Moonsongs
Chapter 3
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThey walked for what seemed like years. Through the forest, past sweet apple acres, all the way through to Canterlot.
Many disgusted glances shot at them both, Pinkies chicken costume not helping at all.
"Come on, we can stop at my place. Well... my grannys place."
Approaching the small cottage, Moonsong began to wonder what it would be like. She hadn't been there since her granny passed. The key had been given to her in her Grannys will and to her surprise, when she opened the door, she found that the room was spotless, despite being deserted for the past 8 years.
"Come in, Pinkie, was it?"
"Yeparoony! Thats my name!"
The slightly delapidated floor creaked as the 2 ponies sat on a chair.
"Huh? Moonsong, whats this? 'A Letter To My Moonsong'.. Thats your name!"
A confused look overtook her face. It was her grannys writing. Ripping the envelope open in a wild state of excitement, she found a small gem inside, the shape of Princess Lunas cutie mark, with a black background.
She read the letter aloud.
To my dearest Moonsong.
By the time you have read this, I will have passed on to the world in the sky. I never got the chance to tell you about your life, and why it was so complicated, and for that I am deeply sorry. I was always too scared to tell you, incase you hated me for it, or incase you went into a state of shock that you could never recover from.
This gem represents your life. You see, although you are a pegasus, you belonged to a family of alicorns. The royals, to be exact. Princess Luna, as you know, has the same coat colour as you, and a similar cutie mark. What you may not know, is that years ago, before you were born, she was with your father, Electric. He shared your mane colour and eye colour. He was just a pegasus, which is the reason why you are a pegasus. He passed away shortly before you were born. Princess Luna became lonely, worried and sick at the death of your father and drove herself crazy with grief. This caused Princess Celestia to send her to the moon. Worried that her sister would find out about you, she gave you to me. She told me to take care of you, to love you like my own, and to tell you every day that she loves you dearly. But I did not tell you every day that she loved you... I was selfish. I loved you like you was my own and you was too young to know the truth. I now just fear that it is too late. I was not blood related to you, but I was your granny. And even if you werent my own, I would have done anything for your happiness... except to let you go. I can never forgive myself for that.
Stay strong, moonsong. I love you.
