All save one he was known round the city for his brutality, cold heart, and ruling his gang with an iron fist. This man has been known to kill entire family's on a whim, or even his own allies simply because they "didn't look right". But tonight the infamous tyrant was felled by a single knife left to die by his enemies and allies alike. It all started out so promising for the man until his own men mutinied against him cutting him down with single knife through his gut. He was left cursing and screaming but not a soul payed him any attention, eventually his voice grew hoarse and abandoned him leaving him truly alone with no one but himself. The ground was cold and hard where the man lay late that night, his blood pooling around him. His only company was the ever shining beauty of the moon and stars above him twinkling and shining completely unaware of what was happening below them. For what seemed like hours to him but was only a few minutes, he just sat their staring at the moon coming to terms with and accepting his death feeling his life slowly slip away. But as he accepted his fate his heart sank lower and lower in his chest his life was riddled and stained by his crimes and evil ways forever marking him as a damned soul. He was struck by a overwhelming feeling of remorse not for himself but instead for all those he had wronged. His mind was plagued by the voices and faces of the innocents he had slain and for the first time in his life the man shed a tear. He wanted nothing more than to take back his actions only to ease the suffering of those he hurt. He again gazzed up at the beauty of the moon, wishing he could have a chance to make things up to them. But alas as he heard the faint sounds of sirens growing closer and his vision began to fade he knew, that he was doomed to his fate and he would accept the reprocussions of his actions. And so with a sound mind and clean conscious he took his last breath and closed his eyes one last time. As his earthly senses faded from him the man thought he heard a voice calling out to him ever so softly. I can help you. With a jolt and sudden intake of breath the man bolted upright. Only to find himself not in the alley but on a never ending sea under the night sky afloat a small raft. the moon and stars shone brightly only to be reflected by the waters of the sea. "well this certainly isn't hell." he said to himself staring in awe at the beautiful scene before him. "but I wouldn't mind if it was." "indeed this is not the place you know as hell." a voice said behind him as its owner came into view before him shrouded in shadow. "This is simply a dream I have made so we may speak to one another." the shadow said giving no hint as to who or what it was and it's motives. Finding himself able, the man stood and glared fiercely at his captor "And just who do you think you are to bring me here?" he drawled in a deep southern accent pointing a finger at the shadow accusingly. spreading his feet to a defensive stance believing himself ready for anything only to be proven wrong as the shadow dissipated to reveal the creature standing beneath it. The man found himself looking eye to eye with a dark blue alicorn with teal eyes that seemed to boar into his soul and it's mane and tail flowing in a nonexistent breeze looking to be almost a mirror image of the night sky above them. This man was known for his nerves of steel and feared by many but the sight before him was so unheard of that he feared that he finally lost his mind. He even went so far as to retreat from the pony and dunk his head in the water surrounding his little raft. Staring wide eyed when he again faced the pony only to find it remained as if it was supposed to be a figment of his imagination. "I am princess Luna co-ruler of the land of equestria and princess of the night." the pony said eyeing the man as a mother would a insolent child. "I have brought you here because despite your cruel past I believe you are sincere in you hope for repentance if you are sincere I may be able to aid you." she said approaching the man stopping directly in front of him. "and why would you want to help me?" the man challenged both cautious of and intrigued by the creature before him. " why I am helping you is not the point, the fact is I am offering for you to live the how's or whys are irrelevant." the pony said obviously impatient with this ordeal. Doubtful of this creature the man had to admit this was better than hell but what was the catch. "So what's the catch what must I give up for this gift?" the man asked causing the pony to roll her eyes, shake her head and sigh in frustration. "you try my patients human. it is a simple yes or no question, do you accept my offer or not"? the pony said flaring her wings out as if making ready for flight. " I accept you offer princess!" the man said jumping forward to stop the pony from leaving though he doubted this was real what was the harm of playing along if only to delay his arrival in hell. "very well." the princess said leaning forward until their faces almost touched a cold look on her face " but be warned should you return to your evil ways I will be watching you and will not hesitate to destroy you if you harm anypony." The man gulped audibly and nodded in understanding. without another word Luna tapped her now glowing horn to his head where he disappeared in a blinding flash of light. "rest well now for tomorrow is a new day....storm bringer." and as she spoke both the princess and the world around her began to fade away until their was nothing left. With a gasp a young dragon bolted awake jumping to his feet his eyes darting across his surroundings in alarm crouched low ready to fight or flee. He was tall just shy of eight feet with a well toned build. He was a light blue with white streaks all across his body almost like lightning bolts and broad shoulders with strong toned arms that ended in large clawed hands. His face was hard but kind with two large horns jutting of the back of his head and more going all the way down his back to his tail. His eyes despite their ice blue color gazed on with a warmth at the world when he remembered where he was and sat back down curling his long powerful tail around himself and stretching his large wings to their full extent and prepared for another day of flying. Ever since waking in this forest four days ago he has been searching for... he didn't know what for. All he knew was he was a dragon his name was Stormbringer and he was seeking his purpose in life. little did he know he would find that purpose that very day as he stood once more and took to the sky scaning the horizon for anything other than the forest below him. And as he did so a particulare princess watched with magic keeping tabs on his slow progress towards civilization and a genuine hope that he may very well find the redemption he seeks. Author's Note criticism is welcome though please be nice I know this story wont ever win a prize but it is my first ever fan fic and I hope to get better //-------------------------------------------------------// luna wants you for the guard //-------------------------------------------------------// luna wants you for the guard It was still early morning as storm neared the edge of the forest and traded its familiar trees for wide open hills and fields. As he glided peacefully through the air he closed his eyes relishing in the feeling of the sun warming his back and wings. But he was broken from his silent reverence as a strange noise floated to him on the breeze. Curious storms eyes snapped open and he adjusted his flight to head toward the noise on the breeze hoping to maybe find what he sought with this noise. As the noise grew louder storm noticed a small town on the horizon before him but their was something about the noise he heard and the way ponies were running blindly back and forth between buildings that worried him. Storm alighted just outside the small village watching a small group of ponies cowering behind a building peeking around the corner from time to time and cringing in fear of some unseen horror. The little group consisted of a small white unicorn with a two tone purple mane and green eyes, a orange pegasus with a purple mane and eyes, and the last is a small yellow pony with a bright red mane and orange eyes. Storm cautiously approached the group of three and was about to reach them when a unseen twig snapped underfoot causing the group to all turn and stare at him with unbridled terror. "Please don't be alarmed I want to help you. why are you afraid?" storm said holding his hands in front of himself and trying to not scare the little ones. But to no avail as the three little ponies started to back away from him slowly not even realizing that they left the safety of the building until it was too late. With a ear splitting scream the unicorn was yanked backwards and out of sight her friends bolting in different directions. Terrified for the young unicorn, storm rushed around the building in time to see a large minotaur wielding the screaming pony like a club. Trying to no avail to strike her friends as they scurried to and from cover stumbling drunkenly after them. Without a thought for his own safety storm rushed forward and spun striking the minotaur across the back with his tail. causing the beast to drop its captive for her to land softly in storms arms where he deposited her beside her friends and turned again to his opponent. The minotaur had been knocked forward on it's face by the force of the blow and was slowly pulling itself back on it's feet growling, grumbling looking around for who ever hit it. Storm walked up behind the beast and reached down and grabbed it by the horn yanking it to it's feet only to spin it around and send it flying again with a solid blow to the chin. storm again fallowed his fallen opponent this time placing a large clawed foot on its chest and lowering himself until their faces almost touched a cold dead look on his face . "Next time you decide to get drunk and have a good time" storm growled smoke flowing through his teeth like a fogger . "Go somewhere were you wont hurt innocent ponies" he said ramming the beasts head into the ground to make sure he understood before returning to the cowering ponies doing his best to calm them. A few kicks to the chin and painful scrapes latter storm had convinced the little ponies that he meant them no harm and even learned their names. The little pegasus was Scootaloo, the little pony was Applebloom, and the little unicorn was sweetie belle and they were part of a little club called the cutie mark crusaders. "well it's a pleasure to meet you ladies" storm said chuckling to himself earning a wide grin from his three companions. "But I believe it is time that yall started headin home and it would be an honor to escort you three safely there." Storm said rising and bowing slightly to his three friends his eyes alight with mischief and happiness. And so storm and the three ponies came out of hiding to find the sun high in the sky and a large group of ponies gathered around the now unconscious minotaur. Some of the ponies were eyeing storm warily and others were smiling and nodding in approval a small group had even broke from the crowd and was making their way towards storm. As they approached storm the little ones next to him ran forward to meet them all save sweetie belle who remained beside storm and waited for her friends to get closer. After some hugs and hellos the six ponies continued forward to meet storm as he leaned against a nearby building with sweetie belle at his feet. "so you must be the dragon who took care of our little problem" one of the ponies said stepping forward to introduce herself. "My name is twilight sparkle and I see you have already met the c.m.c " she said motioning to sweetie bell at his feet though eyeing him uncertainly as she did so. This didn't escape storms attention as he sized up the small pony in front of him not entirely trusting her. Storm could tell by the sound of her voice this pony was a girl, she had large intelligent purple eyes filled with a mixture of apprehension and interest. Her mane was dark blue with a streak of two different shades of purple running through it. Her coat matched her eyes except where on her flank where their was a white five point star surrounded by five smaller ones. AS he looked at the other ponies they all had markings on their flanks varying from some apples to a rainbow lighting bolt on a cloud. These markings confused storm but he decided to wait for another time to question about them as the ponies began to shift uncomfortably under his scrutinizing gaze. "Forgive me where are my manners I am storm bringer" he said waving a hand to all the ponies behind twilight who were all eyeing him suspiciously in a way only girls could all save a white unicorn with a curly purple mane and purple eyes with three diamonds on her flank, and a cyan pegasus with a rainbow mane and wine red eyes with the rainbow lightning bolt over a cloud on her flank. The later of the two was eyeing him as if she wanted to say something stupid but what really caught storms attention was the way the unicorn was staring in awe at him then at the pony at his feet who was smiling at the larger unicorn without a care in the world almost like they were siblings. His suspicions were confirmed when the young unicorn trotted up the other and hugged her tightly speaking in her ear and looking at him with a smile as the older unicorn stared at him in a mixture of gratitude and disbelief. The unicorn opened her mouth as if to speak but she was cut sort but a loud popping noise and the sounds of hoofs on stone approaching. All the ponies in front of storm immediately dropped into deep bows as the sounds of hooves approaching died down. "Please rise my little ponies" a voice as soft as velvet but stronger than steel said from behind storm a slight chuckle in it. "Yes rise their is no need to bow before us though, dragon if you would face us it would be greatly appreciated." Another voice said behind storm not as soft as its counterpart but non the less beautiful. Doing as is asked of him storm turns and faces the new comers and is surprised by what he sees.Storm towered over every pony he has ever met but with the two standing before he was only maybe a foot taller than the tallest one and maybe two feet over the shorter of the two. The taller of the two was a white alicorn with violet eyes that seemed to hold untold wisdom and a long flowing mane striped in green, blue, and pink flowing in a unseen breeze with a image of the sun on her flank. Were as her companion just as stunning she was a dark blue with teal eyes that seemed to boar into storm as if she could see his very thoughts, her mane was of a lighter blue with white spots looking exactly like a night sky with a image of a white crescent moon on black background. "Now judging by the ponies reactions" storm said motioning to the ponies behind him as he did. "And the crowns atop yalls head id say you're royalty" Storm said awaiting an answer from the two across from him. "You are correct in the assumption that my sister and I are royalty" the blue alicorn said motioning towards her self and her sister. "This is celestia princess of equestria and the ruler of the day, I am her sister Luna princess of equestria and ruler of the night and as such we deserve respect" Luna said staring at storm calmly while her sister shook her head slightly a simple smile on her face. "Indeed you do" storm said chuckling to himself lightly at the lunar princess expression and out dated style of speech. " I apologies if I have offended you in any way but I am still new to the ways and customs of this place." Storm said looking between the sisters sheepishly and rubbing a foot in the dirt. "Indeed you are" Luna said eyeing him thoughtfully and then looking to her sister then twilight who came to stand beside storm as the conversation wore on. " It would seem you need a tutor, a residence, and employment. If twilight were to agree she could provide the tutoring and the place to stay where I may be able to offer you employment" Luna said looking to twilight who agreed to the terms that were laid out. " Well then now that is settled I would like to officially welcome you to equestria and wish you good luck in the future." Celestia said stepping forward and saying good bye to all the ponies behind storm. " sadly we must return to canterlot now so we bid you all farewell, and storm when you feel comfortable please come to canterlot for employment I would like you to join my lunar guard." Luna said before biding a final farewell and the two sisters disappeared with a loud pop and flash of light. "Well someone made quite the impression Luna wants you for the guard, that's new" twilight said to herself believing storm couldn't hear but he just shrugged it off as a stray thought as he fallowed his would be tutor. //-------------------------------------------------------// welcome to the guard //-------------------------------------------------------// welcome to the guard A week has passed since storm arrived in ponyvile and went to study under twilight to learn more about his home. And he has progressed well storm has made friends with all of the elements of harmony, most of the citizens of ponyvile and even the minotaur who is quite nice when he isn't drunk. In fact he was a hard worker as storm learned one day when he offered to help applejack with the harvest and found him their. But their was something that bothered storm as the week progressed, with every study session under twilight one topic always came up but she refused to speak of it. Who was the mare in the moon and why was twilight so adamant about him asking Luna about it the next time the two met? Celestia only knows but storm would get his chance soon enough for at the end of the day he was due to canterlot to take luna up on her offer for employment. Most of storms time that wasn't spent studying with twilight was spent roaming around ponyvile and the surrounding area helping where he could and even getting into mischief. One such instance being that rainbow dash being the showoff tomboy she is decided it would be a good idea to challenge storm to a race of wings in sky's he didn't really know. Lets just say rainbows house needed major renovations and half of applejacks work load was done that day. Everypony got a good laugh out of it even rainbow though she did do her fair share of complaining. As the day neared its ends twilight and the rest of the elements quizzed storm on everything from proper pony edicts to ancient history. only relenting when the royal carriage arrived to take them to canterlot everypony save storm piled into the carriage storm opting to fly their. But as the carriage left ponyvile and its quite peaceful scenery behind something strange was happening at canterlot castle, and it bode ill for all involved. For as the carriage made for canterlot a small pony snuck out a back entrance of the castle and disappeared in a hidden tunnel. After hours of walking in the darkness the pony arrived in a hallowed out cave with a hole in the ceiling letting the setting sun light up the center but leaving the rest to shadows. As the pony neared the center it was surrounded by a sickly green aura and then it disappeared leaving a warped disfigured version of the pony bowing where it stood. "I have great news my queen" the creature said rising back to its feet to see two sickly green eyes peering at it from the shadows. "Everything is going according to plan all are in place for the attack tonight during the changing of the guard. We even have a special treat of the two princess being in the same place this evening as they challenge a new recruit for the guards." "Perfect canterlot will fall before us tonight" a voice said as the creature stepped forward revealing itself and throwing its head back with maniacal laughter while swarms more spilled from the shadows and made for the sky. The creature was just barely shorter than luna with a dull blue grayish mane and a black jagged horn atop her head. Her wings were small and wiry like a insects and fangs poked out of her upper jaw. "Canterlot shall fall before the might of chrysalis and the changelings" she yelled out triumphantly before taking to the sky's after her minions. Meanwhile storm and his companions arrived at the castle without incident and promptly ushered to the guards training grounds. To be met by both celestia and luna flanked by several guards in white armor and then several guards in black armor. Celestia smiled warmly when the group arrived all her little ponies smiled back where storm just stared back at her with a blank face but his eyes said it all. As she watched celestia saw a plethora of emotions fly behind storms eyes everything from unbridled joy to unease and storms twitching as he tried to contain his emotions. Which despite her best efforts earned a chuckle from celestia earning a confused glance from everyone gathered save storm who just smiled warmly dropping his stony façade. Everyone's attention was brought back the subject at hand when luna cleared her throat and storm realized he was surrounded on all sides by the guards in black armor. "If we may return to the subject at hand" luna said looking at storm with a unreadable expression. Which unnerved storm slightly as it seemed luna was staring right through him as if he wasn't even their. "To have the honor of joining my lunar guard you must pass one simple trial. You must best my finest guard pony's in combat and prove to me you have the characteristics required to join my guard." Luna said motioning to the many ponies around storm without any emotion. "Tell me storm do you accept my challenge" luna said a slight glimmer of mischief visible as the first emotion in her eyes. At her question storm looked at the ponies around him and start to build a strategy. Many of the ponies were just regular earth ponies with a few pegasus and unicorns mixed in. "Your not going to make this easy are you luna?" storm said with a deep chuckle spreading his wings earning a nod from luna. "Very well princess challenged accepted" storm said before disappearing in a blast of sand and screaming wind. And the battle ensued as the pegasus guards fallowed storm closely but slowly losing him as he turned abruptly flying straight at the airborne guards in a game of chicken. One the guards were bound to lose fore as they drew closer no pony broke off or veered away until right before impact storm dropped into a dive aiming for the unsuspecting unicorns directly below him. the unicorns tried in vain to hit storm with whatever spells they could think of as he plummeted towards them some even finding their marks but to no avail. And again right before impact storm altered his course to where he was flying straight up striking the two pegasus guards who were trying to strike him from behind knocking them out of the sky unconscious. establishing air supremacy storm focused again on the unicorns whose aim was improving the longer they fought and were now surrounded by the earth ponies who had their swords drawn and watching storm warily. Storm made a few passes above them earning some cuts and burns from the magic and steel. Storm made as if he was to pass over the ponies again but shot straight up at the last second not stopping until the ponies below were just specks in his sight. Confused the ponies below made the mistake of relenting on their magical barrage giving storm the perfect opportunity. Taking it storm started to fall back to the ground his jaws agape and fire building in his mouth until it was all he could see he released it and veered off to watch. As a blue and white fireball the size of a boulder screamed down at the ponies below. Right before impact the unicorns managed a shield spell before they were engulfed in flames and heat blinding all the onlookers temporarily. Storm alighted as the flames died to reveal a large crater with all ponies unconscious but unharmed in the middle. Before anything was said storm rushed to the ponies making sure they were ok and doing the same for the pegasus before facing the stunned princesses and his friends. A long silence fallowed as the princesses tried to absorb just how quickly storm had defeated the elite of equestrias military and the main six were doing the same thing save pinkie pie who was bouncing around saying something about a victory party for storm before she was hushed by twilight. "Don't get so worked up just yet pinkie we don't know for sure weather luna will accept him into the guard or not" twilight said watching the lunar princess carefully. "But how can she not accept him did you see that fight" pinkie said standing still for once looking at twilight as if she had grown a second head. "I did see the fight pinkie I was right here but storms combat skills weren't what was being tested." twilight said a small smile sneaking across her face as luna approached storm rather quickly. "That was quite a performance storm bringer nopony has ever bested my guards" luna said stopping before storm who crouched to look the princess in the eyes as he spoke. "So tell me princess" he said "did I earn the right to join your guard." "Indeed you did though not because of you combat skill that field was tested against the minotaur. No you earned this title by keeping calm in the face of many opponent's and taking them out quickly and effectively." She said a large smile plastered across her face. She made as if to speak again but was silenced when suddenly the sky and grounds went dark. confused everyone looked to celestia who was staring mouth agape in horror of the spectacle above her. Everyone tensed and looked up those who knew what they saw cringed or cried out in terror storm though was just alarmed but unsure what was going on. "Well, well, well, what do have we here" a voice said behind celestia and luna causing everyone gathered their to spin towards the sound. Their standing in the entry way to the courtyard stood the creature from the cave flanked on both sides by hundreds of smaller creature that looked like her. The things that struck storm as odd about her was the strange shell on her back, the fact her legs had many holes in them, and that everyone was scared of her granted she had numbers but what was so bad about her. Without even meaning to a deep menacing growl sounded from storms chest as he stared at the strange creature before him. And as she looked at him first with fear and shock then contempt it struck storm why everyone feared her. she was chrysalis the queen of the changelings. The shock must have been apparent in storms eyes because chrysalis burst into maniacal laughter as her hoard slowly encircled everyone in the courtyard. "I see my reputation precedes me and it must be fierce for a dragon to show me fear" chrysalis said staring at storm like he was a new toy she didn't know what to do with. "My fight isn't with you dragon you may leave" chrysalis said as she slowly approached the two princesses only to have storm appear directly in her path so abruptly she ran face first into his chest. She looked up into his eyes fixing to give a snide remark before it withered and died on her tounge at the sight of his expression. "If you have any problem with any pony here you have a problem with me" storm said glaring at chrysalis with a look that could kill with nothing but cold hard anger in his eyes. Before he sent her flying with a knee into her chest back to the other side of the courtyard. Chrysalis dragged herself back to her feet gasping for breath staring daggers at storm before her changeling senses told her something she could uses against them. "So dragon tell me which princess do you love?" chrysalis said catching storm off guard and making his strong façade falter slightly. "Is it princess celestia?" she asked in mock innocence approaching the dragon slowly like a predator would with wounded prey. "Or perhaps it is the delicate princess luna?" chrysalis asked not missing the slight panic that flew behind storms hard eyes. Getting what she needed chrysalis horn lit up with a sick green color and she slowly began to change still approaching storm. Her jagged horn grew whole and changed to blue as did her eyes all the way to the point where their was a second luna standing before a petrified storm. He knew it wasn't the real luna but he was to preoccupied with trying to figure out what told her his feelings for the lunar princess. The imposter came within arms reach and stood back on her hind legs and wrapped storm in a warm embrace and whispered in his ear. "Come with me i'll love you forever you. what do you say, stormy my love?" chrysalis was so engorged and focused on the love spewing from the young dragon to realize her mistake until it was too late. Quick as lightning storm grabbed the imposter by her horn and lifted her up over his head before slamming her down into the ground repeatedly on either side of him. When he stopped a sick green fluid was flowing from many points across chrysalis's broken and battered body. Still not finished storm brought the changeling queen to his face to look in her eyes as they slowly and painfully opened, when they did storm roared loud and strong in her face the sheer power vibrating the ground beneath him and pushing against his hold on chrysalis. when he finished storm felt week and looked around him to find many changelings attacking him rather pathetically trying to free their queen from his vice like grip. "you want her you can have her!" storm screamed in rage throughing the beaten queen as hard as he could away from him self and focusing on his attackers. For every one changeling storm killed or sent reeling three more attacked him until he was nothing more than a mass of changelings fighting to get a piece of him. The rest of the ponies were faring better the princesses where casting spells and protected by their guards and the man six were holding their own in their own way. Twilight using magic, rainbow was flying around attacking anything that wasn't a pony, applejack was bucking just bout anything that moved and then their was pinkie with her party cannon blowing changeling's out of the sky by the boat loads. Everything went silent and stopped when a loud crack sounded from beneath the pile of changelings atop storm everyone watched with anticipation to see what would happen next. Beneath the changelings storm was growing desperate his was losing blood fast and their was no foreseeable way out save one but it would probably hurt like hell. Deciding he had no other choice storm opened his mouth once again and concentrated on fire and hoped like hell it would hurt. But when he released it storm was almost deafened by a loud crack and blinded by a bright flash of light as the changelings were sent flying in all directions. When he finally regained his senses storm rolled over and sat up and looked on in shock at the carnage before him. The battle was a stale mate as neither side was making any solid gains except for storm. All around their were wounded or dead changelings and a few ponies most of which were just wounded. During the battle night had fallen and everyone fighting had a hard time telling friend from foe all save luna and storm, one because night was her domain and the other because of his superior sense of sight. Storm scanned the masses looking for chrysalis and found her some distance away merely watching and nursing her wounds. Storm dropped to all fours and slowly crawled towards his target taking down the occasional changeling along the way. As he neared chrysalis looked his direction in time to see moonlight reflect off of one of his remaining scales. Her eyes widened as she realized she was in danger and made to escape but she was to late. With another primal roar storm left forward and grabbed chrysalis by her horn and shooting flames on the ground in a circle around himself. "Call a retreat now or lose your horn bitch." storm said staring hard into chrysalis eyes and she nodded in agreement as slowly the changelings backed away and disappeared into the night. Satisfied storm took a look at the damage many dead changelings lay on the ground and a few unconscious ponies some severely wounded. "This is the second time I have held your life in my hands and let you live don't make it a third cause you won't live through that one." storm said releasing the battered changeling and watching her leave. "You will regret this day dragon mark my words." Chrysalis sneered before she disappeared into the shadow. "Remember what I said" storm shot back before turning to face his friends with a warm smile. Everyone was battered and bruised after the battle but still they smiled. "IT would seem you have more than earned you place in the guard storm, but not just any guard will do no you are to be the Guard captain." Luna said coming forward and wrapping storm in a warm hug which he gladly returned before succumbing to his injurious and fainting on the spot. Storm awoke three days later in the hospital with twilight asleep at the foot of his bed and the rest of the main six scattered across the room all asleep. and next to his bed storm found a vase of beautiful flowers with a note that read get well soon and welcome to the guard signed luna and celestia. //-------------------------------------------------------// glmpse of the past //-------------------------------------------------------// glmpse of the past As storm lay unconscious in the hospital the day to day workings of equestria continued especially that of the princess. Ever since storms arrival in equestria celestia has been wary of him based on what her sister told of him but in all the time he has been here storm has never shown any violence when it wasn't necessary. Luna must have been mistaken celestia thought to herself the young dragon was nothing but kind and gentle fluttershy has attested to that end many times when he helped her, many ponies grow impatient and angry with