Chapter 1
At the age of 27 i got arrested for treason and put in the deepest cell of the Canterlot dungeons.
Destined to rot in till i die, and to be tortured on a daily basis.
But i didn't care about the amount of pain i suffered. It felt to me like something i deserved.
The real torture remained in my mind. The memories of the moments i spent with someone close to me. I remember them clearly, all the nice sunny days, and the cold rainy nights we spent together. And how it all passed away within seconds. What seemed to be the best thing that was to happen in my life. Turned out to haunt my dreams forever. A decision i really regret. And then the thought of her forgetting everything about me. At one point judging by the situation we were in, i couldn't have wished for anything better. At least she wont have to remember all the suffering she's been threw, thats a good thing right?
Darklight woke up from his sleep, only to be greeted by darkness and silence. He was lying on the floor of an empty room. The floor was dirty and the walls were covered with cobwebs. The only source of light was a small trapdoor on the ceiling.
Nobody has entered his cell in a while. Or showed up for that matter.But yet he was alive,
used to the feeling of hunger, and without the need of satisfying it. To him it felt like he was in here for eternity. In fact he expected to never see anyone again.
Suddenly the trapdoor opened and Darklight was blinded by the sudden wave of light. After a while his eyes adjusted and he could see two guards above him giving him a stare of surprise.
''You there! Ya' Alive? '' one of the guards said while the other went for something.
Darklight was too tiered to say a word, nodding instead. The other pony came back with a ladder and slowly lowered it until it hit the floor. ''Can you get up by yourself, or do ya' need help? '' the soldier asked.
The tiered stalion slowly got up and walked toward the ladder, he didn't know why but the guards seemed  to be nice to him. With the power he had left in him he somehow climbed up.
As his head reached out of the trapdoor he took a good look around with his tiered eyes. The room was empty and looked like it hasen't been used for centuries. Spider webs were all over and the stone walls were covered with moss. Seemed like nothing really different from his cell.
When he finally climbed out the feeling of tiredness hit his legs. The pony hardly stood. The guards thankfully noticed the prisoners problems and decided to embraced him to make it easier for him to walk. Darklight quickly got a look at his reflection in the shiny armor of one of the guards. He was shocked as he noticed he hadn't changed much since the last time he saw himself long ago. In fact he was almost exactly the same, exempt for the part that he was really skinny and pale.
The escort stopped and Darklight found himself infront of a door, one of the guards went up the door and opened it.
''Welcome outside prisoner, '' one of them said.
As the door opened the tiered pony was once again struck by a blinding wave of light. But this time his eyes took less time to get used to it. Suddenly as he got out of shock he could hear the sound of birds singing and the breeze of the wind upon his skin. Infront of his eyes he could see a green park filled with trees and flowers. He felt himself slowly slipping away with a weird spiny feeling in his head and his eyes suddenly closed shut.
Darklight woke up and found himself in a comfy bed. I must have fell, and i think i hit a rock.He judged by the fact that he was in pain, he quickly inspected the room he was in, it was  nicely decorated and it looked to be one of the apartments in the Canterlot castle, but it surely changed a lot since he last saw it. Next to him on a night desk lay a trey with medicine, a glass of water, and some sandwiches.
He quickly ate the food but left the medicine out. Darklight didn't recognize the pills, so he decided not to take them yet.
The pony slowly got out of bed, hardly standing on his hooves he walked up to the window next to the bed.
The view surprised him, in front of him he saw Canterlot but the new houses and streets were unfamiliar to him.
The door behind him opened and a yellow pegasus nurse with a medical cross cutie mark came in with a escort of one guard. ''Good day sir, how was your sleep? '' she asked and walked up to the trey. '' Havent taken your medicine yet, dont worry its not any kind of poison, nobody means any harm to you. ''
Darklight went back into the bed and swallowed the pills and drank them down with the rest of the water. He sort of trusted the visitor. But still remained silent. ''Alright now i need to check you up, open your mouth wide. '' She said and put a thermometer in his mouth.
After a while of waiting she took it out and checked his temperature.'' Alright you seem to be normal, you will need lessons to get your leg strength back, and most important of all you will need to gain some weight. Also you have to rest in bed for the next 4 days.
