A Noise in the Closet
The Noise
Load Full StoryHello, I am William Barrett. I live in south-central Michigan, and I have a pretty standard life. Well, let's just say I had a normal life. It all got crazy once I got back from college. In fact, why don't I got back to then, and tell you it all.
My name is William Barrett, and this is my story.
Once I was done with collage, I made sure to visit my parents. When I pulled into the driveway, I was immediately greeted by my dad whom recognized my blue Mercedes instantly.
“Welcome home, boy!” was the first thing I got from my father. I studied the middle-aged man for a moment-it had been almost a year since I last saw him. He was about 5'10” so I was taller than him by half a foot. He was a bit chubby, and sported think rectangular glasses, all complimented by his slicked-back 90's hairstyle.
That's when my mom came outside with a box of stuff, putting it in the back of their car. She turned and saw me. “Kid!” was all she yelled before running over to me and giving me a big hug. My parents were always the 'quiet' types. Not necessarily in volume, but they did appreciate the value of words and tended not to waste them. My mom was an interesting person, mainly because of her size.
She was only 4'8” at 70lbs. So she was the smallest of the small, especially being at age 43. It was still awkward to talk to her since she is almost deaf and I stand a foot and a half over her. Plus there is the fact that I talk a lot compared to her sparing of words.
“Hey Mom, hey Dad. It's been awhile,” I said oddly. My dad just looked at me and laughed.
“Boy, you are too good at stating the understated,” he chuckled heavily while patting me on the back. He then picked up a cardboard box and put it into the back of his car without another word. I eyed him oddly before speaking again.
“What's with the boxes?” I asked. That's when my mom appeared out of nowhere.
“Oh, consider this your graduation present,” she told me.
“I hope you enjoy the house,” my dad finished while getting into the driver's seat of the car. My mom then swung around to the passenger's side.
“What?”
“Don't worry, we'll keep paying the bills until you get a job, but either way-we've already signed the house over to you. You legally own the place as of last week,” my dad explained to me, already backing out of the garage. I simply stared at them.
“I'll be visiting in a few weeks to make sure everything is okay,” was the last thing I heard from them as the drove down the driveway and turned onto the road. My guess is that they were going to go live with my dad's brother. I just shrugged it off and got into my trunk. I still had to go get some stuff from my dorm at the college, so I'd better get to it.
“Hey, Will!” I heard my name called through the door of my dorm room, “You better open this door!” I simply got up and walked over to the door and opened it.
“Finally. You'd think a girl could get a little more attention around here,” joked the person whom entered the room.
“What do you need Alex?” I asked her. Alex was a girl I'd made friends with on the campus as we had a majority of our courses together. She stands at a firm 5'11” that helps put her in her rather perky, yet sadly half-assed attitude a good majority of the time. Even so, she's a good friend despite her sometimes rather bitchy attitude. She's got blonde hair that goes about halfway down her back and curls to the right of her face in front. I know why this is as she's trying to look like my girlfriend, but there is one difference between them that I will always be able to tell who's who. Alex's eyes are green, my girlfriend's is a very distinct and bright shade of gold. Even so, I don't have many problems with her.
Well, there is one problem. She has appointed herself as my girlfriend, even if such isn't true. I am in a relationship, just not with her. Though, sadly, no matter how many times I tell her she's not my girlfriend, she just laughs at me and plants a kiss on me like I'm a crazy person.
“Just wanted to say goodbye to my boyfriend before he heads home. I won't be able to see you until I get the money to move to Kalamazoo here permanently,” she told me with a puppy dog face.
“Heaven forbid that I have to wait,” I muttered sarcastically. She just looked at me sourly.
“You know, you never did explain to me why you don't want to go out with me,” she said.
“I have and I will until you get it through your thick head; I already have a girlfriend. You have even met her.” She sat there with a blank face for a moment.
“Doesn't ring any bells to me,” was her response, which caused me to facepalm.
“Either way, I'm going to be seeing her a lot more often now, so unless you want to get your face clawed off six ways to next year, I'd recommend you drop the self-proclaimed girlfriend tag,” I said closing my last box of stuff.
“Fine then,” she pouted, “but we're still friends right?”
“Of course. You're a fun girl, but a little to close at times,” I told her as I taped all the boxes shut, “Mind helping me carry these down to my car?” She just simply nodded and picked up a couple of them.
After a few minutes, we had everything in the car and we were just sitting by it talking.
“So, I'm a little to close at times?” she asked with an evil smirk growing onto her face.
“What are you implyi-” was all I got out before she pulled our chests together in a hug. She just gave me a sultry look and started rubbing her chest against mine. She knew I loved yet hated the feeling at the same time, so she always did it when I was too sad or too happy....or whenever she was horny. It was usually when she was horny.
“Yes, you're too close at far too many times!” I yelled at her, trying to get out of the hug, but that girl has an iron grip. I stopped struggling and looked at her in an annoyed fashion, “Let go of me.”
“Only when you give me a kiss goodbye and a slap on the ass for good measure,” she said in a sexy voice. I swear to god, this girl is going to be a playboy model someday.