fluttershys timid ways but not storm. Celestia loved and trusted her sister but surely she must be mistaken maybe she brought the wrong person to equestria and it was to this end that the solar regent sought out her sister late that evening after the sun was set and the moon had risen. As she approached those familiar oaken doors celestia drew in a calming breath and raised a hoof to knock. "The door is open" luna said from inside surprising celestia to no end. And so celestia entered the dark room, no matter how many times she saw it celstia's breath always caught at the sight of lunas room. Lunas room was large and ornate just like hers with a large bed, a desk, a large window some seats and other things. But lunas room was a dark blue with the moon and stars on her ceiling, and with every night the constellations and moon would move just like it would in the sky outside. Celestia couldn't help but stare in awe for a few seconds before addressing her sister who was watching her with a amused expression from the window balcony. "Not that it is any trouble tia but what brings you here at this time" luna asked approaching her sister smiling warmly. "actually sister it Is about storm" celestia said meekly expecting some sort of out cry or back lash from her sister. "Its not that I don't trust you sister its just that in all the time that storm has been here he has never harmed anypony and has been nothing but kind to Everypony here. And I cant help but wonder if maybe you brought the wrong pony here in his place." Here luna chuckled warmly confusing celestia who looked at her quizzically waiting for a answer. "Don't worry sister I too have had these thoughts, but I can assure that storm bringer is indeed the one I brought from that dark world." luna said warmly before she took a more thoughtful and serious look and tone. "But he is acting in stark contrast to how I found him so I wonder if this is his real personality or just a elaborate façade?" A long silence ensued as the sisters pondered this question with no conceivable way to answer it without risking insult or injury. "I know how to solve this problem" luna said looking rather proud of herself and smiling at celestia. "To decide if this is indeed his true personality we must look back at storms life before he came to equestria." Luna said walking towards her desk and picking up a large book with her magic before returning to celestia. "I know for a fact that for all of his adult life storm was a cruel being so we must dive deeper into his child hood to find what caused this change." Luna said reading from the book and her horn lighting up as she charged a spell then when she released it both her and celestia were engulfed in a blinding light. When the light faded the sisters found they weren't in lunas room but outside a small home and upon further inspection the sisters identified this place as a farm or ranch much to their surprise. Unsure of what to do celestia looked to her sister to see that luna had approached the house and was standing before a large window smiling warmly as she gazed inside. Once beside her sister celestia found why she was smiling the house was much like the apple family farm it was small but warm welcoming and full of laughter. And as the sisters watched several young ones passed the window all chasing a boy in a overly large Stetson into another room. The sisters fallowed them to the next room via a window and watched as they chased each other laughing without a care in the world. The chase continued for a few minute until two adults came in the room and got the children to settle down all save the boy in the Stetson. The boy ran across the room to the window that celestia and luna were looking through and when he stood in a chair celestia let out a startled gasp and looked to her sister who nodded in agreement to her unasked question. Celestia could tell by the eyes that the child in front of her was storm, granted they weren't the same color but the youthful love and uncharacteristic wisdom that seemed to pour from this child was defiantly storms. As celestia stared the child was called back to the table where he was seated and a large cake was placed before him while everyone sang a happy birthday and he blew out the candles and young storms face lit up with glee. But it was short lived for as everyone settled into their places around the table a horrendous crash sounded from the front of the house. Everyone including the princess jumped at the startling sound but no one had the time to move as three masked individuals rushed into the house and held the family at gun point. And immediately began screaming at the father while all the children cried and the mother desperately tried to calm them. The father refused what ever the men were asking for and was slapped across the face with a gun and one of the men grabbed the nearest child which happened to be storm and held him at gun point. Here tears ran down the fathers cheeks as he pleaded with the men telling them he didn't have what they were searching for but he only angered the men further. Infuriated the leader leveled his gun on the mother and shot, and before she hit the floor more shots rang out as the father and all of storms sibling's dropped dead around him. Storm had gone limp in his captors hands by this time staring blankly at the place where his father once sat completely ignoring his captors until they struck him across the face to gain his attention. Where they proceeded to beat him and scream at him to give them what they were looking for but he refused and was almost shot himself before sirens sounded outside and the men panicked and fled. Leaving a broken storm on the floor who crawled to his parents and tried to wake them from their supposed slumber to no avail. Finally people in uniforms swarmed the house and grabbed storm who was kicking and screaming as they dragged him from the house and as he left and the door closed behind them the scene before them faded until the sisters were back in luna's room. A long silence followed as the sisters tried to absorb what they just saw and both couldn't hold back tears as they recalled storms face as he was dragged away. "I believe it is safe to say that what we are seeing is indeed storms true personality" luna said her voice quivering slightly before the two burst into uncontrollable sobs. This continued on for a few minutes until luna remembered something she heard chrysalis say last night during her attack and storms reaction. He left with a spring in his step and followed twilight back to the library talking about everything under the sun along the way. The two of them were so engrosed in a converstaion about the princesses, twilight focusing on celestia and storm on luna, that they almost ran headlong into the front door. With a nervous chuckle twilight finally managed to get the door open and let themselves in only to be greeted by a loud "surprise" that nearly knocked the two of them off their feet. As it turns out pinkie pie had a party waiting for them to get home and everyone was there even the princesses. As is to be expected the library was decorated with streamers and even a large banner that said "Happy Realeased From The Hospital Day Storm". Storm laughed warmly a deep pleasant laugh that got everyone laughing as well. "Wow thanks guys i dont know what to say I didnt think you would miss me this much." Storm said smileing at his freinds. "Why of course we missed ya sugar cube" applejack said coming forward and huggin him warmly followed by everyone else directly after. The last one was Luna and as she came forward her horn lit up and a rather large package appeared inbetween her and storm. Earning her a confused look from said dragon before he pulled her into a tight embrace before turning to the large packinge with curiosity. "So do you plan on telling me whats inside here" storm said as he tried to lift the large bag to have it come off the ground with no effort. "No i wont that would defeat the purpose of it being a gift you fool." Luna said laughing lightly at storms confused face as he placed the bag back on the ground and looked at her questioningly. "You didn't have to get me anything its not like its my birthday or anything" storm said releasing the princess to stare at the bag in confusion. "No its not for your birthday this gift is rather practical and to commemorate your joining my lunar guard. So are you going to open it or are you going to keep everpony waiting?" Luna said motioning to everyone else in the room who were looking at the bag in confusion same as storm. Shrugging his shoulders storm grabbed the bag and pulled it open to have multiple pieces of metal clatter to the floor. Causing everyone save luna to jump in surprise at the loud noise and then stare at the odd assortment of metal on the floor before them. When no one made a move to pick up the pieces luna shook her head and laughed as her horn and the metal lit up the color of her aura. Then they floated towards a stunned storm and began to cover him until all that could be seen was his eyes peeking out from under a helmet atop his head. Then Luna's horn lit up again but this time a mirror was brought in front of storm who gasped at his reflection. From head to toe and the tip of his tail storm was encased in a dark blue armor that matched Luna's coat with her cutie mark on his chest and a small white dash on his right shoulder. Storm began to stir a little under the armor and began to move and the armor weighed next to nothing and hampered him very little. He even went so far as to stretch his wings to find they too had something on them but it was almost like it wasn't their with how light it was. Storm turned to thank Luna but she wasn't next to him anymore but on one of the large couches talking with her sister. When she saw storm looking at her she gave him a warm smile before returning her attention to her sister. The party lasted throughout the day and well into the night until, slowly everyone said their goodbyes until it was just Luna, storm, and twilight in the library. Siting on one of the couches just enjoying each others company, talking quietly until Luna looked to the clock and let out a disappointed sigh and stood. "Sadly it is time I leave" she said before heading to the door and stopping to look at storm. "I almost forgot tomorrow night you start your duty's as captain of the guard. You will report to the courtyard in full armor at dusk for you're orders." Luna said before stepping out the door and teleporting to the balcony outside her room where she patiently awaited the rising of the sun so she could lower her moon and rest. Meanwhile storm and twilight cleaned the library shortly there after twilight went to bed and storm went outside for a quick flight to clear his head. All throughout the party storms thoughts kept wondering towards Luna, his feelings for her, how did chrysalis know about it, and what was he going to do about it. Storm let out a exasperated sigh as he took to the skys and tried to clear his mind and revel in the beauty of the night. But it only reminded him of Luna it was her that created each and every night after all, making it beautiful much like herself a treasure very few ever get to see. With a heavy sigh storm closed his eyes and let the wind carry him wherever it may and blow his mind clear as he glided across the night sky. After a sort while storm opened his eyes with a start for before him was canterlot looming in front of him so inviting but the last place storm wanted to be tonight. "How would I ever tell her how I feel" storm sighed looking at the castle before veering off and landing on a cliff a ways off. As Luna let her magic build she watched over her little ponies as they slept. Its true that Luna loved her subjects just as much as her sister but she rarely got to see or speak to them. So she watched and protected them the only way she could, by keeping their nights and dreams as peaceful as possible. It was as she was watching over the realm of dreams that Luna found a familiar mind but it was heavily troubled and burdened, and it seemed to be getting closer. And just as she pondered what burdened this poor soul she saw a familiar glint of moonlight off of scales. As a figure was outlined against the moon first heading towards canterlot before veering of to the mountains outside the castle walls. She caught a small fragment of its thought's before she realized it was storm. "How would I ever tell her how I feel" Luna pondered the meaning of these words as she took off after her scaled friend determined to set his mind at ease. And as she drew closer she could here storm moving about talking to himself his voice dripping with frustration. When she landed Luna stayed back for a while hopeing to catch a bit of information that may help her put storms mind at ease. As she waited her patience payed off when storm let out an exasperated sigh and sat down on the edge cliff right in front of where Luna was hiding. "How exactly am I supposed to tell Luna I love her and what if she doesn't feel the same about me?" storm questioned out loud causing Luna to let out a startled gasp. "He loves me how can he love me he hardly knows me?" Luna thought to herself,she knew she had feelings for him as well though she was afraid to act on them. For what if he returned to his old ways the way he was in his world. How would she deal with that having to destroy something she loved? But with each passing day as Luna watched storm was always kind and now she understood the pain of his past life. Granted she still loathed his actions there, but something like that could never happen to him here so. Deciding to through caution to the wind Luna stepped from the shadows and sat next to storm who stiffened and almost ran before he realized it was Luna. "How long have you been there?" he croaked leaving his face in his hands and glancing at Luna out of the corner of his eyes. Luna gently placed a hoof under storms chin and lifted his head until he was looking her in the eye. "I have been here long enough to know how to put your mind at ease." Luna said before leaning forward and capturing storms lips in a soft passionate kiss. Storm cringed at first but slowly began to relax and melt into the kiss until the two had to separate for air. Storm stared at Luna confused with a goofy grin and Luna looked away a dark blush visible beneath her coat. "How long have you known you love me?" Luna asked still blushing profusely but facing storm now. "Ever since the battle with the changelings, I've had feelings for you but wasn't sure of them until after I had to face chrysalis. And what about you, how long have you felt this way and didn't tell me?" Storm said eyeing Luna carefully trying to gauge her reaction. Again Luna blushed even more though she still faced storm determined to see his reaction. "I've had feelings for you since shortly after we met. You have been nothing but kind to me and everpony else, but you are also willing to defend us even though you've only known us a month at the most. Two great quality's rarely found in a stallion... or dragon in this day and age." Luna said matter of factly watching storm break out into a goofy grin before he grabbed her and pulled her into a tight hug. The two spent most of the night like this contentedly leaning against each other until the hour grew late and Luna had to leave. As she did storm remembered something he was supposed to ask her and jumped up exclaiming. "Luna wait I forgot their is something I need to ask you." "And what would you ask of me my love?" Luna said smiling at the blush that colored storms scales at her use of my love. Storm took a deep breath to gather his nerves and slow his racing heart before he spoke. "through out my study's with twilight the topic of the mare in the moon continuously came up but she refused to speak of it. Saying it was something I needed to ask you. please what is the mare in the moon?" As storm watched it seemed that all the life left Luna's body. As she sighed and took her seat once more motioning for storm to do the same. "That is a long hard story upon which you may not look at me the same ever again. So are you sure you want to hear this?" Luna asked calmly getting a nod from storm saying he wanted to hear it. And Luna shared the story of the mare in the moon and nightmare moon and what she almost did. Upon finishing she expected to find storm gone but he was still beside her looking at her questioningly earning a raised eyebrow from the princess. "What you did yesterday doesn't matter to me Luna. I judge based on what you do today and what we try to accomplish tomorrow." Storm said before wraping her in his wings and hugging her close. When storm released her the two said their goodbyes and went their separate ways home. Completely unaware that a certain queen had seen the entire exchange from a cloud over head, and a nasty plan was building in her mind. As to how she would use storms and Luna's love for each other against them. Only