She gave him a smile and left the room, shutting the door for her. Darklight's head dropped to the pillow.
He had a lot of questions that he couldn't seem to find any good answers to.
Following the nurses orders he mostly stayed in bed for the next 4 days. In the morning he was given breakfast and then had more health checkups. In the noon after dinner he had a guard come and take him for short walks around the castle. Then by the end of the day Darklight had supper and he went back to sleep.
After the 4 days he felt fully recovered. He gained some weight and got used to walking again.
On the 5th day Darklight woke up, had breakfast, and then instead of the nurse check up he had a group of guards
come for him. He got up with his own strength without a problem and walked with the guard escort. After a short walk the soldiers stopped infront of the entrance to some sort of room. They told him to enter and so with slight hesitation he did.
Darklight found himself in a library, all around him were stuffed bookshelves, but what he focused on was what was infront of him.
By a study table oposite to the stalion sat  Princess Celestia Celestia, she gave him a calm but sad look and finally spoke. ''I cant believe after all these years you are still alive, do you even know how long you have been in that prison? '' Darklight remained silent.
''When i sent those guards, the plan was to take your dead body and burry it. It has been 1002 years since you were put in that hole, i dont know how you are still alive, and you havent changed at all. ''
Darklight finally spoke in a very serious voice. ''Whats with the sudden change of heart? And to answer your question.
I had a certain promise to keep to an old friend. ''
Celestia was surprised to hear his voice after all these years, she remained quiet for some time, she was decided on how to put things together, it was easy to tell that she was shy.
''You might not understand this or not believe me. Ever since i banished Luna to the moon i felt bad, lonely, miserable.
Not having my sister around made me realize how important she was to me. ''
Darklight was surprised by the sudden confessions but still nothing made senes to him, why was he summoned? Why is she telling him these things. And most of all why is she so nice to him? ''So it has been 1002 years since i was tossed in that cell. Does that mean Luna is back from the moon? '' He said with a certain joy and excitement in his heart.
Celestia quickly answered. ''Yes, yes she is. ''
Darklights mind was filled with questions. ''So whats your problem and why did you call me here? Why would you confess these things to me, why do i seem so important right now. And why would you be keeping me alive? ''
The Princess took a deep breath. She was ready for these questions, but the fact of having a certain pony infront of her kept dealing shock to her. '' Even since Luna was back i was really happy, but she seemed to be missing something, or someone to be exact. I noticed she was unhappy and lonely, hardly saw her smile. I tried to befriend her with some ponies but nobody really seemed to fit her. Then i realized how important you were to her. And how big of a mistake when i parted you two and erased Luna's memory. You were soul mates, made for each other, and there was nobody she cared for more than you. I though you were dead and decided to set up a proper burial for you, i thought you deserve it. ''
The stalion didn't know what to make of everything. He was interested in what Celestia had to say but at once he could not stop thinking about Luna being back. He was almost crying. Each word the princess said made memories go threw his mind. '' Will i get to see Her, and did you call me just to tell me these things, it seems like you want something. ''
Celestia knew what to say but she was struck by shyness. After a while She ended up saying what she wanted to.
''I.. i... i want to make you Captain of the Lunar guard again. Even thou she wont remember the old days, i wont mind you... ...starting over... Please. It would mean so much to me if Luna had someone she could trust and talk to. I want to see my little sister smile and be happy again. ''
Darklight had a sudden smile of joy on his face. ''I cant say no to that offer, when do i start?. ''
Celestia smiled and told him to go back to his room and that he starts his job tomorrow. By the end after they discussed all the details Darklight stood up and made his way out. Just when he reached the door he turned back and added. ''And it seems like you really changed Celestia, and i forgive you for what you have done to me. You went threw the same pain i did, i can understand you. ''
Darklight left the room and started walking back toward his room, he waved the guard escort away and said that their not needed now. He walked along the corridors of the castle.
He could not wait till tomorrow. The Day when he gets to see Luna again. At once he was filled with both huge joy and sadness.
He wished she had remember him. But knew that was impossible.
