A unicorn walked up a hill and found what he was looking for, Ponyville. “So, this is it huh, where my new beginning starts”, said the unicorn looking down at the town. The unicorn was midnight black, with a crimson red mane and tail. The mane was short with the front going up. The tail was cut short as well. His eyes were crimson, which seemed to glow when you see him happy. Those eyes are hidden behind his glasses that were a dark red. He wore a purple, striped shirt with a pocket in the front. The only thing that seemed to be missing was his cutie mark. He is 16 and still hasn’t found his talent yet and wanted to find it in Ponyville since where he last lived; he had… a complicated life. “I hope they don’t judge me about how I look”, he muttered. He then trotted down the hill to his new life.
He trotted through the entrance of the town. He liked it a lot better than where he lived; he saw other ponies stare at him, but he expected that since he didn’t have a cutie mark. He was happy none of them called attention toward him or screamed and ran away. He kept trotting around town, trying to find the mayor’s office when all of a sudden; a pink pony was in his face. He backed up to try to get some space between them. “Hi, I’m Pinkie Pie, who are you”, asked Pinkie Pie. “Um… I’m-”, he tried to sat his name but Pinkie Pie kept bouncing around him, asking questions and sometimes singing random little songs. He was about to have a panic attack, but then he heard another pony say, “Pinkie Pie, you’re scaring the poor stallion.” The black pony looked over Pinkie Pie and saw a lavender unicorn. She looked very smart and was an expert with magic. Pinkie Pie looked at her and said, “I’m sorry Twilight, but that’s how I am though, I love to know everypony in Ponyville, and I’ve never seen this pony before, so I wanted to know him”, Pinkie Pie said. He had to admit, this pony did seem very energetic and friendly. Twilight then walked next to Pinkie and said, “Anyways, hi, I’m Twilight and welcome to Ponyville, what’s your name”, asked Twilight in a calm voice. The black pony smiled and said, “I’m Dusk, I’m glad everyone I’ve seen so far didn’t freak out from how I look considering I do look a little scary”. Twilight smiled and said, “I’m glad you like Ponyville, it’s a great town, it’s where I’ve grown an understanding of friendship and made 5 best friends, one of them right here”, nodding her head toward Pinkie Pie, who had a big grin on her face. “I can see why you would want her as a friend; she is definitely a very interesting pony”, Dusk said. “I also throw great parties, I should throw you a welcome party”, Pinkie said. “Um, I’m not much of a-”, before Dusk could finish what he was about to say, Pinkie Pie ran off. Twilight smiled and said, “That’s Pinkie for you, she loves throwing parties”. Dusk only nodded and fixed his glasses, “Anyways, do you know where the mayor’s office is; I’ve been trying to find it, but I’m not good with directions”, he said. “Of course, just follow me; I’ll get you there in no time”, Twilight said.
Dusk and Twilight walked through Ponyville until they got to the mayor’s building. Dusk turned around when he got to the front door, “Thanks for escorting me, I appreciate it”, he said. “No problem, I wish I could stay and help you find your house, but I have to get home and check how Spike is doing organizing the books I ordered”, Twilight said. “Spike” Dusk asked. “He’s a baby dragon who’s my number one assistant, anyways, I can give you a tour of the town tomorrow” Twilight said. “That would be nice, thanks again Twilight”, Dusk said. With that, Twilight said, “Your welcome”, and went back home. Dusk walked into the building and saw a stallion earth pony in the front working on papers. Dusk blushed a little when he saw the stallion. The stallion was light orange with his mane short and was slightly covering his left eye. The mane was the color indigo as well as his tail, which was long. He had wire glasses on with the sides being sliver. Behind the lenses was deep blue eyes very focus on his work. Dusk shook his head and walked up to the desk and said, “Um, hello sir, I’m Dusk and I was wondering if I could see the mayor to get the key to my new home.” The stallion looked up and said, “I’m sorry Mr. Dusk, but the mayor is busy at the moment, but she did leave me with the key to your house.” He picked up the keys and gave them to Dusk, who took them quickly in his teeth and put it in his pocket, blushing even more now. “His voice is so deep, yet soothing” Dusk thought. The stallion asked, “Are you alright sir?” “Oh, um, yes, I have been walking through town and got lost once I got here, thanks for your concern”, Dusk said. “Steward”, the stallion said. “What?” Dusk asked. “That’s my name; if you ever need help figuring out where to go, ask me”, Steward said, working on his papers before him. “Um, thanks, I’ll go to my house now, nice to meet you Steward”, Dusk said and walked out of the building. Dusk closed his eyes after walking out the building to calm his beating heart. “Calm down Dusk, I don’t want to make enemies, I want to make friends, JUST friends”, he thought to himself. When he opened his eyes, he saw it was sundown. “I better get to my new home and tell my parents they can send my stuff here now”, Dusk thought.
