Chapters Its been years since I found out why I am an Alicorn. As I walk around inside this castle with Celestia and Luna. I felt the urge to go back to my quarters and look at something. Something very important and dear to me.
“I'll be back.” I said to the Princesses
“That’s fine. There's no hurry.” Said Celestia.
I walked back to my room. Looked on my dresser into a small chest like box that said “Radiant Skyline + Dark Monarch” on it. I started to tear up as I opened it. Inside was a necklace. A silver necklace with 3 gemstones. One ruby, one topaz, and a heart shaped diamond. The same names that were on the box were on the bottom of the necklace. And under that necklace… was a picture of me and my mom. Well…not really my mom but close enough I guess. I was abandoned at a young age. What can I say. Fluttershy IS my mom. I started to remember everything…
2,000 years earlier.
“Mom?” I asked.
“Yes sweetie?” She said.
“How did you find me?” I asked.
“Well… That’s a long story. At first I thought it was just the forest animals bringing me to an animal in distress. But after I saw a burning house. I knew it was something more. You were in your crib crying when I burst into the house. I had to act fast. I grabbed you and ran outside. When I got outside the house fell over into a pile of ash. I hugged you and tried to assure you it was gonna be alright. But you wouldn’t stop crying. I took you out of your blanket to see you had a horn and wings. At first, I thought nothing of it and then I realized… YOU’RE AN ALICORN! This was so rare to find an Alicorn especially so young! I had to keep you safe from everything. I took you home as fast as I could covering you with your blanket. I put you down in my house once you finally stopped crying. You looked into my eyes and I looked into yours. You spoke the first thing I ever heard come out of your mouth. “Mama.” Was what you said. I burst into tears knowing I couldn’t let anything happen to you. You could never know about your past. And no one could ever find out about you.”
“Mommy?” I said as somepony came to the door.
“Hide Monarch!” she said as she lifted the trap door under the rug.
I watched from the cracks beneath the floor boards. It was a rainbow pony. A Pegasus to be exact. She walked around talking to Fluttershy for a while. I decided to turn back until I saw the rainbow pony make eye contact with me. I ran back into my hideout. She saw me! I've been found! They’re gonna take me away from my mommy! I tried not to cry but it didn’t work. I lost it. I've been here for 10 years. Ten years in the safety of her arms. And now I know I messed up bad.
“Bye Rainbow Dash.” Fluttershy said as she closed the door.
She opened the trap door and pulled me out.
“Mommy she saw me!” I yelled.
“What?” she asked.
“The rainbow pony! She saw me!” I bawled to her.
“Shhhh no she didn’t Monarch its okay.” She said as she hugged me tighter.
Later that day…
“Goodnight Monarch.” She said as she kissed me on the forehead.
“Night mommy.” I said as I yawned.
I sat in my room which was under the floor boards to keep me safe from everything bad mommy told me about. I heard something or somepony coming towards me. It couldn’t be Mommy. Mommy doesn’t stay awake this late. I saw the rug move and the door open. I hid underneath my blanket. Someone grabbed me but put their hoof over my mouth so no one could hear me scream for help. I ended up falling asleep as it carried me away…
The next day I awoke on the lap of a black pony. It wasn’t a pony… I didn’t know what it was. I screamed “Mommy!” as I started to run away. But something pulled me back. It was a blackish-gray pony like creature. I looked into her green/ blue eyes as she spoke:
“Quiet now young one. Your mine now.” She said.
“What are you?” I said as I played with the holes in its hooves.
“I am Queen Chrysalis of the changelings.” She said.
“I'm Dark Monarch.” I said.
“Yes I know.” She said.
“How?!” I asked.
“I've been watching you, someone like you can really be useful to me.” She said.
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
“Your too young to understand.” She said as she walked away.
“Wheres my mommy?” I asked.
“I'm right here.” She said. She then turned around and it was my mommy! I ran to her and hugged her. I thought I was finally taken away from my mom.
At Fluttershy's house:
“Oh no! Oh no oh no no no no no!” Said Fluttershy as she searched her house frantically.
“Monarch!” She yelled.
“Whats wrong Fluttershy?” asked Twilight.
“N-nothings wrong!” Exclaimed Fluttershy.
“You sure?” asked Twilight.
“Twilight… promise you wont tell anypony?” asked Fluttershy.
“Promise.” Said Twilight.
“I found a young Alicorn years ago. I kept him here so he would be safe! But hes gone!” She said.
“You mean an Alicorn like me?” Said Twilight.
“Yes!” Yelled Fluttershy.
“Where was he?” Asked Twilight.
“Here!” said Fluttershy as she showed her the trap door. They opened it. Twilight went first. She examined the small room. She saw something. It was light blue/green hair. She picked it up.
“Chysalis…” She said.
“What?! My baby is with her?! Think of all the things shes doing to him right now! Hurry Twilight! We gotta go!” Yelled Fluttershy as she took Twilight out of her house.
At Chrysalis’ castle:
“Its time you learn what you need to know.” Said Fluttershy.
“Like what?” I said.
“Why you are here as an Alicorn.” Said Fluttershy.
“Wait. I have a purpose? I asked.
“Yes all Alicorns have a purpose.” Fluttershy said.
I noticed something wasn’t right with her… She talked to loud and my mommy didn’t have a horn either! I finally asked: “Your not my mommy… are you?”
“No. I am not.” She said as she turned back into a black Alicorn creature. “I am Queen Chrysalis as I said before. I only tricked you so Fluttershy would come to find you. And when shes here. I shall take all the love from her!”
I screamed and tried to run from her. She put me into a cage so I couldn’t run away.
“You know no magic, you cant fly, what can you do there young Alicorn? She asked as she left the room.
I felt something come over me. A certain rage. I felt a strange feeling from my forehead. I watched as bars bent on the cage in front of me as I walked out.
“So you’re a quick learner?” She asked. “Lets see how quick you are when- She didn’t get to finish. Another Alicorn and a Pegasus landed on top of her knocking her out.
“Monarch!” Said Fluttershy as she ran towards me. She picked me up and hugged me as tight as she could.
“So this is your Alicorn then?” Said the other Alicorn. She was purple but was the same size as my mom.
“Yes.” Fluttershy said. “Monarch this is Princess Twilight Sparkle.”
I looked at her. “Hi” was all I could say.
“We best get back to Ponyville now.” Twilight said as she opened a portal. Fluttershy put me on her back and carried me through.
Back in Ponyville.
I was home. My joy was cut short though.
“We have to go to Celestia Fluttershy!” Said Twilight.
“No! They are gonna take him away!” Said Fluttershy.
“I wont let them.” Said Twilight.
We were then brought to a castle. I was looking up to it feeling so small.
Oh my gosh!” Said a pink pony as it picked my up out of no where. “Hes so cute! Twilight who is this?!”
“Pinkie shh!” Said Fluttershy.
The pink pony then realized that I was not any baby.