to be startled completely awake by the feeling of the once stable couch rising into the air and wobbling slightly. Slightly agitated that his sleep had been interrupted storm flipped over to find the couch he was resting on was floating about five feet off the ground. With spike and twilight scurrying across the already spotless library cleaning messes only they could see. When the couch was finally returned to its rightful place storm stood and stretched before turning to twilight with a confused look. "So would you mind telling me why your cleaning house this early in the morning?" Storm said only to have twilight spin around and stare at him as if he just asked the dumbest question in the world. "We are cleaning this early because a few minutes ago we received a letter from celestia. Saying she is coming to the library to talk to you and the library is in no condition to be housing royalty." Twilight said as if it was obvious though she sounded quite nervous as she said this. "Twilight you are being ridiculous this place is spotless how could it not be clean enough to have celestia visit?" Storm asked exasperation evident on his voice. Twilight made as if to reply but was silenced by the sound of wings outside the door quickly fallowed by a light knock on the door. "Well I wonder who that could be" storm said sarcastically before approaching the door and opening it to reveal. None other than princess celestia herself standing their a strange look visible behind her smile. Storm bowed deeply before moving aside to allow the princess entry only to have her shake her head no saying. "Actually I would like to talk with you in private so storm if you would please follow me and sorry twilight ." The apology aimed at her faithful student who released a sigh of both disappointment and relief. The rest aimed at storm with a look that said it was more of command than a request. Shaking his head slightly storm didn't know what to make of these events and so he agreed to go with celestia waving goodbye to twilight as he left. The flight to canterlot was quite and slow with storm noticing celestia look at him puzzled out of the corner of his eyes on numerous occasions. When they finally arrived at canterlot storm expected for celestia to head to the castle or at least her chamber's. But to storms surprise she heads to towards garden surrounding the sides of the castle. Once their celestia didn't say a word only motioning for storm to follow as she moved deeper into the labyrinth that is the royal gardens. celestia stopped when they reached a small clearing with a creek flowing lazily through with flowers of all the colors of the rainbow on its bank shadowed by a large tree overlooking it. Here she turned to face storm with a strange look causing him to pause and stare at the princess confused. "So tell me storm just when did you start to love my sister and why?" celestia asked catching storm completely by surprise as his jaw moved But he was to dumbstruck by her abrupt question to speak. Finally realizing he looked like a moron standing their like he was storm cleared his throat and thought to himself. How does she know I love Luna..... wait their sisters of course they would tell each other these things. Storm groaned loudly as he let his head sag back and his shoulders slump he knew where this was going and he wasn't going to like it one bit. Storm took a seat across from celestia motioning for her to do the same and when she did he began to speak. "It might sound clichéd but it was love at first sight" storm said chuckling. "She is absolutely beautiful what's not to love she is smart, funny, and a all around amazing pony once you get to know her." Storm said a small smile creeping across his face as he spoke earning a grin from the princess. "But even more so I feel like I owe her" storm said surprising celestia as she leaned in to show she was listening. "Ever since I met her I have loved her but I also fell like she has done me some form of favor that I will never be able to repay." Here storm glanced at celestia to gauge her reaction this was her sister he was talking about. Celestia had a sort of far off almost knowing look on her face before it vanished when she saw storm was watching her. "Has she told you about her past?" celestia asked watching storm as well as his eyes clouded slightly with unshed tears. "I don't want you to get into this without knowing all that needs to be known" celestia said laying a hoof on storms knee. "I will tell you the same thing I told Luna." storm said his eyes keeping their clouded look. "The past doesn't matter as much as what you do today, weather or not you learn from your mistakes and get better from them. That is what I look at when I meet somepony new." "Those are wise words my young friend" celestia said smiling warmly at storm. "Not many ponies think like that anymore. It reminds me of times past..... I hope you two find all that your looking for in each other." She said pulling storm into a hug before releasing him a stern expression back on her face. "I don't believe I have to tell you what will happen to you if you hurt my sister?" celestia said causing storm to laugh heartily earning a angry look from the princess. When she made to speak storm stopped her and said. ""Please princess I aint laughing at you I have no doubt you would put me through a world of hurt if I broke your sisters heart. Its just I doubt you would get the chance cuss Luna would probably kill me herself." This earned a warm smile from celestia who stood and gave storm a hug before excusing herself and heading for the castle. With that done storm took off and headed for the library Thinking to himself. That was better than I expected though it was a lot nicer than the last time I heard that speech. Right as that thought crossed his mind storm stalled in the air and started to hover where he was a confused expression on his face. I have never had one of those "hurt my sister I kill you" speeches before so where the hell did that though come from? Confused storm hovered their for a while to puzzle this out. Only to discover he couldn't remember where or how but had indeed heard that speech before and it irked him to no end. But he decided to push it away and think on it later the sun was siting low in the sky and he needed to get to the library. Finely satisfied with his handy work storm donned his armor and made for canterlot castle as the sun was setting on the horizon. Storm watched it set, no matter how many times he saw it he was always awestruck by its beauty and the sheer power it would take to move the moon and sun. As that thought crossed his mind he was reminded of the events of the day and shook it off with a shudder He needed to concentrate on the task at hand. He arrived at canterlot just as the sun slipped past the horizon and the moon was making its journey upward into the sky. Their in the courtyard to greet him was Luna and multiple guards on either side of varying rank based on their armor. When he landed storm immediately dropped into a bow as the princess trotted up to him a wide grin on her face, though it turned to a frown at his display. "I would have thought we would be past such formality's after last night my love" Luna said raising a quizzical eyebrow at storm as he stood. "Please forgive me my dear" storm said a radiant smile on his face earning a smile from Luna. "But you of anypony would understand if I told you I wasn't sure if last night wasn't just a dream." Storm shied away slightly when Luna's expression threatened to turn wrathful. But it was quickly replaced by a devious smile as Luna pulled storm closer with a wing to whisper in his ear. "I can assure you my love our time on the mountain was not a dream" earning a relived sigh from storm. "But I did see what transpired within your dreams and I must say it was rather sweet of you. Now we will have to see if you can treat me in such a way when you are awake." She said as she released storm to see a deep crimson blush staining the entirety of his face earning a slight chuckle from Luna as the two looked into each others eyes. The sound of shifting hooves and uncomfortable groaning pulled the two lovers back to reality as Luna eyed her guards with frustration and storm grinned at them sheepishly. Luna made as if to speak before a shocked expression overtook her to be quickly replaced by one of frustration. "I thought I told you ponies to show yourselves to your new captain and to not sneak about tonight." She said turning to look at her shadow reproachfully storm was going to ask to whom was she talking to before his jaw dropped to the floor. As he watched two ponies seemed to melt from Luna's shadow and they were like no pony storm had ever seen. Both ponies had cat like eyes the stallion of a light red and the mares a bright yellow. Not only that both ponies had wings but not your normal wings like Everypony else. No their wings were those of bats or dragons and they were as black as the darkest of nights. Both eyed storm with scorn and suspicion before the mare spoke. "Please forgive us princess but we don't trust this one." She said motioning to storm with a nod of her head. "We didn't want to show ourselves unless we needed to." Everypony gathered gasped as the mare said this looking first at her as if she were mad and to Luna expecting her to strike the pony down where she stood. A awkward silence fallowed the mares statement before Luna finally spoke. "I would have thought that Surely my word should have been enough to calm your suspicions shadow." she said staring down the mare awaiting her reply. "In other times it may have been my lady" shadow said bowing before the princess all the while keeping a wary eye on storm. "But ever since the two failed attempts at a changeling invasion we have been wary of any new comer especially in situations like this." "Have you forgotten that storm helped fight off the second invasion shadow?" luna said irritation lacing her words. Without answering Both shadow and her companion put themselves between storm and Luna circling him like a cat would a cornered mouse. Luna made as if to intervene but caught storms eyes where he motioned for her to wait and see what happened. Slowly the two ponies got closer and closer to storm to the point that he couldn't move without hitting one or the other. Then just as suddenly as they began the two stopped in front of storm blocking all but themselves out of his line of sight with their wings. "So tell me dragon why are you here really?" shadow said the sarcasm in her voice unmistakable. Storm rolled his eyes and sighed in frustration and replied "I would have thought that was obvious." he said " I am here at the request of princess Luna to take the roll of captain of the lunar guard." "Ok dragon but tell me this" shadow said again circling storm while her companion remained in front of him. "What do you know of leadership, what makes you think you are worthy of this title and rank?" Here storm chuckled and made as if to speak but nothing came out. Almost as if in response to shadows question storm went rigid and his eyes fogged over slightly, and when he spoke his voice was different almost like it was echoing. "What do I know of leadership you ask?" storm said his cloudy gaze falling on shadow. "I have commanded many a mind to do many things and lost many many more and felt the burden of their loss on my conscious. Leadership is both a blessing and a curse with it you can do many a great thing. But also you can ruin many a life and abuse the power that comes along with leadership. So to answer your question I know all I need to get the job done." As storm said this he remembered that he had indeed had many under his command, and lost more than he could count. Slowly storm relaxed and his eyes lost their haze. The first thing he saw was lunas look of horror before she masked with one of confusion mimicking Everypony else. Storm visibly shook as he returned to himself his face etched with worry as he recalled those vague memory's and his lovers face. "What is with these memories popping up in my head I hope it stops soon it looks like I scared Luna just now. " Storm thought to himself before doing a mental note to do some research when he gets back to the library. Luna was the first to regain her composure and began to stare at shadow reproachfully before speaking. "Their I hope that answers you questions shadow. Now if you will excuse us I must introduce storm to his peers and his new duty's." Without even waiting for a reply from the stunned mare Luna brushed past her to escort storm towards the gathered guards and inside as she explained his duty's as captain. After introducing storm to his new responsibilities Luna politely excused herself and retreated to her chambers her anxiety visible in every step she took. 'I feared this would happen" Luna thought to herself as she entered her chambers. "But I had hoped it would not, now I must either try and stop his memory's from returning or let them come and see what he becomes. He has even managed to earn the trust of all the other ponies save shadow. Who wasn't so distant and untrusting but she still watched storm when she thought he couldn't see her. It has gone from late spring to mid fall and to storms relief he has had no more strange memory's during that time. Now he had more important things on his mind like the up coming nightmare night. And it was with the upcoming festivity's in mind that he payed a visit to the smith to have his armor altered just a little. Especially since he had offered to help Luna that night. As storm discussed the altercations with the royal smith a all to familiar scene was unfolding in a far away cave. In the dimly lit cave chrysalis was drawing many elaborate circles and glyphs across the caverns floor. Satisfied she dropped her chalk and turned to one of many changelings behind her and said. "Under no circumstances am I to be disturbed this will require all my concentration." With that said chrysalis turned and made for the center of the elaborate drawing thinking to herself. nightmare night is two days away that gives me time to recall a true nightmare from where she was cast. And seeing as I have returned her she will be in my debt and will have no choice but to aid me in my quest for vengeance. Those fools wont know what hit them I cant wait to see the look on celestia's face when I have defeated them. As she neared the center of the drawings chrysalis's horn and eyes began to glow as she sat and began to chant in a language thought long dead in equestria. For the rest of that day, the fallowing night, and the next morning chrysalis chanted completely oblivious to the world around her. As the day drew to its end the chanting finally ceased and chrysalis stared at the space before her for a long while before letting out a frustrated sigh. Mumbling to herself chrysalis tried to stand but found she couldn't she was then surprised to find a strange dark blue orb floating in the air before her. She sat their staring at the orb for what felt like hours before it began to pulse rapidly and a teal cat like eye appeared and stared at chrysalis. Stunned chrysalis stared at the eye completely missing the dark blue tendril of magic snaking from the orb until it contacted her horn where she screamed in agony. The longer the tendril stayed the larger the orb became and the more agonized chrysalis's screams became. Then after a blinding flash of light the screams ceased and when the light faded away it revealed a new figure standing over the prostrate form or chrysalis. The figures eyes snapped open to reveal teal catlike eyes and a wide grin spread showing fangs and predator like teeth.The pony was as tall as celestia and as black as a starless sky its main was dark blue with spots like stars. Then chrysalis stirred below the figure giggling uncontrollably before she broke into full on hysterical laughter. When she opened her eyes gone was the cold calculating glare replaced by a insane unfocused stare that unnerved all who saw it. When her eyes finally found the figure above her chrysalis crawled from beneath it and came unsteadily to her feet. "Welcome back nightmare moon" She said snickering slightly one of her eyes twitching and her whole body swaying back and forth. "Now that you are here we can move to ponyvile and conquer the princesses on nightmare night. so let us go the celebration is tonight and we wouldn't want to be late." As she said this chrysalis turned and trotted unsteadily from the cavern leaving nightmare moon standing where she was. Nightmare rose a questioning eyebrow as she watched the crazed queen leave before shaking her head and following her down the tunnel. Nightmare night The celebrations were in full swing in ponyvile as all the ponies ran back in forth between getting candy and the nights activity's. All the elements were their and dressed in similar costumes as the year before all save pinkie who was a turkey of all things. All completely unaware of a single