A lost souls second chance

The sounds of battle could barely be heard by the three beneath the magical dome. The two princesses stared at their opponent with a mixture of fear and unbridled hatred. For the longest time the three just stared, the princesses tried to ready themselves for the attack that was bound to come. But were shocked when instead of attacking nightmare moon let her head drop and said just barely above a whisper.

"I don't expect you to believe me but I am truly sorry for the things I have done in the past". Not another word was spoken as Nightmare Moon slowly looked back up at Celestia and Luna causing Luna to let out a surprised gasp. Since Luna was able to walk in ponies dreams she had learned a trick or two. One of them being able to tell when a pony was lying and despite everything that her anger and mistrust was telling her deep down she knew Nightmare Moon wasn't lying.

"What caused this miraculous change of heart Nightmare last we met you were hell bent on plunging equestria in eternal night". Luna said watching as nightmare visibly flinched at the mention of her past she made as if to speak but was cut off by Celestia.

"Luna, you can't be honestly thinking she is telling the truth we must destroy her before she does the same to us" Celestia said starring at her sister as if she just suggested she get sent to the moon again for no good reason other than she liked it there. Luna didn't even answer her sister she just watched nightmare moon patiently waiting for her answer.
It finally came with a sad sigh and nightmare dropping to a siting position her head hung low staring at the ground.

"As you can see the elements of harmony didn't destroy me" she said motioning to herself. "Instead they simply removed me from Luna and banished me to a parallel plane of existence. A place where I could see everything that went on here but at a accelerated rate. For every day that passed here one thousand years would pass in that nether realm and at first I raged and conspired to destroy you I wont lie about that." Nightmare said looking at the sisters ashamed trying to judge their expressions. Luna showed a mixture of disbelief and understanding where as Celestia was staring at nightmare as if she were telling a sick joke no one wanted to hear.At least Luna seams to believe me that in itself is a miracle Nightmare thought to herself before continuing her tale.

"And as I watched I began to think in depth on my plan to figure out where I went wrong how I could have come out on top. But I couldn't find a way only the startling realization that the future I sought would have destroyed Equestria and left its ponies in fear. I realized this because this wasn't the only reality I could see, their was another much like this one the only difference was. The elements failed to defeat me and I had killed you Celestia instead." Nightmare didn't get any farther in her tale for right as she spoke those last words Celestia lost any of semblance of patience. With a fierce scream she struck nightmare moon time and again both physically and magically. But never once did Nightmare strike back or even try to defend herself she just took it. Finally having exhausted herself Celestia relented and backed away from the cowering form of Nightmare Moon.

"What are you playing at Nightmare Moon" Celestia screamed "Why don't you defend yourself what has gotten into you?"

Nightmare Moon slowly got to her trembling feet her bleeding and battered body swaying from side to side. She looked up to celestia one of her eyes bloodshot and she was bleeding from many cuts on her face and part of one of her fangs missing.

"I don't defend myself because I deserve this and much much more Celestia." Nightmare Moon said with a sad smile. "I will accept any fate you bestow on me with a clean conscious." Here Celestia made as if to speak but she was silenced by a hard glare from Luna. who got a appreciative nod from Nightmare Moon " I Say this because weather or not you believe me or not doesn't matter. As long as I know im telling the truth then I am all right so tell me princess's what will you do with me" she said bowing and offering herself to them as a prisoner. Celestia was the first to regain her composure and was about give Nightmare Moon her sentence when a agonized scream split the air causing the princesses to look to one another in alarm.

"Your judgment will wait for another time" Luna said staring at Nightmare Moon in fear. "As of now you will drop this barrier and aid us in purging this town of the changelings." Nightmare Moon nodded in acknowledgement but just as her horn began to glow to dispel the shield a thunderous impact sounded outside surprising them all yet again. When the barrier finally fell the battle had ceased and all eyes were on something to the princesses left. When they looked they all gasped and Luna even began to cry for Storm had Chrysalis pinned to a tree and was stroking her main while his face showed no emotion. Then Luna began to cry even harder as Storm leaned towards Chrysalis as if to kiss her or whisper in her ear Luna was about to charge the pair blindly until Nightmare stopped her with a hoof and motioned for her to watch. And as she watched Storm leaned in and spoke into Chrysalis's ear loud enough that everyone heard.