After walking a bit, he found his house right as it turned night. It was like the other houses in Ponyville; nice, simple, and just the right size for him. He pulled out the key from his pocket and unlocked the door. As soon as he opened the door, confetti and balloons came out of the door and got pulled in by Pinkie Pie. “I told you I would throw you a welcome party and I did just that”, she said with a smile on her face. Dusk smiled seeing all the other stallions and mares that came to the party. “You definitely did, and I thank you very much; no one has ever thrown a party for me before”, Dusk said. Pinkie Pie had a giant grin on her face when Dusk said that, “I’m glad I can be the first pony to throw a party for you then”, she said. With that, she hopped off to check on the guest. Dusk decided to go to the refreshment table since he was hungry and thirsty since his last meal was outside Ponyville. When he got to it, he saw Steward talking to a few mares at a table nearby the refreshment table. Dusk blushed a bit when he saw Steward was a bit fit; considering he seemed to work at the desk a lot. Dusk shook his head and quickly grabbed a plate with his teeth and put a cupcake on it and a glass of punch. One of the mares saw him though and yelled over the music, “Oh, you must be the pony who Pinky threw this welcome party for, come over here and talk with us”. All the ponies looked at him and Dusk saw Steward was smiling at him. Dusk tried hiding his blush and trotted over to them. Dusk put his plate on the table and sat next to Steward and a white mare with a very little blue mane and tail. “Hi, um, how did you know that this party was for me”, Dusk asked the pony that called him over. The pony, which was a Pegasus, was a dark orange with a light yellow mane said, “Well one, I’ve never seen you before in Ponyville; and two, I heard a bit about you from my brother to recognize you.” Dusk’s eyes went a little wide and looked at Steward; who was looking at his sister with a bit of annoyance and said, “Well, I wanted you to be able to recognize him when you deliver mail so you don’t get the mail mixed up with the wrong pony again Jasmine”. Dusk thought he saw a slight blush on Steward’s face, but decided it was his imagination and drank a bit of punch. Jasmine rolled her eyes and said, “Oh whatever that was only like two times I did that”. “More like 20”, the mare next to Dusk giggled; the others laughing too in good humor; Jasmine even laughed a little. “Oh be quiet Bubbles” Jasmine said still giggling a bit. For the rest of the party, Dusk talked with the ponies at the table and was having fun… until one of them asked, “So why don’t you have a cutie mark”? It became silent at the table and everypony looked at him. Dusk just sat there, shaking a little and pupils dilated. Steward put a hoof on Dusk’s shoulder and asked, “Are you ok Dusk, you’re shaking like a leaf”. His voice snapped Dusk out of his trance and mumbled, “Um… yeah, yeah, I’m… I’m just tired that’s all; I’m going to bed now, you ponies enjoy the rest of the party and night”. Before anypony could say anything, Dusk galloped to his new bedroom upstairs. He quickly closed the door behind him and locked it. He went to his bed and cried in it. “Why did I have to act like that in front of them, especially Steward? I looked like a child and I embarrassed myself. I have to figure out what my cutie mark is by the end of the month or I’m going to be miserable for the rest of my life”, Dusk thought. After a bit, he fell to sleep in his new home.
