Chapter 10: Awakening… and transforming.

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

I awoke like many other times… feeling refreshed…

That did not seem right… Oh, wait… I died. A sudden wave of dread came crashing down on me—metaphorically, of course. I knew that I had just failed Chrissy. It’s all over; I couldn’t make it. Now… now I have to carry the pain of not accomplishing my goals.

“Hey sonny! You there?!” I heard an old man saying; sounding far away, “Well, if you can, you better wake up and finish what you started, ya hear me?!”

“Alright, alright. Just stop shouting at me… anyways, who are y-“ I didn’t get to finish my statement.

I awoke… again.

*sigh* this is getting old fast. I was wondering how many more times will I have to wake up until I actually die…

Well actually something was off. My right leg hurt—not siring pain like I was expecting, but, it hurt. I… might be alive? I still couldn’t believe it… I’m up. and I feel better, but I can feel pain… is that a good thing?

I rolled to my side and heard a gasp, followed by a tight hug and, “My Goodness-you're alive!” That sounded very much like Chrissy’s voice. I tried rolling over but I was stopped, “No, don’t move… just stay down and relax, please.” Chrissy said in a sorrow filled voice.

I felt a kiss on my head and then I heard her say, “I will go make you something. Just promise me you will stay down… please.” She sounded so carrying, so… amazing.

You don’t know what you have until it’s gone. That quote makes so much sense now. I thought I lost Chrissy and I realized just how much she means to me now. She’s everything to me. Without her I would fall into madness and probably kill myself. She is the queen of my heart.

I used to live by “Sometimes loneliness isn't a temporary problem.” I always thought I would be alone forever, even though I would say to myself I will have a wife and kids one day. That was not the case; the truth was I was extremely lonely, completely alone. No one to look to for help. I was a broken man.

Now… NOW! I have a purpose in life. And I will make it happen, no matter what…

I will help Chrissy get what she wants. And nothing will stand in my way; if something does, there will be hell to pay. I am done playing around.

I got sidetracked from my ranting in my head when my door opened and I slowly started to roll over. I managed to roll over with a small groan of pain that was still coming off my leg. I looked towards Chrissy and smiled sweetly which she returned.

Chrissy was carrying a bowl of soup towards me. Which--by the way-- looked and smelled like it was brought from heaven. I started to slowly sit up which I succeeded in but was tired right after that… huh, weird.

Chrissy sat down the bowl right in my lap and got onto the bed with me and snuggle in under my arm.

“... I was so worried,” Chrissy begun, “I thought I lost you,” she was starting to tear up and I could hear her voice start to break. “W-when I found you outside with all the blood aroun-” I stopped her there with a finger and wrapped my arms around her securely.

“I was worried too… I thought that would be the last time I would see you… that was when I realized how important you are to me. Without you… I am nothing more than a typical human that would still have a sever case of loneliness,” I begun to squeeze Chrissy more tightly and lightly kissed her on the tip of her horn. “I love you, Chrysalis.” I said with a nice amount of power behind my words.

I have never meant anything more than right there. That statement is so true. I meant it, with all my heart. I think Chrissy felt that love spike that I was ‘emitting’ because she started to squeeze me tighter and followed by, “I love you so much right now.”

Chrissy was crying again, but this time, the tears, were tears of pure and utter joy not sorrow. I couldn’t help myself and I started to kiss her head everywhere. I lifted her chin up and kissed her very passionately on the lips, sealing them perfectly like they were meant for eachother.

Alas, like all good moments, they must end and our lips separated. Well, at least I could lay in bed with Chrissy and snuggle some more while my eyes drift close…

“Come on, you have to eat; you lost a lot of your blood and some food should help you regenerate back to full health.” Chrissy said in a motherly tone which I just groaned at and caused Chrissy to giggle a bit… her giggles are cute.

“Yes, mother.” I said trying not to laugh from my horrible joke. Chrissy just deadpanned and face palmed… hoofed? Whatever.

“I’m not your mother…” She replied.

“Yes mother in-law.” That caused Chrissy to facehoof again and groan.

“That doesn't even make sense.” Chrissy said, obviously annoyed.

“What fun is there in making sense?” I say. I was always random when I feel like it but what I received as a look was, shock. Usually my randomness makes people laugh but Chrissy looked like she just saw a ghost. So, I asked, “Chrissy? Are you okay?”

Chrissy quickly nods her head and says, “Yes, I am fine, thank you,” Though, I knew there was something wrong, I wasn’t going to pry. Either way I couldn’t, Chrissy already had the spoon floating toward my mouth.

“You know… I could, do this myself.” I say, somewhat confused by the action.

“Please? It will be fun…” Really, fun. Who am I kidding? Chrissy deserves anything she needs--or in this case anything she wants to do.

“Fine.” I say reluctantly and open my mouth. Chrissy lifts the spoon up to my mouth and then puts it in. I was actually surprised when I realized that the soup was my favorite one. Magic? I guess from now on you can blame everything on magic.

Mind you, I wasn’t complaining the slightest, actually I was glad for this. I realized at this point that I still need to learn more about my magic and how to become stronger. Who knows? maybe one day I will need a spell that could do something useful for me. I just hope I don’t have to use it a lot--due to me, getting tired really quickly from magic use.

