feel it radiating as your hoof hovers over. It interested you greatly, the creation of coffee beans and of coffee itself, and you even had another wonderful person to teach you anything you wanted about coffee. This morning, your Clare had even used her incredible skills to write you a little message in the foam of the coffee. It read “Happy 26th, Andrew!” Aww, how nice of her! She said that she was going to do something special for your birthday, but this surprise breakfast was all you needed to be the happiest guy in the world. She was sitting across from you on the other side of the table, smiling and sipping her own cup of home made coffee.
“Soooo... You ready for your surprise yet?”
“Sure, Clare-Bear” You say, smiling in between sips of coffee.
She giggles happily and runs out of the room. What could she have gotten you that would warrant so much excitement? It would be something you enjoyed, so maybe a Metallica CD? You hadn't gotten their new album so maybe it was that. Luckily you didn't have to wait very long and she came hopping back in, holding a box wrapped up in bright red paper, topped off with a blue bow. She plomped it down in front of you and sat, staring excitedly.
“Well? You gonna open it?” She asked nervously. It must be something pretty amazing... You nod and start to untie the bow on top and peel open the wrapping. The box inside was unmarked so you open it up and delve into the depths of the packing material inside. It was soft and squishy, so was it a toy? You pull it up and immediately find yourself staring into the eyes of Cheerilee. Well, not actually Cheerilee. It was a plushy and it was absolutely the best plushy you had ever seen.
“Holy crap! Thanks so much, Clare!”
“No problem, Andrew! I know that Cheerilee is your favorite character and I saw this online so I couldn't not buy it!” She leans forward and gives you a hug, squishing the amazing plushy in between the two of you. After you pull apart, you look down at the plushy again. It really was great. Unlike all of the other plushies you had seen before, this one actually looked pretty damn realistic. It actually seemed to have character and soul, something lacking in nearly all plushies you had seen before. You lay it down on the floor and give a huge kiss to Clare. You truly were grateful for having a girlfriend who shared interests with you in nearly every aspect AND bought you sweet stuff. They only problem with this was now you had to buy something for her birthday next month to make up for how great this present was.
Now you really felt bad... Dinner and a great present? Clare was treating you way better than you ever deserved. She took you out to a fancy Thai cuisine, ordered the best thing on the menu all for you and then paid for everything as well! This was more than you could handle and something made you think tonight was surely going to be even more amazing than the day. You got home, satisfied and tired, after the best birthday of your life. You both walk through the house and sit down heavily on the couch, pulling out your laptop. The day was done and there was nothing left to do but spend your time on [redacted]. Today, something was quite different though. As soon as you click on the board in [redacted], you are greeted with a very unfamiliar sight.
“ “Create your own OC”... Hey Clare, come take a look at this.”
She shuffles over on the couch closer to you.
“OC... Original Character? Maybe they're using some sort of ID system in [redacted] now. Ooooh! I wanna make one!”
She joyously opens up her laptop and as quick as she can, loads up the page.
“OMG! I know exactly what I’m gonna make mine like.”
An idea pops into your head.
“Wait a second, what if I made yours for you and you made mine for me? That would be pretty cool!”
“Oooh! I know exactly what I’m gonna make YOURS like!”
You stare at the featureless grey pony sitting on the screen in front of you. So... How were you going to make hers... You start off by giving the ponies fur a nice rich coffee brown, very fitting seeing as she is obsessed with coffee. The mane is next and you decide to make it puffy and swirly, somewhat like BonBons and give it light brown locks with white streaks going down the middle, like the foam on top of a cup of coffee. The scheme was strangely appealing, even more than what you thought an OC pony would be like. It even looked up to scratch with the quality of the show! Well, almost, there was still a couple of details missing. You pressed the next button at the bottom of the page and a text box came up telling you to input your skills and interests. Well, this was for Clare, so coffee was definitely the first and most accurate thing to come to mind. As soon as you typed in “coffee”, three perfect coffee beans appeared on the rump of the beautiful brown pony. After pressing the next button again, you are greeted with three symbols, a pair of wings, presumably meaning a Pegasus pony, a glowing horn (unicorn, duh) and a flexing muscle, which by presumption and by the process of elimination, you believe to symbolize an earth pony. How about earth pony? Coffee beans are from a plant, so it would make sense if a coffee obsessed pony grew their own beans like Clare did. You pressed the next button and one last text box appeared before you. Above it read “Name your character”. Hmmm... This was a good question, one that you thought should be left to Clare to decide.
“Hey, Clare, what do you want your pony to be called? I've done the rest, but you should pick it's name. Hint, it's to do with coffee.”
She laughed, realizing how obvious it was that you would have made her pony coffee related.
“That's a good question... How about Coffee Cream?”
“Sounds... Great! Like, weirdly great. What about my characters name?”
