It's just the park; you know that the Lycan in you wants to run!" "Vinyl, how many times must I repeat? I'm not a dog........., but run you say? Isn't that going to look awfully suspicious?" "Umm, it’s like one in the morning! Who, besides the two of us, would be out here?" Looking around, Octavia could see nothing but trees and the moon, casting its warm glow on the two. It had been two months since the attack on the supernatural in Equestria. Things had died down and just as Vinyl promised, she had quit her wet work and only focused on her two loves in life: Octavia and wubs. Octavia learned to control her inner Lycan and also learned to love her other side. The two still lived together and became even more famous by fusing their passions together to make the world only and best "classical dubstep". The changes that occurred only brought them closer together; sharing the oddity of being different. "I guess you're right, we are the only ones around....so last one to that tree over there is a rotten artist!," she snickered. "Oh, you are soooo going down! You may be a dog, but everypony knows that vampires are faster! On three?" "One. Two. THREE!" Both ponies took off like rockets towards the large oak at the end of the park. Octavia took the lead early on and held on to it up until the last fifty meters. Vinyl had apparently been holding back and was now taking the lead! As the tree's trunk became larger and larger, they were neck and neck. As the dust cleared around them, both had their hooves firmly planted in the trunk. "Well I guess I won!” gloated Vinyl. "How in the name of Celestia did YOU come up with that ruling!?!" stammered Octavia. "Trust me; vampires are wayy faster than Lycans. It’s a scientific fact!" The sound of Octavia's eye-rolling was almost audible. What was more audible though, was the sound of a muffled cough. Both ponies heard this faint noise and immediately tensed up. Using her better-than-average hearing, Vinyl identified the location of the noise and strained to see who or what was there. Even with her great vision, she couldn’t see what had mad the noise, but she didn’t have too. A pair of electric blue, almost serpent like eyes appeared and began to blink. “WHO GOES THERE?” yelled Vinyl. Her fangs sprang out and she lunged for the pair of eyes. She connected with a body and then threw it down from the branch it was lying on. The shape hit the ground with a satisfying thud. The shape was now in the moonlight and both Vinyl and Octavia could see that it was indeed a pony; a simple unicorn with a black body and piercing blue eyes. It tried to get back on all fours, but Octavia was already there, with her hoof on the unicorns’ neck, ready to stomp down if she needed to. “TELL US WHO YOU ARE OR I CRUSH YOUR WINDPIPE” threatened Octavia, with a hint of fear. “Please…remove your hoof.” strained a male voice. “Let up enough so he can speak, but not enough so he thinks he’s free Octavia. I don’t think we can trust him.” “I’ve never been free. Made to walk alone, made to live even if I don’t want to. If you could crush my windpipe, I would be the happiest pony in Equestria.” Both Vinyl and Octavia were taken aback. This mysterious unicorn was either crazy or had a death wish. Did he know what they were or the power both of them had? Vinyl knew the situation could elevate from here and decided to question the pony to see what he wanted. “Why were you in the tree spying on us?” she asked. “I don’t think spying is the word. Spying implies I’m trying to learn a secret, which I’m not. I know what both of you are, who you are, what you like. I only watch you two to keep me sane. Your love and friendship is the last thing I have to feel in this miserable existence of a life.” “You..you…you know everything about us? Why? Who are you?” frantically asked Octavia. “I….don’t know who I am. I only know painful memories of my life. I don’t know my parents, I don’t know my home, I am…alone. It is for that reason I know everything about you two. I learned your lives to try to remember what hope and love is. Your cello brings back sad memories and makes me remember, while Vinyl’s makes me numb and want to forget. I wish I could end my pain, but my suffering shall be eternal.” “You make it sound as though you can’t die. If this life is too much for you then why not jump out of the tree you were in?” pondered Vinyl. Octavia looked at Vinyl with a pained expression. She knew that death was a fear for both of them and wondered why this strange pony was so focused on it. “Oh, pardon my rudeness, I haven’t shown you my true appearance.” said the black pony. He then removed his unseen jacket and mud from his hair. What Octavia and Vinyl saw next took the breath right out of them.  The electric blue streaks in his mane became visible and once he removed his jacket, his midnight black wings spread; longing for space to spread out. “My name is Hi-Res…and I can’t die of my own accord……which is why I need you two.”
