//-------------------------------------------------------// A new Beginning -by Dark_Night- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter One //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter One Chapter one: An unexpected ‘turn’ of events Joshua was walking down the street towards his favorite restaurant; he could hear the engines of the cars as he walked by them. “Ah… The city life” He continued walking towards the restaurant carrying the groceries he had bought earlier; he opened the door and went inside. He walked up to the counter and ordered his favorite meal, which consisted of a big juicy hamburger with 2 patties of meat, cheese, onions, tomatoes and lettuce. The server brought him his food and he quickly devoured it. “Oh yes that tasted delicious” he pays for his food and walks back home where Levi was waiting watching his favorite cartoon “My little Pony”. Levi was sitting on the couch watching “My little Pony” season 2 episode 14 “The last Roundup” he was laughing like a moron at Derpy when she was being… well… Derpy. Joshua walked into the kitchen and put away some food that he had bought. He walked into the living room and sat on the sofa to watch My little Pony with his brother, Levi. “Don’t you think this show is a little girly?” “No” “Really? I mean come on… it’s got ponies, rainbows and butterflies… and stuff” “And I… don’t really care” Levi goes back to watching his show “Hey Levi, I’m going out again soon probably going to run a few errands, would you like to come with me?... after this episode ends?” It takes Levi a minute to register what was just said “Uh… sure but after this show” After the episode had finished, Levi and Joshua both get up and head to the car. Josh starts the car and starts driving to the old train tracks on the other side of town. “Hmm, instead of running errands, lets go drive around for a bit… how does that sound? “Sure” The two were quiet for a while but then Josh Broke the silence. “You sure do enjoy My little Pony Levi” Levi laughs “It’s my favorite show! I really like Applejack and Rainbow Dash, they seem to have similar personalities to me… what do you think Josh?” “Eh, I’m not too big into My little Pony, but I would have to agree, Applejack and Rainbow Dash sure do have similar personalities to us” After a few minutes josh slowly starts closing his eyes. “Ugh I didn’t get much sleep last night… perhaps we could pull over and I could take a nap” “Nonononono… there’s a diner about 10 miles from here if you want to stop in… saying that you don’t fall asleep before then” Levi smiled, starting to get worried about Josh falling asleep Joshua keeps his eye on the road, after a few seconds he begins closing his eyes, but he jolts back awake “What? What happened?... Oh right” A few seconds later he passes out completely and the vehicle veers sharply to the left, throwing Levi out of his seat. Levi screams loudly and he reaches for the wheel. Josh jolts back awake and is unable to control the car. “AHHH!!!!” The vehicle swerves off of a cliff and the two start screaming for their lives. “AHH!!!!” their car hits the ground and their entire front half of the car smashes together like aluminum foil, trapping levi and josh by their feet “Oh shit, it hurts!” Levi attempts to pull out his right leg “Don’t do anyth-“ the car explodes killing both of the men trapped within the car Levi and Josh are dead, killed by Josh’s choice to fall asleep behind the wheel Welcome to Purgatory Levi Hansen and Joshua Hansen, your deaths are unfortunate and catastrophic to those you love. “Who are you?” Levi shouts “and where are you?” I am Death, you cannot see me until you have passed into the afterlife. I am here to look and see if you both have lived good lives “Do we go to heaven if we’ve lived good lives?” Levi asked. Yes, but there is another option Levi and Josh both glance at each other nervously “What is this ‘other option’ that you mentioned?” Josh asked. You can both go to any realm that you desire Levi did a little happy dance and stared at Josh smiling But, I have not checked your files completely yet… Death flips through his notes. Joshua, you do have several marks on your file, but not enough to go to hell. So you may choose to go to heaven or any realm you desire. Death looks at Levi. Levi, your slate is perfectly clean, I am impressed… you may both choose the realm you wish to go to. “I would like to go to Equestria please, May I be sent as a pure-white Pegasus with green eyes?” Levi asked Consider it done. Death touches the top of Levi’s head and he instantly disappears. As for you, what rea- “Same realm as Levi, although I would like to be a Pegasus with a Black coat, blue mane and tail, my eye color will be Cyan” So be it. Farewell Joshua. Death touched his head and he disappeared. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Two //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Two Chapter Two: Arrival (Josh’s perspective) Josh dive bombs through the air, looking at the clouds and the other Pegasi roaming around several hundred miles away. Josh inspects himself and sees that he got exactly what he wanted, wings too. “Aww right, I got wings, now… how do I open them?” The ground is getting closer. “Come on! Open!” His wings shoot out and his decent turns into a glide, he stays like this not moving until his Hooves are safely on the ground. He sits and starts inspecting himself, making sure everything was correct. (levi’s perspective) Levi bursts through some clouds as he falls toward the ground below, he kicks the air with his hoof, terrified of hitting the ground too hard… he involuntarily spreads his wings and it turns into a glide. “Oh yeah! Horns are Soooo over-rated anyway” Levi takes his slow decent in learning how to use his wings. After a few minutes of practice he has gotten it down and he lands on the ground about 30 yards away from his brother, Josh. (Josh’s Pov…Point of view) I see Levi a few meters away from me, so I get up and walk over to him “Dang, this will take some getting used to” “Well we can’t just walk into town with our names, Joshua and Levi… everyone else… EveryPony* else will think our names are weird… so what should our names be?” I think for a minute. “How about you be ‘Cloud Shaker’ and I’ll be… hmm… how about Dark Night? Seems to be a good name for me” “Hmm, Cloud Shaker… I like it… call me Shakes!” Dark smiles “I’m glad you like it, Shakes” Dark looks around, and sees a dark forest with a town next to it. “Hey it looks like there’s a town over there, maybe we should go check it out” Shake immediately got excited, “That’s Ponyville!” and he dashed off in that direction. Dark spreads his wings and flies clumsily after his brother and they walk into the town together, taking in all of the sights. A Light-green pony with a harp-shaped cutie mark walks up to them, starts to speak but is interrupted by pinkie pie, appearing out of nowhere. “HI IHAVENTSEENYOUBEFORE WHATSYOURNAME? MYNAMEISPINKIEPIE YOUMUSTBENEWHERE GASP* IHAVETOGOSETUP APARTYNOWBYE!!” And just like that, she was gone. Lyra looks around. “uhh… okay” clearly in shock from the sudden appearance and disappearance of Pinkie Pie. Shake was trying to hold back a laugh because he just met one of the mane six, which happened to be Pinkie Pie. Dark turns to Lyra. “umm, where new here and we aren’t sure of where to go” Lyra looks at us. I’m impressed she isn’t pestering us about humans. “You two should go see twilight” She points with her hoof “She’ll help you get situated here in Ponyville” “Alright thanks” I start walking in that direction, not waiting for shake to catch up. I look up and I see another Pegasus with a black coat, like mine, but instead of blue, he had crimson. He flew by overhead at a slow pace, with his hooves out in front of him like superman, he didn’t seem to notice me Shakes caught up to me. “Whatcha looking at?” I pointed, not saying a word. I shook my head, dispelling the trance, I continued walking toward Twilight’s library. I must say, it looked identical to how it did in the TV show… only more lifelike. I arrived at the door with Shakes behind me, I peered through the window and all of the lights were off… I started to turn the knob when it hit me… pinkie was throwing a surprise party for me “SUUUPRIIISE!!” the lights flicked on and a bunch of ponies jumped from their hiding places, confetti rained from the ceiling. I looked at shakes but he looked like he’d had a heart attack. I walked inside and all of the ponies rushed forward to greet me into Ponyville. A Purple unicorn with a star-shaped cutie mark walked passed me to check on Shakes. She looked at my flank and gasped when she saw no cutie mark, it was obvious that she knew where I was from. “What are your names?” The purple unicorn told me and Shades “Uhh… My name is Dark Night, and this is my brother, Cloud Shaker” I told the unicorn. “What is your name?” “My name is Twilight Sparkle, I’ve seen another stallion that came through here about 10 years ago, he claimed to be from Cloudsdale but infact, he came from another world… is your story the same?” I desperately looked for a way out but when I couldn’t I admitted it “yes” “You came from a planet called ‘Earth’ correct?” I wanted to deny it but Twilight was too smart, she’d know I was lying. Just then I see another unicorn pony with a Neon green coat walk down the stairs “Twilight? What is everypony doing here?” Twilight looked at him, “Barry, these are two new ponies, from earth” Barry perked up “Earth? It’s been so long since I’ve heard that word” Barry walked up to me and shook my hoof, “The name’s Mint Barry, but you can just call me Barry if you’d like” “It’s nice to meet you Barry, my name is Dark Night and this is my brother, Cloud shaker,” I leaned closer to Barry and whispered: “My human name was Joshua Hansen, and my brother’s name was Levi Hansen” “Well it’s good to see that you two are getting along here well.” Shakes wakes up and he scratches his head “what… happened?” Barry walked over to Shakes and they shook hooves. Twilight trots over to me “I’m assuming that since you are new here, you’d need a place to stay for the night, I’m sure AppleJack or Rarity wouldn’t mind