“An Alicorn!” Yelled Pinkie. She continued to yell until everyone noticed. A mob of people came to the sight of the distressed pony. Everyone started to get real close until a powerful voice rang over the crowd:
“STEP AWAY FROM THEM.” Said a white Alicorn being followed by a dark blue Alicorn.
“Oh my.” Said the dark blue Alicorn.
“Can we please take this somewhere else?” Asked Twilight.
“Of course.” Said the white Alicorn.
We went into the castle and sat down. I sat next to mommy. She looked worried. I know she was. She doesn’t want anything to happen to me.
“Where did he come from?” Asked the white Alicorn.
“Fluttershy, would you like to take over the conversation?” Asked Twilight.
“Oh, um sure.” Said Fluttershy. “ I found him…”
I quit paying attention. I started looking around at all the windows. The windows were pictures. A lot of them of ponies. No wait. All of them. I wandered over to one of them which had Twilight on it. I looked at it for a while until the dark blue Alicorn came to me.
“Well hi.” she said.
“Um…Hi” I replied.
“So you’re an Alicorn huh?” she asked.
“Yeah… I have no idea what that is but yeah.” I replied.
“Well I’m Luna. And you are?”she asked.
“I'm Dark Monarch” I replied.
“Why don’t you come back with me to your mom and the rest of the ponies?” She asked.
“Sorry. Got distracted by these windows.” I replied.
“I'll tell you about those later, okay Monarch?” She said.
“Monarch, this is Princess Celestia. She is going to teach you everything you need to know.” Said Twilight.
“Me?” said Celestia. “I think you mean yourself there Princess Twilight Sparkle.”
A Special Friend from the Past
“Um Monarch?” Said a voice. I snapped out of my flashback to find Luna sitting beside me looking at the things I was holding.
“You miss them don’t you?” She asked.
“You wouldn’t believe how much I do.” I replied.
“You were so young when they first brought you here.” She said as she started to smile. “Cmon, I wanna show you something.” She took me the main hall with all of the stain glass windows. She took me to the one of Alicorn Twilight. “Remember this?” She asked. “This was one of the first things you looked at when you where here.”
“How old was I” I asked.
“Ten, not even. Maybe 11. No one really remembers.” She said. “But after hearing what Fluttershy said that day of how she found you, you had to be only a few months old when she found you.”
I started to remember her. Fluttershy. The pony who took me and raised me as her own. I felt the urge to cry but didn’t want to in front of the Princess. I looked upon the stained glass at Twilight feeling sick to know the last time I studied it was when my mom was here.
“You okay?” Asked Luna.
“I'm fine.” I replied.
“We better go. Celestia wants you.” She said.
I went with her to Celestia. I felt as if time slowed down and started to go back. I passed out on the floor with Luna beside me.
“Monarch?” Said her voice as it faded away.
I was out. I was going through my past until I got to where Twilight was there teaching me simple magic spells. I remembered everything. I was still 10 years old. I saw the field we were in with just us two Alicorns.
“Lets try just making light from your horn. Okay?” She said.
“Alright!” I said cause heck, I knew how to do that.
“That’s great!” She said.
“Lets try lifting okay?” said Twilight.
“Um yeah sure.” I replied. She then lifted a rock from the ground and moved it to her. “Now you try.” she said.
I stared into the rock but nothing happened. I thought of Chrysalis saying “You cant do magic, you cant fly, what can you do?” I felt the same feeling again. The rock lifted but didn’t move. It shattered into pieces.
“Hey!” Twilight said as she grabbed me. “Snap out of it!” She said as she shook me. I then felt as if I was lifting something heavier. I was. I had both of us in the air. I finally snapped out of it. We began to fall to the ground when Twilight used her wings to catch us both from hitting the ground.
“What was that all about?!” She asked.
“I don’t know. I get like that when I think too much.” I replied.
“Look”, she said as she walked me to a patch of flowers. “You have to be gentle with magic. Gentle like this little guy.” She pointed at a butterfly. It was a monarch butterfly the Most common of large butterflies. I watched as I flew flower to flower.
“Whats it doing?” I asked.
“Pollinating, its when they take the pollen of one flower to another to help them survive.” She said.
I thought about it. How can a butterfly so small help such a large community of flowers? I put myself in place of the butterfly. I am small and seen as useless to the unknowing pony. I thought about my purpose in life. Why was I here.
“You ready to try again?” asked Twilight.
“Sure.” I replied.
I walked back over to the same spot as before. This time with a different rock. I focused on it. But not as hard as before. I was thinking of that rock as a butterfly, a fragile object. I closed my eyes and felt a more gentle tingle in my horn. I opened my eyes to see the rock levitating in front of me.
“That’s it!” Said twilight with a smile.
“Now wake up.” She said. “Wake up!”
My vision faded slowly back into present time.
“Monarch!” Said Luna. “Snap out of it!” She yelled as she slapped me in the face.
“What!” I yelled back.
“You were just out for about five minutes!” Said Luna
“I was?” I said unsure if I was living in the past or not.
“You keep doing that. Whats wrong?” She asked.
“Its nothing.” I said. But no, it wasn’t nothing. The times I had before my royalty were some of my most memorable times. My friends, and my mom were still alive then. Why couldn’t I just have been a normal pony and not be a Alicorn? I decided to change my thoughts as I walked with Luna to see Celestia. When I got to the room Celestia greeted me.
“Monarch, so nice of you to join us!” She said.
“Sorry for taking so long, I've just been thinking a lot.” I replied.
“That doesn’t matter now. We have bigger matters in our hooves now.” She said looking at a letter.
“Like what?” I asked.
“The saddle Arabian ponies are still frantic after 2,000 years due to the superstition that your arrival is the coming of the rapture.” Said Luna.
“Wait, they think I’m God?” I asked.
“Yes, a Alicorn being found with no parents and being male made them think this.” Said Celestia as she shook her head. “I'd like you to go to them and tell them you mean no harm and you are no god. Okay?”
“Okay, but will they try to attack me?” I asked.
“No, they believe that the death of you is the death of all.” Said Celestia. “You're free to go now”
“Thanks your majesty.” I said as I walked back to my room.
When I got back to my room I noticed Luna sitting on my bed. “You miss them don’t you?” She asked.
“Miss who?”
“Don’t play stupid. You miss your mom and your marefriend.”
“N-….no I…”
“Yes you do!” she said as she walked towards me. I started to cry. She hugged me as I cried on my bed over the ones that I loved that I've lost long ago. I started to remember what it was like after learning magic. When Rainbow Dash taught me to fly…
“Alright Monarch! Are you ready to learn form the best flier in Equestria!?” Said Rainbow Dash.
“I uh um sure?” I said unsure if I was going to get out alive from this. We were on a cloud since Rainbow and Fluttershy helped me up. I was still young. Maybe 11 years old. I already knew some flying but I really wasn’t a speed demon or skillful.
“Stand here.” Said Rainbow Dash.
“Oh um okay.” I said as I moved to the edge of the cloud. Goggles were put over my eyes from Rainbow Dash.
