My name, is Giovanni de Medici. I am an Italian merchant banker in the year of our lord 1404. I live in Venezia, and I am quite sorely confused. I lay down in my bed, content and well fed. The next I wake up in a place of some madman's dream. I have only myself, the gratitude of the people around me and four-hundred gold pieces. I must rebuild myself and my empire. Somehow.

I was frightfully tired after preparing my speech to give the Guild of Merchants to accept me into the inner circle of the most powerful guild of all of Venezia, save for the Church, (may God bless us.) Twas midsummer in Venezia, the cool morning air drifting in off of the bay, cooling my sweat but not my anxiety.