shadow flying past the moon until a long low growl spread across the town. Causing all the ponies to stop and look up just in time to see the shadow dive and then seconds later impact the ground sending up a cloud of dust on impact. The elements were the first to the scene as they stood staring at the cloud rainbow dash was the first to speak. "What kind of idiot would crash right into the ground I mean its a good entrance but stupid and even dangerous." She said right as flames came shooting out of the cloud missing rainbow but coming close enough for her to feel the heat. She jumped back with a yelp as deep foreboding laughter came from the now thinning cloud of dust. "I would recognize that flame anywhere" said twilight looking puzzled at the figure that was now visible in the dust. She made as if to speak but was cut off by more laughter and the sound of heavy footsteps and the scraping of metal on metal. "Very good young twilight I see your observation skills are still sharp" When they heard this voice all the girls jaws dropped and they stared as the figure came fully out of the dust. It was tall and covered head to toe in a familiar dark armor though the blades that ran the length of his wings and the spiked ball on his tail were new. All the girls knew it was storm but something was off he was completely stoic and his eyes were glowing red from beneath his helmet. His emotionless gaze took in all the girls before him and all the ponies coming from behind them. Applejack was the first to break the silence with a good laugh and say " Storm you bout scared us to death with this stunt what was ya thinking?" Storm didn't answer he simply reached over his shoulder and pulled out a broad sword almost as tall as him and swung it threateningly towards the girls causing them to jump back with a surprised yelp. He then placed the blade tip down into the ground and leaned against the flat of it. "Hear me citizens of ponyvile" he said yelling so all gathered could hear him. " I am the herald of the true princess of the night and ruler of equestria Nightmare Moon." As storm said this the sky behind him grew dark with storm clouds that released sporadic bolts of lightning and a shadow again crossed the moon. But this time it was a chariot and as it drew closer all gathered let out a gasp of shock. For standing at the head of the chariot was none other than nightmare moon and when the chariot settled she stepped off the chariot she had a chain wrapped one of her fore hooves. Which she gave a yank on and a beaten and battered celestia limped out of the chariot and sat at the feet of her captor. At this sight Everypony gathered dropped to the ground some even began to cry. All save twilight who just stared before trying to get closer only to be stopped by storms sword. Twilight looked up at him pleadingly only to find him looking not at her but at nightmare moon who nodded with a devilish grin on her face and storm let her pass. She continued until she was right in front of nightmare moon and the princess completely ignoring nightmare focusing only on celestia. "..h..how did this happen" twilight said on the verge of tears starring at celestia pleadingly. The princess made as if to speak but was cut off by a sharp yank on the chain around her neck which caused twilight to stare at nightmare moon with barely contained hatred. "Allow me to tell you twilight it was truly a simple matter." Nightmare said that evil grin still on her face. "I found a way back here after you fools defeated me and I waited for the right moment to strike." Here she looked up at storm and continued her tale. "This nice young dragon provided the perfect opportunity I simply had to corrupt his mind then reconquer Luna while they were alone. after that was done it was a simple matter to defeat my sister and take my rightful place as ruler." When she finished speaking she looked back to twilight still grinning and asked "Any questions little one?" Twilight didn't respond she simply stared at nightmare moon before letting her head drop in defeat. At this sight Nightmare Moon through her head back laughing manically "well now that is out of the way I have only one more thing to say" she said motioning towards storm who moved to her side without a word. "Citizens of ponyvile" she said her horn glowing and enveloping her storm and celestia in her blue aura and with a bright flash. Celestia was released and unharmed smiling sheepishly, Luna stood in the place of night mare moon, and storms eyes were back to normal with a huge grin on his face. "Happy Nightmare Night" Everypony just stared uncomprehending for a long while until some began to chuckle nervously and the start all out laughing at each others expressions until they heard a all to familiar voice behind them all say. "Well well what a show" Everyone either spun around or stared at the new arrival their standing before them was chrysalis and her hoard. "Oh don't stop on our account" Chrysalis said giggling and swaying side to side before she jumped excitedly and said. "No do wait their is something we were wanting to show you isn't that right Nightmare Moon?" "That's right chrysalis their is something I would like to show Everypony." Said a voice directly behind the princesses that made everyone jump and turn in time to see storm get blasted back by a bolt of magic from the real nightmare moon. And then see her and the princesses disappear behind a dark blue dome. "Luna" storm roared as he threw himself against the barrier to no avail. Upon realizing he was getting no where storm spun around and charged chrysalis completely ignoring the battle going on around him. Just as he came within striking distance Chrysalis's eyes began to glow and storm fell to his knees and skidded to a stop directly in front of her. Chuckling chrysalis walked around the now hypnotized storm and went to the dome and waited on her ally and magic to do their jobs. Though the battle raged on around him at a stalemate to storms eyes the battle had been lost and their before him were the elements of harmony. All bound and held in place by a changeling each had either a pleading look as they stared at storm or had accepted defeat. As storm watched chrysalis walked in front of the girls and stopped at pinkie pie who happened to be on the end farthest from storm. "Element of laughter" chrysalis said stroking pinkies mane before her horn began to glow along with pinkies mouth. As storm watched pinkies mouth was forced open and her tongue pulled out by chrysalis magic which then slammed pinkies mouth shut effectively cutting off her tongue. Pinkie's eyes nearly bugged out of her head and teared up as she screamed in pain and blood flowed past her lips. The rest of the girls gasped in horror as chrysalis got in pinkies face and said. "Try laughing without a tongue" before breaking into crazed laughter. Pinkie stopped screaming and gave chrysalis a look that said " challenge accepted" and opened her mouth "Ha Ha Ha" was all she got out before chrysalis horn and pinkies head glowed and pinkies head was spun one direction with a loud crack and her body fell limp. Storm Screamed in rage and fought against his restraints but couldn't break them as chrysalis moved to rarity next. "Ahh element of generosity and a accomplished fashion-ista" Chrysalis said as her horn lit up again along with rarity's eyes. with a sickening wet snap chrysalis pulled rarity's eyes from their sockets and let them fall to them fall to the ground as blood streamed down her face Chrysalis leaned in and said. "Lets see you judge fashion without you eyes rarity." Rarity stopped her screaming and faced towards chrysalis staring at her with her dark blood stained sockets and said. "I don't need my eyes to know you look like shit darling" Chrysalis let a angry growl before snapping rarity's neck the same as pinkie and letting her body drop. Next chrysalis continued down the line to twilight breaking off her horn and then breaking her neck. She broke applejacks legs and then her neck, She broke rainbows wings then her neck then she just snapped fluttershy's neck. To stunned to process what he was seeing storm stared in horror at the scene before him. Before him blood was everywhere and bones sticking out of flesh. But the worst was the way even with their heads at a unnatural angle they stared at storm in fogged over hatred. As if they blamed him for their deaths, even though he knew he couldn't do anything storms heart sank at the sight. Finished with her horrid display she turned to face storm with a monstrous grin before flicking her eyes to something behind him. Their came a sick tearing sound followed by a loud thump right by storm and a muffled scream. Storm was forcibly spun around and his heart skipped several beats and his breath caught in his throat. Right in front of him was celestia's head and it was staring at him as her eyes glazed over in death and what was left of her main stilled and faded to grey as blood pooled beneath it. Then his eyes snapped up when he saw movement and their beaten and bound was Luna with nightmare moon right behind her and celestia's body tossed carelessly aside in a pool of blood.. Storm thrashed madly against his restraints to the point of dislocating his shoulders and a wrist. Admitting defeat storm slowly looked back to Luna to see nightmare gone and have Luna mouth I Love you. Before her eyes went big and her chest was stained red and she fell forward to reveal a smiling nightmare moon with a blood stained horn laughing at him. Storms mind snapped he lost all will to live as he was beginning to fade into unconsciousness the scene before him began to flicker and change. Until their before him wasn't Luna's corpse but that of a man and the longer storm stared at it the more he thought he knew the man. And then with a burning pain and agonizing scream everything came rushing back to storm. His childhood, his life afterword's, his rise to power, his death and finely the deal he made with Luna. Storm closed his eyes in agony and when he opened them again the scene was different their were no dead ponies just a battle that he didn't even see it. Their was only one thing on his mind revenge and chrysalis and he would be damned to hell if he didn't kill her for this. //-------------------------------------------------------// dragons rage part 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// dragons rage part 2 The sounds of battle could barely be heard by the three beneath the magical dome. The two princesses stared at their opponent with a mixture of fear and unbridled hatred. For the longest time the three just stared, the princesses tried to ready themselves for the attack that was bound to come. But were shocked when instead of attacking nightmare moon let her head drop and said just barely above a whisper. "I don't expect you to believe me but I am truly sorry for the things I have done in the past". Not another word was spoken as Nightmare Moon slowly looked back up at Celestia and Luna causing Luna to let out a surprised gasp. Since Luna was able to walk in ponies dreams she had learned a trick or two. One of them being able to tell when a pony was lying and despite everything that her anger and mistrust was telling her deep down she knew Nightmare Moon wasn't lying. "What caused this miraculous change of heart Nightmare last we met you were hell bent on plunging equestria in eternal night". Luna said watching as nightmare visibly flinched at the mention of her past she made as if to speak but was cut off by Celestia. "Luna, you can't be honestly thinking she is telling the truth we must destroy her before she does the same to us" Celestia said starring at her sister as if she just suggested she get sent to the moon again for no good reason other than she liked it there. Luna didn't even answer her sister she just watched nightmare moon patiently waiting for her answer. It finally came with a sad sigh and nightmare dropping to a siting position her head hung low staring at the ground. "As you can see the elements of harmony didn't destroy me" she said motioning to herself. "Instead they simply removed me from Luna and banished me to a parallel plane of existence. A place where I could see everything that went on here but at a accelerated rate. For every day that passed here one thousand years would pass in that nether realm and at first I raged and conspired to destroy you I wont lie about that." Nightmare said looking at the sisters ashamed trying to judge their expressions. Luna showed a mixture of disbelief and understanding where as Celestia was staring at nightmare as if she were telling a sick joke no one wanted to hear.At least Luna seams to believe me that in itself is a miracle Nightmare thought to herself before continuing her tale. "And as I watched I began to think in depth on my plan to figure out where I went wrong how I could have come out on top. But I couldn't find a way only the startling realization that the future I sought would have destroyed Equestria and left its ponies in fear. I realized this because this wasn't the only reality I could see, their was another much like this one the only difference was. The elements failed to defeat me and I had killed you Celestia instead." Nightmare didn't get any farther in her tale for right as she spoke those last words Celestia lost any of semblance of patience. With a fierce scream she struck nightmare moon time and again both physically and magically. But never once did Nightmare strike back or even try to defend herself she just took it. Finally having exhausted herself Celestia relented and backed away from the cowering form of Nightmare Moon. "What are you playing at Nightmare Moon" Celestia screamed "Why don't you defend yourself what has gotten into you?" Nightmare Moon slowly got to her trembling feet her bleeding and battered body swaying from side to side. She looked up to celestia one of her eyes bloodshot and she was bleeding from many cuts on her face and part of one of her fangs missing. "I don't defend myself because I deserve this and much much more Celestia." Nightmare Moon said with a sad smile. "I will accept any fate you bestow on me with a clean conscious." Here Celestia made as if to speak but she was silenced by a hard glare from Luna. who got a appreciative nod from Nightmare Moon " I Say this because weather or not you believe me or not doesn't matter. As long as I know im telling the truth then I am all right so tell me princess's what will you do with me" she said bowing and offering herself to them as a prisoner. Celestia was the first to regain her composure and was about give Nightmare Moon her sentence when a agonized scream split the air causing the princesses to look to one another in alarm. "Your judgment will wait for another time" Luna said staring at Nightmare Moon in fear. "As of now you will drop this barrier and aid us in purging this town of the changelings." Nightmare Moon nodded in acknowledgement but just as her horn began to glow to dispel the shield a thunderous impact sounded outside surprising them all yet again. When the barrier finally fell the battle had ceased and all eyes were on something to the princesses left. When they looked they all gasped and Luna even began to cry for Storm had Chrysalis pinned to a tree and was stroking her main while his face showed no emotion. Then Luna began to cry even harder as Storm leaned towards Chrysalis as if to kiss her or whisper in her ear Luna was about to charge the pair blindly until Nightmare stopped her with a hoof and motioned for her to watch. And as she watched Storm leaned in and spoke into Chrysalis's ear loud enough that everyone heard. "You know the last ones to take everything away from me got away before I could pay them in kind." Storm said softly while caressing Chrysalis horn softly causing her to shiver in delight at the sensation. "That's a shame my love" Chrysalis said giggling slightly only to gasp in shock as storm squeezed with all his might on her horn and throat. "Yes it was a shame" Storm said his voice rising and pure rage becoming apparent on his face. "But you wont be so lucky you WILL PAY FOR ALL YOU HAVE TAKEN FROM ME!!!!!!!!" Storm screamed as he snapped Chrysalis's horn from her head earning a agonized scream and shower of magical sparks as it broke off. "That was for twilight" Storm said darkly grinning a grin that would put the joker to shame. Not even hesitating or giving Chrysalis a chance to recover Storm took the broken horn and started to stab it through the base of Chrysalis wings saying as green blood spewed forth. "This is for Fluttershy and Rainbow" Then he took her slowly as if he was cradling her and grabbed one leg at a time and snapped them in half still grinning saying. "This is for Applejack" then when he broke all her legs Storm held the whimpering and screaming queen in front of him at arms length. Looking at her thinking saying "I know I'm missing something" storm said frowning before his face lit up and he looked at Chrysalis in glee. "Now