Chapters Night is back
Chapter one – the Truth
Night Dash was walking through the halls of the Canterlot castle. It was so quiet you could hear the clip clop of his hooves and his armor pates moving on his body. He was off his duty, so he wasn’t wearing his helmet anymore. His black rainbow main hung over his black fur and grey body tattoos. His head was lowered and he was grumbling something about kicking princess' plot. He kept thinking about the same thing that he didn’t even notice his marefriend Frost, who was trotting towards him.
She was wearing her Elite Guard armor, which was black as Night's fur. Her ice blue fur showed up threw her armor. she wasn't wearing her helmet eather, so her black and grey mane hung free. Night collided with Frost’s head. "Why don’t you watch where are you going?!" said Night coldly to his marefriend. She tossed her mane at him and gave him a death stair, which she could easly back up.
Frost yelled back. "Me? Why don’t YOU watch where you're going Night?" She spat out his name.
Night raised his hoof and struck his marefriend, slamming her to the ground. "I'm not in the mood
Frost, so just buck off!" Night yelled from the depth of his lungs. He walked away when Frost slammed him. Night didn’t fall down like she did. He took a few steps back and then threw himself at Frost. They spared before but this was different. This was no hold bars. They kept throwing gabs at each other, until Frost flew up and slammed Night with her body going about 102 miles per hour. That knocked him onto his plot fast. Frost pinned him to the ground with a freeze poison. Night was fighting it and makeing some progress, so Frost layed on top of him.
Night struggled, but failed to get up. "Ok Night, are you now going to tell me what your deal is?
You've never hit me like that, so what’s going on?"
Night tried to get free again, but he couldn’t. "You wouldn’t understand! You have your family
here!"
Frost was confused. "Night, what are you talking about? You're the only child, right?"
Night shook his head. Frost thought that he was crying, but she couldn’t tell because of the posion. "No, I have a sister," Night said in a whisper. He wasn’t angry anymore. He was sad and even sobbed. "For eight years Frost! Eight bucking years! I haven’t seen her for so long," now he was crying. "I miss her so much! Eight birthdays! Eight Hearts Warming days! Eight Hearts and Hooves days! Eight Nightmare Nights to go and make some pranks with he-"
Frost put hoof on his mouth. Her sea blue eyes were filled with sorrow for the stallion under her. She spoke in the sweetest voice he has ever heard. "It's ok Night. I'm here." Frost leaned in to kiss the stallion she loves.
The kiss was broken by a unicorn that looked just like Frost but the only difference was gender. He cleared his throat. "Night I know you love my sister, but for first, she's on duty and second-" He was cut off by Night's sobs. "Wait Night, are you crying?" He heard a few more sobs that confirmed it. Frost's brother began laughing. "Sweet Celestia, you're crying!" Frost threw a knock back posion at him. As the poison states it knocks you back... about 30 feet.
She looked back at Night and kissed him on the cheek. "I promise you Night, you will see her again." The stallion trots back up to them. Frost looks at her brother. "Get out of here Ice!"
"Wait," he held up a hoof. "I can help you with your sister."
Night gave him look. "What do you mean Ice?"
Ice shifted himself closer to them until he spoke up. "I was called to Princess Celestia to give her these." Ice opened his saddle back and pulled out letters. He put each one in front of Night.
Night became angry again. "These... These are my letters to Rainbow!" he growled.
Ice rubbed the back of his neck. "I was under orders to take all of your letters to her! I'm sorry Night. I was under orders," he added with scared tone.
"Frost, let me go!" Night growled even stronger. Frost did as he asked and removed effect of the posion. He got to his hooves and started trotting. "Thanks, now I need to go and 'talk' to the princess." The two followed Night. It felt like they were walking forever. The two siblings didn’t dare to speak. They never saw Night angered like this. He was always the cool laid stallion when he was off duty, and funny, but serous on duty. Night stopped in front of the throne room. He stood there
for a few seconds, then took a deep breath and opened the door.
.......................
Celestia was reading over a report when Night rushed in through the door. "We need to talk!" Nig ht yelled. He walked up to the princess not even bowing. The royal Guards stood there in shock of the disrespect he was giving to the princess.
She put the paper down and stared at Night. "And what do we need to talk about?" Celestia asked coldly raising her brow.
Night motioned for phantom. "You stole every letter from Rainbow Dash. They were addressed for me, her brother!" Night stomped a hoof.
"I told you communication with the ones you love is dangerous," she stated with unchanged expression.
Night put a hoof on his throat, searching for his dog tags. "If that’s the way it has to be..." He ripped the tags from his neck. "I quit the Elite guard!" Night threw the tags under Celestia's feet and turned away followed by Frost.
"Wait!" Celestia said. She levitated the dog tags over to him. "You have 48 hours with her. Don’t
waste them." Night nodded while Celestia put his tags back on him. "Frost you will go with him to
make sure that he says nothing about the Elite Guard." Frost nodded and the two left to castle.
Chapter two – Hatred
After The three Elites left Celestia she sighed and raised a hoof to her nosterals. The three most deadly and most loyal of all of her soldiers in Equestria just told her to let them do this or go buck yourself. She sighed again and levitated a piece of paper and a quill to her. She began writing a letter.