"You know the last ones to take everything away from me got away before I could pay them in kind." Storm said softly while caressing Chrysalis horn softly causing her to shiver in delight at the sensation.

"That's a shame my love" Chrysalis said giggling slightly only to gasp in shock as storm squeezed with all his might on her horn and throat.

"Yes it was a shame" Storm said his voice rising and pure rage becoming apparent on his face. "But you wont be so lucky you WILL PAY FOR ALL YOU HAVE TAKEN FROM ME!!!!!!!!" Storm screamed as he snapped Chrysalis's horn from her head earning a agonized scream and shower of magical sparks as it broke off.

"That was for twilight" Storm said darkly grinning a grin that would put the joker to shame. Not even hesitating or giving Chrysalis a chance to recover Storm took the broken horn and started to stab it through the base of Chrysalis wings saying as green blood spewed forth.

"This is for Fluttershy and Rainbow" Then he took her slowly as if he was cradling her and grabbed one leg at a time and snapped them in half still grinning saying.

"This is for Applejack" then when he broke all her legs Storm held the whimpering and screaming queen in front of him at arms length. Looking at her thinking saying

"I know I'm missing something" storm said frowning before his face lit up and he looked at Chrysalis in glee. "Now I remember time for Pinkies retribution" as he said this he pried Chrysalis mouth open with one hand and grabbed her tongue and ripped it slowly out more blood spilling from her mouth.

"And the last but defiantly not least this is for Rarity." Storm said chuckling darkly sending a shiver down the back of all the onlookers as he reached up and one after the other. Storm plucked her eyes from her head throwing them over his shoulder carelessly. Storm stood their and seemed to admire his handiwork as Chrysalis's screams died down due to blood loss and fatigue.

"Oh we arn't done yet little one I still have Luna and Celestia to punish you for." when she heard this Chrysalis despite her fatigue and injury's thrashed and fought trying to be free of Storms grip. Only causing him to laugh even harder at her feeble attempts. Finally growing bored of this Storm picked up the forgotten horn and shoved it viciously through her chest causing Chrysalis to let out a final pained scream before it was cut off by a wet tearing sound as. Storm ripped her head from her shoulders to silence her screaming. As he let her decimated body fall to the ground storm dealt a final form of punishment as blue and white flames consumed her mangled body.

All of ponyville was silent at the end of this display the changelings had long since disappeared leaving only the ponies brave enough to fight and the princesses. Slowly storm turned and faced all the ponies behind him his eyes devoid of all life or emotion until he saw nightmare moon. With a rage filled scream he let loose another torrent of flame in her direction. Not even waiting to see if his attack struck he darted into the night sky flying straight up. Until he leveled out heading towards the everfree forest. Pumping his wings madly storm broke the sound barrier and shot off with a loud thunderclap and lightning spreading in his wake. As he flew pieces of armor fell away falling to the ground below him until all that was left was his helmet. Which met the same fate only to land in the ruins in the castle where the elements of harmony were housed. Seconds after the helmet fell storm lost consciousness and plummeted from the sky Luna forgive me for being so weak. Was the last thing to pass through storms mind before all went to black.

Mean while in ponyville all was quite and all were gazing ahead in silent horror. Until a pained scream was heard and all looked to see. Nightmare moon and Celestia restraining a frantic Luna from flying after storm. Slowly Luna's strength left her leaving her with only pained sobs.

"For now It may be best to give the dragon some space." Nightmare moon said lifting Luna's chin until she was looking her in the eye. "For now let us return to canterlot where you can tell us what is going on with the young dragon." Luna begrudgingly agreed and they all three teleported back to Luna's chambers where she told nightmare all about storm. And filled them both in on how she knew what had happened to him. Somehow all the memories of his past life came back to him and he went berserk. After she was finished speaking Luna again broke down and cried herself to sleep followed shortly by both celestia and Nightmare moon. Somewhere deep in the everfree storm dreamed of his friends and loved ones "lost" his silent whimpers the only sound in the forest.