I remember time for Pinkies retribution" as he said this he pried Chrysalis mouth open with one hand and grabbed her tongue and ripped it slowly out more blood spilling from her mouth. "And the last but defiantly not least this is for Rarity." Storm said chuckling darkly sending a shiver down the back of all the onlookers as he reached up and one after the other. Storm plucked her eyes from her head throwing them over his shoulder carelessly. Storm stood their and seemed to admire his handiwork as Chrysalis's screams died down due to blood loss and fatigue. "Oh we arn't done yet little one I still have Luna and Celestia to punish you for." when she heard this Chrysalis despite her fatigue and injury's thrashed and fought trying to be free of Storms grip. Only causing him to laugh even harder at her feeble attempts. Finally growing bored of this Storm picked up the forgotten horn and shoved it viciously through her chest causing Chrysalis to let out a final pained scream before it was cut off by a wet tearing sound as. Storm ripped her head from her shoulders to silence her screaming. As he let her decimated body fall to the ground storm dealt a final form of punishment as blue and white flames consumed her mangled body. All of ponyville was silent at the end of this display the changelings had long since disappeared leaving only the ponies brave enough to fight and the princesses. Slowly storm turned and faced all the ponies behind him his eyes devoid of all life or emotion until he saw nightmare moon. With a rage filled scream he let loose another torrent of flame in her direction. Not even waiting to see if his attack struck he darted into the night sky flying straight up. Until he leveled out heading towards the everfree forest. Pumping his wings madly storm broke the sound barrier and shot off with a loud thunderclap and lightning spreading in his wake. As he flew pieces of armor fell away falling to the ground below him until all that was left was his helmet. Which met the same fate only to land in the ruins in the castle where the elements of harmony were housed. Seconds after the helmet fell storm lost consciousness and plummeted from the sky Luna forgive me for being so weak. Was the last thing to pass through storms mind before all went to black. Mean while in ponyville all was quite and all were gazing ahead in silent horror. Until a pained scream was heard and all looked to see. Nightmare moon and Celestia restraining a frantic Luna from flying after storm. Slowly Luna's strength left her leaving her with only pained sobs. "For now It may be best to give the dragon some space." Nightmare moon said lifting Luna's chin until she was looking her in the eye. "For now let us return to canterlot where you can tell us what is going on with the young dragon." Luna begrudgingly agreed and they all three teleported back to Luna's chambers where she told nightmare all about storm. And filled them both in on how she knew what had happened to him. Somehow all the memories of his past life came back to him and he went berserk. After she was finished speaking Luna again broke down and cried herself to sleep followed shortly by both celestia and Nightmare moon. Somewhere deep in the everfree storm dreamed of his friends and loved ones "lost" his silent whimpers the only sound in the forest. //-------------------------------------------------------// second chances //-------------------------------------------------------// second chances One month has passed since the return of Nightmare Moon and the fall of Chrysalis. And the princesses have come to trust Nightmare Moon she even helps Luna with watching over the night and sometimes calling her sister as time passed. Every night Luna would wait for Storm to return and every morning she would retire to her chambers and cry herself to sleep. With each passing night Luna's mood only grew darker until it reached the point she wouldn't leave her chambers. The only sign that Storm yet lived was the mournful roar that sounded each night as the moon rose into the sky. It was with these events in mind that Nightmare and Celestia met in secret early one night. "This has gone on long enough Nightmare Moon" Celestia said pacing back and forth her head hung low. "With every passing night Luna only grows more distraught and. I cant fathom why Storm remains in the everfree instead of returning here to Luna." Nightmare looked out a nearby window thoughtfully gazing in the general direction of the everfree. "Perhaps Chrysalis tricked the young dragon somehow or convinced him that Luna's love was all a lie." Nightmare said staring out the window until the sound of hooves on the floor ceased and she turned to see Celestia staring at her surprised. "Of course that would explain his behavior" Celestia said coming to stand beside Nightmare and gaze out the window. "But why hasn't he broke free of her spell especially since chrysalis is dead?" "Maybe..." Nightmare began before trailing off back into thought until she saw Celestia starring at her expectantly. "Maybe with the revelation of his past life. Young Storms mind is so broken or at war with itself that he accepted what he saw as fact and didn't even think to question it." Nightmare said looking to celestia with genuine sadness in her eyes "Then that means he would need help from somepony to put his mind at ease." Celestia said an idea forming as she spoke. "Which means that one of us or one of the elements if not all would be needed to convince him that things are all right." "Should we wake Luna and take her with us she would want to have a hoof in this?" Nightmare said glancing in the direction of Luna's chambers. "No let her sleep we are only looking for Storm tonight and only confront him if we need to." Celestia said a quill and paper lit up with her magic something was written and the paper disappeared out the window. "Twilight and her friends will meet us at the edge of the everfree lets not keep them waiting." Celestia said before jumping out the window into the night fallowed shortly after by Nightmare Moon.The two alicorn's flew past the full moon completely unaware of a lone figure standing on a high balcony watching them pass bye going in the direction of ponyille following shortly after. Celestia and Nightmare made it to the everfree without incident and met with the elements of harmony before venturing into the forest. Where their shadow followed and promptly became lost and all but giving up hope until a familiar voice just barely a whisper floated on the breeze. Its hope returned quickly and it fallowed the voice back to its source it growing louder as she neared. Where many other familiar voices joined the first in what seemed to be an argument. As the shadow grew nearer to the sounds it found itself outside the ruins of the old castle where celestia and her group could be seen facing what used to be the throne room. "Be gone temptress and take your shades with you" Growled a familiar voice causing the shadow to let out a startled gasp. Hopeful the shadow stepped forward to reveal itself as Luna but she stayed back enough to not be seen but close enough to hear what was being said. "Storm Bringer please stop this nonsense and come with us to canterlot Luna is worried sick about you she wont even leave her chambers." Celestia pleaded with murmurs of agreement and encouragement from all the rest present. And all was silent as they awaited Storms answer not another sound was heard not even the sounds of the forest around them. Then the silence was broken by the sound of scales scraping across stone and storm finely removed himself from his hiding place. All gathered there gasped in shock where their was once pristine colorful scales. Now all was dull, chipped, or broken. The eyes that once held so much life and enthusiasm were clouded and dull gazing ahead not seeming to truly see anything. His face was stained with tears his once proud, strong shoulders slouched and arms hung limp at his side as if they were nothing more than dead weight. "How many times must we have this conversation witch your shades don't fool me. I watched each and everyone of these ponies die at either yours or Chrysalis's hooves." Storm said his voice devoid of all emotion as he motioned to all before him and let out a long sad sigh his gaze coming to rest on Nightmare moon. "What are you talking about dragon this is the first time we have ever spoke?" Nightmare Moon said shivering under Storms dead gaze and looking to the others for aid. Here Twilight stepped forward and made to speak but was cut off by sad, lifeless laughter from storm as he turned his back on his company and disappeared back behind the platform that once held thrones. Celestia let out a sad sigh her head drooping as she turned and went to leave until the sounds of hoof steps made her stop and look up. During this little exchange Luna had moved forward and was now directly behind the little group. But she paid them little heed as she brushed past them all and went around behind the platform to find storm curled into a tight ball with his back to her. And the longer she looked the more she felt tears in her eyes for here before her was the one being she loved. And he had fallen so far and seemed beyond reason her tears began to fall silently but soon she couldn't hold back the sobs as she crumpled to the floor. A frustrated growl came from Storm as he uncurled himself and turned to face who ever was crying. He was ready to deliver a few choice words but anything he wanted to say soon died in his mouth when his eyes came to rest on Luna. Slowly Storm crawled towards Luna until she was just within his reach he slowly reached out a shakeing hand saying. "Luna is it truly you?" Luna nodded yes and began to lean forward to nuzzle Storms hand when. Approaching hoof steps made them both freeze and Storms eyes began to cloud over in rage and his whole body began to shake and quiver. Storms lips pulled back into a feral snarl revealing his many predatory teeth with a strange light flickering behind them. "Does your depravity know no bounds witch." Storm growled rising to his feet completely ignoring Luna's pleas that she was real. Nightmare didn't even get a chance to reply as storm surged forward with a feral roar that shook the very ground they stood on and bawled Nightmare over on the ground. Standing over her Storm snarled at her again revealing his teeth with that strange flickering light behind them. Nightmare didn't get to ponder it for long as storm opened his jaws lightning surged forward and struck Nightmare Moon square in the chest. Forcing her deeper into the floor to the point that it started to crack and sink. Then he surged forward again and began to attack her viciously not giving her a chance to recover. All this took place in the span of about half of a minute and Nightmare finally forced Storm back with magic. She stood shaking with multiple cuts and wounds all across her body with her left wing hanging limp on the floor almost all the feathers ripped free. And a long gouge running the length of her wing and side she was in a all around horrible shape. Storm on the other hand seemed completely unfazed by her magic's brushing them off as soon as they struck him. Slowly Storm began to approach Nightmare but stopped when Luna stepped in front of her staring at Storm pleadingly. Luna opened her mouth to speak, to do something to stop this madness but she was cut off by sinister laughter that rolled out of Storm in waves. "Do you honestly think a shade will stop me witch I know Luna is dead I watched you kill her." Storm said before letting loose another bolt of lightning aiming straight at Luna Thinking it will go straight through her and hit Nightmare Moon. Time seemed to slow for Luna and Nightmare Moon as the bolt of electricity flew at them and for the first time in a long time Luna was scared and she froze. She realized all to late that the bolt was coming at her and she couldn't avoid it. So she looked past the oncoming bolt at storm and mouth "I love you" and closed her eyes. Their was a Flash of light and the bolt never reached Luna surprised she opened her eyes and standing their before her was Nightmare Moon. At the last second Nightmare teleported in front Luna to take the blow. She expected it to strike her chest but it shot up and struck her horn and the spread across her body before Storm charged again slashing savagely and deeply across Nightmares chest and nicking her heart and letting her fall to the floor. Storm stood over Nightmare watching her bleed out before he began to crouch next to her before he was bawled over himself by a unseen blow from his side. Enraged storm jumped to his feet and faced his attacker and stopped dead confused for their standing over and protecting Nightmare Moon was Luna. Storm was confused to say the least the Luna shade was supposed to be gone Nightmare Moon was on the floor dying their was no way she could still have the concentration to conjure theses shades. "How are you still here" Storm said " your not real I watched Nightmare kill you" Luna stepped over Nightmare and came to stand in front of Storm. Then suddenly She reared back on her hind legs and cracked Storm across the head with both of her for hooves. And when she did three things crossed storms mind one. Luna and the rest were really here and weren't dead. Two If Luna was alive then Nightmare didn't kill her and Three if she didn't kill Her then he had just killed Nightmare in cold blood. All this truly sank in when Celestia and Twilight rushed past Storm horns aglow towards Nightmare and tried again and again to heal her with magic but to no avail. She weakly waved them away and looked at storm not in anger but with a sad smile. "Don't fret young one I don't blame you Chrysalis magic was strong and as long as you know the truth I will die happy." Nightmare said before letting her head return to the floor with a sigh and everyone their began to cry if they hadn't been already all save Storm. Storm wasn't crying because his mind was working is double overdrive without breaks trying to figure out a way to fix this. Magic was obviously out of the question and traditional medicine was to slow Storm was just about to give up hope when a thought crossed his mind. What the hell its a long shot but its better than nuthin he thought to himself before stepping past the little circle the ponies had made around Nightmare Moon. Storm knelt down and gently lifted Nightmares head until he could see into her eyes She was alive but just barely. Storm leaned in further to whisper in her ear when noise from behind him stopped him. Everypony had stopped crying and was watching him carefully with concern and he couldn't blame them. Storm Whispered in Nightmares ear. "Do you swear to uphold the laws of this land, to defend the weak, and protect this land and its people from all evil?" Nightmare chuckled slightly and coughed up blood but nodded yes with a smile. "Then I bestow upon you the gift of a dragons heart." Storm said getting a confused look from Nightmare and some startled gasps from behind him. "With this gift you will live as long as I do, you wont die unless I do first, and we shall share each others physical pain Knowing this do you accept my gift?" Storm said grabbing the scales at the base of his chest and pulling them back to reveal leathery skin beneath with the steady beat of his heart. Nightmare again nodded her head weakly before she fell back to the floor no longer having the strength to hold her head up. With one hand Storm gently grabbed her head and place it on his knee. With the other he drew a claw across the skin beneath his scales slicing it and letting out a light that danced like fire. Then he gently reached part of his hand into his chest and pulled it back with a small bundle of light in his fist pulsing to the beat of his heart. This he brought to Nightmares chest and it disappeared into the cut which slowly began to heal along with every other wound on her body. As this process completed itself Storm replaced his scales where they go and stood and faced his friends who were all looking at him dumbfounded. "First we get her to a hospital then I will answer all you questions." Storm said motioning to Nightmare and everyone nodded and Luna and Celestias horns lit up and in a flash they found themselves in the canterlot hospital. Where Nightmare Moon was quickly taken into a room by doctors to be treated. As she disappeared through those doors everyone turned to where Storm was standing only to find him gone and a near by exit swinging shut. Luna looked to Celestia who nodded her head saying. "Go to him Luna we will remain here and watch over Nightmare and wait for you two to return together." And with that Luna turned and trotted off after Storm thinking to herself.Come hell or high water I am going to figure out what happened and we are going to fix it. Up to this point their was no sign of him anywhere and Luna was about to return to the hospital. Until something flashed and