It was just another day at Canterlot High School. Flash Sentry pulled up outside the school in his car with his band-mate and best friend, Drum Solo.
"Thanks for the ride man!" Drum waved to his friend as he went into the school. "You not coming in, bro?" he asked.
"In a minute." Flash called back. "I'm waiting for Sunset Shimmer, we need to talk."
This caused every student who could hear Flash to gasp in shock. By Flash's tone, they knew what was coming. Flash and Sunset Shimmer had been dating since 8th grade, when they were both 14, now they were Juniors, both 17, Sunset Shimmer used to be a nice girl up until around the Fall Formal of Sophomore year, she had let the popularity of winning the Fall Formal twice in a row go to her head and bullied anyone in sight, except for her boyfriend, Flash.
Eventually, Sunset arrived off the bus and ran over to Flash the minute she saw him.
"Flashy!" She giggled. "I picked out my dress for the Fall Formal last night and I got you a matching bow tie!"
"Listen, Sunset, I need to tell you something." Flash began, nervously, he knew that if he didn't put this right he might have to spend first period in Nurse Redheart's office.
"What is it?" She asked with a smile that only Flash could bring out.
"Well, um, wait, you got your dress?" He asked.
"Yeah! It goes with that purse I bought last week, remember I showed it to you?" She smiled.
"Yeah, I just wanted to tell you that I, ummm, that I got my suit!" Flash lied, there was nobody outside, if he was going to break up with Sunset Shimmer, he was going to need witnesses.
"Oh, ok, I'd better go inside, first period starts in 15 minutes." Sunset smiled to her soon to be ex-boyfriend.

"Hey man, how did it go?" Drum asked Flash after they had left History.
"I couldn't do it." Flash sighed. "She has her dress for the Fall Formal, a matching purse and she bought me a matching bow tie. I should have done this before all this Fall Formal drama started, then maybe she wouldn't get so violent."
"Or you could wait until after the Fall Formal and then dump her." Drum suggested.
"No, she'd still kill me if she knew I took her to the formal and I didn't even love her. And I'm not dumping her, I'm letting her down as easy as I can." Flash argued.
The bell rang again and Flash said goodbye to his buddy and headed for Music, his first class of the day with Sunset, and he sat beside her!
"Ok Everybody, settle down!" Ms. Cadence announced from her desk in the music room, which was basically the auditorium stage with the curtains drawn.
"Principal Celestia and I are still looking for someone to play live music at the Fall Formal in 3 weeks, all the performers in Canterlot are booked for that night, so I agreed with Principal Celestia that I should ask some of my Junior music students if any of them would like to volunteer, you are one of the most talented music classes I have ever had and I think you could make this one of the best Fall Formals since the school was opened." the yound music teacher announced.
Sunset Shimmer raised her hand and stood up after Ms. Cadence pointed to her with a smile.
"I think I should preform, what better way to celebrate my coronation than to have a live performance from the Fall Formal Princess herself?" She suggested.
"That's a good idea, Sunset." Cadence smiled, she then looked a Flash, who was sitting at his desk trying to think of the best way to break up with Sunset Shimmer and not get hurt.
"Flash!" the teacher said, suddenly. "I do believe you and some of your friends have recently formed a band, maybe you could perform, and maybe Sunset Shimmer could sing with you." she suggested
"That's a great idea, Ms. Cadence! But then again, Flash's band is a rock band, I don't do rock." She said.
"I know! We can have a vote!" Ms. Cadence announced enthusiastically. "All in favor of Flash Sentry and his band performing at the Fall Formal, raise your hands.
Almost everyone in the class raised their hands and Cadence stood up on her desk and counted the amount of hands.
"21!" She said. "And all in favor of Sunset Shimmer" She said.
Snips and Snails, Sunset Shimmer's 2 lackeys, raised their hands at the back of the room, they knew if they didn't they would be in trouble.
Cadence smiled and took out her notebook and wrote a note "Only 2 people wanted Sunset Shimmer to perform, so I guess Flash wins. Flash, if you wouldn't mind taking this note to Principal Celestia's office after class, It's just to let her know I've booked a performance."
"Great!" Flash thought to himself, now not only was he breaking up with Sunset, who had already bought her dress for the Fall Formal, he had just beat her out to performing at the Formal, something she'd always wanted to do. He was in serious trouble now.

At lunch in the cafeteria, Flash and his friends sat down at a table where Sunset was waiting.
"Um, could you guys give me and Sunset a bit of privacy for a minute?" Flash asked, he was shaking, it was time to man up and do this, he couldn't be with Sunset Shimmer any longer. He could still remember the dissapproving looks he had gotten at the Spring Fling after he had taken Sunset Shimmer after what she had done to Rarity for signing up to run for Princess. All the guys stood up at once and left. They knew what was about to go down and didn't want to be involved. Some people from nearby tables seemed to dissapear as well, it was just Flash and Sunset now.
"Listen, Sunset, we've been dating for a few years now, and I think we've really gotten to know each other, and we've grown a lot since 8th grade, and we've both changed, but, you've changed a lot more than I have." Flash said, if he shook any harder he could have made his chair vibrate as well.
"Flash, please don't say this is what I think it is." Sunset begged, a single tear forming in her eye.
"Sunset, you've turned into a bully since we started dating, and I don't want to be friends, let alone go out with someone who makes everyone in Canterlot High miserable, you don't realise how much you're hurting people, so, I think It's best if we broke up."
Sunset stared down at her table for a few seconds, then looked up at Flash, more angry than she had ever been, Flash could see tears rolling down her face.
"Flash" was all she said. But that changed quickly. She stood up.
"Flash Sentry! How dare you break up with me?!" she yelled at the top of her voice, the whole cafeteria was now focused on the former couple.
"And to think, I've been so nice to you all these years! All the stuff I did for you, I was the one who got you into Glee Club back in Middle School, I got you that car! I saved you from detention back in freshman year. And you have the nerve to dump me?!?"
"Sunset, I-"
"Don't even bother!" Sunset picked up her bottle of water, unscrewed the cap and poured it all over Flash's spiky blue hair.
"And I'm not finished, you better watch you back, Sentry! You. are. dead!" The heartbroken bully stormed out of the cafeteria, quickly followed by Snips and Snails.
The whole cafeteria was silent, eveyone was staring at Flash in shock. Then everyone started cheering and clapping.
"Dude, you finally did it! You dumped Sunset Shimmer like she meant nothing to you!" Drum Solo congratulated his friend.
"Thanks, man. But I have a feeling I'm going to have to watch my back until College. I don't feel safe now. Who knows what Sunset could do to me." Flash sighed.

"Sunset, are you ok in there?" Snips yelled into the girls bathroom.
Sunset Shimmer sat in the corner of the bathroom, crying like a 2 year old who had lost her teddy bear. Flash was the only real friend she had since she had changed her ways, even Snips and Snails were nothing more than some henchmen, Sunset secretly couldn't stand the 2 little losers.
"Just go away and leave me alone!" Sunset screamed out the door.
Sunset was a mess, she had tear stains all over her face, her makeup was running and her favorite top was full of tears. She loved Flash Sentry, she truly did. But obviously he didn't love her anymore.
Then Sunset remembered something. The portal to Equestria is opening in a few weeks! If she can steal that new Princess Twilight Sparkle's Element of Magic, she could become more powerful than Princess Celestia herself, then Flash would be sorry for what she had done to her.
On that day, Sunset Shimmer vowed she would have her revenge!
