My faithful student,
Your current studies of the magic of friendship have been nothing short of remarkable, and I am very glad of this. My sister, Princess Luna, has a request of you, and your knowledge of the magic of friendship will be put to the test by it.
You are aware that you are my protege, but you, and most of the public, are not aware of Luna's protege, or Agent, as she prefers to call him. Her Agent is a pony who lurks in shadows, and deals with threats that the public aught not know about, for fear of starting a panic. He deals with things like assassination attempts on mine or Luna's life, and the hunting down of hidden threats to Equestria and other morbid things. His is not a life to envy, but he has both mine and my sisters gratitude for the sacrifices he has made for us.
Sadly, his latest sacrifice was too much for Luna to bear anymore. He was nearly killed 2 weeks ago stopping an incursion of changelings trying to set up a nest outside of Canterlot. The mage I sent with him was barely able to get him back to Canterlot Hospital in time. Luna couldn't deal with the near loss of her Agent, I myself can empathize with her: I don't know what I'd do if I lost you my faithful student. So she has relieved him of duty until further notice, and is relocating him to Ponyville to recover. She has requested for you to oversee him while he does so, and try to help him relax and make a few friends.
I have met her Agent before, his name is Sword Symphony. He was perfectly polite, and well spoken. I have seen him put his life on the line to save innocent ponies many times: his morals and ethics are nothing for you to worry about. I'd even say you'll probably be as safe as anypony could be around him. What is troubling is that Sword is even more anti-social than you were when I first sent you to Ponyville. He has no family, except for a surrogate mother figure in the form of Luna, and no friends to speak of. Luxuries like that were not afforded him during his service. He is already 25, and a stallion that age should have a social life, so to speak. Guide him along the path of friendship and trust as he recovers, Twilight: that is Luna's request, and the new task I hereby assign you.
Oh, one thing to warn you about: Although Sword is a pegasus, he is gifted in a certain area of magic granted to him by Princess Luna through Ritual Magic: A form of magic I have not shown you yet. It is called Projection, and he utilizes it to manifest blades and other weapons from pure magic. Like I said, not an area of magic I figured you'd ever need, but i figured I should warn you in advance before he pulls a blade out of thin air and scares everypony half dead.
Please report to me every other day on his progress, and expect a visit from Luna every once in a while. Good luck, Twilight.
Twilight put the letter she had just received down, and levitated a quill and parchment to write a response.
Dear Princess Celestia
I'd be honored to perform this task for you and Princess Luna, and I am very interested in meeting another Princess's student, although I get the feeling we will not have much in common. I will report to you every other day before 9pm. You mentioned he's a pegasus; if he can fly, I'm sure that Rainbow Dash's home would be much more suited to him than anywhere else. I don't have a spare room in the Library, but I know Fluttershy has a spare bedroom, I'll go and see if she will allow him to stay there. Perhaps a touch of kindness would do him some good. If anything, I know she'll treat him well and take care of him while he's injured. One thing I've learned is that anypony can experience the magic of friendship, and I'm sure he will be no different.
I will await his arrival in three days.
Your faithful student,
Twilight Sparkle
And with the last stroke of her quill, she called for Spike. "Send this to the Princess please." she handed him the scroll, and Spike breathed out his green flame, engulfing the scroll and sending to Celestia.
"What's that letter about?" he asked, picking at his claws.
"Princess Celestia and Luna are sending a pony to stay in Ponyville for a while, they want me to watch over him while he's here, and help him make some friends." she answered, not willing to let Spike in on the ponies actual identity. Spike nodded.
"Cool! Well have fun with him Twilight, I have a cake to bake" Spike returned downstairs to attempt a Gem Cake again. Twilight left the library in a hurry; she had a lot to do before this Agent of Luna arrived, and she wanted to be as prepared as she could