caught her eye there to her left was a small community park with a shallow stream running through it. And Storm was crawling out of the stream to lie beneath a nearby tree and stare at the night sky. Luna slowly trotted across the park and stood by Storms side, he didn't say a word he just continued to stare at the stars. With a sigh Luna laid down next to him and let her head rest on his chest and watched him as the night went on. All to quickly the night neared its end and Luna stood and faced her moon with a smile. She closed her eyes and took a calming breath and her horn light up a calming blue and her eyes were white as a newly fallen snow. Slowly her moon glided towards the horizon and as it began to slip away Celestia's sun began to rise into the sky. With her task complete Luna let her magic fade away and turned to see storm staring at her before he shook his head with a heavy sigh and looked away. Confused Luna laid back down across storm watching him carefully until he finally spoke. "Why?" was all he said as he continued to stare off into space not even bothering to look at Luna. Not another sound was heard as Luna tried to ponder exactly what Storm meant by that. "Why what my dear?" she said finally claiming Storms full attention as he turned to look at her his face a mask completely devoid of emotion. "Why did you bring me here" Storm said his voice as empty as his face. "Why did you give me a second chance and why do you love a monster like me?" Though as he said the last word a single tear could be seen rolling down his cheek. This caught Luna completely by surprise first off Storm actually cried and he thought he was a monster. When ever since she met him Luna never saw him act violently when it wasn't absolutely needed. "I brought you here because you are truly sorry for you horrid actions" Luna said earning a frown from Storm. "The fact you are seeking recompense shows you are not a monster and as to why I love you." Here Luna's voice faltered slightly and her face began to burn with a blush. "I love you because of who you truly are a kind considerate soul who would do anything for his friends and the ones he loves. And I love you because you and I are a lot alike and I know how you feel." Luna said with a nervous smile earning a tired sigh from Storm as he shook his head and said. "Luna you have no idea how I feel and how what I've done tares away at me." Another tear sliding down his face to quickly be swept away by Luna. "Yes I do Storm Nightmare.." "NO YOU DONT LUNA" Storm screamed looking Luna in the eye tears flowing freely down his face. "You have no idea Luna the worst you and Nightmare did was threaten ponies and attack your sister. I have watched as the life left a small child in my arms when I was the one that killed her. Ive stood by and watched entire family's be slaughtered like animals." Storm began to sob uncontrollably and rolled over with his back to Luna who sat and watched him too stunned to speak before scooting closer and humming a soft tune. Before she began to sing with a voice so soft and sweet like a choir of angels. Come stop your crying it will be all right just take my hoof and hold it tight I will protect you from all around you ill be here don't you cry for one so small you seem so strong my arms will hold you keep you safe and warm this bond between us cant be broken I will be here don't you cry cause you'll be in my heart yes you'll be in my heart from this day on now and forever more Luna's voice flowed sweetly as she sang and Storms sobs and shakes began to quite and disappear. Slowly he turned to face her as she sang his eyes still wet with tears. When She quite singing both Luna and Storm stared into each others eyes for what felt like a eternity Until Storm finally broke the silence saying. "How can you love me after all I have done." Luna smiled gently as she leaned forward and nuzzled Storms cheek affectionately saying. "A wise dragon once told me 'What you did yesterday doesn't matter I judge based on what you do today and what we try to accomplish tomorrow.' And I believe he was right and so I am now passing the lessen on to you." Hearing this Storm chuckled lightly before standing and stretching before he looked at Luna with a new found light in his eye. "The question remains of how will I ever be able to face Everypony again after all ive put them through?" Storm said waiting for Luna to get up and join him. Luna chose her words carefully and thought her response through before she spoke. "I am sure feelings will be hurt but given time all will be as it should be so don't worry so much." Luna said standing next to Storm and leaning against him gently and watching his expression as they stood their. "Come on lets get back to the hospital" he said " I need to check to see if Nightmare Moon is going to be ok and apologies to Everypony." "Yes you do" Luna said with a yawn "then when you are finished we can retire to canterlot for some well deserved rest." As they spoke the two left the park together heading towards the hospital walking close beside one another with the first genuine smiles on their faces in a long time. The rest of that day was spent discussing what storm had done during the month he was away. And what Chrysalis had shown him to make him believe them all dead but throughout the conversation's Storm caught glimpses of Nightmare Moon watching him out of corner of his eye with a strange look. Similar to the way Luna looked at him which confused him greatly . As the day moved on into late afternoon everyone began to slowly drift away to do their own things until. Only Storm remained in the room with Luna sleeping peacefully on his lap. "Thank you" Nightmare said just barely loud enough for Storm to hear her. Storm looked at her puzzled to see a lone tear slide down her face. "Wow wow wow why are you crying." Storm said "Their is nothing to be sad about" "These arnt tears of sorrow young one but thank you for the concern." Nightmare said with a week smile . "Then what are they Nightmare?" Storm said gently laying Luna to the side and going to stand by the bedside. Nightmare gazed up at Storm thinking he hardly knows me except for the stories of my past. And yet he is willing to comfort me and be here for me when I have done nothing to earn his friendship. "I can see why Luna loves you Storm" Nightmare said with a smile catching Storm completely off guard and unsure how to respond. But as if on que Luna began to stir and awoke and looked at the two with sleep filled eyes and a tired smile. "Don't worry about me" Nightmare said motioning to Luna. "Take care of your love I will be just fine." Still confused all Storm could do was nod and walkover to Luna. Who smiled warmly at him as her horn lit up and then they were in her room. Luna hugged Storm tight and then crawled into bed where she quickly fell asleep Storm fallowed shortly but his mind was abuzz with many questions. Does Nightmare have feelings for me?... And if she does how will I deal with this?.. Oh hell ill worry about it tomorrow. That was over a week ago and to anyone on the outside everything seemed to be back to normal but all was not as it seemed. Shortly after Nightmares release from the hospital Storm began to subtly distance himself from the night time affair's of the castle. Disappearing to the barracks to train the Lunar guard and when that was done. He would either fly around the countryside or retreat to the quarters he shares with Luna. Whenever he was questioned on it Storm was always evasive and quickly removed himself from the conversation. It was during one of his midnight outings that Nightmare sought out Luna her mind heavy with concern. Nightmare didn't have to look for long night court had just ended and she stumbled upon Luna as she exited the throne room. "Ah Luna do you have a moment I would like to speak with you?" Nightmare said shifting from side to side nervously. "Why of course dear sister what ever is it that bothers you?" Luna said watching Nightmare shift and look around as if she expected someone to jump out and get her at any moment. Nightmare didn't respond she just hung her head slightly with a sigh and a shake of her head. Taking the initiative Luna quickly led Nightmare back to her room and making her guest and herself comfortable. "Now tell me dear sister what is it that bothers you so?" Luna said watching Nightmare carefully as she tried to marshal her thoughts. "I believe I know what troubles young storms mind. I think it was something I did the day Everypony came to visit me in the hospital." Luna nodded to show she was listening and waited for Nightmare to continue. "I think I may have said something to young Storm that led him to believe something that at the time I wasn't sure of." Nightmare said looking sheepishly at Luna fearing what would be said next. And to no surprise to her Luna said. "What was It that you said dear sister and how would this effect storm?" Nightmare sighed and braced herself for she doubted her next words would be well received. With a heavy sigh Nightmare sat herself down letting her head hang dejectedly as she said. "I told him I understand why you love him so after he came to the hospital. I can understand because despite all that I’m sure he has heard of me and. What Chrysalis put him through he still saved me and then was their to comfort me. I don't know much about him and I won’t pretend to but the more I've thought about it the more I understand his reaction." As she spoke Nightmare watched Luna to try and gauge her reaction but she just sat there with a blank face. Prompting Nightmare to continue her explanation. "I believe he may think I was implying that I feel for him when I said that." Nightmare said noticing a unreadable expression pass over Luna's face before she cleared her throat and said. "Well then the only question remains to be do you love him Nightmare Moon?" And their it was the question that had been running through Nightmares mind all week. The one question she never seemed to be able to answer. Sure Nightmare felt strongly for young Storm but. She wasn't sure if it was love and then she remembered how he made her feel in the hospital. He made her feel normal, warm, even welcome and tried to comfort her. Then their was the way Storm looked at her, he didn't look at her with disgust or fear but with pure simple concern for the wellbeing of another wondering soul. And with these revelations a broad smile formed on Nightmares face and she knew without a doubt that. "I do love him Luna Probably more than I should." Nightmare said looking to Luna who had a broad smile of her own. Though it quickly turned to a scowl of concern that both scared and worried Nightmare Moon. "Luna I’m sorry I didn't expect this to happen please don't ask me to keep this to myself. I won’t be able to and I fear what that could to us sisters please Luna." Nightmare said her voice quivering and tears streaming down her face as she watched Luna. Who seemed to stare off into space with that Scowl on her face before something on her hoof brought her back to earth. " No no no Nightmare I’m not upset by you revelation granted it will make things interesting" Luna said with a reassuring smile. "But the problem is I watched Storms world before I brought him here and polygamy is frowned upon their. So I fear how this will effect him or how he will react to this." Luna shook her head and sighed before she was bawled over by a flying hug from Nightmare. "Oh thank you Luna thank you" Nightmare said hugging her before realizing she was chocking Luna and jumped back with flurry of apologies. "Don't fret over it Nightmare but we have to figure out a way to ease Storm into this" Luna said with a thoughtful expression. One that was soon copied by Nightmare and they sat their brainstorming for what seemed like hours until. Almost simultaneously wide devious grins crossed their faces. And in a flurry of motion the two alicorn's flew around the room making preparation's for the return of their love and set their plans into motion. Around that time Storm was returning from one of his nightly "patrols" after receiving a strange note via magic from Luna. All it said was for him to meet her in their chambers. Confused Storm shook his head and strolled down the familiar corridors and came to stop outside their door. With a nod to the guards outside the door Storm stepped in to find the room steeped in shadow were ever the moon didn't light. Which wasn't anything new no the way Luna was laying on the bed was completely new. Luna was laid out across the bed half her body lit with moonlight the other hidden in the shadows. She had her bedroom eyes on looking over her shoulder at him giving Storm a wondrous view of her form outlined by her flowing main and tail. "Good evening dear how has your evening been?" Luna said as Storm started to remove his armor. "You already know the answer to that question dear Luna. My evenings and nights are always amazing because you make them to match you timeless beauty." Storm said earning a cute chuckle from Luna who motioned for Storm to come closer with a hoof saying. "That's very sweet of you Storm" she said leaning up and giving Storm a peck on the cheek to entice him and. Motioned for him to lay down next to her which just happened to be the part of the bed shrouded in shadow. Not missing a beat Storm crawled into bed next to his love pulling her close and nuzzling her neck affectionately. "So how has your night been Luna?" Storm said when he got comfortable earning another chuckle from Luna. "It was the same as any other" Luna said before scratching her chin as if in deep thought. "Except.. Nightmare and I had a interesting conversation about you at night courts end. "Is that so, I hope it was nothing bad" Storm said already the comfort of the bed and having Luna near lulling him to the verge of sleep. That is until the bed behind him shifted ever so slightly and a voice spoke up from behind him with a slight mischievous tone. "Indeed we did Storm though rest assured their was nothing bad in it" Nightmare said startling Storm causing him to flip around and nearly dumping Luna on the floor. To find Nightmare laying behind him just like Luna was a mischievous smile adorning her face but a soft warmth in her eyes. "Wh.. wha.. what Nig.. Nightmare when did you get here?' "I’ve been here the whole time young one. But enough questions Luna what say you we get down to business." Nightmare said glancing at Luna who nodded yes and the two descended on a very confused Storm. Needles to say the guards outside the door were very red in the face come morning. And Storm now had two mare friends but as he thought of it just before letting sleep claim him. How could I love one and not the other and be loved by one and not expect the same from the other. They are two sides of the same coin after all, granted very different sides but.. that's why I love them. All the winter months Storm, Nightmare, and Luna would spend their free evening's lounging in their bedroom before a cheery fire. But as it was spring all three princesses were needed to oversee the preparations for the up coming Grand Galloping Gala. So Storm had much of his time to himself and it was with this free time he came up with a plan to make this gala one never to be forgotten. So when all three princesses were away three days before the gala Storm took a flight to ponyville their were many ponies he needed to talk to. First off Storm would need a suite so first stop carousel boutique. Then next would be the music which meant finding vinyl scratch and Octavia. Next would be a spell to ensure Storm was heard above the din of the gala so next was twilight. Then was the finisher, the cherry on top of it all and only equestria's greatest flyer could fit that bill. The first two days were devoted entirely to planning and practicing almost non stop through all hours of the day and night. Thankfully Storm foresaw this and left a note for Nightmare and Luna saying he was visiting ponyville and getting them a surprise. Without worry of their activity's being discovered by the two lucky mares the groups could practice in peace. The day of the gala Storm left another message for Nightmare and Luna simply saying. "Meet me in the gardens when the moon shines its brightest to see what I have in store." This message confused the two but only fueled their desire to discover what storm had in store. Later that evening the gala had been in full swing for a few hours, the moon had reached its zenith. And their was still no sign of storm which confused and irked both princesses. At that very moment as if on queue the orchestra stopped playing and silence fell across the crowd as Octavia approached the mic at the front of the stage and said. "Ladies and gentle colts this next piece was requested for a very special reason. And upon hearing it myself and the entirety of the canterlot orchestra decided to play this piece, but we will need some help from some very special ponies." When she said this Octavia