When Applebloom looks for the pony who's been stealing apple's from her family's farm, she find's something more.
Just trying something out, instead of her making friends with a pony or human, what if she made friend's with a monster?
just been toying with idea for a while and, POOF! this is what my thought's have manifested as...any way, without further ado, I present, Applebloom and the branch picker!

PART 1: The apple thief!
AN: i came up with this idea while listing to Cry read a creepy pasta called, "Mr widemouth", although i assure you this fic will NOT be like that...i just like the idea of a child befriending a monster...well...enjoy.

It was a nice warm summer's day on the apple family's farm, the bird's were singing, the tree's swayed a little in the nice warm breeze, everything was perfect...well, almost everything , a certain orange pony with a blond mane and a cowboy hat was fuming.

"Who in tarnation's been stealing our apple's!" AppleJack yelled in frustration, it was the third time this week that somepony or some thing had plucked one of the many apple tree's in the orchard bare, not a single apple remained on the tree. "I swear if i find the fella that's doin this im going to...im going to! hmmm...what WILL i do?" she thought as she rubbed her chin with one of her fore hoof's.
Meanwhile in a small tree house three young fillies' were planning a way to get their cutiemark's. the three fillies' were, Applebloom, Sweetebella and Scootaloo, three school fillies' with blank flanks. "Ah reckon we should try and help Pinkie bake, she love's to have fun!" Applebloom said with a small smile, "well i think we should go and help your sister find this apple thief, she's been a little up tight lately..." scootaloo said, "yeah...we could be cutimark crime stoppers!" Sweetebella cried, they then jumped in the air and yelled, "CUTIE MARK CRUSADER'S CRIME STOPPER'S!" before rushing out of the tree house and towards poor Applejack.

As Applejack stomped around the orchard looking for the thief, she heard the sound of hoof's approaching, no wait, three set's of hoof's. "oh you got to be kidding me..." she sighed before being tackled by three small fillies', "hey big sis, were gonna help ya find the apple thief!" her younger sister yelled with glee, "oh joy..." Applejack sighed before standing up and dusting herself off, "what do you three trouble maker's want?" she said with a small smile, "we want to help you find the thief!" Scootaloo said, then, the three children started to spread out and look for the thief, they searched in bushes and under rock's, nothing.
the four of them spent the rest of their day looking for the thief but kept finding nothing, "well shuck's...this darn thief is like a ghost! invisible!" Applebloom groaned, "well their not going to be out hear holding a sign saying "hey their i stole your apples!" are they?" scootaloo said and chuckled, she was indeed, a very funny filly, or that's what she was thinking before an apple fell onto her head.

once the day ended and Applebloom's friend's returned to the small town of ponyville, Applejack and Applebloom headed inside, "ah cant believe we didn't find that varmint! we were searching high and low!" Applebloom said with a loud sigh, "well, i put some trap's up to catch the thief if it's an animal, if that's the case then we could give it to Fluttershy to take care of..." Applejack grunted before heading to her room. "an animal eh? hmmm..." Applebloom said before rubbing her front hooves' together and grinning, "Ah think it's time for a night inve-inves-investigation? ah what ever..." she thought before grabbing a lantern and heading out into the night.

The farm looked like a whole new place at night, the tree's looked taller and a little bit creepy, the bird's were replaced with the occasional bat, and owl's hooted their eerie hoot's into the cool night air. As Applebloom wandered deeper into the orchard, she started to notice that when ever she stepped on a leaf or twig, she would jump out of her fur, "geez...get it together Applebloom, you can do this, your a cutie mark crusader!" she thought while trembling slightly.

SNAP!

Applebloom stood dead still, she heard something loud, like when a nut cracker bust open a chest nut, but instead of a nut, it sounded like a piece of wood being snapped across metal. "he-hello? anypony their?" she asked, hoping for her sister or brother to reply, nothing. "this was a bad idea..." she thought and turned around, what she saw made her stop like she had seen one of the princess in her backyard, about a stone's throw away from her was a tall, grey creature, it's bat like ear's pointing upwards, it's large eye's locked with Applebloom's, the creature had a short snout with a circular mouth filled with small teeth, "mo-mo-mo-mo" she stuttered, "monster..." she said before fainting.