While I was ranting I haven’t noticed that Chrissy had already stopped feeding me and was looking at me, seemingly amused. I instantly begun to blush as I noticed that my mouth was still open and that the bowl of soup was already empty.

“Someone was hungry.” Chrissy said still in that weird motherly tone.

“What’s with the ‘mother’s act’?” I say.

“Well… over six thousand years ago, I used to babysit and I picked up this habit of feeding someone…” Chrissy said but then looks away with a small frown that I noticed.

“Are you okay?” I ask feeling worried. Love is a weird emotion isn’t it?

“Back then…” I could now see now that her past haunts her. There was a small green tinted tear sliding down her cheek that I quickly wiped away.

“You don’t have to tell me of your past; If it hurts you this much.” I say in the most soothing voice I could muster.

“Back then,” She begun again, ignoring what I have said seconds ago. “I was a p-pony.” I look at her, confused.

“Wha-” That is just way too strange now. She was a pony before? That’s weird.

“I was an alicorn and all my friends were alicorns as well, there wasn’t any other pony species except alicorns… That all changed when Discord came… H-he came and killed most of the alicorns and then changed three of them into… into, Changelings. I was one of them,” Chrissy said, fighting back tears. “He never changed us back…”

Chrissy couldn’t hold it back any longer and just begun to sob. I reached out and grabbed hold of her, trying to calm her down. I hated seeing Chrissy cry. It was so painful for me. I started to slowly caress her hair, in attempt to calm her further.

It helped but she was still incredibly sad. I waited while she just stopped crying and then slowly released her. “Thank you. I don’t know what I would do without you…” She said whimpering a bit after her cry.

“Me too. Me too.” I didn’t have to say anything else. I then thought of something, “Chrissy?” she looked up to me, “Have you tried turning back?” Chrissy slowly nodded.

“I tried turning myself back, but it would never work. I even used a forbidden spell on myself called ‘True form’, but it never worked.”

“What is that spell?” I asked. Stupid curiosity… I wish I was less curious about everything new I learn. Alas, that is not the case. I will probably always have a strong thirst for knowledge.

“It shows your true form. A lot of alicorns never bothered it because they were already immortal and had incredible power. When the other three races came. Unicorns would cast it on themselves to become a being of high power. Usually they become alicorns but on some rare occasions they become Elementals, only two were ever made from this spell. Celestia forbid the spell and When Discord learned more about the spell and of the two Elementals that were still roaming around, he killed them all. He got trapped in stone for this later on by the Elements of Harmony.” Chrissy said still clinging tightly to me.

“What would happen to me? If the spell is cast on me?” I ask. God dammit curiosity.

“I’m not sure but you might turn into a alicorn or a superhuman,” Chrissy said and then got a smile on her face. “I could cast the spell on you and you could become immortal.”

Wait… I could be with her forever? “I can be with you, forever?” I ask, eyes widening to this amazing fact.

“Yes, you can”

My jaw drops to the floor.

“The problem is that once cast, it cannot be un-cast. Trapping you in a form that you may not like.” Chrissy said sadly.

She was saying I could stay with her forever and she is sad because I might find my new body uncomfortable. Really? My one chance to be happy forever and she is sad for me being uncomfortable. Well, I guess she truly cares about me.

I smile and say, “If it means, I could stay with you forever. Then do it. I will always love you, you know.” Chrissy’s eyes widened and a huge smile started to adore her face. I leaned in and kissed Chrissy gently; trying not to move to much.

“B-b-bu-” Chrissy stuttered. “You wont be able to turn back though!”

“For you, I will do anything. Even being in a different form. As long as we stay together I don't care if I’m a small insect.” I said lovingly. Then a thought hit me, “Wait, will my injuries go away?”

“That can only be solved if we do this. I am not completely sure it will heal your injuries though,” Chrissy said, curiosity evident in her beautiful green eyes. “One warning though. You might pass out after experiencing the pain that this spell will put you in.”

I thought for a moment. On the positive side, I spend eternity will Chrissy. The down side is the pain and the new form… What the fuck am I thinking?! Just be with Chrissy, it will be better. “Do it.” I finally said not giving a shit about the cons and only focusing on the pros.

“Alright…” Chrissy said.

I was surrounded by a sticky-green glow and slowly lifted in the air. I looked down to see Chrissy’s face scrunched up in concentration. Then… I started to feel the spell. It was terrifying, to say the least. The pain; unmistakable. It felt like I was set on fire then when I was about to pass out, reviving me completely and starting the process all over again, only this time the pain intensifies by a factor of five.

After a minute or two I couldn’t hold back me screams. From 1-10 I was experiencing 100 units of pain. It was so painful that my lungs started to collapse and I couldn’t breath. Then I stopped breathing altogether but still I was getting oxygen in my system. What the fuck?

I started to shake from fear. I couldn’t breath completely. I didn’t feel my breathing, but it felt right at the same time. I started to feel myself getting more hydrated though. My thirst; gone. My hunger; also vanished. My heart… Was gone. I couldn’t feel my heartbeat but, at the same time, I wasn’t dying.

All of this was happening though at a ridiculously slow pace and I was still experiencing unimaginable pain. Then at the point of passing out Everything was gone. I felt nothing, but at the same time, I felt completely fine.

“D-done.” Chrissy panted and then looked at me. The last thing I remember was Chrissy’s eyes widening and then her, gasping in surprise.