“Now what?” I asked as I saw Fluttershy bury her face in fear while almost crying.
“You fly!” Yelled Rainbow as she pushed me off the edge. I panicked and started flailing around until she down beside me.
“Just calm down! Flap your wings!” She said. I started to flap as fast as I could. I finally stopped falling and was now hovering over Ponyville. I've never been this high before.
“Now! Catch me!” Said Rainbow as she flew passed and spanked my flank. I started to stride my wings in her direction. I started to slow my strides as I got closer to tag her. She then took off in another direction. I followed. I was going pretty fast! But the faster I went the less control I had. We went over Sweet Apple Acres where Rainbow sat on the barn. I flew into the barn with a Boom. Wood splintered my coat as chickens flew from the hay loft. I looked back through the hole to see rainbow laughing at my abilities to stop.
“Now all you need is some breaks there speedy!” She said chuckling. I moved out of the barn and went outside with Rainbow.
“What in tar'nashion is going on?!” Said Applejack walking towards the barn seeing the hole made by me.
“Just teaching the new Alicorn how to fly is all.” Said rainbow as she nudged my side.
“I'm terribly sorry! Ill fix it!” I said as I started to use my magic to fix it. It took me a while to fix it. I don’t do very well with people watching me. When I was finally done I went back down to Rainbow and AJ.
“I thank y'all for fixing that there, Monarch.”
“Oh its nothing.” I said as I saw Fluttershy coming down from the cloud.
My memories then changed time periods again. This time now was with somepony very special. Someone I met because of Rainbow Dash. I was about 13. Her name was Radiant Skyline. She was a Pegasus from Ponyville. She was dark blue with gold eyes. Her mane and tail where blond but with some dark streaks. She was overall my only friend my age and best friend at that. We were out at night in the fields. I liked to look up at the stars. I always thought of them to be rather unique.
“Hey.” Said Sky, “Follow me.” I followed her. She took off flying and led me through the cloud layer. “Wait for it.”
I waited for a short amount of time. I looked at her the whole time. The feeling I got when I was with her I could never find the right words to explain it with. I saw a patch of black coming from the north. I thought it was bats. It wasn’t. It was butterflies. Dark black and purple ones too.
“What are those?!” I asked Sky.
“Those are monarchs.” She said.
“Monarchs are orange though.” I said.
“These I call dark monarchs. Since you know… kind of match you.” She said as she turned to me. I thought about it. I’ve seen these before. With twilight in the fields practicing magic I saw them. I saw my flank start to glow. I knew I was so close to these monarchs I could be one myself. These aren’t normal monarchs. Normal ones are orange. I wasn’t normal either. I kept thinking of reasons of why I love this place more than anything in the world. Just to be beside the one I felt love for and see that its okay to be different because not everyone can hate something as long as you like yourself the way you are.
“Your flank!” She said as she pointed. It was the dark monarch on my flank.
“I don’t get it! How is that my special talent!” I asked.
“Its resembles your love for those things different.” She said as she moved close to me and looked into me with those gold eyes. I saw them close as she pressed her soft lips against mine. My wing became erect with excitement. I just had my first kiss with someone I've truly loved.
I then saw everything fade to black. I woke up in my bed with Luna beside me. I must have cried myself to sleep thinking about my past. I didn’t move. I watched her as she slept. She was very still and peaceful as she breathed. She then opened her eyes slowly and blinked a few times. She yawned.
“Good morning Monarch.” She said as she sat up.
“Good morning to you too.” I replied as I too sat up. I was wondering why she was looking at me a lot.
“So um, you did something interesting last night.” She said looking at me. My face turned red. I could only think of the most embarrassing things that I ever would’ve done.
“I did?!” I asked hoping the answer wasn’t bad.
“Yeah you did.” Luna said moving towards me.
“What! Tell me!” I demanded.
“You kissed me.” Said Luna as she leaned against me.
What have I done! I only kissed one person my whole life! This isn’t right! Why did I do it!
“But one thing…” Said Luna. “...you called me Sky.” I felt pain in my chest and I began to suffocate with thoughts of her. Why did I have to be different? Why can't we all live as long as everypony? I hate knowing love lasts forever but lives don't.
“You really do want her back don’t you?” Asked Luna.
“Of course I do.” I said. “She meant the world to me and still does.”
“You have to let go.”
“That’s not as easy for me.” I said as I walked out of my room. Luna walked up from behind me to put her wing around me.
“Im sorry, its just that…” she began.
“Just what?”
“I kind of like you too.” she finished.
“Oh um… well…”
“Think about it Monarch. We could live together forever here and never lose each other.”
“I need time to think about this… okay?”
“I mean if you want to… you take all the time you need okay?” She walked away leaving me with my head down in the hallway.
I began to think what it was like knowing someone alive still loved me and all the things I did with that special somepony. I started to remember all the Hearts and Hooves days of me giving her hugs and kisses then surprising her with flowers. The flowers then turned into something very special one year.
I was 20 and she was 18. It was Hearts and Hooves day but it was a bigger day for me. I got Sky a necklace that she’s wanted for a long time. It was a silver heart with a ruby and a topaz on it, symbolizing our birth months. I was found in early December so I guess that’s close enough to be my birth month. There was also a diamond in the center of it, carved to the shape of a heart. The biggest symbol of love ever. Our names were engraved at the bottom tip of the silver piece. It was a expensive buy but she was worth it. We were meeting in the same spot where we kissed the first time. I hovered anxiously for her arrival. Then I was power hugged from behind.
“Hi Monarch!” Said Sky as she squeezed me.
“Hi… Sky…” I said as I struggled to breath. She then let go and I turned around. She looked at me with her gold eyes. Such beauty, so much perfection to have in my presence at once.
“What?” she said smiling at me.
“I um got you something…” I said as I pulled the necklace out, hiding it. “Close your eyes.” She then closed her eyes as I put the necklace on her. “Open.” Her eyes opened and looked down. Her face lit up with joy
“Your so cute Monarch!” She said as she hugged me tight. “Thank you so much!” She pulled away to look closer at it. “Where did you get the bits for this?! Wait is that our birthstones and our names?! Monarch! I told you not to spend that much on me!”
“Your worth it though.” I said as I hugged her. “You may not think so but you are my everything.”
“But..”
“Don’t deny it.”
“I don’t want you getting too attached to me though.” She said as she started to get a look of sadness on her face.
“Why do you say that?” I asked.
“You’re an Alicorn! Your gonna out live me…”
“So? That means I have to make every moment count.”
“No… I'm gonna die and you'll still be living. Don’t you get it? I'm not always gonna be here to be your everything.”
“I…I know…”
“Just promise me one thing?”
“What?”
“You'll find someone after me okay?”
“No!” I said as I hugged her tight against me.
“Monarch… please listen…” She said as she pulled my face close to hers. “I don’t want you being alone for the rest of your life.”
“But!”
“No, shush, do you promise or not?”