{APPLEBLOOM AND THE BRANCH PICKER}

{Part 2: gentle giant.}
Applebloom awoke with a jolt, she looked around wildly and rubbed her eye's, she appeard to be in some sort of cave, no, not a cave, more like an animal's burrow, root's hung from the ceiling and a large spider scutteld around the floor. "oh no..." she whimperd, the burrow was dimly lit by her lamp which was almost out now, she could make out that the wall's, floor and celling seemed to be made of dirt, a small clump of twig's and soft plant's was in one corner, it must of been some sort of nest,a pile of what seemed to be apple's and apple core's lay beside it.

"so this where our apple's have been goin!" she gasped and gave herself a metle yell of victory. It was the that she noticed three tunnle's, each going off in a differnt direction, "oh boy...lost under ground...what a fun way to spend my day...or night...what ever..." she thought, a small grunt brought her attention back to the nest, a large grey shape was riseing out of it, "oh celestia help me!" she whisperd, the creture's ear's shot up and it looked right at her, she then sqwinted at the creture, she noticed it's eye's insted of being full of anger or hate, had a soft and gentle look, "h-hi their big guy..." Applebloom said carefully and took a step forward, the creture gave a small chirp in reply and rised out of the nest and took one stride toward's her.

"woah...your huge!" she said and smiled up at the creture, it was as tall as celestia, it then lowerd down and sat down infront of her, "so...your not gonna eat me?" she asked, the creture gave a curious chirp and nudged her with it's head, "stedy their partner, watch the mane!" Applebloom said with a giggle. *grumble*. the creture looked down at Applebloom who had patted her stomach with one of her front hoove's, "gee ah sure am hungry..." she thought, *thud*.
Applebloom looked down at the apple that landed infront of her, the creture nudged it towards her and gave a small chirp, "well thanks!" she said before biteing into the sweet red apple, "yah know what?" she said between bite's, "yer not that bad for a monster!"
after what felt like an hour the creture picked up applebloom and placed her on it's back, she sat their and looked at the many long hair's sticking out of it's back, they were bigger then the rest of his fur and seemed to vibrate and twitch, the creture then hunched down and crawled into one of the tunnle's, moveing at a steady pace and going up.
The cool night air washed over them both as they exited the tunnle, they emerged into a small clump of brush which hid the tunnle from sight, "so this is why we couldent find ya!" she thought, then the creture started moveing toward's her home, "hey, yah know where the farm is? you must of been hear for a while..." she said to the creture which gave a happy chirp in reply.

once they reached the farmhouse the sky was turning a light blue, Applebloom gave a loud yawn, the creture then reached up onto it's back and picked her up, then it placed her on the grass, "your a gentle giant really!" she said with a giggle, "im going to call you...Lenis!" she said and gave one of his long arms a hug, Lenis gave a happy chirp and lowerd his head down and nudged her head.
Applebloom then had an idea, "hey Lenis, you wanna stay in my house? it's better then that burrow you have!", Lenis looked at her, a puzzeld look on his face, "oh right...ya cant understand me...hmmm..." she said and pulled him toward's the farm house.

Applebloom slowly opend the door, carefull not to make a noise so she wouldent wake her family, "ok lenis...come in, but be VERY carefull..." she whisperd while pulling on one of his long arm's, lenis bent down to fit into the entrance and had to hunch over to beable to fit inside the house, Lenis made a loud chirp of amusement, "shhhh!" Applebloom hissed.
"Who's down their?" a groggy voice said from upstair's, hoofsteps could be heard, "oh no, um...Lenis! hide some where!" she said and coverd her eye's to show him what she ment, Lenis nodded. Applejack walked into the hallway and stoped dead, "a-a-a applebloom...w-what's th-that?" she stutterd, Applebloom slowly turned around and facehoofed, Lenis had his hand's over his eye's and was makeing low sounding chirp's, he seemed to think that she just wanted him to cover his eye's, not hide.
"oh boy..." was all Applebloom said.
