Honour and Magic
Chapter 1
It had been a few years since Twilight Sparkle became the princess of magic and life was rather good. Her friends would be able to visit her often and she was able to see her parents and teacher much more often. There was one pony that she was more glad to see than anypony else though, her oldest friend and fellow member of royalty prince Comet Rider. He was a pony with a coat of charcoal black and a golden mane and tail that seemed to shine in the sun. He would also have a pair of sapphire eyes that would always seem to glow and strangely, a mare’s face instead of a stallion’s face.
Twilight had always loved to be close to him due to his kind nature and the fact that he could keep up with her intelligence, once spending the whole day discussing astronomy and magic. He was indeed an amazing pony to her, often coming over to see her and spend time with her.
Sadly he had a tragic past that involved his family and a darkness that he inherited. He was the eldest son of princess Luna and a stallion that was once the captain of the royal guard and her big brother’s teacher, Spirit Riser. In the past, Nightmare moon came earlier than expected but was weakened by the early return, losing much of her power and leading to her capture. Only Spirit was kind to her, causing the Nightmare Moon persona to slowly slip away and the two to fall in love.
Tragedy befell the two however when Nightmare Moon’s darkness seemed to come back just after Luna gave birth to triplets, Comet Rider, Emerald Shine and Star Shower. Giving birth had weakened Luna, causing Nightmare Moon to come back and become resealed in the moon with her foals having to be raised by Spirit and Celestia.
Twilight had met Comet in magic kindergarten and although at first she thought he was just like everypony else, started to warm up to him after he saved her from some bullies, gaining his cutie mark for honour for standing up for what’s right. The cutie mark was a sword with a golden handle and a silver blade. Since that day they grew closer and became almost like a brother and sister.
After they arrived in Ponyville, they met their best friends, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow dash, Rarity, Applejack and Fluttershy, bonding with them while gaining the elements of harmony, Applejack with honesty Fluttershy with kindness, Pinkie pie with laughter, Rainbow Dash with loyalty, Rarity with generosity, Twilight with magic and Comet with honour.
During the Grand Galloping Gala, Comet had stayed with his aunt and Twilight, comforting her after she had little chance to talk to her teacher. Tragedy would come again however when Discord was released and later killed Comet’s father after the latter had sacrificed himself to save his son. More tragedy followed however when a few days later, Emerald Shine, Comet’s younger brother had betrayed him and tried to kill him, turning into a creature known as Darkscar.
The darkness of Nightmare Moon he had inherited would then take over him, turning him into a monstrous pony known as Armageddon, the spirit of darkness. After causing much destruction and sorrow, he would be turned back to normal with the six remaining elements. But because there was only six instead of seven, Comet would still have the darkness in him.
Over time, ponies forgave Comet for the misdeeds he had performed and he was able to assist his friends in battling Queen Chrysalis and King Sombra. After Twilight had become a princess, she was able to see comet a little more, thanking her luck. There was one little problem however, as Twilight would soon start feeling something for Comet, something more than just simple friendship.
The violet mare would shake her head as she tried to get the thoughts out of her head, reading a book out in the gardens. It was the latest in the Daring Do books and it provided little help distracting her from the thoughts running in her head.
“ Honestly Twilight, you shouldn’t be getting like this over a stallion. Sure he’s your best friend but he……he’s just……” She would sigh and shake her head, closing the book and coming to one final conclusion. “And he’s the one I want to be with….face it Twilight, you’re in love with Comet”
There would soon be some hoofsteps nearby as said stallion would be walking over to her, the sun reflecting off his mane and his eyes glowing with their sapphire hue as ever. Twilight could not help but stare at the stallion as he approached, wearing a dark blue suit with a silver crown similar to his mother and aunt’s crown but with his cutie mark embedded into the crown as a black gem.
“Why hello there miss Sparkle. Got your face in a book as usual I see” Comet then lets out a cheeky smile as he laughed a little, taking a seat by her. “How are you feeling today then Twilight?” The stallion would smile at her and tilt his head a bit, letting his ears droop with his head, giving him a bit of a cute look.
The face he was making caused Twilight to blush a little, rubbing the back of her head with one of her hooves, she then replies “Well I’m ok really Comet. I saw it was beautiful outside and I wanted to read in the sun for a while”
He smiled at her gently and nods a bit “Well I can’t say that I blame you Tw. This is a really nice day I have to agree. The pegasi have done really well with Rainbow as one of the Wonderbolts”
Last year, Rainbow had finally graduated from the Wonderbolt’s academy and was now one of the new Wonderbolts. She had sent them pictures of all the places she had been from Manehatten to Appleloosa and many other places.
“Oh I forgot to tell you, aunt Celestia and mom are expecting you in the dining room for dinner later along with Shining and Cadance and your parents. I’m heading over now so I will see you there” He then stands up and heads to the dining hall to make sure everything is ready.
She would groan a little when he leaves, shaking her head and sighing, she just had to tell him. Her birthday was tomorrow and she would tell him then. Hopefully he would feel the same about her that she does about him