‘Dear Twilight Sparkle,
Two Soldiers of the Elite Guard, named Night Dash and Frost, are coming to Ponyville. The reason of their visit is because Night Dash is Rainbow Dash's big brother. I forbade him, seeing her, but he wasn’t listening to me. So I gave him permission to see Rainbow Dash. He is not allowed to say anything about where he was for the past eight years. Night Dash will be easy to spot. He has black coat with grey body tattoos and a black rainbow mane. His wings are also bigger than wings of most stallions because of a genetic defect. This is a matter of national secret my friend, so please stop him from telling her anything.
Your friend Celestia.’
Celestia rolled up the letter and put a royal seal on it. A golden magical aurora consumed the letter. She sighed and hoped that twilight will listen to her warning. One of the guards came up to her. "Ma'am! Not to interfere, but if I said the things he said you would have thrown me in the dungeon?" With the princess of the sun gazing upon him, he quickly regretted asking the question. Celestia stares at the stallion for a long time. The stallion started to sweat under the gaze of the princess of the sun but holds his ground.
Celestia lightly laughed. "No matter where I put him. That stallion will find a way to see his sister. Even if he would be on the moon, he could find a way." Celestia looked out the window remembering the last time Night Dash lost his temper. She shutters at the memory of Night almost destroying castle in Saddle Arabia, just because he thought that Frost was raped and beat by the prince of the country. The guard went back to his post and Day court began.
..................
One of the perks of being an Elite guard is that each guard gets his own room. Night entered his room with Frost to gather few things. His room was full of weapons, books and pictures of loved ones. He looked at one picture of Rainbow Dash as a filly. It was right before Night left for early training and right before Rainbow left for summer flight. Night grabbed his saddle bag and threw in his Knifes, a folding dagger and his uniform. He was getting ready to leave when he stopped at the door. "Hang on I forgot something. Go and get your stuff, I'll meet you at the front door," said Night to his marefriend. Frost nodded and left.
Night trotted over to his night stand. He moved a few things around in it and pulled a half inch three ring binder. He put it in his saddle bag and trotted back to meet Frost.
He found Frost with two other pegasi. She was arguing with the two as Night walked over. The two pegasi were white stallions with golden Royal Guard armors on. Night walked up next to Frost, but said nothing... yet. "Ma'am, like my colleague said, we have been ordered by Princess Celestia to escort you to Ponyville." That was all Night needed to hear, but let Frost speak.
"And I told you that we don’t need to be escorted!" Frost flipped her mane at them. It was clear that she has been arguing with them for a while. There were red marks on her cheek and sweat was running down her forehead. Night would have thought she looked hot if it weren’t for the Royal guards.
Night finally started to speak. "As my friend here said we don’t need to be escorted by you. Now move or I will make our way!" Night slammed a hoof on the ground. The guard took a defensive stance and Night took an offensive stance. Both ponies staring at the other. Not one was going to give up.
The guard snorted at Night. "I don’t want to hurt you but if I will have to, I will. Now let’s go!" He motioned to a carriage prepared for them. Frost looked at the other guard for help. She new once Night got like this there was no stopping him. The other guard shook his head and took a stance towards Night. Frost sighs and facehoofs. She knew this wasn’t going to end well.
Night just shook his head. "I’ve warned you." Night hoofed one in the chest, shattering his chest plate and sending him straight to the ground. He bucked the other one in the face. Not as hard as he hit the last one but still hard enough to send him to the ground gasping for air. Frost gave Night a look that said 'really?' Night just stood there with an innocent look.
Frost just kept giving him that look. "What... You would have done the same thing," said Night to Frost, who was just shrugging. "Come on," Night took to the sky. "I want to see my sister!" Frost smiled and followed him. A thought crept into Frost's mind. She thought. 'What if his sister will hate him for being gone so long.' She keeps the thought at bay for now, but she knew that she had to bring it up soon.
....................
The Golden Oaks library was quiet. But that was going to change soon. Twilight was waiting for Rainbow dash. She told her to come there before going to Sugarcube Corner for a "Personal" gift she had for her fillyfriend. She was reading a book about griffon warfare. She didn’t want to, but Celestia forced her. She said that it had something to do with knowing your enemy. She did like reading about how the griffons were once a peaceful race, but they was corrupted with hate and greed.
She just got to the chapter about weapons and armor when Spike came in with a letter from Celestia. Twilight took the letter and thanked Spike. She quickly read the letter. She calmly put the letter down and then she turned into a fire pony. "WHAT THE BUCK ARE YOU THINKING CELESTIA!" The volume of that made most ponies in town opens their windows, just looking around to find out what woke them up so early.
Twilight turned to Spike who was in his pillow armor. "Uh Twilight, your book is on fire." Spike pointed at her desk.
Twilight quickly put out the fire and turned back to Spike. "Spike, take a letter. I want everything about this Night Dash." Spike took a quick letter and sent it. Moments later a stack of files came back all labelled Night Dash. Twilight put them on her bed and began reading them, while Spike started fixing the broken glass that Twilight's voice destroyed.
...................
