It was a bright and shiny day in the city of Canterlot. The clouds were white and fluffy, the sky was blue and the energy was high. Today the citizens were excited over the Wonderbolts’ Summer Kick Off Spectacular. One of the most noticeable ponies that were looking forward to this event was the very fashionable and famous stallion, Fancy Pants.
Fancy Pants was a unicorn with a lush white coat, light blue eyes and clean, crisp, short swirly light blue mane. He also had a small light blue mustache. He is always seen in public with his usual attire, a tuxedo top with a purple bow tie. His cutie mark show three crowns with a purple jewel inside each crown.
But today he dressed differently, today he decided to not wear his tuxedo, or his monocle, he only wore some sunglasses and he used a simple spell that he got from Twilight Sparkle to change the color of his mane, which was now black. The color of his coat was now light grey. He wanted some privacy but knowing how insanely popular he is the media would not give him that luxury.
He walked along the market street, on way to the arena where the Wonderbolts would perform. "Ah...some privacy, I will have to thank Rarity's friend for this spell, she certainly knows her magic." He smiled as he went on his way, not a single pony bothered him, especially no crazy mares.
"I swear those mares get on my nerves when they act like parasprites around me." Fancy had a little secret that only his most trusted friend and companion Fleur de Lis.
What was the secret you may ask? The secret was that he was a coltcuddler. Fancy Pants lost his interest in mares after he found out that most of them just liked him for his social status and not him. He remembered a long time ago, the memories of before he was rich and famous.
Memories about him and a pegasus, he remembered that they were close friends. But something happened and his friend had to leave, over time he had forgotten his friend’s face and name. Most likely to hide his hurt.
"Now then, the arena should be a few more blocks ahead." he said to himself. He had always been a big fan of the Wonderbolts, he especially liked Soarin’. The pegasus reminded him of how he was when he was younger. Active, athletic, full of energy. "Ah yes..those were the days..." he said to himself.
He missed those days, the days when he was just a handsome unicorn with big dreams and plans and aspirations, of course, he loved his career as a fashion designer and critic but, he did want to be an athlete, now most ponies know that a good majority of the athletes are earth ponies and pegasi, unicorns...not so much.
"I would have made a very good athlete, I am in well good shape, but those days are long gone now I suppose... Ah, here we are." He stood a few feet away from the arena. It was a big oval shaped arena. There were many ponies on there way to the event. Banners, posters and flags all announced the event so nopony could miss it.
Fancy Pants walked towards the entrance, loving the fact that nopony recognized him! It was funny yet a bit odd, he had grown used to being flocked by the other snooty ponies in these sort of events but he told Fleur to send a message that he was not feeling well and would not be able to attend.
"My my so many ponies... I knew that this event would attract a big crowd but this... I haven't seen this many ponies in one place since the royal wedding,” he commented as he mixed into the crowd of ponies going through the various tunnel like entrances to the arena, he managed to get himself a front row seat and a backstage pass so he could talk to the Wonderbolts as a regular pony.
He walked down the tunnel along with the other ponies as he soon reached the end of it, a bright light getting in his eyes he had to shield them for a moment, but as soon as he could see again his heart made a little jump. The entire arena was in front of him, what made it different this time was that he was there alone and experiencing the event as a regular pony. The bright blue sky clear of any clouds, the arena's many seats were starting to get filled by ponies from all over the land.
"This is truly amazing... I should have thought of doing this years ago." He walked down the steps to his seat in the front row, as he took his place he had memories come back at him when he first saw the Wonderbolts as a little colt. The Wonderbolts are an old group, this being the 4th generation. He saw the 3rd generation of the Wonderbolts, when the head captain was a male pegasus named Mach Wing. He was and still is the fastest pegasus who ever took the uniform of the Wonderbolts.
"He was the best... And quite handsome..." he blushed a bit and shook his head a bit, he rarely spoke of his affection to stallions out loud and the only pony who he talks to about this topic was with Fleur. "Oh stop it you old fool, that was years ago, you are a mature adult and have to act as such."
A loud voice filled the arena through the speakers. "Attention all ponies, the show will begin in a few minutes. Please take your seats and thank you for coming on this wonderful day. We hope you will enjoy the show!"
All the ponies went into a frenzy of whoops and screams as they took their seats and waited for the show to begin and then after a few minutes a trumpet began to blow, the theme of the Wonderbolts being played. Fancy Pants as well as everypony in the arena went silent, as the one and only Wonderbolts Summer Spectacle was about to begin.
"Let the show begin," Fancy Pants said to himself as he waited with a grand smile on his face,