sharing a house for the night” “Thank you for being so generous, I’d be happy to have a place to sleep for the night, until I can get a place of my own.” “Good, I’ll ask Shadow if he can ask AppleJack if she has a place for you to stay” She went outside and whistled, a few moments later, a black and crimson Pegasus swooped down and landed infront of Twilight. Twilight said a few words and the black Pegasus nodded and looked straight at me, I turned my head to avoid his gaze. He flew off towards Sweet Apple Acres and Twilight came back inside. “Shadow said that he’d go ask if you could stay with them. I didn’t tell him where you were from but I think he had an idea” “Thanks Twilight” I smiled and I went to go pull Shakes away from a buffet table filled with snacks. “NOO! MY NACHOS!” He started hitting me and trying to get back to his plate of nachos. I dragged him out of the door, right as the black Pegasus from earlier arrived “So, you must be the new ponies, Dark Night and Cloud Shaker huh?” We both nodded “I thought so… AppleJack said both of you could spend a night or two, but you’d have to sleep with Applebloom or sleep in the barn” “Thanks uhh…” “Shadow” “Yeah, thanks Shadow. I guess we should be going now” I trotted past him and I flew into the air, and Shakes was next to me, flying faster than me. “I still won’t forgive you for wasting those nachos” //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Three //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Three Chapter three: We got assaulted (I would just like to let everyone know that I’m not good at putting Applejack’s accent into words, so for the sake of my own sanity, I will have her talk normally and throw in some of her slurs when I can… sorry y’all!) We flew towards Sweet Apple Acres in silence, when we had arrived, we knocked on the door and were immediately greeted by AppleJack who violently shook my hoof. The force of Applejack shaking my hoof restricted my ability to speak; Luckily, Shakes was there to stop that. He took hold of her hoof and started shaking it “My name is Cloud Shaker! Nice to meet you Applejack” She turned to me and i introduced myself. "My name is Dark Night" "Nice to meet ya!" Applejack took us inside and introduced us to Granny Smith, Big Macintosh, and Applebloom (who was wearing her CMC cape) Big Mac shook my hoof and responded in a deep toned voice “Nice to meet you” He backed away and when Applebloom saw we didn’t have cutie marks, she fainted on the spot. Applejack smiled and laughed “haha, it’s getting late, let’s get Applebloom to bed, Dark, would you like to help?” I didn’t have anything better to do “Sure” I pick up Applebloom and I help carry her to her bed, I put her down and I placed the blankets over her. Applejack and I Quietly walk out of her room. Once we were out Applejack closed the door and we went back downstairs. Shakes was talking to Big Mac, and Granny Smith was passed out in her rocking chair. We went into the living room and Applejack sat across from me. “Soo… uhh, where are ya interested in sleeping at? Ya can sleep in my room, Applebloom’s, or the barn, whichever suits your needs” I looked away, “Y-y-your r-room would be f-fine” “Great! I suppose I’ll show you around the farm when there is light in the sky, but for now come with me, I’m getting tired and I’m heading to bed,” She gets up and trots up the stairs towards her room “You coming?” “Yes” I get up and I follow her into her room. She opened a door with an apple printed on the middle of it, I stepped inside and I looked around. One bed, green floors, red rug, nightstand with a lamp on it, and various knick-knacks hung around her room. She pointed to a pile of blankets folded in one corner of her room. “Go ahead and get yerself situated, I’ll be back in a minute, I am going to go see what your brother wants to do for his sleeping arrangements” “Okay” Applejack left the room and I went to make myself a bed, by pulling down two blankets, one to lay on and the other to go ontop of me while I sleep. After I make the bed and I lay down, I start to hear hoofsteps coming towards the door, it opens and I see Applejack accompanied by Shakes enter. “It appears yer brother wants to sleep in here too, well I reckon that is fine by me.” Applejack goes to lay down on her bed “Gnite dark, Gnite Shakes” “Good night Applejack” we both say. The orange pony just laughs a little and falls asleep. Shakes grabs two blankets from the pile and makes another bed, just like mine. I close my eyes and I fall asleep. In my dream I was back on earth, but I was still a pony, I walked around on familiar streets and I walk up to my apartment, which was rented out to another family. There was a frame on the wall with a piece of paper inside of it that read: “R.I.P. Joshua Hansen and Levi Hansen, May their souls rest in piece” I backed away from it and I ran outside, somehow it had become nighttime, I ran towards the restaurant I used to eat at a lot but there was a sign that read the same thing, Posted on a banner outside of the restaurant. I looked up and I saw a figure, but not just any