Night and Frost landed just outside of Ponyvile. It was still early in the morning so nopony would be up yet. Night liked it that way because a stallion with body tattoos and extremely large wings tends to stick out. Add on jet black armor and people would be afraid of him. He was trying to close his wings, but they would just fold half way due to his armor. He shifted around before giving up.
"Looks like you need to go to the blacksmith again," Frost pointed out. She smiled at Night who was making a really funny look. She just kept smiling at him. Night rolled his eyes and walked down the path to Ponyville. There was a chilling breeze passing the two. Despite her name, Frost hates the cold. Night like a good colt put a wing around Frost to shield her from the cold. She nuzzles up against him, but she couldn’t take off her mind his sister.
"What’s wrong?" Night asked. He has never seen Frost this way. She was always the girl who liked to have a fun time with him. Frost was trying to speak, but her words got caught in her thought.
"Well Night it... It’s just that, what if your sister hates you now?" Night was in shock because of what Frost just said. He stopped in the middle of the road. Frost was left behind him and his wing was taken off of her. She looked at him for a little bit before speaking again. "You know I might be right." Frost put a hoof on Night's shoulder. "It's been eight years Night, she might have thought that you’ve abandoned her."
Night closed his eyes and shook his head violently at that. He stopped shaking his head and opened his eyes. They were full of anger. He stared at his fillyfriend for what felt like ages. "... That’s not true Frost." His expiation turned fast. "Sh-she'll forgive me." Night eyes started to tear up. He rubbed his eyes and continued down the road. Frost followed him quietly. They were unaware to the multiple eyes watching them as they walked into town.
The made it to Ponyvile in under 15 minutes. Night was looking around the town for Rainbow Dash, but he couldn’t find her. Being gone for eight years, Night didn’t know where to start looking. He tried the flower shop first with no success. He then tried the sweets shop. He met nice, cream colored earth pony. But she hasn’t seen Rainbow dash in weeks due to a business trip to Manehatten. The last place Night tried was a bakery.
Night and Frost entered the bakery only, but they only met a Bubbly pink mare. She jumped out of nowhere in front of Night Dash. He was startled and fell to his plot. The pink mare helped him stand back up and began to talk like million words a minute. "Hi, I'm Pinkie Pie and this is the Sugarcube corner, one of the best bakeries in Equestria!" She stopped to take a very deep breath. "So what are your names guys? You know, I have a friend that has same mane like yours is. But hers has Rainbow colors." At that Night stopped Pinkie pie.
He held up his hoof. "Wait! Is your friend a cyan mare called Rainbow Dash?"
Pinkie nodded. "Yeah! How do you know her? Brother? Old coltfriend? Cousin-" She was cut off by Night again.
"I'm Night Dash and this is Frost." He motioned to his fillyfriend. "I'm Rainbow's big brother."
Pinkie's face lit up. "You’re Dashie's brother! That is so cool!" Pinkie put a hoof on her chin and the other hoof on her elbow and she slowed down her speech. "But she has never said anything about you before?" Night winced in pain. It wasn’t a physical pain. It was emotional. Frost might have been right. Rainbow Dash might hate him. Night looked at Pinkie with a pained expression.
"Thanks, can you tell me where she is right now?" Pinkie noted his sadden face. She put a hoof on his shoulder.
"I don’t know where she is right now, but she will be at the library later on today." She lifted up a cupcake. "I know Dashie has a good reason for not talking about you. Would you like a cupcake?" Night nods and took the cupcake. He has bitten the white body cupcake with red frosting and star sprinkles on top. He immediately perked up.
He turned to Frost and with mouth full of cupcake said. "Babe, you've got to try this!" Night held his half eaten cupcake out to her. She looks at it with a 'no' expression on her face.
Frost turns to the pink mare and asks. "Do you have one with blue icing on it?" The question didn’t faze Pinkie. Instead she picked up a blue cupcake and hoofed it to her. Frost took one bite of it and her eyes grew wide. She slowly chewed the pastry and swallowed. She turned to Pinkie, wide eyed in all. "Th-that was the b-best cupcake I ever had." She swallowed some saliva that was built up just thinking of the cupcake. "What is your secret?"
Pinkie thought for a second. "Hmmm..." Pinkie tapped her chin. "Sorry, that but it is a Pinkamena Diane Pie’s trade secret." Frost sighed. She wanted to make them for hers and Night's anniversary. Pinkie looked at her with a face that said 'still no'. They left the bakery after getting directions to the library, with a box full of the cupcakes. As they were walking Night kept getting strange looks. Parents pulled their kids closer to them afraid he might foalnapped them.
Night was unfazed by this because it happened more often than you would think. Almost everything about him was scary to most ponies. His fur was the first thing. Most ponies didn’t have black fur. And most of the ones who did were evil. Sombra, Nightmare moon, Queen Chrysalis, the Shadowbolts. The next thing was his tattoos. Most ponies with tattoos either were a zebra or had a criminal past. So Night looked like a thug. The only thing that wasn’t so scary about him, but still weird to most ponies, was his armor. It was as black as Luna's night. It had a crescent moon with a sun behind it signifying his Elite guard states. Night didn’t care. He got the tattoos because of some friends he lost. And the armor just looked bad as ass.
