Applejack watched Rainbow Dash fade into the sky; off to seize her dream, to become a Wonderbolt. She squeezed Rainbow's momento tight against her chest, chanting a promise bathed in gold. A promise she vowed to never forget... Ten years later..
As the old mantra goes; Time heals all wounds. But Time also corrodes. Life, love, promises, all of them suffer for it. Applejack knew this. More than anypony, really. The day she watched Rainbow Dash leave to achieve her life-goal, Applejack might've forgotten. Just for a moment.
'For years, I clung to the memory of it. Then the memory of the memory. And then nothing. I look upon you and feel nothing. I remember nothing but you turning your back on me.
