Wiper continued looking right past her, pretending it was one of the other two ponies she ment. "Lieutenant Wiper, are you there?" He knew she was talking to him, so he stopped pretending it was another pony she ment. He responded. "Yes?" Wiper looked up at Captain Rednose, a mare pegasi, maybe 20-25 years old. "You do know ignoring higher ups will get you demoted right?" Wiper sighed and nodded. "Yes, i do know that." Rednose shook her head and looked at the two other ponies, standing on the sides of Wiper, then back at Wiper. "I congratulate you three for getting promoted to Lieutenant today. But dont think you are somepony special yet, you have quite a bit to go to actual fame. And-" Wiper impatently stepped on the ground. "Yeah, we know Captain, you told that like 25 times now!" "Actually only 12." Wiper turned his attention to the unicorn to his right, who just had spoken. And so did Rednose. "Thats correct Greenhorn." The pony reacted. "Hey, my name isnt Greenhorn! Its-" "Not like i care that much. You are in the royal guard, and having everypony say their whole name at all times would really be annoying." Wiper knew she had a point, but he felt like she was a bit too frontial. "Thats all, dismissed!" With that, Rednose pushed out the three ponies of the what seemed like a office, with a sign on the door in that said "Promotion Office". Wiper had thought it was wierd, but didnt bother to ask why. Then he finaly paid attention to the two other ponies. One of them was a unicorn, the other one was a pegasus, like Wiper. "So, what are you two gonna do now?" Wiper turned his attention to the unicorn that had been called "Greenhorn" in the promotion office, then replied shortly. "I dunno, i guess fly home?" Then Wiper took off down the short hallway ahead of the two others, and went outside to the big city of Canterlot. He started talking to himself, he wasnt actually sure why, it was just a habit stuck in his brain. "Meh, i have nothing to do and im off duty. ...Might as well just check out how this little village i saw a dozen times whilst traveling between Canterlot and Manehattan. ...I think it was called Ponyville." He took off in to the air, and noticed his old friend, Cool Wind, salute to him, then Wiper couldnt see him anymore as he flew outside the city walls. ............... Wiper landed near an outpost which seemed awfully empty, and got a bad feeling about it. There was so signs of fight or fire or any sorts of damage, but it was too quiet, even though it was evening. He thought of flying back to inform Captain Rednose, but thought it would take too long, becuase if the place was being raided, and there was injured guards inside the underground bunker, then they would probably die when Wiper was away. He thought of the option and chose the one that seemed best to him: He would investergate the outpost, and hope that it wasnt an ambush. And so he did, he opened the door to the stairs down and went downstairs. Everything seemed normal. He searched for anypony for a while, but there was nopony at all. Nopony sleeping, nopony guarding, and nopony eating! Wiper decided that something strange was going on, so decided to leave before that might happen him too. He managed to leave the outpost without any trouble, flied to a nearby outpost (which seemed completely normal) and told the guards about what he had seen and his rank. The guards said they would handle it, and also said that Wiper should relax becuase he was off duty. Wiper nodded, the flied away to the small village called Ponyville, and decided to look around before it became night. "Alright, lets check out this village i have been hearing about!" He grinned. And other stuff.] //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: The Attack //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: The Attack Blue looked around. It had been seconds since the electricity went out. Or was it minutes? The pegasus mare did not know. All she knew was that the power in her small Cloudsdale apartment was gone. All gone. It had happened before though. There was one time the electricity had gone out, and that was when an kid decided to fool around for a bit, and had shut down the power generator. But then, the people of Cloudsdale had been told about the electricity shortage, and why. But now, there was nothing. Nopony knocking on her doors, informing her why the electricity was out. There was silence. Dead silence. Just as she decided to fly outside and ask what was going on... Boom. There was a huge sound, which she took as an explosion. Then it died out, just as sudden as it had came. And smoke rised towards the sky. Blue got worried, and hurried outside. What did she see? Royal guard everywhere. "This must be very serious", she thought and flew over to the location of the blast. ......... Wiper had for the last seconds just