When they got to the library, there was a baby dragon fixing a window. Night started to stalk the dragon like a lion hunting its pray. The dragon hummed in a small tune when a black colt pounces on him. They rolled on the grass and Night held a knife at dragon’s throat. A purple alicorn came rushing out of the library and grabbed Night with her magic.
She held him upside down. "Who are you and why did you attack my friend?"
Night was slowly breaking free of the alicorn’s hold. "Stay out of this ma'am! That is a dangerous beast!" Night pointed a hoof at the dragon.
"Spike is not a dangerous beast! And do you know who I am?" The alicorn asked.
"I don’t ca-" Night was cut off by the alicorn extending her wings. A 'oh shit' came over Night's face as he realized he was talking right to princess Twilight Sparkle. He straightened up and saluted to Twilight. "Ma'am, lieutenant Night Dash!" Twilight looked at the stallion then at the mare he was with. Frost facehoofed at Night. Twilight blushed and put Night down. "Sorry. You must be Night Dash. I'm Twilight Sparkle." Twilight extended a hoof the stallion.
Night bowed at Twilight. "I have to apologize, ma'am. I’ve attacked you're friend without a cause." Frost facehoofed even harder.
Twilight blushed. "Could you please not bow... its kinda weird." Night got up and Twilight cleared her throat. "Now into business. You are my fillyfriend-" Night Cut her off.
"Wait." He held up his hoofs. "Is your fillyfriend Rainbow Dash?" Night walked in circles around Twilight.
Twilight looked worried. "Yes."
Night lowered his head, inspecting Twilight. "You haven’t used you status to use her?" Night growled. "Beat her, treat her like garbage?"
At that Twilight became angry. She flared her wings and stomped her hoof on the ground. "I have not!" she yelled. "I would never ever do that to Rainbow! I love her and she loves me and if you don’t like that you can just leave!"
Night stopped trotting. He got in Twilight face. Eye to eye he asked. "Do you know who I am, princess?"
Twilight stared into Night’s eyes not giving an inch between them. "You are the warrior Night Dash. You brought whole armies to their knees. You've killed more living creatures than I can count. Ponies call you a monster."
"So you’re standing your ground even though you know I can kill you in a second?" Twilight nodded. Night closed his eyes and smiled. "I like you Twilight Sparkle." he backed off from Twilight, gave a small nod and opened his eyes. "You held your ground even when you knew what I've done. That takes guts. Every other pony that tried taste of this backed off. But you’ve defended yourself."
They walked into the library, because Night’s test caused some ponies to get worried. Spike left to get drinks while Twilight, Night, and Frost all sat in the main room of the library. They sat around talking about many things. Twilight kept asking about Rainbow as a filly and Night kept telling embarrassing stories about her.
After all the stories Night could think of, Twilight got serious. "Night, you should tell Rainbow about where you have been." Twilight started to hesitate. "Rainbow... Rainbow thinks that you’ve abandoned her." That hit Night like a mantacore pouncing on his prey. He couldn’t believe it.
"No it’s not true. She... she wouldn’t think that!" Night stomped a hoof. "And anyway, if I tell her I'll get thrown in the prison."
Twilight shook her head. "Not if I have anything to say about it." Twilight stood up. "I Princess Twilight Sparkle give you Night Dash the right to tell your sister Rainbow Dash anything about where you have been for the last eight years."
Night bowed. "Thank you Princess Twilight Sparkle."
After that Twilight left to finish her work for the princess and Night with Frost stared to read. Over three hours past before Rainbow Dash came in. "Alright Twi, I'm ready my gi-" She was cut off by the sight of Night Dash. Rainbow became very angry by the sight of her brother. She quickly trotted over him and threw the book he was reading out of his hoofs. "What are you doing here Night!? And what happened to you?" She pointed at his mane and tattoos.
Night took a deep breath. "Well I was reading that book before you threw it out of my hoofs. Now I'm being yelled at by you," Night stated sarcastically. He got on his hoof and looked at his sister. "You've grown a lot since last I saw you."
"Shut up!" Rainbow yelled. "You’ve abandoned me Night! You just stopped writing! Why?" Twilight came out of her room to see what was going on. Rainbow saw her marefriend and turned to her. "How could you let him IN HERE? After what I’ve told you about him Twilight!"
Twilight shook her head. "Just listen to him Rainbow Dash."
Rainbow turned to Night. He took a deep breath and began to explain everything. Well not that he killed enough ponies to fill Canterlot twice, but about how he tried to send her letter, but Celestia took them. And that she took all of her letters when he joined the Elites. Rainbow still looked mad.
"I don’t believe you Night." She said coldly. "You would have found it out if it would be the truth." Night was stunned by this. Rainbow believed everything he said when they were foals. "You are lying Night, so just say it."
Night shook his head. "I'm not lying. Celestia had me on missions all the time. So I didn’t have time to think." Rainbow started to grit her teeth. She raised her hoof and hit Night strait in the jaw. He fell strait to the ground. Not because of the punch, but because he was in shock. "I hate you Night Dash!" Rainbow yelled as she was flying out of the library with Twilight following her trying to stop her.