“I…I…” I stuttered out as she looked deeply into me. “I promise…”
I snapped out of my flashback due to the sound of a royal guard member calling my name.
“Monarch! I am deeply sorry Sir but you are requested to travel to Saddle Arabia.”
“Why so early? I thought I had more time.”
“Celestia’s orders sir.” He said as he flew away.
Saddle Arabia huh? These ponies are all frantic over me cause they think I’m going to bring the rapture. I thought about what it must be like judging a pony only from what you know, but once you really get to know them, they don’t seem so bad. I walked back to my room to grab my things before I left. I grabbed my box and put it into my saddle bag. I picked up the necklace…looked at it… and decided to put it on. I walked outside the castle to meet up with Celestia and Luna.
“You ready?” Asked Celestia.
“Yes.” I said as I walked towards them. Celestia then opened the portal to Saddle Arabia. I watched as she entered first followed by Luna. I slowly walked into the portal looking back at the castle. Lights of various colors were seen as I traveled through the portal. I began to develop motion sickness so I tried closing my eyes to help. When we arrived in Saddle Arabia there was a crowd of Saddle Arabians. I looked at them… the fear in their eyes made me wanna take over Saddle Arabia and enslave them for what they did…
It was a normal day for me back then. I was with Sky and having a great time in Fluttershy's house. A bunch of ponies walked up to the front door dressed in the traditional Saddle Arabian attire. This included headdresses and robes. Only one of them spoke as Sky answered the door.
“We are looking for the Alicorn who is called Dark Monarch. Have you seen or heard of him?” He asked while hiding himself behind his head scarf. Sky looked back at me, I decided to speak up.
“You don’t have to look far sir, I'm right here.” I said as I approached them. I saw Fluttershy walking into the room as I walked up.
“Monarch… who are these people?” asked Fluttershy as she hid behind the couch.
“Our names don’t matter. We are here to take Monarch.” Said the Saddle Arabian.
“Wait, what do you want with him?” asked Sky.
“That doesn’t matter. Give him to us now or perish.” He said as they unveiled their horns. I moved Sky towards Fluttershy so she was out of their reach.
“We don’t want any trouble.” I said as I started to move out the door.
“Sky! Get back!” I yelled as I saw one member draw out a dagger. She turned to fly back into the house when one of them pulled her down with magic.
“Let her go!” I yelled as I started to move closer. I heard screams from Fluttershy from outside the house. I turned to see her hiding her face in her hooves. I turned back to see Sky… she was bleeding from her neck badly. I felt rage at this point. I lifted the Arabians and smashed them into the ground repeatedly hearing their screams to stop and their bones shattering. I then threw them as far as I could.
I ran to Sky’s body. She was still breathing. I held her hoof as I saw Fluttershy slowly come towards us. Sky was in shock. She lost too much blood already. I hugged her as I started to cry.
“Please don’t go!” I bawled.
“Mon…arch.” Whimpered Sky as she handed me the necklace. “I… love… you…don’t ever forget that…” she said as she used the last of her strength to pull me close and kiss me. I felt the life of her body fade away with each second of the kiss. Her body fell limp into my hooves.
“No! Please don’t leave me! You can't! Not yet! Please no…” I said as I buried my face under her chin to cry. Fluttershy then came to me and hugged me with her wings also crying. This was it… my everything was killed cause I had no guts to save her when I had the chance. That was the longest and saddest day of my endless years of life.
A few days later the people of Ponyville had her funeral. Her parents were there, along with everypony. Even the princesses shed tears cause of this horrific tragedy that took place. I stood the closest to Sky. I held her lifeless hoof as the priest began to say prayers for her. I started to uncontrollably cry over her body. Luna came to me along with Fluttershy to take me away.
“It should have been me!” I preached to everyone as I cried. Those at the funeral all felt sadness for me since I was at the scene of her death. They all hugged their loved ones and began to cry. I saw Sky’s father approach me.
“Its not your fault Monarch. You did what you could.” He said as he touched my shoulder. I kept crying as Luna and Fluttershy took me to sit down. I sat down In the front row next to Luna and Fluttershy. I looked at the necklace… I looked at Sky. I started to remember what she said… She wasn’t always going to be here for me… I started to cry again. How can this happen to someone so innocent…
I then came out of my flashback to follow Celestia and Luna to the stage they had set up for us.
“Hello Princess Luna and Celestia.” He said shaking each of their hooves. He walked to me and looked at me. I lifted my hoof but he knelt down.
“I am most sorry for what has happened to you sir Monarch.” I pulled my hoof back.
“Don’t worry about it.” I said as I walked up to the podium.
I stood up in front of all these ponies. Those who believe I’m a god. Those who believe I chose if they live or die. I opened my mouth to speak but a mare interrupted.
“The great Monarch speaks!” she said as she knelt down followed by the rest of the crowed. I was amazed.
“Um… Hello everypony.” I said to start off a speech that I didn’t really know. “What you know about me is false. I am no god. I am the second coming of god. And I am not the ultimatum of life or death.” I put my head down. “I am Dark Monarch. A Alicorn left for dead but found by a kind pony that raised me as if I were her own. During my life I learned a lot. One of them is that too many judge those just for being different. Saddle Arabia thousands of years ago thought me as a menace to Equestria.”
I took a moment to calibrate my thoughts.
“I was approached by your ponies to assassinate me, but instead they ended up killing my love. Radiant Skyline. You killed her! Why!? Cause she tried to keep me safe. You tried to kill me so it would keep all of you safe.” I felt the urge to cry. I felt a tear form from my eye. “Why?! Why?! Why didn’t you ponies ever think of finding out what things are before you label them as evil!” Luna then grabbed me. I started to cry into my hoofs. The crowd was silent. I looked up as I wiped a tear from my face. I saw the Saddle Arabian population all stand up. The Prince then approached me.
“I’m so sorry. My people are sorry. There is no apology that will bring her back, but please forgive us. I believe today we have all learned not to judge before we learn what it truly is.” said the Prince.
“I have nothing left to say.” I said as I looked upon the Prince’s face. He was hurt also. He knew that he and his people had been wrong. I walked off the stage with Luna and Celestia.
“I apologize for making you attend this awful ceremony.” Said Celestia.
“Just open the portal.” I said still wiping tears from my eyes.
Fixing the Past, Breaking the Future
Two Days Later
Its been a long time since I came out of my room or even talked to anypony. All I did was lay in bed and stare into the ceiling. I finally felt a little better after what happened at Saddle Arabia, so I decided to go out of my room. I walked outside my room and walked straight to the main entrance to Celestia’s castle. I opened the doors with my magic and then closed them after I was out. I looked around at everypony. So much happiness, so much love for each other. It made me sick… I kept walking until something caught my eye. It was Time Turner. He had a contraption and he was rambling on about to people that have absolute no idea whats going on.
“This can change everything! We can finally go back in time!” Said a pony from the group. I thought about it…
I could go back and save Sky!
“Excuse me! Time Turner!” I yelled directly towards him as I flew.