stared at the surrounding area. There had been alot of explosions at different locations at the exact same time. Like it was planned. That was not all the bad news. Contact with 16 outposts had been lost at the same time as the explosions, 7 of them found completely devastated and no of the investergated outposts had been intact. And there had been reported a big smoke cloud coming from 5 of them. Wiper presumed all those 16 outposts had been... Attacked. All those explosions at the same time? It was too convenient. And if that was the case- "Excuse me, are you Lieutenant Wiper by any chance?" He turned to face the white unicorn with light and green dark mane and tail, carrying royal guard suit. "Yes, i am. How so?" "I have been ordered to inform you your assistance is needed in Canterlot." Wiper looked at the unicorn, wondering what he was talking about. "Me? Needed in Canterlot? Why?" "Im not sure sir, but i heard there was an attack...", he responded. Wiper didnt need to be told twice. He quickly hurried outside and took off into the sky, heading for Canterlot. ......... Heat. Then cold. Pain. Alot of it. Rain, in alot of pain, decided to take a minute to understand what had happened, and assess his injuries. There had been an explosion in an house he had been walking past. He had atleast 3 burn injuries. One on his chest, one of his flank, and one on his right hindleg. He also had a wound on his left frontleg. It was bleeding, but it wouldnt kill anytime soon. He was also stuck under a stone wall that the explosion had knocked over. He felt his vision fading, and a urge to sleep grew stronger. But he knew that if he would sleep, it would be all over. He tried to use his magic to remove the stone wall from him, but nothing happened. His head fell and he looked to his right. A shock took place. There it was. He understood why he couldn't use his magic. Half of his horn... Was laying infront of his face. [End of Part 3: The Attack] //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: The Battle Begins //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: The Battle Begins It was not a good sight. Canterlot, in mostly ruins, with fires everywhere. All hospitals had been filled within minutes of the explosions, and every second that passed caused a pony's health to reach critical status, putting them on the verge of death. Most of the ponies put on that edge had not made it, and passed away slowly, but not in pain. Some had not died, but gone in to a very deep coma which seemed incurable. And a few ponies had recovered. Wiper felt sad as he counted the injury number of civilians only in Canterlot. There was 1 283 injured ponies, 691 dead, 198 in coma, 34 had recovered, 73 had been found under debree and 1 274 was missing, both civians and millitary, most likely dead or trapped under debree. Princess Celestia was one of the missing ponies, but Princess Luna had been found under debree. She was saved becuase she avoided any major injuries, and was leading the search for Celestia. But there had not been any success so far, it was like she had just completely... Vanished in to the thin air. "You OK sir?" Wiper looked back. There stood a familiar pony. The white unicorn pony with light and dark green mane and tail, with the cutiemark being a corn. "Yes... Yes, im fine", Wiper responded. Wiper looked back on the missing list. Missing #410: Rain Dust. Missing: Since the explosions. Missing #411: Cool Wind. Missing: Since 7 hours before the explosions. Wiper felt a sadness as he continued reading the list. So many missing, injured, dead, all becuase of a couple of explosions? It was terrible. But Wiper knew this wasn't over. Not just yet. ......... The white unicorn with light and dark green mane and tail called "Corn" simply waited around for any updates on the city. But no luck so far. All reports were about dead ponies, ponies found under debree, and injured ponies. Oh, and about the fires. The explosions were aimed at critical places. The castle, the firehouses, and police stations. The fires were now out of control, stores were being raided despite royal guard efforts. Canterlot had announced a Class 1 warning, otherwise known as Code Red, and all royal guard were asked to report there. But Cloudsdale had reported a Class 3 warning, otherwise known as Code Yellow, requesting technicians to fix the power station. Ponyville had not been hit, but they released a Class 2 warning, otherwise known as Code Orange, becuase of half of the population. But none of the carriers of the Elements of Harmony was missing, which Corn felt better over. But as he looked back at Wiper, he knew that this wasn't over. Not anytime soon. This was just the start... ......... "I-Is everypony alright?" Blue tried to get a peak on the powerstation as a bunch of medical pegasus ponies approached it. But she was