Rarity walked off the train at the Appaloosa station. The sun was shining and the birds were tweeting. Rarity smiled, as she inhaled the sweet smell of apple pie, mixed with the slightly tangy smell of fritters. She trotted down the street towards a little café. That is where she was going to meet Breaburn, Applejacks...rather handsome cousin. The small town were putting on a play of the fight with the buffalo for Princesses. It seemed that the Princesses were rather interested in what had happened that day. Rarity was meeting with Breaburn to discuss costume ideas. She walked into the little café and was hit with the smell of apples, vegetables and the sound of ponies laughing. She spotted Breaburn in the corner and trotted over to him.
"Howdy Rarity, m'lady, how are you doing this fine day?"
"Very well thank you dear, how are you?"
"Im just grand thanks, would you like something to eat?"
"Oh yes please, it all smells simply divine"
They ordered some food and chatted until it arrived. Rarity had a slice of apple cheesecake with apple sauce and Breaburn had a slice of apple pie and cream. Rarity took a bite of her cheesecake and smiled. The sweet of the base mixed with the tart toppings contrasted perfectly. She made a mental note to buy some to take home with her. Once they had finished their treats they started talking about the costumes.
"So I was thinking some costumes that pie wouldn't stick on, I don't think that the actors would like to be covered in pie the whole time" Rarity started
"I must say that is a dandy idea mam"
"well thank you, what colours should I be using?"
"well browns, blacks, greys, dark greens, anything neutral"
"what about the buffalo, what do you want those actors to look like?"
"Well the real buffalo are playing that part, they said that if they do we wont have to give them pie for the next few weeks" Breaburn said, happily
"alright then, I shall go and get started, thank you Breaburn, this was lovely"
Rarity left the café while Breaburn just sat there with a goofy, love struck look on his face. On her way home rarity stopped in at a fabric shop to pick up a few bits and bobs. As she was rummaging through the fabrics she found a beautiful silk. It was black with diamonds threaded through it. It looked as if someone had taken the night sky and rolled it round a tube. After rummaging a while more, she found the same sort of fabric, except it was white with gold crystals. She purchased the fabric for the outfits and the special fabric and trotted home.
3 day time gap
Breaburn trotted over to the B&B Rarity was staying in and rang the bell. Once he had been given her room number he trotted off to find it. Once he was outside her room he knocked on the door
"Just coming dear" she called. After a few seconds Rarity opened the door.
"Oh Breaburn, the costumes are right over here"
"That's just dandy, lets get them over to the stage"
"Ok, I shall be a few moments"
She came back with eight extra dresses. Breaburn couldn't tell what they were because they were all in bags. Breaburn shook his head and led her to the stage. Rarity headed back stage to help the actors and buffalo get ready then whizzed out in a blur when the princesses arrived. Just as the play was starting she went over and sat beside Breaburn.
The curtains closed and the audience gave a huge cheer. Sherriff Sliverstar walked onto stage and gave a short speech.
"Thank you all for coming today, and thank you to the Princesses as well. We are honered that you would come to our small town to watch this. I would also like to thank Miss Rarity for the wonderful outfits. There is cake and pie in the town square if everypony would like some"
Everypony cheered and walked over in the direction of town square.
"You coming Miss Rarity?" Breaburn asked
" Yes, just a moment" replied Rarity, with a confused look on her face. As she walked behind Breaburn she thought to herself about her feelings.
'Do I like him? I think I do, those green eyes seem to stare right into my heart, his golden coat shines like gold, *sigh*'
She smiled and trotted to catch up with the stallion she liked. Once they had some apple cake they went to a quiet spot under a tree by a lake.
Rarity smiled "Its beautiful here, isn't it"
"Yeah, beautiful" Breaburn agreed looking at her.
"Breaburn, I have to tell you something, I....uh...well...you see... I thi-mmph!"
Breaburn leaned in a kissed her. Rarity gave an inward gasp, then settled into it. When he broke away he smiled,
"What were you trying to say?"
"I think I might love you" She said, blushing
"I love you to" his smile turned into a frown, "just one thing"
"What is it dear?" Rarity asked, concerned
"How are we going to tell Applejack?!"
They both laughed as the watched the sun set on a wonderful day.
Back in Ponyville
Applejack read the letter again, then smiled to herself.
"Well what do ya know, The princess and the cowboy, that's one I didn't expect"
The night of the Grand Galloping Gala, 2 years after BB and Rarity declared their love for each other
Breaburn waited at the bottom of the stairs at Canterlot Castle for the girls. He was wearing a Black Suit with a ruby tie. He turned round as he hear hoof steps behind him. Twilight, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rainbowdash, Pinkiepie, Princess Celestia, Princess Luna and Rarity walked down the steps. Breaburn's eyes skimmed over them all, but only taking in Rarity and the Princesses. Celestia was wearing a long dress that was made of white fabric with gold gems. Her long, flowing hair had golden flowers threaded through it. Luna had on a similar dress to Celsetia except hers was black with white shining diamonds, and her blue floating hair was brushed so that it reflected the light of the castle.
"Hello darling" rarity said to him
"You look beautiful Rarity" he murmured. Her dress reached the floor and had a small train. It was the same shade of ruby as his tie, and had a golden trim.
"Would you like to dance m'lady?" he asked
"Of course sire" she smiled
They danced the away and just as the night was coming to a close Breaburn walked onto the stage and Spoke into the mic.
"Hey everypony, I hope you have enjoyed this wonderful evening. I know I have, because I have spent it with the most beautiful mare on the planet. Rarity, could you come up here?"
Now all eyes were on Rarity as she walked onto the stage with a confused look on her face
"This, everypony, is the most wonderful mare in the world, and I would like to ask her something" he turned to Rarity "Rarity, every since I set eyes on you, I knew you were the mare for me. You shine like the brightest star in Lunas beautiful night, you are kind, caring and always there for me. I cant imagine my life with you"
He got down and pulled out a small black velvet box. Rarity put one hoof over her mouth, tears in her eyes as she looked at the ring inside. It was gold, with two rubies on either side of a big diamond.
"Rarity, would you make me the happiest stallion alive, and be my bride?" he asked
"Yes, oh Breaburn yes" she said as she kissed him.
The hall erupted into cheers as everypony celebrated the engagement.
And that my friends, is the end of the road. Rarity and Breaburn got married and had a lovely little filly, Golden Apple.
