Decisions, Decisions
Prologue
Load Full StoryThe clouds are colder at night.
The baby-blue mare mused briefly about this as she stared blankly out of the window. The dim light of Cloudsdale at a near distance shone dully into her room, illuminating the countless posters and old, read and re-read books and barely maintained dark cumulus chunks lying about. Looking away from the window, she let out a deep but fulfilling sigh.
It wasn't the cold. The cold she could deal with. It was that the only warmth she had to protect against the cold was herself. She wanted somepony else - anypony else - next to her, holding onto her as she fell asleep every night. She wanted a bright hello in the morning and a quiet kiss at night. She wanted a real relationship.
She remembered less than two years ago she'd been an Element of Harmony. A protector of Equestria, trusted by Celestia herself. Now, she was nopony.
Her life - everything was wrong. She'd lost her chance to be a Wonderbolt. She didn't have enough money to be an independent racer. Her friends were all but gone - she hadn't seen them in months. Not even Fluttershy, indisputably the closest to her.
Honestly, what she really wanted back was romance. She would hate to admit it, but she was a hopeless romantic. The thrill and lust and heat and happiness; everything was up her alley.
She turned over, throwing a pillow over her head as painful thoughts crossed her mind. All five of her friends, one by one, she'd fallen in love with. And one by one, they grew apart. She was the one who drove a wedge between them all. She was the one who broke the Elements and allowed the final attack on the castle from the Novokirghiz two years ago. If it wasn't for the power the Princesses had, Equestria would be lost. Because of her.
Her eyes began to burn. She sighed again, but it helped much less. Suddenly, a thought struck her like a javelin. She sat up. Almost instantly, she felt like jumping for joy, but settled for a wide grin, something she hadn't felt in a while.
Enough was enough. Tomorrow, first thing she would do was put a new, fantastic plan into action.
She was getting the band back together.
