In front of it, two ponies laid on the floor, a blanket covering them. The first pony was a lavender alicorn mare, Twilight Sparkle. The other was a yellow unicorn stallion, Her husband Comet Tail. Twilight was peacefully asleep, nuzzling Comet's Neck. Comet Tail was awake, staring at the Alicorn breathing softly. It brought a smile to his face. Comet couldn't help but think back to the events that resulted in his marriage to his beloved Twilight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Comet Tail was 7 when they first met. He was wandering the streets of his birthplace, Canterlot. He didn't notice the unicorn filly heading his direction, they collided headfirst and without warning. After an awkward conversation, they introduced themselves. "My name is Twilight Sparkle." "Mines Comet Tail." Neither realized it then, but they just took the first step in a long road, a road they would walk together. After their first meeting the two ended up forming a small friendship. They would play together in the park, tell funny stories, and read under a large oak tree. Comet loved when they read under the tree. They were like this for a year until things changed. One day Twilight didn't come to the park. Comet Tail looked everywhere for Twilight, but he couldn't find her. The day after Comet found out where Twilight was. She got accepted into Celestia's school for gifted unicorns, Twilight was living at the castle now.... Away from him. Comet Tail cried that day, he cried for a very long time. It took him 15 years before he would make friends with another pony, and longer before he would see Twilight again. Comet Tail was 22, he had discovered his talent in astronomy and rose through the ranks of the Canterlot observatory. His superior, Night Bright transferred him to be the sole astronomer of the Ponyville Observatory. It was there that he opened up and made friends for the first time in many years, but something else happened in ponyville........ Comet was going to Ponyville's library to check out books on astronomy. The moment he entered the building, he noticed a familiar pony inside. It was Twilight, she was older, Comet's age. He recognized her immediately, Twilight however did not recognize Comet at first, but after a couple seconds it all came back to her. The two talked the way old friends do, reminiscing and catching up on eachother's present lives. Twilight talked about her group of friends and how she learned that she was the element of magic while Comet Tail told her about his transfer to Ponyville and how he made his own group of friends. They spent so much time talking that neither realized that it was dark outside. Comet Tail decided that he needed to head home, so Twilight brought him the books that he was looking for in the first place and he went on his way. Twilight and Comet Tail remained friends after their reunion. They would try and meet with eachother to share tales of their recent exploits, or discuss magic and astronomy. As they continued to meet, Comet began feeling different when Twilight was around. He would get an odd feeling in his stomach and be less coordinated. At first he thought it was some kind of allergy, but soon enough Comet Tail realized why he acted the way he did. He was falling for Twilight. As time went on, Comet's feelings for Twilight grew stronger, eventually to the point where he had decided to tell her how he felt. Unfortunately he had picked a bad time. The day he planned to confess, was the day Twilight became an Alicorn. After that day happened things went downhill for Comet. Twilight was wrapped up in her royal duties, having no time to spend with him. Comet Tail tried as best as he could to talk to Twilight, but her new duty prevented him from doing so. But that wasn't even the worst part. One day Twilight had returned from a ling trip to a land unknown to Ponykind. Following her return, she began to hang out with a royal guard, Flash Sentry. They spent time together, time that Comet Tail felt was his, he held great dislike towards Flash. One day he saw Flash flirting with Twilight in a seductive manner. The sight of it was more than Comet could take. He bucked Flash in the face and walked away, leaving Flash clutching his own broken nose and Twilight confused and shocked. Following his attack on Flash, Comet decided to go to the hills outside of ponyville to be alone. He wasn't alone for very long though, as Twilight had followed him there and demanded to know why Comet hit Flash, he could sense the anger in her voice. Comet Tail couldn't stand hearing her so angry at him, it brought the yellow unicorn to tears. He broke down crying right in front of Twilight. Twilight was taken back by Comet's sudden mood swing. What happened next surprised her even more. Comet confessed his feelings to her, telling her that she was the most beautiful pony he had ever seen and how she made his heart beat faster. Comet Tail continued to cry, expecting Tailight to hate him after what he did, to never want to be near him ever again. But instead, her response was a kiss. She grabbed Comet's head in her hooves and started to kiss the stallion. Comet Tail was surprised, but melted into her wonderful kiss. They broke for air, afterwhich Twilight spoke five words that made him happier than ever before. "I love you too Comet." Since that night they dated for three years. It was that very night, three years later where Comet proposed to Twilight, a proposal that Twilight immediately said yes to. Their wedding was huge, rivaling that of the famous Royal wedding between Princess Cadence and Shining Armor. They invited nearly everypony they knew to the ceremony. The reception was handled by the hyperactive Pinkie Pie and her not as hyper but still full of energy coltfriend Pokey Pierce. The reception lasted until late at night when the moon was high and the stars were their brightest. Both Twilight and Comet remembered it as the most magical night of their lives. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Comet Tail looked at the sleeping form of his wife as he reminisced about the past four years of marriage they had shared. Another thought popped into Comet Tail's head. What would hsppen to them next? Maybe foals. They have plenty of time for that. Comet Tail kissed Twilight on her forehead and rested his head onto hers. Comet slowly began to close his eyes, drifting into the same peaceful slumber as Twilight. They had alot of memories together, and they have plenty of time to make more of them. Author's Note This is a different story format than your probably used to. The style of writing for this one-shot was inspired by a Drawn To Life fanfic called "The Inventor's Son." Anyways, Happy Comet Tail Day!