“Please call me Dr. Whooves.” He said fixing his tie.
“Sorry, I overheard some of the crowd. So this can take me back in time huh?”
“Well yes, yes it can but...”
“I want to be the first to use it.”
“Well uhm there's a few things you should...” He said as I walked into the contraption which was made to resemble a phone booth.
“Just take me back 1,980 years to Fluttershy’s house.”
“Well okay there mister impatient!” He said as he went inside with me. The crowd began to chatter about the contraption. He pressed the numbers on the keyboard as they showed up on the screen. He then pulled the door shut and then pulled a lever on the side of the control panel. He turned, smiled at me and said:
“Now watch the magic begin!” A flash of bright white and rainbow light filled my eyes. I saw nothing and felt weightless for a little bit. Then boom, I was back at Fluttershy’s house. I looked at myself. I was unaffected by the time travel. I walked out of the machine followed by Dr. Whooves.
“Here you are. You’re here.” He said checking his machine for any sort of damage. I watched him look over every square inch of the thing. A little overkill but better safe than sorry.
“So what was it you came here for?” He said as he turned to me.
“Nothing really i…”
“You what?” He said making a questioning facial expression.
“I-I'll be right back…” I said as I ran to the house.
I looked into the windows to see me and Sky on the couch with Fluttershy tending to Angel. I walked to the door and went to knock on it. I thought for a short amount of time, but then gained the courage to knock. I answered the door.
“Um, Hello. I haven’t seen you before WOAH!” My past self said as I pulled him outside.
“I am you that’s why! Listen, in a few days a group of Saddle Arabians will knock on your door.”
“That’s okay, they are afraid of me.”
“No, they aren’t. They are rebels. They will kill anypony who stands between them and you.”
“What are you talking about?!”
“Im talking about the death of Sky!” I said as I showed him my necklace.
“Wait… you are me…” He said touching the necklace.
“You have to kill them before they kill Sky. Got it?” I said as I started to tear up. “Now go!” I said as I shoved him towards the door.
“What do I do though?” he asked.
“Do what you tell yourself to do. Don’t think about what will happen other than Sky's life being taken.”
“How do I know?”
“Know what?”
“Know whats right.”
“You'll tell yourself whats right when the time comes.” I said as I put my hoof on his shoulder. “Just make sure she lives, okay?”
“O-okay.”
“Now go save Sky so you don’t end up in the life of misery.” I said as I walked away. I went back to see if Dr. Whooves was still there, and he was, still playing with buttons or so it seemed.
“Back so soon?” He said.
“Lets just go back. Now.” I demanded. I wanted to see how life would be if Sky would’ve lived. Maybe I wouldn’t be so damn miserable the whole time.
“So demanding…” He mumbled as he pulled the lever again. Light overwhelmed my eyes the same as before. This time I was ready for it and shut my eyes. I could see it now. My past self saving Sky and the rebels getting what they deserved. This was gonna be great! The machine landed back to Ponyville. I opened the door in excitement to see… Where was everypony?
“Uh oh…” Said Dr. Whooves.
“Where is everything! Why is everything so dark now?!”
“We must have done something to the past to effect the future. Tell me, what did you do?”
“N…Nothing!” I said trying not to show I was lying.
“You did something sir!”
“I…I did do something… I prevented my girlfriend from being killed…”
“Oh… I'm sorry… but… we have to go back.” We turned to go back and we saw that the machine had been vandalized and stripped of parts.
“What?! Who would do such a thing?!” Said Dr. Whooves.
“Wait… we can't go back now?! We are stuck here?!” I looked around at Ponyville. It was turned into a wasteland. Buildings crumbled in the wind leaving only piles of rubble where they once stood. I began to realize how royally fucked I was now.
“We have to change this back!” I said while pulling on Dr. Whooves’ tie in distress.
“Now, now there Monarch. If I can find the parts I need we can get back.”
We began to look over the ruins of whatever happened to ponyville. We walked to the castle. It was drained of its color. It was now a dark and gloomy tower falling apart before our eyes. I pushed gently on the door but It just fell off its hinges and on to the ground.
“Oh my sweet Celestia!” I said as I covered my mouth to keep from throwing up. There was Celestia and Luna's rotting corpses lying together.
“They must have protected themselves longer than anyone else. Look. They’re not as deteriorated as them. He pointed to skeletons with bits of flesh hanging onto the bones. I threw up then. Not only because it was gross… It was because I caused this by changing one thing from the past, but how did this change the future this drastically?
“Should we… burry them?” I asked Dr. Whooves.
“Well it’s the right thing I guess.” He replied. He went to pick up Celestia but he didn’t want to touch her. So I guess I played funeral service then, picking up both Celestia and Luna with magic since I'm a little squeamish with dead things. I carried them outside and looked for a spot that looked like we could bury the bodies. I decided to start digging at the foot of the castle. It took long enough to dig just one bone using our hooves like a dog to pull the dirt up then push the dirt back on them the same way. I decided to arrange rocks in the shape of a sun on Celestia's and a moon on Luna's just so they had some sort of headstone. I backed away to stand by Dr. Whooves.
“Well…” I said holding back tears.
“I just don’t know what went wrong…” Said Dr. Whooves as he started to shed a tear that fell at the foot of the princesses’ graves.
We needed a place to stay so we decided to go into the castle. We propped the doors back up with furniture around the lobby. We then continued to walk inside. It was not a happy place anymore. All of its color seemed to fade away as the floor cracked as we walked. We made it to the door of Celestia's room. I opened the door and heard a crash.
“What was that?” Ask Dr. Whooves.
“A trap.” I said. A bottle was hung on a string on the door so when opened it would break. “Not exactly a trap. It’s more like a warning.” I decided to keep going into the room. I saw the bed, nothing looked better than it at the moment. I laid down on the bed. Dr. Whooves was looking about the room in the drawers and dressers.
“Why are you going through their stuff?” I asked.
“Well, the world has gone to hell already. So why not take useful things here and there.” He said as he looked through a drawer.
“Put you hooves up!” Said a bright gray unicorn stallion with white and gold hair as he walked out of the closet. He had a gun.
A gun!?
One of the most unseen things in Equestria.
“Now!” He said as he pulled the hammer back. We both quickly lifted our front hooves to the air.
“What are you two doing here?! Especially an Alicorn!” he said as he studied me. “Wait… Monarch?”
“Uhh yeah?” I questioned.
“Yo…your dead!” He said as he pointed the gun at me.
“Woah! Hold up!” I said. “I can explain as long as you can tell me what the fuck happened here!”
“Fine.” He said as he lowered the gun. “Come on out!” A filly then walked out of the closet. She was very light blue with a gold mane. She was a Pegasus. Very young… I was amazed to see she was still alive in this wasteland.