backed away from the mic to reveal a large figure standing in the shadows of the stage. Who quickly mounted the stairs and revealed itself to be Storm as he stood before the mic. He was dressed in a blue tux and dress pants with his undershirt being a slight shade lighter than his tux. Mimicking the colors of his scales with his best dashing smile on his face. Upon seeing him both Nightmares and Luna's breath hitched in their throat as Storms gaze came to rest on them his eyes sparkling like diamond's. "Ladies and gentle colts of the orchestra, Octavia and many many others I thank you for this opportunity." Storm said his gaze never leaving Luna or Nightmare. "I have asked these esteemed musicians to play a piece from my home as part of a surprise I have planned for two very special mares. One Princess Luna and one Princess Nightmare Moon are those mares and I would be delighted to have them grace me with their presence on stage." And again as if on que all the ponies in front of Luna and Nightmare moved aside creating a clear path to the stage. Too confused and surprised to do much else both began the walk to the stage to pass a teary eyed Rarity, a grinning Rainbow Dash, And Twilight with horn aglow. Then as the two came to stand before Storm the mic vanished in a puff of smoke and Storm glowed purple for a instant. Then he gave a nod almost completely indiscernible and the lights illuminating the gardens all faded until only the lights on stage were left. Next he got down one knee and began to dig in his pocket earning a delighted gasp from both the mares before him when he pulled out two boxes with their separate cutie marks on them and then said. "Luna, Nightmare would you do me the honors of making me the happiest creature in all of existence by marrying me?" Both Luna and Nightmare were stunned and couldn't speak their mouths moving unable to form words their gaze flickering between each other, the rings and Storm. Then both girls looked at the other and then smiled and turned to Storm but before they could give their Storm stopped them and said. "Now before you give me you answer girls I want to tell you why it is I want to marry you." with that Storm again gave a slight nod to some unseen pony and then the orchestra came to life playing music so soft and powerful it seemed to pull all the ponies towards the stage in anticipation of what would happen next. Then as it reached a peak Storm stood and took a few steps back drew in a deep breath and began to sing with the music. His voice strong and floating along with the notes coming from the orchestra. I could stay awake just to hear you breathing watch you smile while you are sleeping While you're far away and dreaming I could spend my life in this sweet surrender I could stay lost in this moment forever every moment I spend with you is a moment I treasure don't want to close my eyes I don't want to fall asleep cuss id miss you baby and I don't want to miss a thing As he sang Storms voiced easily carried across the gathered ponies thanks to twilight's spell. For the rest of his song Storm focused entirely on Luna and Nightmare just letting everything and Everypony else just fade away as if they were never there. Then just as the song was reaching its end Rainbow Dash shot from the crowd into the night sky to come back down and create a sonic-rainboom, but this wasn't just any rainboom Rainbow made this one in the shape of a heart in the night sky with Storm in its center on the stage. "So girls what ya say?" Storm said extending his hand out to them and waited patiently a warm smile on his face. "I don't know what to say Storm th...that was" "Ya say yes ya silly foul" a voice cried out from the crowd earning a good laugh from storm as he held out his hand and waited. Only to be almost knocked over by Luna as she ran up to him crying saying " yes yes yes" over and over. Getting Storm to return the hug with fervor only to look at Nightmare quizzically before she two tackled him succeeding in knocking him onto his back earning a thunderous round of laughter and applause. That quickly fell silent when a set of hoof beets could be hear on the stage accompanied by a familiar voice saying. "And just when were you planning on telling me about this little development Storm" as Celestia herself walked across the stage to look down on Storm with mock anger. Only burst into giggles and pull them all into a hug and say "So tell me when Is the wedding?" //-------------------------------------------------------// the big day //-------------------------------------------------------// the big day Two weeks... two immensely exhausting weeks have past since Storm proposed to Nightmare and Luna. During that time Rarity almost had a heart attack when the princesses asked her to make their dresses. Pinkie threw the wildest bachelor and bachelorette party's equestria has ever seen. And the rest of the girls conveniently overdrank and couldn't do anything until the wedding. And all the planning and stress all of it finally came to frustration when it all fell in place the night before the wedding. And then the big day finally came to find Storm standing at the end of the throne room in his suit Rarity made. Standing next to him was Celestia who would be performing the ceremony. To her left were Luna's and Nightmare's bridlemaids Cadence, Twilight, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbowdash, and Derpy. And standing on storms other side are all his groomsman Spike, Big Mac, prince Blueblood, and Shining Armor. Blueblood being the strangest of the group considering he practically forced his way into the ceremony. With no one entirely certain why and apprehensive due to his reputation and the way rarity tried to castrate him when she saw him. But all that aside Storm and Celestia were chatting quietly as everyone got into place then all was silent when the wedding march began to play and Nightmare and Luna made their way down the isle. Nightmare was wearing a black dress that flowed behind her changing from black to a dark blue the farther down the back you went. Her ethereal mane somehow kept to one side with a crescent moon earing on each ear. Luna was wearing something similar except her dress went from dark blue to a light blue that matched Storms scales. Their were many silent ohhs and awws as the two made their way further into the room their gaze locked with Storms as the three seemed to forget all were present as they admired the others appearance. Nightmare and Luna had made it about half way to were Storm stood when they were snapped out of their collective trance by a loud "I object". The entire room went quite as all gathered stared slack jawed at Blue Blood who stood between Storm and the girls holding his hoof up dramatically. A long pregnant pause passed as all stared at Blue Blood as if he lost his mind though the silence was quickly broken by a good natured chuckle from Storm. "Well were I come from we usually wait to object until the one overseeing the ceremony says 'speak now or forever hold you're peace'. Or something like that but ok Blue Blood why don't you enlighten us on why you think we three should not be wed?" Storm said a smile on his face though his eyes were burning with fires hotter than the deepest pits of hell. No one could question Blue Blood had balls as he turned to Storm not even flinching at the look in his eye and said. "To put it simply you are a beast, a monster and you don't deserve to marry my auntie Luna" Blue Blood watched Storm expecting some form of lashing out or rage but was surprised when he chuckled and said. "Beast, monster those are harmful words coming from one of my groomsmen Blue". Storm said holding a hand over his chest as if he was wounded smiling down at Blue Blood" And I don't contest the fact Luna and Nightmare deserve better than me but I asked and they both said yes so my bestial nature isn't a good enough reason to stop." This caused Blue Blood to double take slightly he just insulted this creature and yet he went so far as to agree with him. But no matter Blue was determined to stop his precious auntie from making this mistake as he said turning to face Luna. "Its strange you agree with me dragon but I didn't say anything about that witch Nightmare Moon. No you two are perfect for one another. Both of you being monsters you should be wed and then thrown out of the kingdom." The temperature seemed to drop drastically as Blue Blood spoke. The looks on many ponies faces went from shock to scorn to plain out horror the longer he spoke. "So please auntie Luna stop this nonsense we can find you a good stallion and you can live happily together what do you say?" Blue Blood finished by holding out his hoof to Luna a confidant smile on his face. Until a nearby candle stick was sent careening into his face lit up with Luna's magical aura a look of pure hatred and revulsion on her face. Blue Blood was about to make a snide remark when he was cut short by a sizeable foot planting itself in his flank sending him flying to land a few feet behind Nightmare and Luna. "Everypony you attention please" Storm said as he began to walk down the isle towards Blue Blood. "I respect that you all have you opinions of me and of Nightmare. But I will not tolerate anypony slandering her name based on her past." As the last part was said Storm reached the fallen prince and grabbed him by the back of the neck holding him at arm’s length facing him. "Now you all should know that I have seen, done and are capable of things that make Nightmares threat of eternal night look like a five year old's temper tantrum." Their was a collective gasp of horror as Storm said this but he ignored it focusing on the quivering form of Blue Blood in his grip. "Thanks to a great deal of help from Luna I am past those ways but." Storm said pausing dramatically and letting all his rage and hatred for Blue Blood to fill his voice and eyes as he spoke again. "Should anypony continue to insult either one of Nightmare or Luna for their decision here tonight. Their won’t be enough magic or distance in all of equestria to stop me from hunting you down and having a lovely medium rare pony stake do I make myself clear?" The entire room was dead silent even Nightmare, Luna and Celestia shocked by Storms proclamation. The silence was finally broken when Blue Blood quite whimpering enough to say. "y..yo..you wouldn't dare do you know who I am" When he heard this Storm threw back his head thunderous laughter filling the room. Until he looked back at Blue Blood with a grin that sent shivers down the princes back. "I know exactly who you are Prince Blue Blood nephew to my soon to be wife and sister-in-law Luna and Celestia." Storm said leaning in close to whisper in Blue Bloods ear " But even those two plus Nightmare will not save you if you continue to insult my wife. Now be gone you are no longer welcome in my wedding." As if to emphasize his point Storm reared back and booted Blue Blood out a nearby staff entrance. With a contented sigh Storm turned back to Celestia and patiently waited for everyone else to get over his little upset. Slowly the precession continued all the way the point where Celestia said. "I now pronounce you mares and dragon Storm you may now kiss the brides." Storm turned to face Nightmare and Luna either one facing him at a angle and all three leaned in for a kiss. When the three lips met their was thunderous applause though it quickly stopped when Storm was enveloped in a white light. Only the outline of his body was visible. All gathered their let out shrieks and screams of shock as the light grew brighter and brighter. "What!!!!!!!!!!!" six fillies screamed in unison staring at the alicorn stallion lying before them. The stallion chuckled softy as he watched the six girls. It was easy to see all six fillies were related to the original element bearers. "What kind of ending is that uncle tempest where is the romance, what happened to Storm?" One of the girls said getting murmurs of agreement from the rest. She is defiantly rarity's granddaughter Tempest thought with a chuckle as he smiled warmly at the girls. " I don't know what to say girls that's the way the story ends" Tempest said smiling warmly at the girls as they all stared at him like he had two heads. "Well that doesn't make sense" one of the other girls said. " why would you tell a story about somepony else marrying auntie Moon and Luna..... unless the story is about you!" Leave It to twi's granddaughter to come to that conclusion Tempest thought to himself laughing whole heartedly earning a hard glare from the girl. "Now what gave you that idea Eve it is just a story?" Tempest said eyeing Eve amused as she glared at him angrily. "It is entirely possible for a non alicorn to become an alicorn through marriage to an existing alicorn." Eve said a smug look on her face. "But is their a recorded marriage between a dragon and a alicorn?" Tempest said earning a scowl from Eve as she admitted there wasn't before her face lit up with a huge smile. "Well maybe their was but it was destroyed in that fire granny twilight accidently started in the royal archives while practicing a spell." "That could be true but we will never know" Tempest said chuckling as Eves face dropped but it perked up when the sound of a hoof steps on the floor behind them a soft voice say. "What are you little ponies doing up at this hour?" Luna said walking into the room Nightmare Moon in tow. "Uncle Tempest was telling us a story about you and Auntie Moon marrying a dragon" One of the other girls said. Bouncing energetically in place her poufy neon Blue main bouncing insanely her pink eyes aglow. "Did he now?" Moon said " and what was this story about?" "It was about a dragon named Storm and he married you and auntie Luna but that was all he would tell. And we were all like nu-uh their has to be more but he said that was it so he and eve started talking about it. And the rest of us just sat here and watched until you showed up." The bouncing ball of energy said beaming at the Princesses. "I see" Luna said smiling at the filly before looking reproachfully at Tempest. "So I say again why are the girls up at this hour?" "What?" Tempest asked defensively "how could I resist those six cute little smiles?" As if to prove the point all six girls looked at the princesses and did their best puppy dog eyes. Causing Luna to just about have a heart attack from cuteness overload. "I can" Nightmare deadpanned staring at the girls with a blank expression. "That's because you never had kids" Tempest said off hand being in the same boat as Luna. "Well then you should fix that" Nightmare said wiggling her eyes suggestively "uhh-huh.... wait what?" Tempest said with a start causing Everypony to bust out laughing save Nightmare who was dead serious. There was a long silence after Everypony quieted down Everypony looking back and forth between each other uncomfortably. "Anyway... I think it’s time you fillies went to bed." Luna said earning a chorus of whining of disapproval from the girls as they filed out the door. "And you should get ready for you duties Tempest you’re going to be late to train the new recruits." Nightmare said as she fallowed Luna and the girls out the door. With a warm chuckle Tempest Stood and walked over to a nearby wardrobe and opening it to reveal a familiar dark blue armor and began to put it on. Right about this time Luna and the girls reached the guest room were the fillies would be staying, only for little Eve to realize she forgot something in the other room. She quickly backtracked and let herself in only to stop mouth agape at the sight before her. Tempest was standing outlined against the moon as it was visible through the open windows. His light blue mane flowing in a nonexistent breeze with random streaks of white flying through it almost like lightning. His ocean blue fur visible in places beneath his armor. Eves revere was broken by a pencil and note pad floating in her face wrapped in a aura that matched tempests mane. "Forgot something did you Eve?" Tempest said smiling warmly at her. "Thank you uncle Tempest." Eve said smiling sheepishly at Tempest as she took her things in her magical grasp. "So what did you think of my story Eve?" Tempest said catching Eve by surprise as she looked at him confused and he turned to fully face her. "What do you mean did I like you're story?" Eve said eying Tempest confused as the gears in her head turned. Then realization dawned on her. "What does that mean...." Eve said eyeing Tempest as the smile on his face grew larger and larger. "So you really are Storm?" Tempest Chuckled warmly "All in good time little one I’ll tell you about it one day when you are older until then I think it’s time you went to bed." Tempest said as he ushered Eve back out the door and back to her room and let out a long sigh. "That is going to be one interesting conversation." Tempest said with a chuckle and turned back to the window and Jumped out the window to see to his duties and what ever else the night brings.