Night lay there in complete shock thinking about what just happened. His little sister, who wanted to be just like him, hit him. Frost slowly trotted over to him. She lay down next to him and began to stroke his mane. "She hates me Frost."
Rainbow Dash Flew to a clearing far from the library. She slammed herself on the ground crying her eyes out. She kept yelling random thing like why is he back and why now. She lay there with head in her hoofs. She sat there for a while, not knowing, that a purple alicorn was watching her from afar. The alicorn slowly trotted up to the sobbing pegasi. She sat next to her and stroked her mane. Rainbow Dash looked up to see Twilight Sparkle. Rainbow wrapped her arms around Twilight and cried into her neck.
After Rainbow’s crying slowed down she looked up and asked. “Why do I feel this way Twi?” She wiped her eyes with one of her fore hoofs. “I mean I came to terms that he was gone years ago.”
Twilight nuzzled Rainbow. “I think you didn’t. You just suppressed your felling towards him.”
Rainbow shook her head. “I didn’t suppress anything!”
Twilight gave her a look. “Rainbow you know that’s not true.”
She sighed. Rainbow knew that Twilight was right, but she didn’t want to say it. After another look from Twilight, Rainbow broke. “OK Fine,” she threw her hooves up. “I missed him a lot. But I still hate him.”
Twilight sighed. This was going to be harder than she thought. “Ok Rainbow, tell me the last good memory you have of you and your brother.”
Rainbow thought for a second. “Well it’s not my last good memory, but it is my favourite.” Twilight relaxed as Rainbow started her story. “This was about a year before I got my cutie mark. And a year before Night left.”
……………
Night Dash was sitting in a cloud couch reading a book. He was waiting for Rainbow Dash to come back from school. He would have picked her up, but Rainbow said that it would be uncool. He should feel bad for teaching his sister about how some things are just uncool, but he didn’t.
He was in half of his book when Rainbow came home. She was wearing a cyan hoodie with the hood up. It was cold in Cloudsdale, but most pegasi had thick fur so the cold didn’t matter. She kept looking at the ground and sniffling. Night put his book down and then trotted to Rainbow.
Night lifted her head and saw blood coming out of Rainbow’s muzzle and tears in her eyes.
“What happened?” Night growled. He tried to hold back his anger, but it didn’t help, because he knew that Rainbow is being bullied and if he doesn’t take her home, this will happen.
Rainbow looked around, trying to think of an excuse. “I… I fell down.”
Night saw right through that. “Are you lying to me, Rainbow Dash?”
“NO!” Rainbow said far too quickly.
Her brother cocked a brow. “Rainbow?” he said and stared deep into Rainbow’s eyes looking for the truth.
Rainbow broke like a twig in Night’s stair. She jumped up latched onto his neck and cried on his shoulder.
“They... they are... so mean... Knight Night!” she said between sobs. Night ran his hoof through her mane calming her.
After Rainbow slowed her crying Night began speak. “I can’t tell you why. And I can’t make it stop.”
Rainbow looked up at Night. He always fended of the bullies for her. The fact that he said that he can’t was very out of character.
Rainbow couldn’t stop giving Night a confused look. He sighed. He really thought that she would get it. “What I mean is that I can’t keep fighting your battles. If I keep doing it, you will never win.”
“What?” asked Rainbow. Night facehoofed when he heard her stupid question.
“I mean that I will teach you how to fight after dinner.”
………………
“Wait just a second Rainbow.” Twilight said stopping Rainbow mid-story. “You’re brother condones fighting your bullies and not telling an adult?” Rainbow rolled her eyes. She knew telling this story would do this. But she didn’t really care. Unlike Twilight, Rainbow thinks that telling an adult isn’t always a good idea.
“Yeah. And if we ever have a foal I’ll tell ‘em the same thing.”
Twilight’s eyes widened. “You will not!”
“Can we just get back to the story?”
Twilight raised a hoof. “One last thing. How old is your brother?”
Rainbow tapped her chin… “Well he’s three years older than me so-“ Twilight cut her off.
“Wait, three years?” Twilight was dumb struck. In the story, Night sounded like he was 16 or 17. “But that means he was 13 at that time.”
Rainbow rubbed the back of her head. She wasn’t embarrassed of Night’s age at the time. “Yeah. He had to grow up fast.”
“Why?” it was one word but it felt like a train was dropped on the rainbow mare.
“I-I don’t want talk about it. Let’s just get back to the story.”
“Are you sure? You know you can tell me anything Rainbow.” Rainbow shook her head. Twilight didn’t want to push her, but knack for decrypted everything had gotten the best of her. She wanted to know why this was a touché subjected. “Rainbow, you can tell me anything. Don’t let your fear get the best of you.”
“IT’S NOT!” Rainbow snapped. Twilight was taken back by this. Of course that she and Rainbow had fights, but Rainbow NEVER snapped at Twilight.
Twilight stopped her presure on the subject for now. She would have to ask Night dash about it.
“Anyway.” Rainbow started. “After Night cleaned me up and got dinner. We went to a dojo a few blocks from our house…”
…………….
