Chapter 2: Meeting.

After arguing with Rarity about whether or not I needed a fru fru outfit for dating, I had ran out of the Carousal Boutique without any of the fru fru that Rarity was trying to get me in, and a request for something simpler.. my breath was short from screaming, so I just focused on breathing as I passed Fluttershy's and headed to my own house, then passed it to venture into the Everfree Forest. I trotted in the wild wood had always calmed me when I was frustrated, and this time was certainly no different.
The sounds of the wild animals encircled me, but I continued my path, even as the trees seemed to reach to ensnare me. Even with all of these dangers, I kept my head up and continued on.
After about twenty minutes of walking, my ears perked as I heard arguing.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Now, dear readers—yes I am breaking the fourth wall here—we must venture into the story of another player in this… whatever you want to call this thing. Is it a book is it a novel? I really don’t know Dear I think they get the point. I will take it from here and give our readers a little back story on me. Why don’t you go take a break? If I must. You must. Because I told you to.
Ahem. Greetings. As you can tell this is not Lienia narrating. One the—what did she call it—font is different.
Now, my name is Fira. I am an Alicorn. At this moment in time I am approximately 2000 years old… older now that I think of it, I just stopped counting at 2000. I know I’m a bit older than Celestia and Luna. Note: I do not refer to them as “Princess”. My sisters and myself met them when they were foals once.
Alright I must quit my reminiscing; a mare should not be so open with her age. Now, as the princesses control the moon and sun, my sisters and I each control the elements of Wind, Water, Shadows, and Fire. I control fire. My duties are to keep the brush low in the forests, keep the animals warm in winter, and to guide animals through the darkness when the moon was blocked out.
My siblings did similar jobs in the world with their elements. I should probably tell you about them… First, there’s Windwalker, who controls wind. Then there’s Waterfall, bearer of water, and then there’s Shadowfax, who wields the shadows… she is also the youngest.
For many years we did our duties, even when Celestia and Luna came to power in Equestia, but it seemed we were forgotten. Even as they locked up Discord, and when Luna became Nightmare Moon. We were in the shadows and remained silent, fulfilling our duties without no pony knowing we were there.
Sometimes… when winter was well through and the animals warmed, I would fade into fires and watch ponies as they relaxed in their homes. I’ll admit… at first I felt bad about being so snoopy, but I felt a need to see how normal ponies lived. And I was never really disappointed… though I would get jealous…
Don’t get me wrong, I loved my sisters, but they were not enough… I wanted what other mares had… “a special somepony”. I didn’t care if it were a stallion or another mare. I just wanted someone I could be with and share this feeling of romance.
When my sisters found out about my little request, they understood, but they pointed out the one problem… the immortality. Even if I had found a special somepony… I would out live them… and watch them grow old, and die. Such is the curse of my heritage as an alicorn.
So I continued on with my life, trying to be strong and push away my wants. Duties were what I had to do. Perhaps when someone else had a knack for all of my duties, I would be able to find someone for me to be with forever…
Several decades passed. My sisters and I watched as our mortal friends slowly grow old and pass on. We clung close to each other as we continued through the years by ourselves.
Then… that fateful Summer Sun Celebration in Equestia… We had returned to our parents’ home to rest for the night—it was really the only day our parents allowed us to rest, as it was our father and our own birthday… amazingly we were all born on the same day different years. So not only were we resting but we were being showered with gifts from family, friends, and a few suitors our parents had aligned for myself, Windwalker, and Waterfall. Shadowfax wasn’t ready for such attention, being the youngest of the four of us.
Now I must speak of my mother and father. Gaia and Welkin. Our mother, Gaia, was a guardian of the earth, in charge of the seasons and the entire care of the earth’s creatures. Our father, Welkin, ruled the endless expanse of sky, assisting our mother in the changing of seasons and creating weather to help the earth create new life.
We had this one relative: an uncle. He was one of our relatives who got stuck as a normal pony instead of an alicorn… which it seems a lot of them are. But that is not my point. This uncle arrived, and everyone shunned and turned away, trying to get him to leave; you see, this uncle was the black, evil sheep of the family. But he did not depart without dropping five obsidian chests with the names of the receivers in some kind of jewels that seemed to match our talents and coloring.
