BRRING RING! BRRING RING! BRR-

Twilight Sparkle slammed her hoof onto her alarm clock, bringing the ringing to a sudden stop. She continued to toss and turn in her bed, until she finally found the strength to get out. She stared blankly at her bed, until her OCD ruled over her sleepiness, forcing her to quickly make her bed with the magic of her horn. Once that was done, she left Spike sleeping on his little bed, and shoved opened the door to head downstairs.

She trotted by her calendar with her day’s schedule on her way down, and immediately noticed that today was the 12th of October! “I almost forgot! Today is the day Mayor Mare calls a town meeting to address the current problem in Ponyville!” Twilight Sparkle thought. She hastily made some scrambled eggs with bacon, gulped it down, and left some extra for Spike on the table. She then washed her plate, and jumped through her door.

What a beautiful day! The sun is out, the ponies are out and about, and it seems like everything is perfect. It FEELS like everything is perfect!” Twilight thought, with a spark of happiness flowing through her body. But it was not perfect. Far from it, in fact. For Ponyville had turned for the worse.

With a turn of events not too recently, Ponyville was struggling to survive. There were multiple problems going on, including an unknown disease destroying crops almost as soon as they were planted, a huge outbreak of termites, that created huge holes in houses overnight, and the water from lakes were becoming polluted from unknown sources. So Ponyville was dying, and they needed to find a way to fix all of this.

A loud blaring sound was heard; the sound of a town meeting being called. The rest of the ponies still sleeping woke up, and groggily walked to the town square, where the town meetings took place. Mayor Mare stood on the stage with a microphone, and a paper in her hoof. She patiently waited for everypony to trot on to the square, and stand, waiting for what was so important to hear in the morning.

When Twilight made it to the square, she quickly scanned the area to see if she could find her friends. She looked up real quick, and saw a real pissed off Rainbow Dash, making her way to the town square.

“Hey Rainbow Dash!” Twilight shouted into the air.

“Oh, hey Twilight! One second, I’m coming,” Rainbow Dash hollered back, and zoomed down next to Twilight. “I was having such a nice dream, exploring with Daring Do in the jungle, and finding some artifacts that were lost…Sorry, didn't mean to bore you, but what I meant, was WHY DID THE TOWN MEETING HAVE TO BE AT 8 IN THE MORNING?” Rainbow exclaimed.

“Obviously, it’s something very important,” Twilight explained, holding back that she really knew what was going on.

“Ugh. Whatever,” Rainbow Dash scoffed, and stood next to Twilight. Twilight continued to look for her friends, when she saw a delighted Pinkie Pie, bouncing towards the square, along with Rarity (clearly annoyed by the amount of sound going on right now), and Fluttershy.

“Hey girls! Come on over here!” Twilight shouted. About 20 ponies including Twilight’s friends looked towards Twilight, not understanding who she was talking to. “Whoops. Guess I should have clarified who I meant,” Twilight thought. Once she signaled Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Fluttershy over, she continued her search for Applejack, who happened to be right behind her.

“Hey Twilight!” Applejack said. Twilight flew five feet into the air, and turned around to see her earth pony friend.

“Oh, hey Applejack. She gave me quite a fright,” Twilight explained.

“Ma bad. I wa-,” Applejack started, when Mayor Mare tapped the microphone three times, to test the sound.

“Helllooo Ponyville!” Mayor Mare exclaimed into the microphones. Only a few ponies said hello back, while most of them stared blankly, wondering what could possibly be going on at this hour.

“So..you are all probably wondering why I called you here. Well, the reason is, we have finally found a solution to all of our problems in Ponyville!” Mayor Mare informed everypony.

Once the ponies heard this, they immediately snapped out of their sleepy state, and exclaimed their happiness. There was tons of cheering, including from Twilight’s friends, but she kept a solemn face, because she knew what the solution was. It wasn’t a very good one.

It took several minutes to calm down all the ponies. “So, you must also be curious as to what the solution is? Well, the solution may be a bit hard, but I think we can get through it. The solution, is having Twilight Sparkle, and her friends scout ahead, to find a place to settle permanently, so we can start anew!” The ponies looked at each other, but then resumed their cheering, because one, they don’t have to do anything, and two, their problems will be solved!

Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Applejack, and Fluttershy looked at each other, worry written on their face. But Pinkie had already gotten her party cannon.

“This calls for a PARTYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!” Pinkie Pie shouted out, and shot her party cannon. Everypony cheered some more, and followed Pinkie Pie to her party, which she somehow created in five seconds.

The rest of the five continued looked at each other, still not believing what was going to happen.

“Who said we wanted to do this?” Applejack questioned.

“Yea, we never agreed to any of this!” Rainbow Dash shouted.

“I don’t really want to go..but if that’s not ok..I’ll go…but only if they want to.” Fluttershy said.

“What? Who would want to go and get their hoofs dirty from all that exploring and scouting?” Rarity asked, disgusted.

“Because I agreed to it,” said Twilight, matter-of-factly. “We have what it take to save Ponyville, and we should help out!”

“Ugh, but who knows what will come? We could be murdered by monsters, or get lost and die of no supplies!” Rainbow Dash informed Twilight. The others chimed in, agreeing to what Rainbow had said.

“But since nopony else will do it, we will be stuck here, and die anyways! How about we give it a shot, and try to save all the lives in Ponyville?” Twilight asked, hoping she convinced the others enough to join.

“Ah guess you’re right Twilight. We can either wait for our deaths, or try and change that!” Applejack agreed. The others thought about it some more, and what seemed like a forever silence, they also agreed. All except Fluttershy.

“But…what about the animals?” Fluttershy whispered. But, none of the other ponies heard.

Twilight planned out a schedule with her friends, until their departure. They will be packing straight after Pinkie Pie’s party for the trip. They will pack around several weeks’ worth of food and water, including tents for them to sleep in. Then, in the morning of the next day, they will depart from Ponyville. Since it was scientifically proven that places to start a city successfully were to the west, they would have to go through the ever-free forest. They will need their friendship more than ever to survive now. Once they found land, Rainbow Dash (being the fastest, and able to travel through the air) will fly back to Ponyville at top speed to let them know to come.

Once the planning was done, Twilight and her friends started to gallop away to Pinkie Pie’s going away party – which could very well be their last party ever.

Author's Note

The first chapter is a bit boring and short, but I sort of had to create a reason why they were leaving, and I can't add too much more without changing the chapter's meaning. Don't worry - the next chapter will be much more action-filled (and longer), as it will be about the Everfree Forest. I'll try adding as many creatures from there as possible, maybe even splitting it to two chapters as necessary. The Everfree forest is very big if you go a certain way ;)
