The three tribes, unicorn, pegasus, and earth pony, have had a loose alliance for thousands of years but there are rumors of a fourth tribe with traits of all three. While researching these rumors Twilight finds a legend about two of these ponies. The first tried to create eternal night and the second stopped her, disappearing in the process. The legend also says that the first one will return on the summer solstice of this year, which is in a week.
