//-------------------------------------------------------// Twilight's Flying Lesson -by The Asexual Jelly Bean- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue Twilight is flying torwards all the people watching her, but she looses control, and crashes down in the forest. "Wow, I should probably practice, before I do something like this" Twilight frowned. She walks through the forest, trying to find her way out. She finds a path, and she starts hearing the music from the castle, and figures she's probably close. She follows the music, and after not too long, she's in Canterlot. She's running all the way to the castle, she doesn't fly, because her wing kinda hurts, and she's not a very good flyer, just yet. She's at the castle now, and she sees the others. Rainbow Dash sees Twilight first, and is pretty shocked, because she notices that she's holding her own wing, because it's aching so much. She runs to her, and tells the others to come, aswell. "Twilight! Are you alright?!" She yells. "Yes I'm fine, I just crashed, dont worry, it wasn't a very bad crash. But I should probably learn to fly, before I start bragging like that." She replies to Rainbow's question. "I guess I can teach you a bit. You know, since I'm the fastest, and best flyer in all of Equestria. I'd be the perfect coach." Rainbow Dash says. Twilight quickly accepts her offer. "But can we wait till tomorrow, please? My wings are kinda sore after the crash, before." She asks. "Of course, no worries." Rainbow replies.                                                                                              The next day... Twilight wakes up, and her wing is getting alot better. It doesn't hurt as much, at least. She stands up on her hooves, and starts stretching, thinking that she has to train today. Not exactly what her day usually goes by with. She tries to fly, and she can. Not too fast, though. She flies to Rainbow's place, it takes her a while. If she could walk to Rainbow's house, that would've been faster, but sadly Rainbow lives in Cloudsdale, so she can't. Well, she's finally at Rainbow Dash's house, but she's  afraid to walk to the door. Mainly because she forgot she's an Alicorn, and is now able to walk on clouds. She realizes it, and starts walking the rest of the way. *Knock, knock.* Some time passed, no answer. *KNOCK, KNOCK!* "Yes I'm here, I'm here! Chillax!" Rainbow yells angrily. A few seconds has passed, and the mare opens the door. "Oh sorry for going so hard on you Twily, just really tired. I just woke up." "I - Figured" Twilight answered. "Well, are you ready to begin the lesson?" Twilight asks. "Yes, of course, let's begin!" Rainbow says. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Lesson 1 - Flying-Control //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Lesson 1 - Flying-Control "Ok Twilight, to control your flying, you have to feel the wind... You have to feel the wind coming against, and or with you. Depends which direction the wind blows of course." Rainbow Dash says, part dramatically, and part for fun. "Ok, so..." She bashes her wings through the air. She finally leaves the ground, and is sort of flying. She starts flying slowly, but she's swinging quite alot, because she's not used to flying. "Twilight be careful, you're about to hit a wall!" Rainbow yells. Twilight looks back at Rainbow Dash, with a very confusing look, and turns her head around, so she's looking forward again. *Smash!* She hits the wall, luckily not too hard, since she wasn't flying very fast, but hard enough to make her pretty dizzy. "Twilight, are you alright?" Rainbow asks her, after she goes to her. "Yes, don't worry, just a tiny headache. I wasn't flying very fast, so the impact isn't too bad." She replies. They fly back to where they came from, and starts over. "You always have to focus the direction you're flying. Trust me I know. I flew into a mountain, once." Rainbow says. "I know, I was there. It was that time, when you were trying to escape Pinkie." Twilight laughs. "Yes..." Rainbow frowns. "And it hurt quite alot. Since I was flying pretty fast, if I should say it myself." Rainbow Dash says. Twilight says quickly "Well, let's get started again, shall we?" Rainbow Dash tries to fly a bit, so Twilight can study her moves, while she's flying. Rainbow makes barrel rolls, and all other kinds of cool maneuvers. She flies back to the ground again, and tells Twilight to give it a go. She flies into the air, with a bit more control this time. "Just feel the wind, Twilight!" Rainbow Dash yells. She musteres all the strength in her body, and tries to fly fast. She flies pretty quick, for a beginner. She makes a barrel roll, it's sort of successful, but she makes a sudden nose-dive torwards the ground, and hits it with her face. Rainbow Dash flies to her again, and asks her once again. "Are you alright?..." "Yes I'm fine, just give me a second, kinda dizzy. I was doing fine