Snowflake helps out

It was a clear sunny day for the residents of Ponyville, with everybody going about their daily jobs and chores, except for the one Pegasus causing blue streaks throughout the sky. Rainbow Dash was flying all around town looking for the one pony she could trust with her crazy idea.

“For hooves sake. She can always find me but the one time I really want to find her she’s nowhere to be found.”

Landing in front of the towns’ bakery she decided to check again if her friend was home. As soon as she walked in through the front door her pink friend bounced over the counter and tackled her.

“Oh Dashie it’s you! I just had a Pinkie-sense combo and thought to myself one of my friends is planning some fun and Mrs Cake told me you were looking for me so I made sure to stay in one place so you could find me even though there is so much fun I could be having but a combo means it’s extra super duper fun and I knew you would find me so we can have the fun that the combo told me about.”

Rainbow thought how it was possible that one pony could say so much in a single breath but realized it was a lost cause. It’s Pinkie after all. Instead she began to think about her idea and how she could talk her friend into it.

“Pinkie how much do you weigh?”

Pinkie jumped off Rainbow and sat on the floor looking hurt.

“Dashie you know how I feel about secrets but that’s not something you should ask a friend. I try my best but working in a bakery makes it hard to stay in shape like you or Applejack.”

“I’m sorry Pinkie I wasn’t thinking. I won’t ask again but I do need to check something.”

Getting up Dash grabbed Pinkie and started to hover around the room with her pink friend giggling about how cool it would be to fly. After putting Pinkie down Dash seemed to have a appraising look on her face.

“Ok Pinkie I have a awesome idea I want to try out but I’m going to need a little bit of help getting it organized. What are you doing tomorrow afternoon?”

“Hmmm. It was such a big combo I just have to know what this idea of yours is. I can be yours all day if you need me.”

Rainbow couldn’t help but chuckle. “I’ll hold you to that. Just before sunset tomorrow then I’ll be back for you and that sexy flank of yours.”

With that she flew out of the bakery and headed towards her home leaving a stunned but excited pony behind her.

The next morning Rainbow knew she had her work cut out for her but was sure she could pull it off. She flew towards the Wonderbolts academy waving at some of the ponies she knew but looking for one in particular. While flying past the Dizzitron she saw him and his lead pony putting in some well needed practice. She landed just as Cloudchaser was sent careening out of the device.

“Hey Snowflake how’ve you been”

“Yeah!”

“Good to hear. Listen I need your help with something later involving Pinkie Pie but you can’t tell anyone what I’m planning”

Dash glanced up and saw that Cloudchaser was coming in for a landing. She whispered her plan into Snowflakes ear causing the large Pegasus to look at her in surprise.

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. Think you can help out?”

“Help out with what?” called Cloudchaser as she trotted over.

“Hey great landing C! You’re getting almost as good as me. I just need to borrow your wing pony for a bit today to uh... practice some new tricks. Isn’t that right Snowflake.”

“Yeah!!”

Cloudchaser looked suspiciously at the two of them for a moment then sighed. “We really need to keep practicing but to be honest I have a few things I haven’t been able to get done since we started here so I could use some time off.” She gave Snowflake a sultry look. “Just be back to me before dinner or your ass will be mine”

“Yeah.” said Snowflake with a smirk.

The penny finally dropped for Rainbow as she processed what she had just seen and heard. The big goofball finally found someone that understands him. Good for him but I’m on a schedule.

“Lets get going Snowflake. Got a lot of practice to get done and we don’t want you to be late do we.”

“YEAH!”

Pinkie Pie was in her apartment above the bakery going crazy with excitement wondering what Rainbow had in store for her. She had tried to pass the day by helping the Cakes with their orders but had spent more time bouncing around making wild guesses until they told her to wait upstairs out of the way. It was getting later in the day and she heard a knocking on her door.

“Who is it?” she called as if she had no idea.

“Who do you think it is Pinkie? Open up will ya!”

Pinkie laughed and ran to the door flnging it open and yelling “DASHIE!” only to be surprised by a large and muscle bound Pegasus with red eyes and the smallest wings.

