The Crown and The Sword
Breakfast and Questions
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSword was the first downstairs, with a late following of Twilight and Spike. The trio were now sitting at a table eating away at eggs, toast, and waffles. It had taken sword atleast 30 minutes to get everything done due to the fact that Sword's 'imaginary monster' had tried to wrestle his ass to the ground multiple times. Sword managed to barely get the toast before shooing the thing away.
"So.." Twilight started as she slowly ate, "...how is it that a creature such as yourself is capable of magic in the first place?"
"Now that is a secret I'm willing to keep." Sword responded before taking another bite.
"What are you anyway?" Spike blurted out, some eggs flying out of his full mouth.
"Spike!" Twilight glared at the dragon.
"It's ok, Twilight." Sword raised his hand lazily before placing it back on the table. "I am a wolf. if you must know."
"Like a Timber Wolf?" Spike asked again.
"I'm not made of twigs, sticks, and logs." Sword replied again, taking another bite.
"Where did you come from?" Twilight asked.
Sword's eyes shifted from his plate to Twilight. She could sense a slight disturbance as he stood up after dropping his fork on the table. The chair he occupied fell backwards as he headed for the stairs. Spike looked at Twilight, then Sword, and back to Twilight. Twilight didn't notice that Spike was shifting gazes between the two.
"I'm going to look for my sword." Sword stated before ascending out of their sight.
"He has a sword?" Spike and Twilight asked in unison, looking at eachother.
"All right, Edge, just where the hell did you hide yourself?" Sword muttered to himself.
Sword was back in Twilight's room, standing in the center of the room with his eyes closed as he tried to concentrate. He shared some sort of telepathic connection with Edge. Sword could never explain just how exactly a sword could speak it a wielder's conscious. Then again, the sword he came to know as Insanity Edge, wasn't made in a mortal plane.
"Sire." Edge's voice rang out in his head. "It appears that I have gotten lodged into a wall."
"In the wall or in the space between here and there?" Sword asked, looking around the room.
"It appears to be both, Sire." Edge replied.
Sword may have been speaking to himself, but he also failed to noticed the owner of the room standing in the doorway. To her, it looked like Sword really was speaking to himself, when he was in fact talking to Edge.
"Are you all right?" Twilight spoke up finally.
Sword jumped a bit looking at Twilight. "Yeah.." He said cautiously, "... why?"
"Well, you are standing in MY bedroom."
Sword raised a brow.
"And you are talking to yourself."
"Yeah... hold on..."
Sword walked over to a wall on the far end of the room and raised his hand. Twilight was watching to see just what exactly he was up to. After several minutes of standing, Sword placed his hand on the wall, then pulled beck and shoved his hand straight into the wall. Twilight gasped, thinking he just broke his hand against her wall, but he was elbow-length into it instead. Twilight was starting to wonder about the capabilities of this creature.
"Ah, there we are. Edge, you gotta stop hiding yourself when there's no real danger around." Sword muttered to himself as he pulled his blade from the wall.
"How in Tartarus did you even do that?" Twilight asked after watching Sword pull the blade from her wall.
"Magic, it's all in the illusion." Sword quickly chuckled to himself.
"That female, she seems fitting." Edge spoke within his mind.
Sword's face quickly changed expressions. "Edge.... what are you thinking?"
"She might just be a viable mate for you, since you complain about being around me all the time." Edge responded.
Sword was surprised, but couldn't help keeping quiet. "EDGE!"
"Who's Edge?" Twilight asked, tilting her head.
Sword sighed and wiggled the sheathed blade. "This is Edge."
"You named your sword... Edge?" Twilight was even more perplexed.
"Well, no. Her real name is-"
"It's a SHE?"
"Will you let me finish?!" Sword growled as he glared across the room, causing Twilight to step back.
Sword's gaze softened at the scared mare. "Her real name is Insanity Edge, I just call her 'Edge' for short. But I never found her, she found me." Sword seemed to have zoned out as he remembered that fateful day.
"Yet, she talks to you? How does a sword even find someone, let alone, I barely know what it is." Twilight snapped Sword form his daze.
"How she found me is a tale I'm not willing to share so easily. I need Edge to fit in around here anyway before I actually leave this library." Sword explained.
"You seriously expect to change your body completely? There's a high chance you might not even remember who you are!" Twilight tried to reason.
"I've taken many chances, I'll take many more." Sword said with the calmest of tones. "I'm just going to need a few things..."
"Like what?" Twilight asked, thinking this has to be some sort of joke.
"Edge is telling me that I need something called a zap apple, a book.... on flying, and apparently your hand."
"You're not cutting off my hand, zap apples don't come in for another three days, and I'll have to get
Spike to find this 'book on flying'."
"I never said I was going to cut off your hand, nor do I have to. Three days is enough time to prepare myself for the transformation."
"Then what do you need my hand for?" Twilight barked
"I guess we'll both find out." Sword replied with a small smile.
A few moments of silence went by until Sword had a look of annoyance on his face.
"Edge, if you don't shut up about it, I WILL throw you back in the very void you put yourself in!" Sowrd's voice echoed through the halls.
Somehow, Twilight had a feeling this wasn't going to end well.