though, don't you think?" Twilight asks. "Well, you were flying kinda fast, compared to how long, you've had wings. But Twilight, for Celestia's sake, stop doing tricks, and such, before you learn to fly in the first place." Rainbow says, half laughing, and half serious. "Ok, I'll try to fly again, normally this time." Twilight says, kind of annoyed. She flies straight into the air, she's swinging a bit. She straightens up quickly, though. She flies straight, and she tries to do a turn, and it's successful. She flies torwards Rainbow Dash, and smiles, Rainbow smiles back. She swings away from Rainbow Dash, and lands on the ground again. Twilight asks her "How did I do?" "Pretty good. You finally learned how to control your movements in the air. Now you just need to learn, how to fly fast, and do tricks." Rainbow Dash says. Twilight quickly states "Yes! But let's wait till tomorrow, all this crashing has made me, not only hungry, but really tired, too. And it's getting pretty late, so we should probably both get some sleep." "Yeah, you're probably right." Rainbow Dash says, smiling at Twilight, and Twilight smiling back at her. Twilight turns around, and is about to fly away, when Rainbow Dash suddenly asks her "Hey, what do you say, we ask the others if they wanna come tomorrow?" "That'd be great, we'll ask them tomorrow morning, ok?" Twilight asks. "Sure, let us." Rainbow Dash says. They both turn away from each other, and flies home. When they arrive home, they go to bed, and sleeps comfortably the whole night. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Lesson 2 - Speed //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Lesson 2 - Speed Twilight wakes up, and starts stretching, like the other morning. Stretching is needed when you train everyday. She brushes her teeth, straightens her hair, walks out, and flies off to Rainbow's place. On the way there, she sees her friends, who happily waves to her, seeing that she's flying. She's at Rainbow's place now. *Knock, knock!* Rainbow opens the door, a few seconds after she knocked, unlike yesterday. "Oh, hey Twilight, I've been waiting. I decided to tell the others, that they should come see you train, yesterday, before I went home." Rainbow Dash says. "Oh, ok. Where are they?" Twilight asks. "Twilight, remember, you're an Alicorn, that's why you can walk on clouds. They're not Alicorns, they can't do it yet." Rainbow states. "Oh, yeah, true..." Twilight says, while facehoofing herself. Twilight stays for a little while, and gets some breakfast. they sit for a little while, talking about how it went yesterday. Twilight, and Rainbow, then stands up, and flies off to get the others. Twilight tabs Rainbow's left side, and tells her to look down, because AJ's down there. Rainbow Dash quickly yells "Hey AJ, you comin'? We're going to get the others, and then we'll go train." "Yeah, of course, Ima comin'. Just give me a few seconds, I need to buck the rest of these damn apples." Applejack Replies. "Ok, we'll see you there." Twilight yells to AJ. Twilight, and Rainbow finds the others, and tells them to come join them now. They're at the training spot now, and ready to start. "Ok, Twilight, today I'm going to teach you, how to fly fast. All you have to do, is just concentrate. You have to use every muscle in your wings, to dash, and you need to push yourself forward. I'll show you how first, so you can see how I do." Rainbow says. She flies up into the air, and starts dashing. She's so close to breaking the sound barrier, and do a sonic rainboom again, but I think she's slowing down on purpose, because it doesn't even look like it's hard, anymore. She flies down again, and tells Twilight to give it a shot. The others tell her good luck, and Twilight flies into the air. She's flying alot better today, compared to yesterday. She's still swinging a bit, of course, She probably isn't used to it yet. She straigthenes up, and starts flying faster, and totally straight. She speeds up, and is now flying pretty fast. If we should go after wing-power, I'd say she's flying with around 10. Still not as fast as Rainbow, obviously. But still faster than Fluttershy. She lands again, and asks Rainbow how she did. "You did really good. I must give you a tab on your bag, for this performance." Rainbow Dash answered. Twilight sort of collapses, after Rainbow's so-called *Tab on the bag* More like a punch. "Ouch!.. Rainbow, next time, don't hit me, just tab me, please." She grins. "Oh, sorry Twilight. Well, go up there, and give it another try." Rainbow Dash says. Twilight nods to Rainbow Dash, and starts running, she then takes a leap, and she's airborne again. She flies really fast this time, since she took that inlet, before she leaped into the air. But, she flies a bit too fast, and starts loosing control again. She falls to the ground, and faceplants the earth. The others run to her. "Are you alright, Darling?" Rarity