The Canterlot Adventures: A Daniel Side Story
The train chugged along as Daniel, Ditzy, and Gilda, all thought to themselves. It wouldn't be long before they got to Canterlot. Daniel pulled out the letter they had received from the princesses, and read it again.
Dear Alicorn Herd,
I realize that for a while now, you have been idle, and have not been doing much training. All is at peace in Ponyville, save for the occasional event. I would now like the three of you to move into the castle here, and help rid the streets of Canterlot of crime.
While you stay, you all may visit places you wish to go, and have free time to do what you wish, as long as you are always there to lend a hand to the guards and get rid of criminals. Also, while you stay at the castle, you will be allowed to access any part of it, even if it be forbidden, restricted, or closed off to the general public.
Also, I would like you to begin sending my sister and me letters whenever you discover anything about yourselves, or those around you.
As you may know, I cannot force you to do anything, for Daniel has more power than I, but I strongly recommend that you come soon.

A whistle blew loudly, and the train went into the first tunnel in the large mountain that Canterlot was on top of. Soon they would arrive at the most well known city in all of Equestria. Gilda turned to face the other. Two, and smiled slightly. "This is going to be so awesome," she said cooly.
"Yeah, it will be nice to have a break from Ponyville for a while," Ditzy agreed.
"Remember, Celestia asked to come to Canterlot for a job, and we should do it," Daniel said seriously. "But I guess it is better than some giant adventure in a foreign country where we learn about some ancient enemy or something," he finished off in a more chipper tone. It was quiet for a few moments.
"So, if I may ask, how did you two meet?" Gilda asked. Daniel and Ditzy both smiled at this.
"Weren't you there? No, I don't think you were. Believe it or not, you were like the third or fourth person I met in Equestria. Well, actually, she was the first thing I ever saw when I woke up here. Her eyes, those beautiful eyes. Yeah. She didn't trust me at all at first. Also, I'm not sure if I ever want to go near apple pie again." Daniel said laughing. Ditzy shared in the laugh.
"What? Why pie?" Gilda asked.
"That, my Griffin friend, is a long story, that you were part of. let's just say pie is what truly started my change into an alicorn."
"Uh, sure whatever."
"And what do you mean beautiful eyes? Is that a wisecrack?" Ditzy said, looking at the floor. (sort of).
"Wisecrack? No, I mean your eyes are beautiful. Why would you think I would make a wisecrack about your eyes? Diane Ditzena Doo, look at me." Daniel's tone had changed dramatically from chipper, to dead serious once more. Ditzy lifted her head to face Daniel.
"Okay, let me get this into your head. your eyes are wonderful. They are deep golden pools of memories. Every time I look at you, I see a happy, slightly derpish mare who knows how to be free, but your eyes. Your eyes tell the truth." Daniel said. The cabin had grown extremely quiet, with both Ditzy and Gilda looking at Daniel with awe.
The boy had seemed to grow an extra four inches at that exact moment, looking into Ditzy's eyes. His eyes softened.
"And also, I've never seen you so hurt by an insult. Which is especially weird since it wasn't an insult at all. Why now?" Daniel asked gently.
"Because--" The train came to a stop, and Ditzy was interrupted by the intercom.
"Remember to gather your belongings, and have yourself a good time in Canterlot. We know that Train Penguin is your only choice, but we're still glad you chose us." The male voice said as the group made their own way out of the train.
