Dreams and Tears (Princess Luna x King Sombra)

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Princess Luna was the guardian of dreams, but who looked after her when she slept?

In her dreams, Princess Luna was falling. Not flying but plummeting to the ground, unable to control her fall. She couldn't fly, she couldn't even teleport, she was helpless, falling into darkness. Falling into her memories.

The memories were opaque, colours diluted and voices muffled. She was in her throne room alongside her sister, she could barely remember what she said. It´s like a fog was surroudning her, drowning every sound.

He walks into the room and bows before them. Something in his eyes, his gleaming jade colored eyes. He didn't smiled, he kept the same monotone tone when exposing his arguments to the Princesses, but she couldn't stop looking at him, at those eyes.

Princess Luna tried to escape from her dream, fighting against the covers in her bedroom. It was to no use. She kept falling and falling, deeper into oblivion.

The stars were bright in the sky but she couldn't remember placing them there. They seem so artificial and lifeless, almost like she was staring at a picture. He was standing next to her in the balcony, both looking at the distance, where the Crystal Empire rested. She wanted to talk to him, she wanted to know more about this royal counselor who wanted to explore the kingdom far north and harness its power. Celestia was wary of him, she feared power might overcome him but Luna could understand him. She knew what ambition was and how much it weighed in the chest.

Luna was still staring and his eyes and blushed when he noticed it. He asked for her hoof and kissed it. A simple gesture, set in protocol but Luna blushed harder. The pressure on her chest felt different when he did that.

Luna jumped on her bed, struggling against the shadows that dragged her in her sleep. The guards outside heard the commotion, unsure what to do. The Princess had asked for privacy and they obeyed.

In her dreams, Celestia wasn't the kind, soft spoken sister that she really was. She was tall and imposing, down right frightening. She had her wings spread and the sun burning behind her. She was mad and disappointed at Luna for her words, for defending him, Luna was scared but the feeling on her chest prompted her to stand against her sister, to defend him. Celestia asked her why and Luna couldn't said the words, she couldn't even said them to herself.

Then, she finally hit the bottom. It wasn't hard stone, it was different. It was like crystal. Darkness surrounded her, she couldn't see anything even when invoking a ,ight from her hron,. There was no sound, there was no wind, Everything was static and yet she could felt something around her. Something in the darkness.

The shadows twirled and roared, taking into a different shape. A menacing, monstrous shape. The shape opened its mouth, showing its black fangs. But Luna wasn't afraid of any monster, she was ready to fight the creature of their nightmares when the creature opened its eyes, his beautiful jade colored eyes.

Princess Luna woke up with a scream. Before the guards coudl react, Princess Celestia appeared, ordering them to stand outside. She walked next to her sister and placed a comforting wing around her.

She knew how much Luna´s dream hurt, how much she suffered when they expelled the evil King Sombra. She knew that action broke Luna´s heart, attacking the one she loved.

Her little sister, so fragile, so innocent. Her only crime had been falling in love with one whose heart was too dark to accept her.

Celestia brought Luna closer and let her cry on her shoulder, let her wipe away the dreams along with her tears.
