The Everfree Forest is a mysterious place, known to all, understood by none.
Inside dwell many magical beings, as old and dangerous as they come and subject to many tall tales and flight of fancy.
But none more so than Sunny Town, a town that, through there own folly, has met a terrible fate.
A town without a past, a present or a future.
To forever be frozen in the river of time, to know neither peace nor rest.
This is the story of a curious, young filly who just wanted to know her place in this world.
But, as we all know, Curiosity Often Kills the Cat.

Chapter 0 - Introduction

Greetings wayward traveler,

You seem to have caught me mixing one of my brews.

May name is Zecora the Zebra,

but since your here, this is probably not news.

You need not speak, for I know why you're here.

There is a story I know, and it's one that you must hear.

A story of an ancient town long cursed,

and though it may sound quite rehearsed

I can assure you, my dear pony

that this story is not a phony,

and to ignore it is to invite the worst.

Before I can begin my tale, though

there are some things that you should know.

Let us begin with the Everfree Forest,

as this is the story's main setting.

A place both dark and dangerous,

it's not something you'll soon be forgetting.

A place where, nature runs wild

many have seen it as beguiled,

But it is often best to stay away,

lest you become a hungry monster's prey.

And when I say monsters

I don't mean just hydras, cockatrice, or the occasional manticore

because in these woods, there is always much, much more.

For in the midst of the vast Everfree,

if you walk long enough you will see

the odd little city of Sunny Town

where everyone is happy, and no one wears a frown.

However, as with all its love and cheer

Sunny Town is a place that all should fear.

Although the ponies there are kind by day,

but during the night, you'd be in for a fright

so it's best to stay far, far away.

For cursed is the city of Sunny Town,

for sins long passed, but no less profound,

to walk the forest of Everfree,

as soulless ghouls for all eternity.

Driven by anger and centuries of spite

the denizens of Sunny Town spill out into the night

to hunt and kill those who bare a cutie mark

and to fill those without with their evil spark.

Beware there touch at night

lest you join there ranks.

To become forever a walking corpse

to become one of the Blanked.

This is the tale one such pony

who, by there hands, met her doom,

a sweet young mare, who lived without care

the little filly by the name of Applebloom.