“Yeah.” shouted Snowflake.

“Right here Pinkie” called Rainbow from Snowflakes’ back. “Just had to check something was all. This here is Snowflake and he says hello.”

“Yeah.”

“And he’s pleased to meet the pony who throws the best parties in Ponyville.”

Pinkie looked stunned. “You got all that from Yeah.”

“Absolutely. It’s all in reading the inflection.” said Rainbow with a smile. “Anyway Snowflake here is going to help us out with our fun today.”

“Oh no no no no. Sorry Mr. Snowflake I don’t know what Dashie has told you but I don’t have fun with stallions. Its mares only for me. I hope you understand.”

“Yeah” said Snowflake with a chuckle.

“It’s all good Pinkie he isn’t here for the fun. In fact he will miss out on his own if we don’t get a move on.” Rainbow said as she jumped off his back and gave him a playful poke in the ribs. “I’m not strong enough to carry you where we are going so I organised you a ride seeing you can’t fly and I didn’t want to bother Twilight for the wings spell. Jump on and we can be off. His wings may be small but this big lug could carry a dragon’s hoard.”

“YEAH!!”

That was enough for Pinkie. With a cry of “All aboard,” she jumped onto the Pegasus stallions back and they all took off into the sky. Pinkie was admiring the view of the town and marvelled at the difference between flight in the hot air balloon and being on a Pegasus’s back. She watched Rainbow fly loops around the slower moving pony and realized just how high they were getting.

“Umm Snowflake I’m not too heavy for you am I? We’re just getting fairly high up you know.”

“Yeah.”

“He says you’re fine Pinkie and we aren’t too far now. Look up ahead a bit and you can see our destination.”

A small cloud sitting by itself on a clear day seemed to be where they were heading for. It somehow looked soft even for a cloud and she wondered how she was going to stand on it. As they neared the cloud Rainbow dashed ahead and landed gently as not to disturb it out of shape. She lay down on her back and waited for the other two to catch up. While strong, Pinkie could tell the high altitude was making it harder for Snowflakes little wings to keep them afloat but his determination brought them both to the right altitude.

“Yeah.” He wheezed.

“That’s end of the line Pinkie. Jump across. I made the cloud extra extra bouncy so it can hold you up.”

Without batting an eyelid Pinkie jumped off the white stallions back and landed on the cloud sinking in only the tiniest bit.

“Thanks for the help Snowflake but you better get back to Cloudchaser before we both get into trouble”

With that reminder Snowflake shouted loudly and turned towards home as fast as his wings could take him.

“Oh my god Dashie this is so exciting! How did you get find a cloud that I can walk on?”

“It’s an old Pegasus construction trick I learned of years ago when they built my house. Basically you get a giant raincloud, wring it dry and then compress it until it can hold a non Pegasi although I would stop bouncing if I were you Pinkie. This baby still can go poof if you hit it in the right place.”

Pinkie froze in mid air upon hearing this and slowly dropped until she landed softly on the cloud without disturbing it. Once she settled down Pinkie realized just how high they were and what a glorious view of the kingdom she had before her. From Ponyville to Canterlot and even to the edge of the Appleoosian plains, the whole landscape spread out below like the biggest chessboard ever.

“Wow Dash. I have never seen anything like this before. Even in Cloudsdale or the academy there was too many clouds in the way to appreciate the view.” Pinkie said absolutely awestruck.

“Yeah it’s the best thing about being able to fly and see everyone below and realize we are small creatures and have to make the most of the time we have.”

The two friends sat on the cloud high above Equestria watching the sun slowly set. As the evening drew to a close Rainbow Dash snuggled up close to her pink friend due to the temperature dropping. Truth be told the temperature wasn’t really worrying her but she was still shaking.

“Pinkie Pie I have something to tell you. I got Snowflake to help bring you up here not only to enjoy the sunset and the stars but to say...”

“This is about how you are in love with me right?” interrupted Pinkie.

“I am in love with y...wait, what, how, I don’t know?”

“Third base!” cried Pinkie to a confused looking Rainbow Dash.

“You knew?”