Night and Rainbow entered a dojo. It looked like the one in call of the cutie. There was ten students all working on punches with instructors. Most of the students didn’t notice Night come in, but one stallion did. He walked up to the siblings. It was an older stallion with a wrinkly skin. He walked with a cane, but that was mostly for show. He also had a long beard that went down to his knees.
“Kon'nichiwa, Night Dash-san,” the old man said in a thick East-Asian ascent. He looked at the young stallion then to his knees where he spotted a younger filly that looked very similar to him.
Night bowed. “Kon'nichiwa, Haruki sensei.” Rainbow looked up at her brother then at the old man. She was mainly wondering why the heck Night was bowing to an old man.
Night lifted his head and waited for Haruki to speak. After looking over the two he began. “So, Night? What brings you here today?”
Night motioned to his sister. “This is Rainbow Dash. She has troubles with bullies at school. So I wanted to teach her what you taught me.” Haruki stroked his beard. He could ask Night why he brought her to his dojo or just tell them to leave.
He gave into his curiosity and asked, “But why you bring her here? You can train her somewhere else,” He stopped stroking his beard and looked down at the cyan filly.
Night looked around at the other students at the dojo. Most of them had a white belt which meant they were only beginners. Night looked back at his old teacher. “I want to use the training room in the back. There is so many tools I can use.” Night looked on the left and right and his voice was quieter, “and I don’t want our parents to know. They’d kill me if they would found out that I was doing this.”
Haruki began to stroke his beard again. After what felt like an eternity her responded, “You may use the training room, but you should let your parents know what you’re doing. It is not wise to hide these things.” The two martial artists bowed to each other.
Rainbow and Night walked into the back room of the dojo. It was a lot smaller than the main room. There was a gong at the end of the room with Celestia and Luna. Night trotted to a closet and shifted a few things before he pulled out a uniform.
He closed the door and trotted over to Rainbow Dash. “Put this on.” She did as he told her. (I’m not going to lie… Rainbow Dash looked adorable!) He then went back to the closet and pulled out multiple items.
After he set them up he turned to Rainbow Dash. “I will teach you what I know, but you can only use this in self-defence. Do you understand?” Rainbow nodded as they began to train.
………………
“I excelled at karate.” Rainbow said coming out of the memory. “Night thought that’s what my cutie mark would be,” she gave a fake laugh. “It took three months to get my black belt. That’s when Night stopped taking me to school.” Rainbow looked out to the horizon.
……………..
Rainbow was flying out of the school when her bullies stopped her. There were three fillies standing in front of her. The middle one had white coat and pink mane. It was the ring leader of the group. The other filly to her right had a navy blue coat and yellow mane. The last one had red coat and orange mane.
The middle one stepped out of the small group. “Well, well, well, if it isn’t the dumbest filly in this school. Where’s your brother?” Her voice was snarky and filled with hate. “Did he abandon you too?” The other two started to laugh at that.
Rainbow just smiled and started walking. Of course the three bullies followed. They kept calling Rainbow names, but she did as Night told her and ignored them. Everything was fine until the blue filly said, “Do you want another bloody muzzle?”
Rainbow turned around. She stared deep into their eyes. “Try me!” That was all she had to say. The three fillies lunged at her. The one on the left tried to buck her out of the air, but Rainbow dodged and bucked her, sending her on the ground. Then the one in the middle tried to tackle her, but rainbow dodged again and then slammed her into a cloud wall. She thought it felt good to do this. She felt strong and powerful. She also wondered why Night didn’t do this to other ponies. The power was intoxicating to her. The last one was the blue filly.
“P-p-p-please don’t hurt me Rainbow Dash.” The poor filly was crying her eyes out. “Please I’m sorry I won’t do it again. I promise!”
Rainbow scoffed. “You should have thought of that before you hurt me.” She raised her hoof at the cowering pony. She was getting ready to strike when a huge gust of wind and a black and rainbow streak came through the air. Night was hovering between Rainbow and her former bully.
“Rainbow dash?” He started. “What do you think that you’re doing?” He crossed his fore-hoofs
“I’m doing what you told me to do.” Rainbow pointed at the two fillies on the ground.
“THAT IS NOT WHAT I TOLD YOU!” shouted Night. “I told you to defend yourself it they attack you, but not to attack them!”
Rainbow gave her big brother puppy dog eyes, “But Knight Night-“
“Don’t you Knight Night me!” he cut her off. “Go straight to your room. And I will tell mom and dad what you did.”
Rainbow’s eyes widened. She knew what was coming. “Night, please don’t tell mom and dad!” Rainbow started to hyperventilate. The last time she did something wrong she couldn’t sit right for a week. “I’ll just run away!” She spat out. She wasn’t thinking clearly. She just didn’t want her parents to know about this.
“Fine, then you will come with me and tell this to our parents by your own!” Rainbow grumbled she knew that she couldn’t get away.
………..
“I learned a lesson that day. Even when you have the power to do something doesn’t mean you should.” Rainbow got up and started to stretch her wings. Twilight got up too and did the same. “Thanks Twi. I needed this. It’s gonna take some time, but I think I can forgive Night.” Twilight nuzzled Rainbow.
“Come on, let’s get going.” Just as they were going to take off, three ponies jumped out of the bushes.