asks, pretty loud. "Yes, I'm fine... Just a little scratch. Well, and a really big headache." Twilight states. Fluttershy and Rainbow each grabs one of Twilights' fore-legs, and lifts her up. "Thanks guys." Twilight says, while smiling to both Fluttershy, and Rainbow. "You're welcome, Twilight." Fluttershy says, almost whispering. "Anytime, sis'." Rainbow sort of yells to Twilight. Pinkie Pie goes to Twilight, and starts talking like crazy "That was so cool Twilight! You were really flying fast! Maybe someday you can make a sonic rainboom, too! Well, probably not sonic rainboom! Only Rainbow Dash can make a sonic rainboom, because she is raibow-colored. Maybe you can make a sonic purpleboom! Or something purple, since you're purple and all! That'd be so great, don't you think!?" Twilight, and the others just start laughing, and nods along to Pinkie's craziness. "Well, Twila', you did do a good job." Applejack says. "Thank you. I think I'll give it one more try, and hope I don't crash this time." Twilight says. She runs, and leaps into the air, and flies really quick. Even faster than before. Around 13 wing-power, this time. She flies torwards the ground, and is about to hit it, and then she leans upwards again. She probably just did it, to scare her friends a bit. "Wohoo! This is so much fun!" Twilight yells to the others. And the others start smiling in relief, after she almost hit the ground. Some time passes by of Twilight just flying around. She flies downwards again, and lands on the ground. "Well, that went pretty smooth." Twilight says while smiling. Rainbow Dash, and the others goes over to Twilight, and they each give her a sister-hoof, and they make a group-hug. "Well, we should probably all go home now, and get some sleep. I've never been so exhausted in my life." Twilight said. "Ya'll are probably right, I'm startin' to get real tired, too." Applejack says, and makes a noisy yawn, afterwards. "I'm going home too. Angel Bunny is probably getting worried." Fluttershy says. "Yep, me too. Sweetie Belle is probably still waiting for me. I forgot, that I had to make her dinner tonight. She's gonna be really mad, if I don't come home soon." Rarity says. "I'll go home too, then. I have some cupcakes I need to make, before tomorrow." Pinkie says, while jumping up and down. "Yeah, I could need a little rest before tomorrows' lesson, too. So Twilight, remember to prepare yourself, for learning some tricks tomorrow, ok?" Rainbow Dash says. "Will do!" Twilight says, and winks to Rainbow. They all say their goodbyes, and walks/flies home. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Lesson 3 - Tricks //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Lesson 3 - Tricks Twilight has a dream where she does alot of awesome tricks. She's really happy that she can do all these tricks - But she wakes up, and she realizes it's just a dream. "Damn, I thought I was actually that good at flying. Well, the dream inspired me, I guess i can do a bit." Twilight tells herself. She walks to the kitchen and gets some breakfast. She stands up, and flies out, and off to Rainbow. She's now at Rainbow's house again. Silently opening the door, to make sure she isn't asleep, and she just wakes her up. Well, she sees Rainbow Dash sitting by the table, getting some breakfast. "Hey, Rainbow!" Twilight says while smiling. "Oh, hey Twilight! What's up? Ready to do some tricks?" Rainbow asks, while sounding very excited. "Yes, of course. I actually had a really inspiring dream tonight! I might be able to do very well this time." Twilight replies. "Let's hope it'll go well." Rainbow grinned. They fly off, and on the way they ask the others, if they wanna join them. Only Pinkie and AJ says yes. Rarity has to make a ton of dresses before sundown. And Fluttershy needs to take care of alot of critters. They arrive at the training spot again. "Are you ready, Twilight!?" Rainbow asks. "Ready as I'll ever be!... I guess. We'll see how it goes." Twilight replies, very nervous. "You can do it, Twilight!" Pinkie yells, trying to sound inspiring, for Twilight's sake. "Eyep, ya'll just fly up there, and do all of them cool tricks!" Applejack says. She runs very fast, and makes her usual leap into the air. She's airborn, and flying fast. She makes a few barrel rolls, and crashes. "Wow! Ouch.. That hurt. I think I hurt my right wing." Twilight says. The others run to her, asking if she's able to fly. She nods, but like she's not actually sure. She flies into the air again, and tries to fly. It was kind of hard. She flies to the ground again, looking downwards, and she doesn't want to look up, at her friends' disappointed faces. She looks up, and her friends look sad, but she can see, it's not pure disappointment. They're sad on her behalf. "We'll get you to the hospital, and we'll see if there's anything they can do." Rainbow says frowning. "Ok, thank you." Twilight says while smiling. They're at