“You decide for yourself, just like I made mines name. I thought since you love to draw so much, I'd make your pony a drawing pony.”
“What about... Ink Scribble? That sounds good too.”
“And there we go... Done!”
You both press the finish button at the same time. Suddenly, you feel a surge of electricity build up in your finger and painfully zap through your body.
“Argh, shit! What the hell was that!”
Clare was holding her hand back as well, she must have been zapped when you got zapped.
“I dunno. Maybe I dripped some water into the power port... I dunno, but maybe we should play it safe and stay off the computers for tonight.”
“Can I see my pony before we switch off?”
“Sure. You can see yours as well if you want”
You shuffle over on the couch over to Clare and peek at her computer screen. On the screen sat a pale beige unicorn stallion, admittedly very attractive, with a deep blue mane and a paint brush for a cutie mark. Holy crap, that was cool! It even seemed to embody your personality in the way that it stood, to an extent. Clare must have felt the same way because she was excitedly smiling at the computer screen and inspecting every detail of the pony. You couldn't wait to use this pony on the [redacted] boards and see what people thought of it. Just before you shut it off, a text box popped up in the middle of the screen. "Congratulations!" it reads. "You are one of the first 10 people to use the OC creator on this site! You will be receiving your prize over the next week!" Prize? What did that mean? You call Clare over to look at the screen and she scans over the message.
“Prize? Over the next week? What prize is delivered over an entire week?”
“Maybe it has something to do with the characters. Maybe we get a special tag to use on [redacted] or something, I dunno.”
“Yeah, well we can worry about it tomorrow. I am so damn tired, let's go to bed, Andrew.” Damn, you weren't gonna get lucky tonight. Oh well, you were tired as well. Strange, because you had been really energetic only ten minutes ago.
“Right behind you.”
You slip under the sheets and cuddle up with Clare, you were so happy to be here with her, but you still had a weird feeling of anxiety building up inside you. That [redacted] message was just freaking you out for some reason that you couldn't put your finger on. You sat, staring at the wall for ages, wondering what it meant by “You will be receiving your prize over the next week...” You try as hard as you can to fall asleep, but the message just keeps bothering you, like it's poking you in the side. You take a sleeping pill which helps calm your mind down and after a while, you manage to fall asleep and rest peacefully until the sharp screeching of your alarm wakes you up the next morning.
You slam your hand down painfully on the alarm, causing it to immediately turn off. God damn it, what the hell, your arm felt so stiff this morning, maybe Clare had been lying on it. Speaking of Clare, she was missing from next to you. This was normal though, she often went outside early in the morning to tend to her coffee plants. As you stand up, you find that your feet are feeling stiff as well, and you stumble a bit trying to regain balance that you are unsure when it was lost. Bleary eyed and tired, you walk into the kitchen and start pulling stuff out for breakfast. Clare made you breakfast yesterday and it wasn't your birthday anymore, so it was time to repay the favor. You really didn't feel like bacon this morning, so you just got out some vegetables, eggs and salt to make omelets with. Clare liked omelets and they were piss easy to make, so you started to chop the vegetables in preparation for cooking, pulling the knife out of the holder and slicing up the carrot and capsicum into small squares. The squares looked really off because of how stiff your hands were, but that didn't really matter. Non-perfect dicing never hurt anyone. While chopping, you can't help but let your mind wander back to thinking about the [redacted] message. Why did this have you so worried? It wasn't something that warranted so much confusion or thought, yet it did anyway. You feel a sharp pain in your hand and retract your hand back quickly. Fuck! Maybe you should have been paying more attention to your cutting because you had cut your finger instead of the capsicum. “Shit, just what I fucking need...” you think as you pull out the medicine box and sloppily put a sticky plaster on your finger. Fucking knife... Your worries about pain are interrupted temporarily as you spy a small patch of brown on the top of your hand. What the hell was this? It kind of looked like a scab, had you scraped yourself before and not noticed? No, it wasn't a scab, it felt soft and smooth, not like a scab at all.
“What the fuck... Clare-Bear? Can you come on for a second?”
A couple of seconds, no response.
“Clare? You OK?”
You walk through the sliding door to the garage, accidentally slipping the bandage off as you open the door, and see Clare tending to her coffee plants, wearing her heavy looking headphones. You give her a tap on the shoulder and she tears off her headphones as she turns around, surprised.
“Oh, shit, Andrew. You scared me! *gasp!* You're bleeding!”
“Huh? Oh, it's OK, I need to show you something else though.”
“It can wait, we need to get that patched up right now.”
She hurriedly pushes you inside and you reluctantly comply, wanting to show her the thing on your hand but still glad she cares about you. She sits you down on the couch and goes into the other room to get the bandages, leaving you sitting on the couch. You look down at your hand and scratch it a bit where the weird brown patch was, but your scratching didn't ease the strange itch, it made it worse. It was really strange, patch also seemed to be slightly bigger than before... Your thoughts are interrupted again as Clare comes back in, bearing a bandaid for your hand. You smile nervously as she cleans the blood off with a tissue and applies it to your finger.
