There was a slight breeze, bringing the scent of fresh flowers and baked goods through Sweet Pea's open windows. "Is there anything that could go wrong today? I mean really, other than the occasional rabbit stampede, it seems like nothing ever goes wrong." She yawned, rising from her down-feather bed. Grabbing her glasses from her night stand, she blinked to become aware of her surroundings. Though, this did not prevent her from fumbling over her hooves and tripping down the stairs. After checking for any serious injuries, she continued through her morning routine. Grabbing toast and a freshly brewed cup of tea, she sat down and began to contemplate the meaning of the universe. About five minutes into her thoughts and a rather loud BANG and CRASH shook her from the day dream. "Sweet Luna! What in Equestria was that?" Sweet Pea jumped from her dining room chair and quickly rushed next door, from where the sound had originated. 'Those Damned scientist, at it again with their experiments.' She thought to herself with quite a grump. It was usually very hard to get Sweat Pea in a ruffle, but when she was, she was determined to get to the bottom of it. Sweet Pea waited at the doorstep for a few minutes, thinking of the different things these ponies could have come up with. 'Electric something or other, chemicals, or maybe magic...ah who gives a hoot, I'm tired of this.' The door opened and one of the scientist, Charles, happily greeted Sweet Pea. "What can I do for you today sugar-snap?" He asked as if he had no idea the previous noise had occurred. 'I always hated that nick name' "Did you not hear the disturbing noise that came from your house? It shook my morning tea right out of my hooves!" She said, pushing Charles back through the doorway. "Well um, you see, Erwin and I had been working on this for sometime" He moved out of the way for Sweet Pea, inviting her in. "We've been experimenting on the affects of Caesium. We mixed in the wrong element and BLAM." Charles explained. As he went on, Sweet Pea lost interest. "Yeah yeah" She interrupted "Just don't let it happen again, I worry for your safety sometimes." It was then, she saw a new pony, helping to clean up. His mane was pink and purple that criss-crossed over his face in a shaggy fashion. A unicorn's horn separating a strand of pink from a strand of purple. His coat, a dull purple or gray, she couldn't quite make out the color. His blue eyes caught her attention and she realized she was starring. "Oh, I'm sorry. I don't believe I've seen you before. I'm Sweet Pea, what's your name?" She smiled in a friendly manor. The station returned the smile and greeted her. "My name is Digibrony, I live in the room upstairs. I'm kind of a recluse so that could explain why you haven't seen much of me." 'Well this is going smoothly. He seems pretty cool, QUICK make him laugh!' "Eh..so you live with these two? How can you stand the noise?" She chuckled to herself "Well, it's not so bad after the millionth explosion." The two laughed. "So how about you come over for lunch, new neighbor?" She asked, trying not to come on too strong. "I'd love to! I'll see if I can get a break from these two." Meanwhile Charles and Erwin smiled at them from behind the kitchen doorway. They looked at each other and said "Looks like friendship is in bloom" //-------------------------------------------------------// First Impressions //-------------------------------------------------------// First Impressions That afternoon, the two acquaintances discussed trivial matters over lunch. "And well, now I'm here" Sweet Pea said, finishing up a rather lengthy story of how she came to Ponyville. "I talk a lot sorry." "It's alright, honestly I enjoy listening to other people's stories." Digibrony smiled, reassuring her that she had nothing to apologize for. "Well I came here a few years ago and well, it might sound crazy but I've been doing a lot of research about humans" He said, unsure of Sweet Pea's reaction. "Oh my, you sound like my friend Lyra, she's completely fascinated by that stuff. She's tried to get me into it and it's pretty cool but there isn't any real conclusive proof they exist. Then again that's just my opinion, if you like it then good for you" She smiled and drank her calming tea. The awkward silence reared its ugly head around the corner and swooped in to shadow Digibrony and Sweet Pea.'Shit. What do I do now? Gotta think of something before he get's tired of me' She thought, her eyes darting around thinking of something to say. "Is something wrong?" Digibrony asked, leaning in to get her attention. "SLUGS HAVE FOUR NOSES!" Sweet Pea shouted out of sheer panic. She didn't notice, but she had lunged forward to shout and bumped noses with Digibrony. Both wide-eyed and staring, he backed up a bit to sit comfortably in his chair. "I'm so sorry about that...." She said, blushing a deep maroon. 'I could just die right now. Dead. I'm dead, there's NO WAY he's gonna consider me a friend now.' Suddenly, he began to laugh. "Well that's quite the fact. You're like a snapple!" "A what?""Oh....nothing." They both chuckled and smiled. 'That could've gone better, but at least I got him laughing.'"I kind of just do that. I'll space out and try to think of something to say but if somepony tries to get my attention I'll shout out the first thing that comes to my mind. It's kind of annoying." Sweet Pea said, looking down at her now half empty cup. He smiled at her and got her to look up. "That's ok. It's kind of nice to see that somepony tries so hard to make a good first impression." The two ponies spend a good 3 hours chatting it up, taking turns trying to make the other laugh. "And then I said 'I had a WHALE of a time!" The two laughed and laughed, finally calming down enough to realize the time. "Look at that, nearly 6 and it's already getting dark." Digibrony stretched and got up from his seat. "Are you leaving so soon?" "Well yeah, it's late and I got some things to do for the egg-heads back home." Sweet Pea frowned. "Well if you're up later, you can stop buy for star gazing. I'm a bit of a night owl so I'm up almost all night." He smiled "Yeah sure." He let himself out of her house and as soon as he was out of hearing range Sweet Pea squealed. "Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh! Does he like me? I think he does. We're friends at least! OOOOHHHHOHOHOHOH!" She rolled around on her diningroom floor like a filly on Heart-Warming morning. Rushing upstairs she got her telescope ready and awed at the beauty of the oncoming twilight.