One with a thick germane accent said. “Guten Abend Frauen’s.” The germane looked at Rainbow Dash. “You are the sister of Night Dash, right?”
Chapter 4
The Past Part 2
Night laid in a corner of the library. His ears were splayed back and Frost was doing her best to cheer him up. She has tried telling jokes to sexual harassments, but nothing was getting him out of this slum. She was about to try offering an ice cream, but that would just make him more sad then he already was. So she just stood there in fort of him, thinking of some way to make him happy.
She was going to give up when Night spoke up. “I’m quitting the guard.” His voice was cold and lifeless. As if he lost all reasons for living. “My sister hates me, so there’s no need to protect the country if she doesn’t want me.”
Frost rolled her eyes. She never saw him like this before, but she knew that he was just in shock and needed to be thrown out of it. She thought for a second before realizing what to do. “Tell me about her.” Night got up and shaked his messy mane.
Night sighed. “It’s been eight years Frost, I don’t know her anymore.”
Frost crossed her front legs. “What a pussy.”
Night recoiled at that. He was called many things, but a pussy was not one of them. He raised an eyebrow, “Excuse me?”
“You heard me,” Frost said. “The Night Dash I know would do everything he could to rekindle the relationship that he has lost.”
The Black stallion gritted his teeth. It’s true that he does everything he can to make things right. But he felt that this was different. Rainbow stuck to him like glue when she was a filly and Night loved that. Now that she said that she hates him, it broke his heart. He joined the Elites to protect his sister form what red tape wouldn’t let the regular military do. She was his drive and now that she’s gone he feels empty.
“Now,” The ice blue mare started, “Tell me the last good memory you have of your sister.” The black stallion shifted in thought.
“Well… it was a month before I left for guard training and Rainbow for flight school.” He put a hoof to his chin. “I was about 13 and I was argent as Tartarus.”
……………
Night was at the race track bragging about a race he won yesterday to some fillies. He always did this, no matter how much trouble he got into with their coltfriends, he always did it. The fillies giggled, when two male pegasi flew over. On had a white coat and blond mane the other had a red coat and blue mane. When they looked at Night they all got disgusted.
The blond maned stallion walked up straight up to Night and said. “Well if it isn’t the second best flier in Equestria.” He liked doing this to Night, getting him angry.
Night took a few steps away from the teenaged fillies. “You know what Kane?” he spat out his name.
Kane gave a smile to the fillies. He was one of the coolest ponies in school, but Night had more friends and much cooler in school. “I saw your race. It was pitiful,” he posed. He opened his wings, lifted his right hoof and turned his head to look at the teen fillies.
“My little sister could beat you in a race with no problem.” But Night got over Kane, making him mad and now it was time for payback. “I mean your wing power is what? Five?” He gave a small smile. “Mine is up to ten, and I’m only 13.”
Kane kept his composer and gave another try at getting under Night’s skin. “I’ll beat your sister in a race and then beat her plot until it bleeds.” He gave an evil smile. “Then I’ll make something else bleed.”
Night snorted. No pony… NO PONY said anything like that to. Night got in Kane’s face and growled “You, me, race, NOW!”
Kane chuckled and got on the starting point of the track. “Let’s go you rainbow maned faggot.” Night was right next to Kane in a starting position. He was clearly pissed and wanted pay back and a race wasn’t going to cut it. This was just the start of the pain he was going to cause him.
A referee flew up and razed his hoofs. He looked left and right at the track. It was a half mile long and was used for drag-racing. A minute later he dropped them and the two preteen stallions were off. Kane had a fare lead on Night and was about ready to win when a blur of rainbow color cam swooping past him. A second later Night was at the finish line stretching his huge wings.
When Kane got enough close to Night, the black pegasus hit him in mid-flight straight into his chest, sending the air and blood out of his mouth. Kane fell on the cloud-ground in a second. Night flew down and stepped on his throat. He was pressing harder and harder, until he heard a snap what echoed through the thin air. Kane coughed more blood out and was gasping for air. Night was getting ready for his final blow, when a guard tackled him away from Kane.
Night was fighting with the guard. He hit the guard in the bare part of his face but it didn’t faze him. The guard hit Night in the rib cage. It wasn’t hard enough to break bones but it did nock the wind out of him. After the guard restrained Night, he sent him off to the guard station and then went to go see how bad Kane was. Later that day Night was charged with assault and resisting arrest. He was going to be sent to juvenile hall, but his mother was a high official in Cloudsdale so she got him out, but it was at a price. Night had to nurse Kane back to help.
…………
“Wait” Frost held out her hooves. “That can’t be you. I mean, you’ve been in this situation before and you’ve never acted like that!”
Night looked at Frost for a minute before answering. “Well Frost, that was before the guard. And trust me, the rest of the story helped form me to who I am today.”
…………..
“You’re going to take care of that poor colt and that’s final!” Night’s mom said in a stern voice. It had been three weeks since what happened at the race track and now Night is paying for it. “And Rainbow fell off of the roof since you just had to race. You will have to take care of here too.”
“What! When did THIS happen and why am I just being told now!” he demanded to know. His little sister was his life and if something happened to her… well let’s just say a broken neck was the last thing somepony was going to get.
