Princess Celestia's Invitation
Derpy hooves walked up to a mailbox, a few letters clamped in her mouth. She carefully placed the mail in the box. She didn't want to break it... for the 3rd time. It was successfully placed when she turned around... and accidentally slammed into the side, knocking over the wooden pole the mailbox was on. She gritted her teeth, and reached for the spare quill and paper. she hastily scribbled "Sorry." On the note, and put a few bits in the box. She continued on her route, almost successful except one more damaged box.
Eventually, she arrived at her home. She sighed, hung her mailbag on a peg near her door, and went inside. She walked over to a chair at the table, and plucked a muffin from the tray of fresh muffins. She chomped down on the muffin, spilling a few pieces of paper onto the table, now to look at the mail. Having the mail as soon as she wanted was just one of the benefits of being the mailmare for Ponyville. Derpy first picked up an important looking scroll, marked with a golden seal. She tugged at the seal for a couple of minutes, trying to get it off. "Hmm, what could this be for?" Derpy wondered, finally opening it up, the seal somewhere on the floor now. Derpy gasped as she read the letter.
"Dearest Derpy Hooves, I have heard much about you, and how lovely of a mare you are, especially from your two friends, Lyra and Bon Bon. They say much about your lovely eyes, and your kind heart.. I request a meeting at the palace tommorow at noon. From, Princess Celestia."
"A letter from the princess?" Gasped Lyra.
"Awesome!" Said Bon bon, cheerfully patting Derpy on the back, as they sat around Derpy's table the next morning.
"So, It's at noon?" Asked Lyra curiously.
"Yup, I'm nervous but pretty excited." Derpy confirmed.
"Well, good luck!" Said Bon bon, grinning.
"I think we should give you some lessons on formal etiquette!" Lyra suggested.
"Yeah, I'm sure you have plenty." Bon bon said, rolling her eyes.
Derpy flew out of her door, having finally swallowed her fear and gotten ready to head to Canterlot. She flew by the houses of Ponyville, smiling at the local ponies as some waved at her. She flew for a while, flying through meadows, forests, and over many hills when suddenly, she saw the spectacular city of Canterlot, in all of it's splendor. A moment later, she alighted at the castle's steps, a few minute early. She looked around at the scenery, the nicely trimmed hedges, the marvelous castle too. Eventually, a Royal Guard came through one of the doors, and escorted her to the Princess, who was sitting atop a glamorous throne.
"Good Afternoon, Derpy, how are you?" Asked Celestia.
"I'm good, thank you, and how are you?" Asked Derpy, trying to sound formal.
"Lovely, thanks for asking." Celestia said.
"Let's get to business." Said Celestia, unfolding a paper of some sort. It had a map on it, of somewhere Derpy hadn't heard of. "This is a land previously unexplored. It has just been discovered, and we need somepony to rule it. Because of your kind and understanding spirit, I gift you control of this new land." Celestia said.
"Me? Rule a land of my own? Full of ponies?!" Derpy said, in wonder.
"Yes, you will need this." Celestia said, her magic sending yellow swirls around Derpy, it sparkled and glimmered, rising her up into the air. A bright white spark filled the whole room, almost blinding everyone. As Derpy alighted on the ground again, the yellow sparkle began to create long flowing hair, much like Celestia's. Celestia smiled, looking at the bewildered and startled alicorn.
Derpy examined her legs, they were much longer, and her wings were very spectacular and fancy. Her hair was much like Celestia's and her cutie mark had even seemingly become prettier. She gasped again, as she felt above her head. There was a spectacular long horn atop her head, and it worked! She levitated a crown that was beside Celestia. It was bejeweled with seven pearls, in a shape that looked like her cutie mark, with a large diamond in the center.
"This, is your crown. I also have something else for you." Said Celestia, pulling out a silver necklace with pearls. It matched her crown and was very lovely.
"Oh my... Celestia, How can I ever, ever thank you?" Derpy said, bowing to the princess.
