A soldier from another world leads the Dawn Shield to defend Equestria from a powerful evil

The Elements of Harmony have been Equestria's greatest defense for over a thousand years. They imprison, purify, and subdue their foes in the hopes that they may saved from their dark ways. But what if an evil beyond redemption threatens the world?

David Corbin, a former soldier of the Kordan Empire, finds himself in a new world, and a new form. Taking the name Midnight Star, he simply tries to make a new life for himself, but fate has other plans. The appearance of the Elements of Order herald a new threat to Equestria, and Midnight finds himself called to take up arms again. To aid him in combating this threat, Celestia forms a special task force, Dawn Shield. Now he, the other Elements of Order, and the Elements of Harmony must combat a foe the likes of which Equestria hasn't seen in millennia.

The Elements of Order are NOT more Elements of Harmony. They are related, but still separate. Though the main OC is the primary focus through most of the beginning, the focus will be spread out among the others. Some acts will have very little of him, or even none at all.