“Now… what happened here do you say? Heh… long story. Long time ago you, Monarch, decided to call the Royal Guard on some suspicious Saddle Arabian ponies. They were then captured and held in cells. The Saddle Arabians then wanted them to be released immediately, but we couldn’t let them go that easy. We decided to hold them longer for interrogation purposes. They all said nothing so one day one of the guard members decided to use force to get one to speak. Big mistake. This outraged the Saddle Arabians, and we all know that they are one of the leaders in atomic and nuclear weapons.” Said the gray unicorn.
“But how did they get the technology for that?” asked Dr. Whooves.
“They bought it from secret organizations that called themselves the Scorpions. Every time they bought it. They shipped it right to them. They then got the blue prints for all of these weapons of mass destruction. Did they know how it worked? Yes, did they know what I did? No… They ended up bombing Ponyville once. That bomb destroyed small homes and businesses. The royal guard then was notified but they were no match. Saddle Arabian pegasi by the hundreds flew the bombs over to Ponyville and started to blow us to bits. The only safe place was near this castle. Celestia and Luna combined their magic to create a force field to help make it so the shock waves nor bombs could get to us... but after so many years… Luna died leaving Celestia alone to protect her people. She died just about a week later. Many ponies went to the Crystal Kingdom such as princess Twilight. Them two were there to protect the kingdom. Are they still there? No one knows, but their force field still stands but for another reason.”
“What would that reason be?” I asked.
“The bombs caused a fungus to rapidly mutate. This fungus before mutation took dead insects and brought them to life to bring them to another place only to use its basic functions. Eat and sleep, but now the dead ponies that got this fungus are now 'Zombies' almost.”
“Wait so they are alive again?”
“No, the fungus takes over the body and uses it to transport itself.”
“How do you get infected?”
“Spores that you breathe in can cause the fungus to grow in your insides. But being bit by an infected… also will do it too.” He said as he looked at the filly. She began to rub her back were a bite mark was.
“She's infected!” Yelled Dr. Whooves.
“Now calm down. She's been like that for two years now.”
“So… she's immune?”
“I'm hoping she is immune, cause then we could possibly find a cure for this.”
“Well Its my turn to explain. I am Monarch and He is Dr. Whooves.”
“He's not the Dr. Whooves I remember.”
“Your right” Said Dr. Whooves. “I'm Dr. Whooves the Third. I'm here cause of this guy.” He said as he looked at me.
“Hey man don’t put this on me even though it is my fault.” I said. “Well anyways… We are here because we went back in time to save somepony from dying. It ended up causing this though.”
“So you are from the future?”
“Yes, yes we are.” I said looking back at the filly to see its bite mark.
“Well, I guess I can believe that.”
“He has my parts!” Yelled Dr. Whooves.
“Woah dude watch how you word some things.” I said trying to make a joke.
“No! The parts to my time machine!” He said as he pointed to the closet. There they were. The control unit, the fusion generator, and the main processor unit from the computer. He went to get them back but was stopped.
“One more step and I'll blow your brains out.” Said the unicorn pointing the gun at him.
“You don’t need those! We do!”
“Heh, you two are gonna have to earn them back.”
“What are you talking about?!’’
“I'm talking I need to do work that required stallions like us to complete. Do you see anyone of my squad here?!”
“Squad?...”
“Yes squad. I'm part of P.O.N.Y.”
“And that is?”
“Ponies Of Nuclear Years.”
“Sounds kind of fake to me.”
“Well think all you want. Its been here forever to fight against the Scorpions.”
“Doctor…just do what the stallion says.” I said.
“The is bullshit…” mumbled Dr. Whooves.
“Now tomorrow, we will go to town to acquire a carriage. Then after that you will earn one of your parts back. Okay?”
“Fine with me.” I said.
“Fuck that!” Said Dr. Whooves. “ I'm not gonna…” I put my hoof over his mouth.
“Just shut up and fucking do it if you ever wanna get home.”
“Now get some rest you two.” He said as he put out the candles.
The next day.
We awoke to the unicorn shouting “Get up ladies! Rise and Shine! We got work to do!” We both got up to see him and the filly with all kinds of weapons spread out on the floor.
“Take what you need and lets go.” He said as he filled his saddle bag with shotgun shells.
“Your trusting us with these?”
“Yeah. You point the gun at me I'll break your precious time machine parts.”
“Sounds fair to me.” I said looking at all the guns. I never really shot a gun before, but The cross bow I have. I picked up the cross bow looking through its mounted scope. I liked it, but I need to get a gun. I picked up a 6-gun. I thought hey can be that hard to work right? Dr. Whooves chose his guns also. He chose more of a sub machine gun class.
“What about her?” I asked as I pointed at the filly.
“Lily is fine as long as we protect her. Got it?”
“Got it.” We then walked to the castle entrance and moved the furniture away.
“So I never got your names.” I said trying to start conversation.
“Overwhelming Light, and this is Lily” I kept thinking if she was his daughter or just somepony he decided to save.
“So where did you get all these guns?” asked Dr. Whooves.
“Well when the world goes to shit, people will do anything for safety. Me, I went and bought out a small gun salesman in Ponyville.” After moving all the furniture we pushed the door open that wasn’t broken. We looked outside. There was barely any light at all.
“Where's the sun? Its early shouldn’t it be rising?” I asked because I remember it being this dark last night.
“Well, after the Princesses died there is no control over the sun and moon. It kind of randomly does its own thing.” replied Overwhelming Light.
We kept going to Ponyville. When we got closer we saw the destruction that the Saddle Arabians caused. Buildings just seems like cardboard forts and any form of life was taken away.
“In here.” Light pointed to a carriage shop. We went in to see a strange fungus covering the interior.
“Shit! Put these on!” Said Overwhelming light as he gave us all gas masks. “Don’t breath in the spores from the fungus. It will cause you to turn into one of them freaks.”
I heard somepony or something moving in the upstairs room. I then heard the sound of hoof steps coming down stairs. There was one of them. Rotting flesh with hollow black eyes covered in the fungus. The body was nothing but a puppet without a master.
“Stay quiet. It can't find us if it can't hear us.” Said Overwhelming Light as he crept to the back door of the shop. I followed and made it to the door along with Lily. I waved Dr. Whooves over. He was scared out of his mind. He was shaky and stumbled across the floor tripping and breaking one of the glass jars. The infected then turned and let out a blood curdling yell. Its mouth now opening in four different parts and having rows of teeth like a shark.
“Run!” Yelled overwhelming light as he shot the infected pony as the rest of us ran outside.
“What the fuck was that?!” Asked Dr. Whooves.
“That there is what I call a screamer. Its one of the most rare of the infected. Sorry it had to be the first one you saw.” He said shining his gun with a rag. “Now lets find us a carriage.”
We went over to the nearest one seeing if it was completely built.
“Lets take this one.” I said playing with the harness.
“That’s not the carriage you want after you see this one.” Overwhelming Light said as he walked over to a large white cover. He pulled the cover off to unveil a motorized carriage with a mounted machine gun of it.
“Holy fucking hell!” I said walking to it.
“This here is my creation. It was here to be fixed but since the outbreak of the fungus I haven’t been able to get it.”
“Pretty impressive but what does it run on?” Asked Dr. Whooves.