figure, it looked… like a PONY! The figure landed a few feet in front of me, from watching the TV show, I knew who it was. “Princess Luna” I bowed. “Rise, Dark. I’ve come with a message. ‘Survive the night and your destiny will be set in stone’ not literally anyway. Keep faith and you will do fine.” “Princess Luna… what does that message mean?” “I am not certain, but keep your wits about you Dark Night, and you will do well” “I don’t like it… but I guess I have no choice. I am honored to be in your presence Princess Luna” The princess didn’t say another word and vanished from sight. I woke up; it is still Night-time. I whisper quietly to myself: “What did Princess Luna say? ‘Survive the night and your destiny will be set in stone’? Well, I hope it isn’t talking about this night, because if it is…. I’m screwed” Apparently Shakes heard me because he groaned in his sleep. “right, I need to keep quiet” I get out of bed and I sneak downstairs, past Granny Smith and out the front door. I trot toward a stray tree stump and I sit down on it. “It still feels like a dream. But it looks so realistic.” I pinch myself and I winced in pain. “Definitely not a dream” I looked up and I saw a figure soar through the air, it was a figure with a pitch black coat and stripes or crimson in his mane and tail… wait a second, that’s Shadow! I wonder what he is doing out here. I looked closer and I saw that he was staring at something behind me, as if there was something trying to sneak up on me to rip my heart out. I turn around to see a Giant Black figure with sharp claws looming over me. I jump off of the tree stump and I rocketed into the sky. Not a moment too soon, the beast had narrowly missed me with its claws and is coming in for another strike at me. I flew out of its reach but then the black figure melted away into a pitch black gryphon-shaped bird with solid white eyes. I flew away as fast as a could knowing I had to get away, I caught a glimpse of shadow flying behind the beast, probably seeing if I’d need help or not. I managed to out-fly the gryphon. I flew down and I picked up a rock in my hooves, I turned around in midflight and I threw the rock, nailing the gryphon right in its left eye. It roared in outrage, while it was distracted I picked up a few more rocks, which were slightly bigger and sharper on some edges. “Eat these!” I threw the rocks into the gryphon’s open maw, the gryphon tried to swallow them like a nasty pill and I flew in with the sharpest rock I could find and I jabbed it into the gryphon’s chest, where its heart should be. It either didn’t pierce deep enough or the heart was somewhere else because the rock fell out and the gryphon swipped at my wing, knocking me to the ground, I immediately ran off on hooves towards the farm house. I turned around to see shadow cheering me on, the gryphon was right on my tail… literally, I ran away as fast as I could, I found another rock and I threw it at the gryphons right eye, temporarily blinding it. It roared loudly, I kept running and I saw Applejack’s room light turn on and I saw Applejack staring at me in horror. “whoo-wee! Looks like you got yerself a rodeo! You gotta ride the bull!” She shouted I picked up another rock and threw it, temporarily blinding the gryphon again, I took Applejack’s advice and I jumped on its back, I buried my hooves into its black mane and it tried to buck me off. I was going to say something really badass, but if I tried to open my mouth, I’d probably bite my tongue off. Finally the gryphon started getting tired and it fell to the ground. Cautious that this may just be a feint defeat move, I warily grabbed a stone off of the ground and I advanced on the gryphon, plunging it deep into its chest. I pierced it’s heart and it was starting to dissolve, I could hear it say something but I couldn’t catch what it said. Shadow Flash flew in behind me “DUDE, THAT WAS AWESOME!” I was too tired from that experience to say anything, I just fell over onto a pile of ash on the ground from there the gryphon died and I passed out. When I opened my eyes I saw Applejack, Shadow and Shakes looming over me, smiling at me. Applejack said: “Dang I knew that Shadow could’ve taken down a Regenerans Bestia but when I saw you it attacking you, I thought you would be a goner, but you killed it and that is amazing” Shadow nodded and said: “Yeah, I didn’t know if you could’ve taken it by yourself, I even made a wager with myself saying that you wouldn’t last more than a minute with it… boy was I wrong” Shakes turn to me, he opened his mouth and shouted: “DUDE, THAT WAS AWESOME! I only got to see the part where you were riding it like a bull but I’ve got to admit, that was awesome” I leaned forward and I rubbed my head “what did you call it? Something like ‘regenerans bestia’? what does that mean?” Shadow responded first: “It is latin for ‘regenerating beast’ it regenerates its lost limbs, you can only kill one by piercing its heart” I blinked at Shadow. “Regenerating beast huh? Supposedly it is one of the most deadly creatures on this planet?” Shadow nodded. “Yep, and you killed one” “Once my wing is better, you’re going to teach me how to fight” Shadow laughs “Sure thing, now you get some rest, you can’t use that wing until it is fully healed” “Understood” I smile at Shadow, I look at Shakes and Applejack again and I passed out. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Four //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Four Chapter four: The Mare of my dreams I woke up in the hospital, nopony was around, I laid my head back and I whistled a tune to myself. It was early in the morning and I could hear a few doctors talking between themselves outside the door. A few moments later, the door opened and a doctor entered. “Mr. Dark, is it?” I nodded. “You are good to leave the hospital, as long as you stay off of that wing for another 2 days or so, you should be fine” I sat up and I rubbed my wing, feeling pain everywhere I touched. I winced and I got out of the bed. “Thank you doctor” The doctor said nothing as I trotted past him. I folded my wings against my sides and I trotted outside of the hospital, I trotted into Ponyville and I saw a yellow Pegasus with a pink mane fly by helping a line of geese cross a street. “Hello there Dear Miss Fluttershy” “EEP!” Fluttershy hid her face from my sight. I walked up to her “It’s okay Fluttershy” “Who… Who are you? I’ve never seen you before here in Ponyville” “My name is Dark Night, I just recently fought a huge monster and killed it. So uh… yeah” She looked at my wing and saw that there was a cut, immediately her eyes filled with concern and flew over to my side—the side with my hurt wing “D-did that huge monster hurt your wing?” I nodded. “Oh my, come with me right now, let’s go get that wing patched up so it can heal correctly.” She dragged me against my will towards her cottage, out of the corner of my eye I saw a brown earth pony with an hourglass cutie mark, walking with a grey Pegasus with a yellow mane, and bubbles as a cutie mark… it took me a moment to realize who the two were, Time Turner (AKA Doctor Whooves) and Ditzy Doo (AKA Derpy hooves) I looked back at them, still being dragged by Fluttershy, I saw Derpy give the Doctor a muffin, the doctor took it and ate it. I turned back to Fluttershy who was struggling trying to drag me to her cottage “Fluttershy, I can walk ya know” She blushed. “I knew that…” She dropped me, I got up dusted myself off and I walked in the direction she was originally pulling me towards. “Lead the way Miss Fluttershy” She nodded and flew off in the direction of her cottage. Once we arrived she rushed into her cottage to grab some ointments and she rushed back outside. “Uh, Fluttershy? Aren’t Pegasi wings supposed to heal by themselves?” “Oh I know they are, I’m just helping with the healing process, making it heal better” She spread some of the strange liquid over my wings and felt instant pain relief. “wow that works really well. The pain is already gone” She looked up and smiled, I blushed and turned away. “Thank you Fluttershy,” I gave her a big friendly hug “I really appreciate what you just did for me” “Oh, it’s no problem really,” She turned her head, I couldn’t see it but I knew she was blushing. “Would you like to go inside? I’m sure you can make yourself at home” “Uh sure, why not?” I walked into her cottage, remembering what it looked like in the TV show, surprisingly it looked identical. I looked around and saw Angel bunny laying on his favorite spot on the couch, fast asleep. Once the door closed, he jolted awake and shook his fist in the air at Fluttershy, obviously mad that she’d woke him up. Fluttershy flew over to angel bunny and scooped him up “I’m so, so sorry angel bunny, you can go back to sleep now” She rocked him in her arms and he fell back asleep. “So may I stay the night with you?” I asked hopefully, if I had fingers, I’d be crossing them. She flew up to me, and did something I really didn’t anticipate, she kissed me! I was in temporary shock. And Fluttershy realized what she did and immediately started apologizing “Oh I’m so-so sorry Dark, I don’t know what came over me, just being in a room with a handsome stallion such as yourself.” “Shh, it’s alright Fluttershy. I forgive you” She smiled but still looked ashamed of herself. I gave her a reassuring look and that seemed to do the trick. “Yes dark, you may stay the night here.” I smiled and I hugged her. “Thank you Fluttershy” She brang me to her room and I made myself a bed just like the one I made at Applejack’s house, a blanket underneath and a blanket ontop of me. Fluttershy flew to her bed and laid down to rest. I thought to myself the battle with that regenerating beast. Thinking of how I kept on nailing it right in its eyes. I was pretty good at aiming, I looked down at my blank flank and I wondered… maybe… I didn’t get much sleep, I kept thinking about that conversation I had in the hospital with Shadow, asking him to train me. And I kept thinking about Princess Luna, appearing in my dream. I wonder if she’ll appear to me in my dreams once more. To find out, I rest my head against the blanket and I closed my eyes. And I drifted off to sleep.