“Well duh. My Pinkie Sense picks up on all sorts of things but this one was obvious.”

“So do you love me as well Pinkie?”

“Sure do.”

“For how long?”

“Well I think the time we spent alone in the desert made me realise how super duper awesome you are and how wonderful and caring you can be to your friends. That’s what I admire about you and it’s also what made me fall for you.”

“Why didn’t you say anything Pinkie?”

“You have so many people fawning over you already Rainbow and I didn’t think you would notice a pudgy hyperactive baker.” said Pinkie sadly.

Rainbow noticed her friends usually poufy hair was starting to droop and flatten out which is a sure sign that she was getting depressed. She wrapped Pinkie in one of her wings and gave her a soft hug.

“Don’t say that Pinkie, you are one of the most wonderful ponies I have ever known. I love everything about you including all your strengths and your flaws. It’s what makes you you and I wouldn’t change anything at all.”

With that said she leaned in and gave Pinkie a soft kiss on the lips.

“Pinkie Pie would you like to go out with me?”

“Oh my god yes!” she exclaimed and tackled Rainbow with a tight hug.

“That’s so what I wanted to hear! Now on to the fun part. Do you know what Pegasi do when they find their loves?” said Rainbow with a waggle of her eyebrows.

“Umm Rainbow do we really want to do that here? Isn’t this moving a bit fast?”

“Heh, Pinkie we are about to go faster then you would ever believe.”

Rainbow then grabbed Pinkie tightly and whispered into her ear “Hold on.”

Pinkies eyes widened as Rainbow raised her foreleg and punched the cloud beneath them causing it to dissipate immediately. With nothing to support them they began to freefall.

“Express elevator to hell going down!” shouted Rainbow over the rushing wind.

She tucked her wings in against her body and held on to Pinkie as they hurtled towards the ground feeling exhilarated by the speed and lack of control. Looking into her friends eyes she saw both excitement and fear. Trying to calm her down Rainbow kissed her again holding their lips together as they plunged to their doom.

Pinkie closed her eyes and melted into the kiss and almost forgot what was going on around them. When she reopened them the ground was alot closer. Too close for comfort even, especially with the speed they were going at.

“Rainbow when are we stopping?”

“Stopping? This is the ultimate expression of love Pinkie! We go all the way! Experience the highs and the lows before we die”

Meters from the ground and clinging onto her friend Pinkie could only think of one final thing to say.

“I truly do love you Dashie.”

“I love you too Pinkie” said Rainbow with a smile and with that she thrust her wings down with such force that they changed trajectory and rocketed skywards once again causing a Sonic Rainboom in her wake.

“How’s that for fun Pinkie?”

“That was scary and awesome at the same time Dashie. No offence but I kinda wanna get back to the ground now.”

“Sure thing.”

The two ponies landed back in Ponyville and Pinkie was carefully placed on the ground where she promptly hugged the closest building.

“Flying is cool Dashie but I think I am going to stay grounded for a bit. Do you mind if our date is on ground level as well?”

“Heh, that’s cool Pinkie, I guess we better tell the girls we are going to be dating now huh.?”

“Ooh a party. We gotta invite everyone. I am going to start right away. Lets go lets go lets go.”

Rainbow followed the pink party pony and couldn’t wait for what tomorrow would bring.

“You did WHAT!!!!”

“Yeah.”

“She must be out of her mind!”

Snowflake had just arrived at Cloudchasers home and she had been able to get the truth of where he had been all day out of him.

“I always thought Rainbow must have dyed her hair and now the chemicals have finally got through to her brain. Did she even think what the consequences could be if it goes wrong. Only the strongest of Pegasus ponies go through with it and even then they have a backup plan or spotter. Snowflake how could you even consider helping her?”

“Yeah...”

“I don’t care how persuasive she was its just plain dangerous and reckless!”

Suddenly a huge gust of wind blew through the windows and the two ponies looked outside to see two rainbooms, albeit one could be called a pinkboom, originate from over Ponyville.

“A DOUBLE Rainboom! What the hell does that mean?”

“YEAH!!” Snowflake new exactly what it meant.