Mother advised we hide the chests and never open them, and only bring them out when we needed to move from place to place throughout the year. My father buried his in his closet, and we buried ours in our dimension pockets. I never touched mine after that night…
Later, when peeking into a fire, a I discovered that Nightmare Moon had returned and had attempted to begin her Eternal Night if not for the Elements of Harmony, who defeated her and managed to revert her back to Princess Luna. I had the worst feeling that the chests contained shards of Nightmare Moon.
Slowly, one by one, my sisters fell into darkness, speaking of overthrowing Celestia and Luna and taking over Equestia, and then started to call themselves Windstorm, Monsoon, and Nightstorm. And then they began trying to entice me to join them. But I refused. Over and over. Then they turned my life into a living realm of Hades.
Needless to say, my life has become a large pile of horse apples. My parents banished all of us until my sisters were freed from their darkness. So now I continue my duties as best as I can with them sabotaging me at every turn. Sometimes I banish them for a year into their elements and pray they learn… unfortunately, they never do.

And then I met this beautiful wonderful, brilliant—Fira, I’m none of those things. Are too. Are not. I think you are. And that’s the important thing. Whatever. I will be taking over again. Now I believe I was walking through the forest right? Yes, and I think you heard arguing… Ah yes. *sounds of a throat clearing.* let us resume. Shouldn’t I tell it? It will be third person until I come in and why ARE WE STILL TYPING OUT THIS CONVERSATION?!?!?! Because it is somewhat entertaining and keeps the readers rather enraptured with what we are speaking of hoping to get a hint of what is to come. Oh… right….
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
After being chased around the forest for about three hours, an alicorn with the color schemes of flames spun as she decided to confront her sisters as they circled above her. “Why won't you leave me alone?!”
A white alicorn with a dark gray mane landed in front of her. “Because you refuse to join us! We could rule over these retched little ponies!”
A dark oceanic blue one nodded as she swept out of a puddle, shaking the water from her wings as she walked forward. “Come dear sister, join us. It will be so much easier...”
A black alicorn seemingly appeared out of her shadow and caressed her flank with her tail as she circled her. “Come on sister. You know you want to, imagine how much stronger you will be.”
“I've told you once and I will tell you again, I am not going to join you! Now go away!” She snarled as her mane and tail began billowing and her pupils became dragon like.
Her dark sister's tail whipped around her throat as her voice hissed, “You're only making this much harder sister.”
The fiery sibling pulled away. “I don't want to be part of it.”
The cloud colored sister faded and reappeared beside her. “Mother and father would never want us to be apart like this.”
“True. But they also didn't want it to be this way either.”
The blue sister chuckled. “Sweet Fira. but we could rule instead of that petty Celestia.”
“I rather not.”
I watched silently from the bushes as the other three alicorns—I noted they all had armor similar to Nightmare Moon's, all glared at their red coated sister and lowered their heads and charged.
Fira backed up a few steps and then lowered her head.
I ran out—I’m that smart…—and stood in the center of their charge. “STOP! There is a rational and less dangerous way to settle your argument!”
The three stop, then the dark one growls and lifts me up, and slams me against a tree with her magic. Darkness faded into my vision and I passed out.
“Leave her out of this! That wasn't needed. And she's right. I only lowered my head to defend myself!” Fira snapped, stepping between her sisters and my unconscious body.
“That pathetic little foal did not need to stick her nose into things that is not her business!” her siblings chanted.
Fira’s horn glows and she lifts them up-
They all struggle and the white one glares at the blue. “DO SOMETHING MONSOON!”
The apparent eldest glared at her. “Leave now!”
Monsoon lowered her head and her horn glowed blue as she took control of a puddle in front of Fira, who flicked her head so they go flying into a tree.
They all crumbled to the ground for a moment and Monsoon glared at the white. “Your turn Windstorm.”
She knocked them into the trees a couple more times and then banished them into their elements.
They shriek as they are and then silence flooded the clearing. Fira trotted over to the pony with the white coat and yellow mane and tail, gold horn and a white poppy as the cutie mark. She remained still, though her breathing appeared to be normal.
