Chapters The little pony is sitting in the only place she knows; against a dead tree in Everfree Forest trying to write a disgustingly happy poem.
"Come on Layla... think of something. Are you as worthless as you think you are?"
Her eyes begin to tear up
"Now I'm fucking talking to myself... I'm so stupid. I deserve to die."
She tears out a piece of paper and throws it to the ground. It reads:"A dream of hidden death, Embedded in her flowers - Dripping; drenched in nectar tears
Now the dream of dying soul; Confined, a trembling heart is Squeezing out the ember years

She curls up and begins to cry.
"Why? Why me? Why does everything bad happen to me?"
Suddenly a shadow appears before the crying pony.
"Aww... you poor thing."
The pony steps out from the shadow to reveal none other than Fluttershy.
"What do you want? Leave me alone! Just leave me to die... please."
Fluttershy nudges her chin up and wipes her tears before sitting down next to the pony.
"Now now, please cheer up. I'm not leaving here until I put a smile on your face!"
The pony turns away and incidentally shows her scars. Fluttershy sees this and frowns, but pulls her close to her into a big hug.
"Shh... please. Tell me about yourself, tell me why you're sad and depressed."
She gives a loving smile as the pony blushes.
Wait... is this really happening?
"My name is Layla. I write poems for a living; it's my forte you see.
Layla frowns, but it still happy on the inside, knowing someone is actually listening to and caring about her.
"Why do you harm yourself?"
Fluttershy asks with a sense of concern and wonder.
"I... w-well... u-uhh... I hate myself... I want to die. There's nothing good about me. I'm worthless and I'll never be happy and find someone who "loves" me."
Fluttershy nudges her side.
"Tsk tsk tsk... you big filly."
Fluttershy grabs her around the waist and pulls the crying pony towards her, gently spooning her.
"W-what are you doing?"
Fluttershy giggles.
"What's it look like? I'm cuddling you~
Layla smiles, shyly.
"O-okay..."
Fluttershy giggles.
"Told ya I'd make you smile~"
Fluttershy leans in close to Layla's ear and whispers something. Layla's ears go straight up as by some form of magic, she blushes even redder than she already was.
"I-I-I-I... o-okay."
Fluttershy giggles once more and carefully lets go of Layla before winking and flying off.
"Why me?
You can hear this girl, this pony beginning to sob uncontrollably. As you look closer, you can make out her features. Light black, almost gray hair with a black and pink braided mane. You can barely make out her cutiemark, which is a simple scroll and quill. The pony is laying on the ground, sobbing with a knife next to her hoof and a small puddle of blood next to her calf.
"Someone please kill me... I'm so pathetic."
"Alright... Fluttershy told me to meet her here. I'm so nervous!"
Layla stands outside the entrance to the Popcorn Movie Theater, digging into the ground with her front right hoof. She's wearing a cute little pink and black tie in her hair to compliment her mane.
"Should I wear this bow? What if she thinks it's tacky or doesn't like it? What if she goes off to her friends and makes fun of me about it? Gah!"
She kicks a large clump of dirt a few feet away and Fluttershy sneaks up behind her.
"Yay."
Fluttershy says with a cute, quiet tone, which sends Layla jumping up in the air, hanging there for a few seconds before landing back down.
"F-fluttershy! H-hey! You almost scared the wings off me..."
Fluttershy giggles
"I'm truly sorry, I just had to see how cute you would look scared~"
Layla smiles gently, blushing lightly.
"I-it's okay, Fluttershy. Just don't do it again."
Shy looks around before turning back to Layla.
"Why do you think we're here?"
Layla looks confused.
"I never actually thought about it."
Shy giggles once more.
"We're going on a date, filly."
Layla flushes a deep deep red.
"A-a d-d-date?"
Fluttershy nods with a big smile.
"B-but two m-mares can't... c-can they?"
Fluttershy nods.
"O-oh..."
Shy grabs Laylas hoof and pulls her inside the movies.
"Wow, that was a great movie!"
Fluttershy says with a smile.
"Y-yeah. I liked the part when she saved the rabbits."
"Aww! So cute!"
Fluttershy gives Layla a big hug, which makes Layla flush deep red again.
"Ahh..."
"Come on, Lay, I'll walk you home."
Layla tries to hide her smile.
"O-okay."
Both Layla and Fluttershy walk to Layla's house, talking about the movie that they had just watched.
"I-I had a fun time Flu-"
Fluttershy interrupts Layla's sentence with a kiss on the snout, sending Layla's wings straight up.
"I did too~"
"I-I-I-I-I"
Layla is unable to fathom any words.
"I'll come over tomorrow, cutie. And you may want to do something about those wings~"
Layla stands frozen until Fluttershy is fully out of view, and she collapses onto her plot, smiling, blushing and sighing happily.
"I think I may be in "love"."