“Thanks.” You say, rubbing the bandaid a bit and scratching the patch with the other hand. She smiles her cute little smile, leans forward and gives a little kiss to your hand. She instantly jerks back in surprise.
“What the hell is that stuff on your hand?”
“That's what I wanted to ask you about- Whoa!”
It had grown even more? You only looked at it about twenty seconds before and it had been half this size! It quickly became unimaginably itchy and you scratched at it even more. Clare, it seemed, was overcome with the same kind of itch that was affecting you and started to scratch under her thighs.
“Ooh, Ah! What the hell, Andrew! I think we must be allergic to something that we had for dinner last night, this is itchy as hell!”
“I think this might be something different from an allergic reaction, Clare...”
You looked at your hand again and could actively see the brown patch growing larger and larger, the color seeming a little bit more familiar than you care to admit to your self. Clare pulls up the leg of her pants to reveal a speedily spreading patch of beige traveling across her leg.
“Oh my god! Holy shit, what the hell is happening, Andrew!?”
“You really think I know? Ah shit!”
After a quick look, you see that the fur had been growing on the other hand too and was accelerating at an alarming rate. It had grown almost up to your fingers and as soon as it touched , you felt them clench up and the skin around started to stretch out. What the fuck! You were pretty OK with the damn fur stuff, but compared to what was happening now? You could feel a huge stretching feeling in both of your hands (not painful though) as your fingernails started to bleed together, taking your fingers with them, making them meld together so much to the point that they disappeared completely. Your fingernails finish becoming one and start to flatten out to make a large flat surface, almost like a hoof. Actually, exactly like a hoof! You quickly glance of at Grace who is staring in utter disbelief as the fur had spread across her leg to the foot and was quickly going the same way that your hand had. The itching feeling continues and you look back at your arms to see the fur growing further up your arm. You felt the arms start to move around a little in their sockets as they rearrange to form a strange horse like limb. As the fur reached the edge of your shoulders, it slowed it's growth to a stop and subsequently, so did the changes to your arm. Specifically, your coffee brown arm.
“WHAT THE FLYING FUCK.”
Clare sat, eyes glazed over, staring in absolute amazement and shock at her ponified beige legs. The fur had grown just past the knee and had decided to park itself there (for the moment) Her lower lip started to quiver and her eyes began to water up. Oh no, she was going to cry. You step over to her and throw your pony-like arms around her. She burst into tears and sobs into your shoulder and as you hug her harder you find it a little difficult to grip without access to your hands anymore.
“Why us, Andrew? What did we ever do to deserve this? And what does it mean?”
You stiffen up a bit. What did it mean? You had absolutely no idea. You were just completely lost, with no direction. The rational side of your brain kicks in and starts whizzing ideas around in your head. What caused this? Well it must have been the pony creators we used last night, what else? This has to be what the message meant by a prize... Yeah, sure. Some “prize.” It also said in the message that we were one of the first ten people to use the pony creator and only the first ten got the prize. That must mean that there are at least eight other people who are going through the same thing as us, right? Maybe they went onto [redacted] searching for help. Time to see if your deductions were correct.
You briefly explain to Clare what you are doing and she pulls herself together a little, wiping away her tears with the sleeve of her jacket. You pull out your laptop and open up your browser to [redacted], having a little bit of difficulty, seeing as you didn't have hands anymore. You mistyped a whole lot but the hoof feeling thingy seemed to work with the laptops track-pad, so that was one bonus. The site seems to have kept no memory of the pony creator and you were wrong in assuming that it would be used as an avatar in the threads. There was nothing at all different from usual [redacted] boards, the regular Pony Tulpa General thread and AiE were up on the first page again and all the others were pretty generic too. People were complaining about equestria girls, arguing about plot, characters, etc. Nothing at all to do with the events of last night, nothing at all. After about an hour, you were just about ready to give up entirely when you suddenly spied an image of a blue hoof. Not just any pony hoof though, it was on a person and looked just like yours. In the thread was a link to a chat room and you nervously clicked on it, curious as to who might be there. A small box appeared, prompting you to enter a password. There was a hint next to it that read "What was the first thing you noticed this morning?" and you immediately write three short letters in. "Fur".
You silently cheer as the password box disappears and you are presented with the chat room screen telling you that there was only two people in the chat room, presumably you and the host.

As you walk up the steps to the cabins door, you can hear a couple of footsteps on the floor inside. Was that the other pony? Or were there more than one? How many could there be? Would they be friendly or hate you? So many questions flew through your mind, but you threw them all to the wind and timidly raised your hoof to give a loud knock on the door.
