Spike's friends died long ago, as did Celestia and Luna. He no longer has his childhood guardians to protect him in this new world. Following the death of The Sun Monarch, the ponies adopted new methods of living their lives. They relied on machines to do most of their work. They built a massive city in memory of Celestia and Luna. Freedom City (Liberty City). The city was cut up in four sections. And it's police force was completely corrupted. The city was a prime example of what the ponies didn't want. The population was made up of all the races. But dragons were a rare creature there.

Spike left Equestria and went to the lands of the Griffons. There, he became a mercenary. He found out about communism. The ponies worked by a system called Capitalism. A system where you work for everything you have and own. Communism made everyone's share equal. No matter what you work at. He joined in the Griffona wars.

Due to one of his few friends constant bragging of his success in said city. He came to Freedom City for a new start and too get away from Bulgerin. An known drug dealer who's out on an mission to kill him. Also, too find and kill his father, Jelic, who killed Twilight. He leaves Griffona and smuggles himself in.
