Rainbow Dash trudged alone on the outskirts of Ponyville. She heaved a sigh, upset that she was alone. She was always alone on Hearts And Hooves day. At first, she was alright with it, but she soon grew jealous of the other ponies. So she headed to the edge of town to cool off.
*Why doesn't anypony like me?* She thought. `Am I too energetic, too competitive? She shook those thoughts from her head.
"Don't think like that, Dash," She scolded herself. "Anypony would be lucky to be with you."
"Look out below!" A voice bellowed. The cyan pegasus looked around, then upwards. In the sky, as clear as day, a pegasus with a gray coat and a blonde mane was coming towards the ground, fast. The words Derp trailed behind her, and farther behind her were a circle of muffins. Rainbow was shocked at the sight before her. The pegasus known as Derpy had performed her own Sonic Rainboom, or was it Sonic Muffinboom? Dash came to her senses, and scrambled to get away, but it was too late, and Derpy crashed into the rainbow-maned pony.
They both groaned in pain. Derpy then stood up and stretched, testing out her limbs to see if any were broken. Derpy smiled, happy she was okay. Rainbow did the same, and she was also fine. She then turned to Derpy and glared.
"Derpy what were you doing!?" Rainbow yelled. Derpy's features saddened.
"I'm sorry Rainbow Dash, I was just all alone and bored and I thought it would be cool to do a Rainboom because I thought about the time you did one." She sniffled, the lisp in her voice was apparent. She was crying at this point. Rainbow Dash's features changed too, now softening. She put a hoof on her friend's shoulder.
"Hey, it's okay Derpy, no harm done." She said. Derpy wiped her eyes with a hoof.
"R-really?" The gray pegasus asked. Rainbow simply nodded.
"Oh thank you Dash, I hate it when people are mad at me!" Derpy said, pulling her friend into a hug.
"It's not a problem, and I have to say that was pretty impressive." The cyan pegasus told the other.
"What was?" The cross-eyed pony inquired.
"The Sonic Rainboom you did, or is it Sonic Muffinboom?"
"Ooo Muffinboom sounds good."
"I would think so." Dash laughed. She knew of her friend's affinity for muffins. Suddenly a thought crossed Dash's mind.
*Why is she alone, where's Dinky or Dr. Whooves?*
"Hey Derpy?"
"Yeah?"
"Why are you, you know, alone?"
Oh, The Doctor is at a convention and Dinky's with her friends." She answered. "So I got bored and tried to do a Sonic Rainboom."
"Oh."
Rainbow turned away, facing the sky. The sun was already starting to set.
*Or was I gone long without noticing it?* She thought.
She heard a gasp behind her.
"What?" She asked, turning to face the other pony.
"It's just that I didn't know the sun was setting so soon, and I wanted to do something." Derpy replied.
"What is it?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"It's a really amazing view, do you want to come?" Derpy said, getting excited.
Rainbow smiled. "Eh, why not?"
Derpy smiled a wide smile, and her golden eyes glowed.
"Alright, let's go!" The clumsy pegasus cheered, already lifting up Dash by the armpits.
"Derpy wait I'm not-" Dash didn't finish her sentence, for she was already in the air, being held by the armpits by Derpy.

Derpy flew in the air for a while, until she found what she had been looking for. It was one cloud in a vast expanse of clear sky. She singled in on the cloud, and landed gracefully. She released Dash from her grip and they both took a seat on the cloud.
"See?" Derpy asked, pointing her left hoof off in the distance.
Rainbow Dash could only nod. The view was truly beautiful, just as Derpy had said. The sun was lower in the sky, turning part of the sky a pinkish color. The clouds higher up were also pink looking. Rainbow smiled. The sight was just so amazing, and because she was sharing sharing it with a good friend like Derpy.
"Wow." Dash said in awe.
"Yeah." The gray mare agreed dreamily. Derpy nuzzled against Rainbow Dash.
"I'm glad you're with me." Derpy cooed.
"Me too," Dash agreed. "But about you."
The rainbow pegasus wrapped a foreleg around the blonde pony. Rainbow Dash sighed in content
She thought, *Maybe Hearts And Hooves day isn't so bad after all.*