"You don't have to. Thank you, Derpy for being so kind." Celestia said. She handed her a map, one with the new land on it. "This is where it is. I already have ponies working on your grand palace." Celestia said.
"Thanks Celestia! This is the best day ever!" Shouted Derpy, flying up into the air, and accidentally going through the castle roof. "Oops!" she said.
"Well, Derpy, go home, tomorrow's a big day, in other words, your troubles have just started!" Celestia chuckled.
"Okay, seeya Celestia!" Derpy said, unsure of the reactions she would get at home. Meanwhile there were many more thoughts going through her head. "Did I thank her properly, what should I do, did I say something wrong? Is there something I'm forgetting?" Derpy thought, a million of these kind of things going through her head. She sighed, making a stop at Lyra and Bon bon's house.
"Derpy?!?! Is that you?!?" Lyra said, gasping as she saw the alicorn version of Derpy.
"Yeah... It's an interesting story." Said Derpy. She walked inside, ready to tell her friends about the crazy tale she had in store for them.

Here's your cliffhanger! What happens to Derpy?
Derpy stood at her doorstep, letting the wind ruffle the feathers on her wings, and blow her flowing hair. She had a lot on her mind, not only did she need to reveal herself to Ponyville, but she and Celestia had plans as well. She took a deep breath, and trotted down the steps and turned onto the road, which was surprisingly quiet. A moment later, Lyra popped out of the bushes. "Oh! Hi Lyra." Derpy said, startled.
"Bon bon and I spent 1000 bits to rent a space where we can present, the mighty alicorn! Derpy hooves!" Lyra said, bouncing up once then beckoning Derpy to come on. Derpy followed the energetic brightly-colored unicorn around a large, chattering crowd. Then she nudged her onto a stage, where Bon bon had been saying something about presenting something.
"Okay, Ladies and Gentlecolts, I present to you, my good friend, and honest to goodness alicorn, Derpy hooves!" Bon bon said, looking over at the crowd.
The crowd gasped as they heard the name. The clumsy mailmare? Why her? "She delivers my mail!" Called one stallion, waving his hoof in the air.
Derpy poked her head out from the curtain, her long and majestic horn proving she was an alicorn. She took a deep breath then finally revealed herself. The huge crowd gasped and began to cheer. Soon they chanted, "Do some magic! Do some magic!" Derpy stepped forwards, preparing to levitate an object nearby. She did and the crowd gasped, a regular mailmare became an alicorn? Soon to be a ruler of an unknown land?! "How amazing!" A few ponies said, their jaws dropping.
"Thank you all for coming! I must really get to Canterlot!" Derpy said, preparing to take off. She put on her crown, winked and took off into the wide blue sky.
"Welcome, Derpy, how are you?" Celestia asked the gray alicorn.
"Lovely, and you?" Derpy asked.
"I'm good, let's get to business." Celestia said, holding out the second map that she had kept for herself.
"Are we going to be naming it today?" Derpy asked, having thought up a name earlier.
"Yes, silly filly, of course we will." Celestia said, chuckling.
"Sweet!" Exclaimed Derpy, excited that she would be able to do the honor of naming her very own kingdom!
"What shall it be named?" Asked Celestia, levitating a quill and some paper.
Derpy thought a moment, reconsidering this morning's thoughts. "Muffinlandia!" She cried.
"Okay... I thought as much, since I know you like muffins. I actually tried my hoof at baking today, as a little welcome to being a ruler gift." Celestia said, chuckling. She pulled out a small plate of muffins, slightly burnt, but still tasty-looking.
"Mmm! Looks yummy!" Derpy said, grinning at the Princess. She levitated a muffin, than put the whole thing in her mouth, grinning and forgetting her manners."Heh heh." Derpy said, wiping her mouth with a nearby handkerchief.
"Alright, Derpy, are you ready for the most important part of earning a kingdom?" Celestia asked. "Well, besides learning about how to do it and all that." Celestia added. "We're going to tour your kingdom." Celestia said, finishing what Derpy had been dying to hear.
"Yay!" She cried, jumping up into the air.