“Well there is two solar panels to charge the battery. But guess what, no sun. The engine is out of a machine from the mill. This here is the steering wheel. Self explanatory, and this… this is the biggest baddest gun you will ever see left.” He said holding the machine gun.
“So I'm guessing this is made to be a war vehicle.” I said.
“War against those fucking freaks yeah.” He said as he shot one bullet off into the air. “Get on. You Monarch, you gun. Doctor, you and Lily will also gun but from your seats. Me, I'm driving this bitch!” He said turning a key and igniting the engine to hear a roar of pure power. He revved the engine as we got in. Once we sat down he said this before hitting the throttle making us do a wheelie. “Get in! Hold on! And shut up!” we flew out of the back lot of the carriage shop heading towards the paths in Ponyville filled with the infected.
“Shoot em up Monarch!” He yelled. I pulled the trigger and the gun fired automatically. I aimed at each individual infected mowing them down.
“Good shootin’!” He said looking back with a smile. I guess I learned how to use a gun real quick there.
We went to the castle after the path was cleared.
“Where are we going now?” I asked.
“First we are going to get our guns and belongins' from the castle then its off the saddle Arabia!”
“Why there?!”
“There's secret underground bunkers from the war there. It has food and water and even more guns!”
“Shit. Guys wake up.” Said Overwhelming light. I opened my eyes and arose from the seat to see a mountain range.
“McIntosh Mountains. Been here before. No really good way to take the carriage.” Said. Dr. Whooves.
“Should we try it?” Asked Overwhelming Light.
“If you think you can then do it.” I said eager to return back to my time. Truth is I missed Luna. She was truly the only one of my friends that I actually don’t mind being with. But now, I'm stuck with a gun lover and a scientist.
“Hold on!” He said as he gassed the throttle on the carriage heading up a path made for ponies to hike on.
“Couldn’t we have simply went around it?!” Asked Dr. Whooves.
“Now what's the fun in that?!” Yelled Overwhelming Light as he put his arm around Lilly. She giggled and smiled at him. I still couldn’t figure out if that was his kid or not and if so… where's her mom? I didn’t want to ask so I just held the fuck on.
“Grab onto something!”
“What?” I said as we hit a hill. It sent the carriage soaring through the air. I fell off but caught myself with my wings. I flew back onto the carriage’s gun mount.
“A little bit earlier of a warning would’ve been nice!” He just laughed at the fact I was scared out of my mind.
We then approached a bridge. Not a great looking one either. It was held together with ropes and loose wooden planks. We stopped in front of it.
“Now what?” I asked.
“Well. We are gonna have to find another way around.”
“Just hold on.” I said trying to remember how to do magic spells. I then tried to do a simple levitation spell on the carriage. I picked it up off the ground about 4 feet.
“Great thinking there Monarch!” Said Overwhelming Light happier than hell.
I then moved the carriage to the other end of the bridge. I decided not to walk across the bridge but fly over it instead.
“Your magic is pretty strong now!” said Dr. Whooves.
“Better than when I first started.” I replied getting back onto the gun mount. We then proceeded to Saddle Arabia this time, Down the mountain.
“Oh boy!” Said Overwhelming light.
“What?” I said.
“Huge fucking jumps!” He said as he pushed the gas pedal to the floor. This time I held on for dear life along with Dr. Whooves but Lilly, she just sat there smiling. We hit the first hill that probably sent us about 20 feet to the next one. This one was larger but at a sharper point.
“Oh Shit!” I yelled as the carriage was sent soaring over a small lake imbedded in the mountain. We landed on to the other side of the lake and he stopped.
“You girls alright?!” He asked.
“Are you fucking nuts?! We could’ve been killed!” Yelled Dr. Whooves as he shook in his seat. Overwhelming Light just laughed and got out of the carriage turning it off.
“Where are you going?!” Asked Dr. Whooves. He didn’t answer. He just walked over to the lake.
“Damn…”
“What?”
“The water supply was poisoned along with any trees that bare fruit.”
“What do you mean?”
“Those damn sand asses tried to kill us all!” Yelled Overwhelming Light scaring us all. “Look. Sorry but those Saddle Arabians are horrible ponies.”
Great I thought. A racist unicorn. This will definitely end well for him if he ever comes in contact with Saddle Arabians. He then came back to the carriage.
“Fucking sand suckers.” He mumbles as he drove off. I was getting really tired. I had trouble keeping my eyes open. I ended up falling asleep curled up on my seat. I started to dream about my life back in my time. I was back with Luna on my bed again. She was cuddling against me. I then thought what Sky said to me… I had to move on to another pony if she died or else I would be in eternal hell. Luna was the only pony I could think of in the dream. But when I looked back down it wasn’t Luna… It was Sky. She was looking up at me. Her face then went into sadness as she started to cry.
“Why did you let them kill me…” She said as I saw blood start to come out of her eyes and mouth as she turned into a infected. She then opened her mouth to let out a scream at me. I felt the spit hit my face as I flinched and tried to move away.
“Monarch! Get up man!” said Overwhelming Light as he shook the shit out of me. I got up and wiped the drool off my face. My heart was pounding in my chest.
“You okay there Alicorn?” He asked looking at me.
“Just… Just a bad dream.” I replied still thinking of how broken sky was in my dream… I looked at my necklace holding it in my hoof. I wish you could just come back I thought…
“Hoofston up ahead!” Said Dr. Whooves. I looked out to see the place. It looked just like pony ville. Crumbling and falling apart every minute of the day. We entered the place in the carriage.
“Here's a hospital. I'm gonna go in and look for supplies. Monarch, your with me. Whooves, you protect Lilly with your life. Got It?!”
“Y-Yes sir!” He stuttered as he pulled out his gun.”
“Lets move.” Said Overwhelming Light as we walked to the door of the hospital. He shot the lock and kicked in the door. He pressed a button on his gun witch turned on a flashlight. Mine had it too. I turned mine on to see a dead pony lying on the ground.
“Shit! Stay close, this place might still have infected inside.” Said Overwhelming Light as he led the way through the hallways of the hospital.
“We need to find the power.”
“How would you like to do that?”
“Well usually its in the basement. We should find our way to there.”
Great a fucking basement. Dark and scary as fuck.
“Hold up.”
“What?”
“Hear that?”
“What?”
“Infected up ahead.”
“Great.” I said as we headed towards the stairs. We went down one flight to see a pool of blood surrounding a dead nurse with a infected feeding on her.
BOOM!
Overwhelming Light shot it right between the eyes.
“Lets keep going.” He went down the stairs as I followed. We approached a door labeled: Power Room.
“Well I'll be damned. Found it.” He said as he opened the door. He fired a few times taking out a few infected. I walked in to see him taking guns off of them and putting them into his saddle bag.
“Well. Nice guns, ugly ass.” He said as he kicked the body over into the corner. He then walked over and pulled the power switch. The generators fired up, creating a loud grinding sound. Lights flickered on to reveal the interior of the hospital.
