Another night alone. Why do I do this to myself? I could be in bed with Twilight right now, I could be happy with her. Why can't I just accept my feelings for her?  "I love Twilight Sparkle! I want to date her, I want to sleep in her bed! I want to grow old with her and never be alone!"  There, I said it. Now I just have to Twilight tomorrow. It cant be that hard, if Fluttershy can confess her love for Big Mac, then dammit I can too!

Dash sighed, she knew that whatever nerve she built up now would be lost before morning. Like every night she pumped herself up, promising this night to be the last she spent alone. But like every night, it was another broken promise. She had a crush on Twilight ever since they met when they were foals. Twilight was always buried in some book, while Dash preferred to run around, play, and hide from any kind of learning experience. Dash wasn't an egghead, there was no way around this. Daring Do was the only book for her, and only because the series contained absolutely no educational benefits.

There was something about Twilight that differed from the average egghead though. Something about her love for magic, or her adventurous side. One of the reasons Dash had fallen for the lavender mare was because she was never able to put a hoof on the exact reason Twilight was cool. But she knew that no matter how cool Twilight was, nopony could accept her secrets. Dash was okay with keeping them, she preferred keeping them. It was easier not having somepony judge you for things you can't control. But keeping secrets is a tiring job, and after all those years.. it wore on Dash.

There was nothing in the world she wanted more than to be rid of her secret, not just to have confessed them, but to never have had to keep them. How wonderful would it be to be normal. She often wondered what normal ponies did at night, Do they just sleep? I bet Twilight just reads until she passes out for the night. The thought of Twilight holed up in bed made Dash smile. She wanted so badly to be sitting next to her, but there was only one way for that to happen, I have to tell her. No more excuses, no more stalling. If she doesn't want to be with me after I tell her, so be it. But I have to know.

This time, the promise wouldn't be broken. This time, Twilight would know the truth. No matter how much it hurt.
