The Wonderful World of Illal
Prologue- The Start of a Wonderful Day
A torrent of sand surrounded a beast of metal and death, slowly it's legs creaked up and down stomping in the sand making its way to a safe haven from the sand that stung it's armored skin. Twilight sighed deeply, the patrol she had been posted to had been anything but entertaining, and while it was somewhat dangerous to wish for something interesting to happen on the many patrols she did but she was unable to help herself.
I can't keep this up for much longer. There are only so many reports that I can write "Clear." for without getting bored. She thought while lifting her hand to take care of a itch on the back of her neck. All of a sudden her head set began yelling in her ear.
"Hey! We are almost done with our daily rounds which means we get to have ANOTHER PARTY!" All of the sudden a much lighter metal beast appeared which was bouncing up and down using the jet on its back to jump and dance around Twilight's much heavier Mechanized Attack Weapons Carriage or quite simply Mech.
"Ohhhh god, Pinkie I am just about partied out. How many of these parties do you even need?" Twilight said as she let out a tired sigh.
"Oh come on Lightly you can never have to many parties, after all there is cake and I know everybody loves cake." Pinkie said cheerfully as ever trying to uplift her friends spirit.
Twilight could not help but to smile, Pinkie had her there her cupcakes and cakes were known for being the best in the mess hall and Twilight would be lying if she said that she did not enjoy them.... It was more of the fact that there was really nothing to celebrate that irked her about the endless stream if parties Pinkie seemed to enjoy, but then what else could Twilight expect from Pinkie Pie asking her not to party at least once a day was like asking Twilight not to go into the computer room and not read about ... well everything.
"Well in My view we should take some time to design some new uniforms, these horrid suits that we have on now are simply last century." Ah there was Rarity wishing to design yet ANOTHER fire proof bullet proof and life supporting suit that somehow looked better than ones that she designed last week.
"Rarity do we really need any more suits I mean I love the purple I have on this suit and would rather keep it for a while..." Twilight looked down at her pilot suit and admired the hue of purple that it was quite simply the hue was perfect to her and that was all that mattered.
Of course Rarity would have none of it. "But darling we have to keep up with the tends of fashion." She said as her Mech walked towards Pinkie and Twilight's own Mechs her outline in the sand now visible. "Regardless let's get out of this horrid weather I think this sand is scratching my wonderful paint."
Twilight simply face palmed Rarity cared more for her Mech's paint and looks than if it actually functioned and it left her wondering how her friend did so well in combat.
Twilight decided to try and change the subject. "I wish something interesting would happen during this darn patrols it has been forever since Prosk has attacked our little mining operation."
A quite voice rung in Twilight's headset in response to her. "I-I sort of like it like this combat startles me." Futtershy was also just returning from her rounds as well.
"Whatever let's just hurry up I am so bored." Rainbow's and Futtershy's Mech were walking together and all of pilots slowly were walking towards a large set of doors.
"Anybody know where Apple is?" Rarity asked.
"Good question I think she already checked in to the garage." Twilight said "Now come on let's just get inside I need to check to see if any new reports are interesting."
It was at this point that the huge steel doors began to open slowly sliding out of the way of the five metal figures awaiting entry, once the thick slabs of metal were removed from the path of the mech they proceeded to walk in and go to their stations without saying to much else. They all were tired as always that is everyone but Pinkie who would think out loud about her party that she was planning.
Twilight felt herself once again thinking about the world she was on while Pinkie talked. She like her friends came to Illal so long ago looking for a life away from the wars that raged on Earth, but then things just sort of... fell apart cooperation's like Prosk, Sentium, and the now recently dead Crion quite simply ruled and fought over the world acting like children and wishing for more power. Fighting over any resources one could think of as a new threat appeared.
The Hawken virus also known as the Giga-Structure was a self-replicating nano-virus that was slowly taking over the planet it origin still in question after all these years. Not that it mattered it already covered a third of the planet destroying cities and people as it turned crops into metal and life into a lifeless structure.
Mech warfare took off after these events quite simply put humans that actually stood outside without protection were turned to statues of metal pain on the millions of faces of the dead as they froze in place forever.
Twilight watched as her mech was scanned for any trait of the virus, while the Mechs they piloted were not at risk from the effects of the Hawken virus they could carry it with then and therefore had to be scanned, and sometimes cleaned if it was found in the scan.
"These here scans take forever." Twilight jumped as Applejack suddenly piped up annoyed at the time it took to scan every nook of her mech.
Twilight decided to take a short nap while she waited but before she could even get any rest a loud alarm set off then another, and another.
All six of the pilots signed.
Today would be a long one to say the least.