the Ponyville Hospital. "Can you please take a look at my friends wing?" Rainbow Dash asks. "Of course, right away!" The nurse replies. The nurse takes a look at the wing, and tells them, that she had sprained the wing. The others look very sad. "No need to frown, it's not very bad. She should be able to fly again tomorrow. Don't worry about that. She just has to stay off the wing till then, and it should be as good as new." The nurse says. Not knowing, that the wings were basically new. Well, she probably didn't realize, it was Princess Twilight Sparkle. Well, they took off home, and Twilight just found one of her books. "Flying guide, for beginners. That seems interesting." Twilight says. She reads the book, and a few hours has past, and it's getting late, she gets into bed, and tries to fall asleep. Her wing is still aching a bit, so it takes her some time. She finally falls asleep, and has the same dream as last night, but this time she dreams further. She does alot of loops, and barrel rolls, and all kinds of awesome tricks. And as Pinkie basically predicted she'll do. She does a Sonic Purpleboom. Yes, Purplboom. She's purple, she can't do a Rainboom, that's physically impossible. She wakes up, and is smiling, because it's already morning. She touches her wing, to see if it still hurts. But luckily, it doesn't. She flies off to Carousel Boutique first, to see if she's done working on the dresses. She was. "Well, can you come see me train today? I sprained my wing yesterday, so I had to wait till today." Twilight asks. "Of course, you just come get me, when you're going." Rarity says smiling. Twilight flies off to Fluttershy's Carnage. "Fluttershy, can you come today?" Twilight asks her. "Sure I can, when are you going?" Fluttershy asks. "Not sure, maybe in an hour, I'll come get you, when we go." Twilight states. She flies off to Rainbow's house now. She knocks on the door. Rainbow Dash opened the door. "I've been expecting you... But you're late, why?" Rainbow asks. "Sorry, I just went to Rarity's and Fluttershy's first, to see if they could come aswell." Twilight says. Rainbow just nods along, and tells her to come inside, and get some breakfast. She just goes inside. They get some breakfast, and they're off again. They get the others on the way. They're at the training spot, once more. "Don't crash like that, this time, ok Twilight?" Rainbow grins. Twilight flies into the air. She's trying to feel the direction of the wind, and such, so she can know, when to do the tricks. She does a loop, and is succesful. She does 3 loops at a time, and is just about to crash, when she straightens up again. She does a few barrel rolls, and is still straight afterwards. She flies as fast as she can now. You can even see that sound barrier that sorrounds Rainbow Dash, when she's about to do a Sonic Rainboom. She almost breaks it, but just like what happened to Rainbow, when she practiced for it, a year ago or something. She gets thrown back. She doesn't crash, though. She just straightens up, and lands safely, and flies back to the others. "Wow Twilight you almost did that, purpleboom!" Pinkie yells. Laughing as hard, as ever. Twilight, and the others laughs with her. "Yeah! I think I'll try that one more time." Twilight says. She runs faster, and faster, and leaps powerfully into the air, and flies as quick as ever. The barrier that sorrounds her is almost broken. A gigantic boom was heard, and a big explosion was done. She actually did the Sonic Purpleboom. It was purple, with some white colors in the middle, just Rainbow's Rainboom. Everyone cheered for her. "That was simply amazing, darling!" Rarity yells. "Woohoo! I can predict stuff!" Pinkie yells, while smiling, and almost grinning. "Cornsarnit, that was amazing, Twila!" Applejack says excited. "Yay! You did it!" Fluttershy says. And Rainbow is just standing there, wondering what just happened, if she was dreaming, or whatever. Twilight flies to her, and asks her, if she's alright. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just really surprised. Guess I'm no longer the only one who can do that, huh?" Rainbow Dash says/asks. "Well, I could make the boom, but I'm still not as good a flyer as you. And remember, I'm an Alicorn. Alicorns are usually very fast. And don't worry, I'm sure you're alot faster than me, still." Twilight states. Twilight tells Rainbow to go up, and try to fly. She makes a Sonic Rainboom in a split second. "I told you, you're better than me!" Twilight yells while smiling. Rainbow flies down again. "Remember Rainbow, you can still do it, like it's nothing. I need to run fast at start, and then speed up, for Celestia knows how long." Twilight says, after Rainbow landed. Rainbow just nods, and winks to Twilight. They all circle around Twilight. And once again... Group-hug! They all hug, again. They finish, and says their goodbyes, and flies off home. They all go to bed, and sleeps.
