Chapter 1: Life isn’t fair

It was after work hours and the bar was packed. Two men were sitting next to each other on stools drinking beer. The man on the right was a 25 year old white guy with brown shaved hair, his name was Jeff. The guy on the left was a 20 year old black guy with a black afro, his name was Chad.

“Man I’m so sorry for what happened” Chad said, “I had no clue she was in a relationship with you…I hope we can put all of this behind us”

“Yea sure, whatever” Jeff responded bitterly, he wasn’t angry at the stranger because he knew it wasn’t his fault, but he didn’t feel like talking to him. “I gotta go”

“So you forgive me?”

“I guess” Jeff said as he was getting up from his seat. He was stopped when Chad embraced him in a hug, this creeped Jeff out and he tried to bush Chad off of him but Chad held on tight.

“So where best friends forever now right?”

Jeff pushed Chad off of him. “No were not” he said as he began to walk away.

Chad’s eyes started to water, “but…but…I thought you forgave me”

“Yes I did forgive you, but were not friends”. Jeff began to walk away.

“Your mean” Chad said sadly.

Now Jeff was pissed off, he turned around to face Chad.  “I’m mean…I’m mean! You had sex with my girlfriend you asshole! You’re lucky we where only going out for a week or I would have fucking killed you!” Everyone in the bar was now listing to this conversation.

“I told you I didn’t know she was in a relationship! I think you should take a chill bill and come to the moves with me to cool down”

Jeff stared at Chad dumbfounded, “did you…just ask me out on a date?”

“No, how is going to the movies with a guy I just met considered a date? I’m not gay”

“You are one strange individual…I’m gonna go now…” Jeff turned around and walked out of the bar.

A 20 year old guy with black hair was sitting on a couch in his bedroom about to smoke some weed out of a bong with his 20 year old girlfriend who also has black hair. The guys name was Bryan, the girls name was Tracy.

“My paintings are selling really well” Tracy said, “I think we should move to a bigger city where I can really shine with my artwork’

“Yea baby, that’s a great idea, I could go to like college or something” Bryan responded

“That’s what you said last year…and yet here we are, stuck in a shitty house in a shitty town”

“That’s nice” Bryan said, clearly ignoring her and stuffing the weed into the bowel.

“Whatever” Tracy said as she got off the couch and walked out of the house. Realizing how stupid he was acting, Bryan put the bong down and went after Tracy who was getting in her car. He opened the door and sat in the other seat.

“Hey I’m sorry, I forgot how much this means to you…I know you want to leave this shitty down and do something with your life. I know what will cheer you up, how about we go see a movie eh?”

Tracy smiled “sure”; she then kissed Bryan and started the car.

In a park, sitting on a bench was Jeff’s brother John; he was 24 years old and had brown hair. Sitting beside him was his wife Mary; she was 25 years old and had blond hair. They were watching their kids play on the jungle gym. They had a 10 year old Daughter named Sophie who had blond hair, and an 13 year old son named Eric who had brown hair. John noticed his 16 year old sister Cynthia walking by with her friends, she had black hair, a lip piercing, and a tattoo of a dragon on her arm. John was deep in thought; he had been fired from his job yesterday and hadn’t told his wife yet. He had to find another job fast if he was going to support his family. Also at the park was a 57 year old bald man with his granddaughter. The man’s name was Harold and his granddaughter’s name was Jamie, she had red hair and freckles. Harold had cancer and was afraid that the chemo therapy wouldn’t work. He wanted to spend as much time as possible with his family before he died. Something caught Harold’s attention, out of the corner of his eye he could see a strange purple light coming from a bush. John and Mary also noticed when Harold went to inspect it. Soon Harold, John, Mary, Eric, Sophie, and even Cynthia where looking at the bush while Jamie and the other kids kept playing on the jungle gym.

“What do think it i-“ John was interrupted when the purple light grew bigger, the light turned into a portal and sucked him in as well as Harold, Mary, Eric, Sophie, Cynthia, and some guy with blond hair and glasses named Mike. Once they were sucked in, the portal disappeared.

Jeff walked out of the bar, he turned around to see if Chad was following him and saw him pick a flower and walk over to him.

“I wanted to give you this flower as a sign of our new friendship” Chad said as he held out the flower.

“Piss off!” Jeff yelled as he turned to walk away. Suddenly a purple light appeared that blinded a driver, causing her to crash and flip the car over. The driver was Tracy…and her neck had snapped form the impact. Bryan tumbled out of the car, dazed not knowing what had just happened. Jeff ran over to the car to check on Tracy, whose head was sticking out the window, and felt her pulse.

“is…is she dead?” Chad asked as he walked up behind Jeff.

“…yes”

Chad looked at the body and then happily skipped off, “oh well that sucks, anyway got to go!”

Jeff looked at Chad in disgust, “a person just died and you’re happy?”

“Of course, why wouldn’t I be? It’s not like I knew her or anything”. Chad skipped over to the purple portal to examine it. Bryan walked over to Jeff, still confused. Once he saw Tracy, tears came down his cheeks, “Tracy…Tracy?”

Jeff put a hand on Bryan's shoulder, “I’m sorry…she’s dead”

Bryan burst into tears and fell on his knees. A black man with black shaved hair named Tyrone came running up to the car. “I called the police” he said, “is she…?

“Yes” responded Jeff as Bryan continued to cry.

Tyrone put a hand on Bryan’s shoulder, “I’m so sorry, I know how it feels…my brother died yesterday”.

“Hey guys…” Chad said, “The purple thing is acting really weird…”

Just then the portal sucked up Chad, Jeff, Bryan, and Tyrone.

“TRACY!” Bryan screamed as he got sucked into the portal. The portal led to some forest where Bryan hit his head on a rock. He got a good look around the forest. The colors were really bright…in fact it seemed almost cartoonish. He then saw the strange wooden paw of a wolf in front of his face. Everything looked filmler...like he had seen if before. Suddenly he remembered being forced to watch a show called 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic' on TV when he was babysitting his little sister. He looked up and his suspicions where confirmed as he looked into the eyes of a Timber Wolf.

"No. Fucking. Way" Bryan said as he slipped into unconsciousness...he was in Equestria.