“Awesome! Still works!” I said.
“One of the only things that still work.” He said walking out of the room.
“Hello? Can anyone hear me?” A voice said over the intercom. “We are trapped in the laboratory on the 3rd floor. You made it to the power room, so you could make it to us. We can provide food, water, and medical treatment. Just please save us.” It then faded out.
“Well.” I said looking at Overwhelming light.
“Looks like were gonna play hero.” He said cocking his shotgun and walking up the stairs. Infected ran after us blood dripping from their mouths.
“Light em up!” He yelled as we fired countless shots into them. They each fell to the ground with a very audible thud.
We went up to the 2nd floor. The staircase to the third floor was at the other end of the hall.
“Lets run for it!” He said pulling out his pistol. I ran along side him as infected ran towards us. We dropped them to the ground firing bullets into their skulls. We then went to the doors of the staircase. We pushed but they didn’t move.
“Shit!” I said as I felt the ground shaking. Every time it shook it felt like footsteps. Something big was coming. I watched as it arose from the stairs at the other end of the hall. It was a mass of ponies held together by the fungus. Its head was the head of one of its victims, eyes wide open. The rest of its body were ponies morphed together to look like a giant pony.
“Holy Fuck!” Overwhelming Light yelled as he ran into one of the hospital rooms. I followed. He locked the door and pushed the bed up against it.
“What now?” I asked.
“We fight like stallions.” he said pulling out hand grenades and a grenade launcher. “Ready?”
“Ready.” I said scared as fuck. He moved the bed, and kicked down the door.
“Take this you fucking freak!” He said as he threw a grenade at it. It rolled to its feet as it roared through the corridor. The grenade went off with a load bang. One of its legs was blown off.
“Fuck yeah!” Overwhelming Light yelled.
“Uh… you might wanna look.” I said as the monster reattached it limb from the floor. It let out a roar as it charged to us.
“Its head! Aim for its head!” Light yelled as I raised the grenade launcher. I fired the grenade into its head as it charged. Its head exploded on impact along with the rest of its body. It didn’t seem to try and revive itself anymore so we decided to go look at it.
“This is fucking crazy… now they can fuse themselves together?” I asked.
“Nope…. No… Fuck…. Ass…. Fuck…. Nipples….” He said as he tried each key.
“You want help with that?” I asked.
“Nope… damn… fuck…. Yes! Finally!” He said as the doors flew open.
We went up the stairs to see rooms on the right and a large blacked out room on the left.
“That has to be the lab!” He said running to it. He went to open the door, when a ceiling tile fell onto the floor scaring him.
“The fuck?” He said as a infected jumped from the ceiling along with many others. “Aww look Monarch, they wanna play some more!!” He then pulled out a tomahawk and threw it into the head of an infected as it ran towards him, he then pulled out a pistol, smacking the next infected with the handle crushing its skull. The next infected came running towards him, he pulled the pin from a grenade and shoved it into its eye socket, shoving it back into the crowd of infected.
“Get down!” He yelled diving down. I got down and heard the grenade go off. I looked up to see a blood splatter all over the ceiling, floor, and walls.
“Now, about that lab.” He said brushing off bits of the infected on him. He walked over to the door and started going through keys again.
“Nope… no… shit…”
The door then opened to reveal a nurse scared out of her mind.
“Other survivors! Come in! come in!” She said as we waved me in.
The lab was full of nurses, no doctors. Still there was food, water, and medical supplies.
“You guys aren’t hurt are you?” She asked.
“Well um… I don’t think so.” I said as I looked at her.
“M…Monarch?!” She said as she dropped to her knees and bowed.
“Um… I'm not exactly royalty but…”
“Boy. I think it's time you knew what you became before you died in this time.” Overwhelming Light said as he sat down in a office chair, shining his pistol.
The Red Heart Treatment
I sat down to hear what he had to say. The nurses also gathered around us.
“Well… after the outbreak you decided to join the Royal Guard. You then became so powerful, you took over the whole equestrian forces to help stop the Saddle Arabians. I looked at it to see her name signed on the bottom. Everyone just sat there until one of the nurses spoke up. “So how are you back?”
“Him and his friend went back in time to save his woman but fucked up the future but their time machine needs parts that I have and they have to earn them back from me.”
“Why don’t you just give them back now! All of this can end!”
“Its cause I don’t know whats going to happen to Lilly.” He said very stern to me. “I need this work done and my squad is gone and you two are perfect to help me out.” I started to think of what will happen to this world if we go back in time and change the past back to the way it was and made the future normal again…
“So your telling me there's more of you?” She asked.
“Oh right, Ill be back!” Light said as he went to retrieve the others. I was left alone in a room full of mares…
“Wheres all the doctors?” I asked.
“They saved us and they ended up becoming… one of them things.” She said.

“The others think you went with me to find something I needed.”

“What are you doing!” I yelled as I looked to see all the nurses tied up and gagged.
“They attacked us.” Said Dr. Whooves as he put Lilly on his back.
“Damn bitches! Cant trust em!” Said Light as he tied this nurse up.
“Wait I said said as I pointed to the notebook on the floor. “They aren’t crazy, their drugged.”
Light looked at the notebook and said. “I'll be damned.”
“Guess we should untie them?” Asked Dr. Whooves.
“No!” Said the nurse I was with. “I'll take care of them.” She said as I untied her. “Hello stallions and you young lady.” She said as she walked to the other nurses. “Well I’m Redheart.”
“Well I'm Dr. Whooves, this is Lilly, Overwhelming Light, and Monarch.”
“So what do you fellows need?” She asked.
“We originally came for food and medication.” I said.
“Well I can give you what we have left.” She said going through pantries and cupboards grabbing anything useful. “You wanna stay the night?” She asked.
“That would be great.” Said light still shining his damn gun spinning in his office chair.
She got us hospital beds and put them all together. “Here you go! By tomorrow Ill have your things ready okay?”
“Okay.” I said as I laid back on the bed. I turned to Light. “Hey, can I ask you something?”
“Yeah sure.”
“Is Lilly-“
“No shes not mine. I rescued her in Ponyville. She was running from the infected when I found her.”
“Oh…” I said as I started to see him and her the same as me and Fluttershy. “Can she talk?”
“Well yeah but she's very shy. Now can you just go to sleep already?” He said as he rolled over.
“Yeah um… sorry.” I closed my eyes to go to sleep. I awoke in a dream a few minutes later in my room back in Celestia's castle. Luna was there, this time she was crying. “How could you do that with another mare! She cried. “How could you! I thought we were something!” She then started to turn into Sky… Sky then looked up at me and said ‘’I see you moved on… guess you don’t need this anymore.” She took the necklace off of me and then turned to ashes then fell through my hoofs.
I then awoke beside Light and Dr. Whooves. My heart racing and my skin sweating. I felt something on my rear legs though. I looked down to see Lilly, sleeping between my legs using my stomach as a pillow. I thought to myself… What will happen to her if I left now?