stopped by royal guard troops. "P-Please... Help..." Blue felt ill. Who wouldnt? Ponies, laying wounded infront of the factory, crying for help as their life drained out of them. She barely had any time to react as a loud explosion was heard behind her, and screams of pain. "EVERYPONY GET DOWN! WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!" ......... Rain felt less and less of his body. He could no longer feel his hindlegs, which had been crushed for the last 7 minutes. He felt it was all over. Just like that dream he had, exept this time, it wasnt a dream. It was reality. Cruel reality. He were just on the verge of giving up, when he saw the stone wall crushing his hindlegs moving slightly. "Ugh... This su- Wait, blue colour?" The stone wall was surrounded by a purple field of magic, and moved from his legs. Rain felt too tired to look up at all, with his horn broken, burnmarks on his body, and no feeling in his hindlegs. "Hey... We got one here! Quick, i think he is dying!" Rain heard a a bunch of galloping approached. "Oh my-" "Oh sweet Celestia!" "I-Is he dead" "His horn! It... It is broken!" Rain felt the urge to sleep getting to strong for him to suppress, and his eyevision faded, slowly. "No! Please... Please dont die!" Rain didnt want to sleep. But the urge was too strong for him to handle. As he lost consciousness, his mind was able to catch up two more sentances before drawing a blank. "We are losing him! Come on, dont you dare die on me!" ......... 15 minutes had passed since Wiper talked with this new white unicorn, and then what seemed like a mail pony came in and put two documents on the table. "Updated report, sir." "Thank you." The mail pony left. Wiper took one of the fresh documents on the table infront of him. it read: "Missing Ponies Found". He opened it. "Missing #410: Rain Dust | Status: Found under debree, Health critical level. Class 1 medical assistance needed for survival." There was also a bunch of other names, but #411 was nowhere on the list. "Cool Wind, where did you go..." Wiper thought as he put back the document on the table, and picked up the other document. It read: "War Report". [End of Part IV: The Battle Begins] //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Story Deepens //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Story Deepens Wiper looked around. It had been only minutes since he arrived at Ponyville, but everypony seemed to be too busy to get somewhere else and paid no attention to him. Exept for one mare who ran in to him. But she only continued running before he could ask anything. "What is with this town..." Wiper shook his head in dissapointment. "When you run in to somepony, you just continue going without even apologizing? I'll have a talk with the mayor now, maybe she or he can explain whats going on here." With that, Wiper went towards the mayor's office. .................. "What do you mean she isnt here?!" Wiper was almost screaming at the receptionist, demanding an answer. She replied a bit scared. "I-i dont know!" "What the buck does that mean?!" "I heard there was some special event near a royal guard outpost, something about missing crew, and when investergators went in they never reported back..." Wiper stood for a few moments, then asking another question. "Who reported it?" The receptionist opened a desk and took out a paper of some sort. "Lets see... It was... Lieutenant Wiper from the royal guard who reported the outpost was missing crew." Wiper knew it was that outpost he checked earlier. He rushed out the front door, and outside were a small crowd of ponies, who stood near the door and seemed to have been listening to what was said in there. He glared at them and they backed away. Then he took off in to the air, and could see a big crowd of pegasi ponies. It was probably ponies from the royal guard, judging by their suits. He decided to fly to the suspicious outpost. .................. "So you are Lt. Wiper, correct?" "Yes sir." Infront of Wiper was a white unicorn, with blue mane. He had a royal guard suit that looked just like Captain Rednose's, so Wiper assumed he was a captain as well. "And when you came here, it was nopony here, correct?" "Yes, thats correct." "And you claim that there was nopony here at all? Not even any traces?" Wiper thought about it. "Yes, there was nopony here at all." The captain turned another direction, and started mumbling to himself. "...Wierd. How can ponies just dissapear like that?!" Wiper wished he would have known. There was no mess at all, like it had been prepared. Exept for one thing. The lunchroom. Wiper had been able to go in there and check it out, and what did he see? Plates, covered with food thrown on the floor, and red stains here and there. He saw a knife with red on its tip whilst down there too. "What in Equestria had happened here...?" he wondered.