“I will double the length of the kiss and not slap your ass, as knowing you, doing so is a sentence to an unwanted blowjob in the parking lot here. She studied my face for a few moments.
“Fine then,” was her answer before she leaned forward and started kissing me. I just kind of sat there, not contributing at all, waiting for her to finish. After about eight seconds, she pulled away and released her grip on me.
“It was fun. I hope your girlfriend has fun doing what you never let me,” she told me as I got in my car. I glared at her, but she just stuck her tongue out at me and walked away. I shook my head and peeled off.
Several hours had passed since I got home and I had been doing almost nothing since then. As soon as I got home I was happy to find that my dad left me his desktop computer, so I hopped on that and played some of my favorite game, Team Fortress 2.
I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but I am a pretty avid gamer. It's one of, if not, my favorite hobbies. If I'm not writing in some form or another, or talking to my friends on Skype, then I'm probably playing a video game.
I play mostly games on Steam, so I've got a wide library to choose from. Enough to last me until I get too tired and have to go to bed, which is incidentally where the event that changed my life forever took place.
It was some 2:00 in the morning when a noise awoke me. I sat up in my bed and looked around, seeing as nothing was amiss. This house has had problems in it's past. Rodents, insects, stray animals, though the biggest problem was a short period involving the paranormal.
With the notation that nothing was wrong, I felt my bladder kick in, so I got up and went to the bathroom. Heading back to bed, I entered my room to notice a raccoon-colored fur-ball sticking out of my dresser drawer. It uncurled itself and looked at me.
“Oh, hey Trouble. I didn't realize that Mom and Dad left you with me,” I said smiling at her. She meowed in response, “Meow to you too, cat.” I patted her head and walked back to my bed, her following. I lied down, and she curled back up at my feet.
Within a few minutes, we were awoken with the loud banging of the closet door. We both jumped up, looking at the door apprehensively. I looked down at my cat. She was not exactly young, at about seven years. I walked up to the door carefully, turning on the light before going to the closet.
Walking up to the closet, the lights flickered and I pushed the box in front of the closet out of the way so the door could be opened.
As I placed my hand on the handle, the lights flickered again. I'd have to make sure to fix the bulb. With that in mind, I opened the closet door, expecting to see a box on the floor or something. Instead I saw a bright flash of magenta, and before I could react, I was hit directly in the face with something very hot and very blunt. Before I could see what hit me, I dropped unconscious.
As I passed out, several girls looked down at me in my unconscious state.
“Well, that was unexpected,” a girl with curly purple hair said. The six got up and looked at the unconscious man in front of them.
“What is he?” a girl with rainbow colored hair asked.
“Ah' think the better question is, what are we?” a blonde girl asked with her a southern accent.
“Oh no no no no no,” a girl with violet bangs stammered, “This can't be happening. Not again!”
“Twilight, calm down,” the blonde girl said again, “What's wrong?”
“Do you remember when I went into the mirror to stop Sunset Shimmer and get my crown back?”
“Of course, darling. How could we have forgotten such a recent event?” the purple haired one asked.
“The fact that it was four years ago,” a girl with pink hair said quietly.
“Well, when I went through the mirror, I met a bunch of these creatures, I even turned into one,” she said, examining her hand in the process, “Though, I must say the skin is slightly different here than it is in Sunset's world.”
“Let's get out of here before he wakes up,” the rainbow haired one told the others while crawling away on her hands and knees. All but 'Twilight' followed.
“Twilight? Are you coming or what?”
“Actually, no. I think we should stay here. These creatures aren't that violent. He seems only slightly older, if not the same age as us.”
“Either way, this room smells. Can't we just wait in the living room?”
'Twilight' hesitated, “I suppose,” she said getting up on her feet, “but if you're going to be going anywhere, at least walk like these creatures should.
Several hours later, I awoke with a jolt. Breathing heavily, I placed a hand to my cheek. I quickly pulled it away, as it burned like nothing else. I looked around. The room was dark now, the light turned off. The sun was up, but my curtains blocked ninety percent of it's light. I looked around the room for Trouble. I for some reason hoped I could see her white-pelted, bunny-like sister, Mischief, but no luck. Equally as much luck appeared for finding Trouble.
Moving my legs from the bed, I heard the door opened. I expected to see a lock of blonde coming through the door, the distinct sign of my mail carrier, but instead, I saw a very bright wave of pink come through the door, along with the face of a person, whom I'd never met before.
I looked at her for a moment, and she started mumbling. I couldn't hear her at all.
“Er, excuse me?” I asked, trying to get a repeat of what she said. She spoke up.
“Um, ar-are you alright?” she asked. Her voice was extremely quiet, and extremely timid.
“I, um, I'm fine,” I stammered, “but...who...are you?” I asked looking at her oddly.
“One moment,” she said. She closed the door. I heard some muffled talking as I scratched my head. I soon saw the door open, and six girls walked through. The part that caught me off guard though, was that all six of them were completely naked.
“Woah, woah, woah! Why are you all coming in here naked!?” I yelled, my face turning a very bright red.