“You were in jail.” His mother answered coldly.
Night’s ears drooped. “Oh… yeah.”
“Come on, the flight to the hospital takes an hour and your sister wants to see you.” The flight to the hospital was long and quiet. Every time Night looked over at his mother he was met with a cold stare. In the stare was a mixture of fear and disappointment. Disappointment at herself, for not sending Night to anger management classes. Disappointment because he was turning more and more into his father, Not that, that’s a bad thing, but his father had problems like this when he was Night’s age.
When they finally got to the hospital, Night immediately rushed to the reception desk. “WHERE’S MY SISTER? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH HER? IF YOU DON’T FUCKING TELL ME RIGHT NOW I’LL-“
“Night Dash, language!” He was getting ready to say a pretty gory thing but his mother cut him off.
“Sorry mom.” He said in an ‘I don’t care’ tone. His mother swatted him upside the head and proceeded to walk to the reception desk.
She cleared her throat and began to speak in a softer tone then she did with her son. “Ma’am, can you please tell me where my daughter is? Her name is Rainbow Dash.”
The nurse picked up a clip board and started to flip through the pages on it. “Let’s see… D” She stopped on one page and started to run her hoof down it looking for the right name. “D a, ah her it is!” She looked up from the clip board. “She’s in room 212.”
Night’s mom nodded. “Thank you.” She turned and started to walk down the hall with Night in tow. They said hello to an elderly woman that was a friend of their family, a war hero that fought in the Griffon wars, and a nurse because they go lost. They reached Rainbow’s room and opened the door. Rainbow looked to the door and jumped out of her bed. She ran to her mother and gave her a hug.
“I’m guessing since she’s as energetic as usual that she’ll be fine.” Her father nodded then turned to Night.
“Outside boy.” That was all that Night needed to hear to know that he was in deep trouble. He went outside the room watching his flank. Once the two were outside his father laid it on him. “Night Dash I don’t care what he said or did. If I will ever hear a rumor that you did something like this, you will be back in a cell before you can say a word.” His father was nearly shouting at the top of his lungs. “Do you understand me, young stallion?”
Night rolled his eyes. “Yes dad.”
“And don’t roll your eyes at me!” He trotted to the nurse’s desk. He spoke with a softer voice than before. “Ma’am, can you tell me where the young stallion named Kane is?”
The white mare at the desk flipped through the pages on her desk. She was humming a tune from the up incoming artist, mare pegasi. Night gave her six years and she would be gone like the wind.
…………
“Hang on, I thought this was going to be a story about you and Rainbow not this Kane guy.”
‘Again, Frost! If she’ll keep doing this I’m going to put a muzzle on her,’ Night thought. “Yes, and if you would shut up, I’ll get to that part,” he said with a fake smile.
She shrugged. “Fine, now you don’t get the surprise that I was going to give you.”
He razed an eye brow. “What surprise?”
Frost’s eyes were half open and a small smile came to her face. “You’ll never know now.”
His facial features lowered when he figured out what she was talking about. He slid a hoof down his face hard enough to pull his skin. He groaned, “Oh, buck me!” Frost gave a light giggle at him. “Let’s just get back to the story.”
………………
Night trotted to Kane’s Room, he hated this guy and the fact that he had to take care of him was even worse than being in the same room with him. Jail wasn’t looking so bad now. He opened the door and saw Kane in his bed. He had a neck brace and had a cast on his chest. There was an I.V. next to him. For a second, just a second Night felt bad for what he did.
“What are you doing here fag?” And now it’s gone. Night was getting ready to walk out of the room but his father stopped him.
Night turned around and rolled his eyes. “I have to take care of you until you get better.” Night felt sick just saying those words. It was like eating molten lava or swallowing acid to him. Night swallowed the lump in his throat and continued. “So what do you need?” This is going to suck for the black Pegasus.
A smile went across Kane’s face. “I need my bed pan changed.”
There was no way in Tartarus he was going any ware near Kane’s crotch. “You want me to put my hoofs near your balls?” Night ask. “Gay.”
Kane’s eyes went wide. “I am not!” He protested. Night smiled, maybe taking care of this guy wouldn’t be so bad.
“Well you want me to take your bed pan.” Night suppressed a laugh as Kane was turning bright red. “Which means you want me to go near your balls.”
Kane shook his head. “I’ll just have the nurse get it.” He said with a shaky voice. “Go get me some lunch.” He was still shaky, but he was calming down. “I’ll take a daffodil and daisy sandwich with a side of hay fries and a pony cola.” Night shook his head and left the room. Once outside he started to laugh about what just happened.
…………….
Night came out of the memory of his foalhood because a purple blur came flying through the door. Both Night and Frost jumped into a fighting stance on reflex. The blur banked left and collided with a book case. Frost slowly trotted to the pile of books that was made by the blur. She poked it with her right hoof. A second later she heard a groan. She started to shift books until she saw a horn, followed by a plain purple mane cut. Frost started to move books faster to reveal princess Twilight Sparkle. She was badly beaten. She had blood covering her face, her right eye was back and closed. She also had blood coming from her mouth and nose. After they dug the princess out of the books she only muttered few words.
“Rainbow… trouble… Germane.”
