The exciting life of a vampony.
It was the first day of a two week long vacation that Lyra and Bon-Bon had been counting on for long while. They were finally going to get to relax and enjoy each others company without distractions.
Lyra walked out of the kitchen to see Bon-Bon sitting on the couch in the living room. “Hey, the fridge is just about empty, so I’m going to go shopping,” Lyra said, walking towards the front door. “Would you like to come with?”
“No thanks. I’ll just relax for a change,” Bon-Bon replied, looking in over her shoulder, “You have some fun though. It’s been a while since we were here.”
“Alrighty then, suit yourself,” Lyra cheerfully called out as she stepped outside and shut the door gently.
As Lyra found her way towards the local hospital, she noted the overcast sky. “Hmm, what a nice day for a walk,” she hummed to herself looking up into the bright grey sky.
Lyra and Bon-Bon were both very glad to have finally moved back to Ponyville after such a long time; it had been nearly three centuries since the last time they lived here. They had had to move around a lot to cover the fact that they don’t age; they didn't want the town’s folk to get suspicious of them when they still looked the same after ten years.
As Lyra rounded the next corner on her way she ran into a familiar looking mare, who was bounding down the road with glee. “Hi, are you new in town?” the white pegasus cheerfully asked, stopping immediately “I don’t think I’ve seen you before, but there is something really familiar about you.” she held out a hoof in greeting, “What’s your name?”
“I’m Lyra, its nice to meet you,” she accepts the gesture, and shook the hoof.
“Surprise!” the pegasus bellowed out, startling Lyra.
“What?”
“My name, its Surprise,” the pegasus answered.
“Okay then, Surprise, it was nice meeting you,” Lyra slowly stepped back, “but I’ve got to go, but I’ll see you around.”
“Okie dokie loki,” Surprise cheered as Lyra continued on her walk, “And I’ll be seeing you too!”
Lyra could finally see her destination coming into view, the hospital. As she walked up to the door she was greeted by a couple of patients sitting out front. She recognized a couple of the regulars who were in for ongoing treatments.
When she walked inside the receptionist just took a glance at her, and immediately recognized her, “Back so soon?” she asked as she got up and lead her through a door labelled ‘employees only’ which Lyra quietly slipped through.
A few moments pass and the minty colored unicorn stepped out of the door holding a large cooler in her magic; a large medical cross emblazoned on the front. “Thanks again, you really have no idea as to how much of a good help this is,” she said to the doctor behind the door as it shut.
“So how much do you think you got this time?” the receptionist queried, “Judging by the size of that box, it sure looks like a lot more this time.”
“At the least two whole months, or that's what I’m hoping for at least,” Lyra responded walking towards the door.
“Well you know you’re always welcome to get more,” the receptionist continued. “I am still curious as to why you need all that blood in the first place.”
“Haven’t you heard the rumors? Bon-Bon and I are vamponies, duh.” She stated as she as she waved a hoof through the air dramatically.
“Hah! That gets funnier every time I hear it.” The receptionist retorted falling over in a laughing fit. In reality, Lyra had been introduced as a medical courier taking donations to a non existent blood bank.
As Lyra stepped outside she quickly put the cooler into her storage spell so that she can walk home without being distracted by the temptations contained within the large box.
As she walked her way home from the hospital, she thought about the young mare she saw on her way to the hospital. There was just something really quite familiar about the white pegasus, but she just couldn't quite place it. Her personality was bringing up memories from a long time ago, but Lyra couldn’t grab a hold of them before they settled down again.
Finally reaching her house, she walked up to the front door and quickly opened it with her magic; once she was on the other side she closed it.
“I’ll just have to test my theory later...” Lyra said to herself as she walked through the door.
"What theory?" Bon-Bon questioned, over-hearing Lyra’s mutterings.
"Huh? Oh nothing," Lyra replied, "I've just been thinking aloud,"
"You know, you do that a lot," Bon-Bon commented, "you should really get that looked at,"
"Looked at? What exactly do you want looked at, my brain?" retorted the unicorn.
"Lyra, don't even joke about that. Remember that one time?" the earth pony said cautiously.
"Hay, I regained total functionality after only one year!" she replied with all sarcasm lost.
"Yes. But I still had to spoon feed you and change your diaper!" grimaced Bon-Bon.
"Okay. I'm sorry I put you through that. I can never thank you enough, for not abandoning me. But you were the one that sneezed and severed my hemispheres by mistake, remember?" she huffed.
"I warned you I was unsteady," she stated, "besides, you said it yourself that you wouldn't die, so what’s the big deal?"
"Never mind..." The minty unicorn moaned as she walked into the kitchen, she then brought the large cooler out of her magic and opened the lid, revealing the numerous thermoses and medical pouches all full of blood. "You thirsty?" she asked as she began to restock the fridge.
"Sure" Bon-Bon answered back.
Lyra came back out with two wine glasses filled to the brim with the deep red delicacy floating in the golden glow of her magic. "And here you go," She said as she floated one of the glasses over to Bon-Bon, who is standing on the ceiling in her usual way to relax.