“That's not important right now!” one girl with multi-colored hair yelled at me, right in my face, “What's important is where we are, who you are, and why we're all hairless apes!”
“Huh?” I asked.
Another girl with purple bangs pulled the rainbow haired girl back and sat on the bed next to me, “Please excuse Rainbow Dash. Could you maybe tell us where we are?”
“Where you are? Well, where are you from?”
“We're from Equestria,” she said. That name sounded vaguely familiar.
“Well, I've never heard of that place. This is a small town in Michigan, a state of the United States.”
“Never heard of it,” the girl next to me said.
“Twilight!” one girl yelled. She was bouncing up and down, her bubbly raspberry hair flopping in similar motion, “How many times do I have to tell you, we've teleported into a different dimension!?”
The girl next to me, presumed Twilight, grumbled and got up, “I hate to believe it, but it's honestly the only explanation that makes sense.”
“Excuse me, darling,” one with curly purple hair said to me, “but my sense for fashion questions why you are wearing clothes right now.”
I awkwardly smiled, “How about a better question: What is this 'different dimension' your bubbly friend mentioned?”
“A place filled by colorful, friendly ponies; not these drab tan apes,” 'Rainbow' said.
“Ponies?” my eyebrow arched, “This whole situation feels vaguely familiar. By 'colorful ponies' what exactly does that mean?”
“Well, for example,” the raspberry haired spoke up, “I am a pink earth pony with the same hair you see here. Rainbow is a cyan pegasus with a rainbow mane and tail. Rarity,” she pointed to the girl with the curly purple hair, “is an alabaster unicorn with a super curly purple mane and tail. Our friend Zecora is a zebra with black and white stripes, while the ruler of Equestria, Princess Celestia, is a white alicorn with flowing green, pink, and blue mane and tail.”
“Wait, pegasi, unicorns, and alicorns? Those are all supposed legends,” I said, a face of confusion crossing my face. Twilight looked to me.
“Legends? Better check your biology, pal. It's all one-hundred percent real!” Rainbow said.
“Now, Rainbow. I'm sure they aren't real here, because, like Pinkie said, we've probably been sent to a different dimension. After all, we all agreed that we saw purple voids before we teleported here.”
Twilight took a moment to think. She spoke after a few seconds. “I think it would be helpful for us to be acquainted with each others' names. We may be here for a while. Would you mind caring for us in the time we are here?”
“I don't know, money's tight right now. I can set you on the right path, if things don't go as planned,” I said, my face having paled after getting accustomed to the sight of the girls bodies, though other regions remained aroused.
“My name is William Barrett. Though, feel free to call me Will.”
“I'm Twilight Sparkle,” obviously Twilight said.
“Rainbow Dash. You can go ahead and call me Rainbow or Dash though,” Rainbow noted.
“I'm Pinkie Pie and I love to throw parties, is it alright if I have a party right now? We just met, and I love to throw parties after I just met somepony, or wait, does that apply here? How do you address that, definitely not 'somepony' because you're not a pony-” the raspberry haired on blathered on before someone stuck their hand over her mouth.
The one who covered her mouth spoke next, “Don't mind her. Ah'm Applejack, though Ah' prefer AJ, so if ya'll could just call me that, that'd be great.” My eyes widened a very small bit at her thick southern accent.
“I-I'm um....Fluttershy,” the one who I saw when I woke up said, very quietly.
“And I'm Rarity, darling. You're simply going to have to give me some pointers on how to make clothing for these creatures, as I've not the slightest idea. As for a matter a fact, I don't even know what we are.”
“You guys are-and I as well-are humans,” I said, simply.
“I know a little about humans but not much. If it's possible that I could get some research done, could I, Will?” Twilight asked.
I cleared my throat, “I'll help you with the things I know about already, but I'm not going to do anything physical to help your research.”
“As for now,” I said, getting out of bed, “I'm going to offer all of you some temporary clothing, as it could get very awkward if I let all of you run around here naked.”
“Why is that?” Rarity asked.
“Just trust me. There comes a point where if I'm around a female who's genitalia I can see perfectly for too long, my natural instincts kick in, and I have no control of it.”
“What exactly does that mean?” Rainbow inquired.
“It means my brain goes to it's most primitive state, where it's only two thoughts are 'survive' and 'reproduce.' Both of which for my species can end up rather violent.”
“Eh, violence, disgusting stuff. I could go a fine day without a sign of it, if I were to be perfectly honest,” Rarity stated.
“That's my point,” I said after a good stretch. Surprisingly, the girls were a bit shorter than me, around 5'8”. I, at full height am 6'3”. I started rummaging through my drawers and my closet for some kind of helpful clothing. The only things I could find that weren't ten sizes too big were a few from my teenage years.
After awkwardly helping the girls slip into their clothing, which involved me coming far too close to their nether regions, and accidentally grabbing Applejack's breast.
“Now, I'll need to get you six acquainted with some things around the house.”
I led them out to the living room, and as I stared at the six girls around me-their exotic hair colors flowing behind them-I thought to myself:
Where do I know these girls from?
