The story of Sparky Flame
Greatness from small begginings
It was a nice, cool day. Sparky was standing in a field, away from the city. The day had an almost orange look to it, as if Celestia herself was coloring the sky. The wind rushed Sparky's red mane, and his grey coat was almost shimmering. He slipped his goggles on, accompanied by his helmet and felt the straps around his head.He unfurled his wings and got in a ready position to fly.
"three..." he said audibly.
"two..."
"one..."
"HOOFSTON, WE HAVE IGNITION!" He yelled as he took off.
He felt the wind rush through his mane, flapped once, twice and soared higher. He had control of the entire sky! He could go anywhere! No...he couldn't. His family, his mother, his brother, his little sister. Also, the filly he fancied at school... Never mind that, this wasn't a place to think, it was a place to soar, and admire the sights. He thought of Rainbow Dash, that filly that had managed to do a sonic rainboom... Now he thought about it, why shouldn't he be able to? With the right speed... And on that thought he immediately tucked in his wings and shot towards the ground like a bullet. He new this would work. Though he was feeling a little hot... He saw a visible cone around him...but orange. His hind legs were a blur, disappearing into his red mane. He even might be able to-
BOOM
"Oh my goddesses, I did it!" he yelled.
Then he noticed that there was no rainbow blast emanating from him.
"wha-?" he said before he saw the trail of flame.
"I'M ON FIRE!" He screamed.
but it doesn't hurt. said a voice in his head.
"I must've made a...a... A SPEED-TANEOUS COMBUSTION!" He said, grinning at his cleverness.
He slowed down, lowering toward the ground and landed, moving on a small trot. He stopped and examined a burning plant that he had ignited. He stared into the flame, absorbed. Even when the plant was gone, he was still staring, entranced at the burning embers. He hardly noticed the flame mark that had appeared on his flank.
"S-Sparky? What did you just do?" asked an unseen voice
Sparky turned and looked at the pony that had approached. It was Laughing Riot, his best friend.
"That, my friend was a Speed-taneous Combustion." pulling up a grin.
"All that fire is kinda freaky...we could've killed somepony." frowned Laughing Riot.
"Yeah... we could have..." murmured Sparky, much to Laughing Riots discomfort.
Sparky Flame was walking down a street of the city of Canterlot, looking for anywhere he could get a decent drink.
'Filly Foolers'
The joint looked as good as any decent pub, so he galloped across the street, narrowly missing being hit by a truck. He entered the place, and was met with a loud beat, accompanied by a fancy light-show. He secretly thought it could be improved by one of his pyrotechnic displays of which he earned a living. Setting up flamethrowers for bands, helping with theme-park's rides and he even was hired by the Canterlot Guard Squadron to work on saddle-mounted flare guns, and other stuff he technically wasn't allowed to talk about.
He went to the bar and ordered some Applejack Daniels. As soon as he got it, he downed some, swiftly bringing up a lighter (A personal design, attached with a leather strap to his hoof) to his mouth and set fire to his breath.
"Yep, just right." he said to himself.
It was that moment that a white unicorn with a blue mane walked up right next to him. He knew that he recognized her.. but from where? He looked at her cutie mark to see if he could remember.
"Hey, buddy! My face is up here- Wait, aren't you that 'Flamin' Pony' guy?" she said.
He immediately recognized her as DJ PON-3, possibly the best DJ in Equestria.
"Yeah, that's me. Aren't you DJ PON-3? I really like your performances." Sparky said.
"Oh, well, I'm really only good at the music, I'm hopeless about light-shows." she blushed.
"But, you, 'Flamin' Pony', You have got some good performances. I went to that Ponybeat concert, it was awesome, with all the fire." she said
"Oh no! I only did the fire, I'd be absolutely horrible at the music!" he said
"My real name's Vinyl Scratch." she said, leaning in
"Mine's Sparky Flame." he said and, leaning in, kissed her.
